I made a reservation in advance when I visited Hakodate during my trip to Hokkaido. The restaurant was fully booked on Saturday, so it seems like it's better to make a reservation if you don't want to wait. Of course, I came for the sea urchin bowl. I ordered the regular size of the additive-free fresh sea urchin bowl, homemade sea urchin gratin, sea urchin tempura, a trio of shellfish, and two special side dishes (sea urchin tsukudani, abalone with sea urchin miso dressing). First, the side dishes and beer arrived, so I enjoyed the beer while waiting for the main dishes. The side dishes were rich in sea urchin flavor, and the texture of the abalone was interesting and went well with the alcohol. Then, the shellfish assortment arrived, and I enjoyed it with sake, which paired perfectly. The shellfish were fresh and crunchy, making me even more excited for the sea urchin dishes to come. Finally, I tried the sea urchin bowl, which was absolutely delicious with the natural sweetness of the sea urchin shining through without any additives. With a generous portion of 80g, it was a luxurious treat that almost overwhelmed the rice. If you don't need a lot of sea urchin, the small size might be enough. The sea urchin gratin had a rich flavor combining the sweetness of the white sauce and sea urchin, perfect with beer. The sea urchin tempura accentuated the sweetness of the heated sea urchin, also a delightful dish. It was my first trip to Hokkaido, so I didn't mind splurging on the meal, although the bill was quite high. Nevertheless, the satisfaction far exceeded the cost, and I would love to visit again.

I came to Hakodate, Hokkaido on a business trip and decided to have breakfast at the famous Hakodate Morning Market. I went to "Unimurakami Hakodate Main Store" where I ordered the "Additive-free Fresh Sea Urchin Bowl* Regular" that I always have when visiting. The sea urchin served today was from Kitamura Saki in Rishiri, and it was additive-free, which made it incredibly sweet and flavorful. Despite the increasing prices in recent years, I am grateful to be able to enjoy such delicious sea urchin.

I tried calling for weeks at all different times to make a reservation for my trip to Hokkaido, but couldn't get through at all and eventually gave up. Then, surprisingly, I was able to make a reservation easily the day before. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was empty, so I wondered why I had so much trouble getting through on the phone. Maybe they have a system to notify them of missed calls with a light instead of a ringing phone. They had a limited-time special of Ezo Bafun Uni from Rebun Island, so I decided to try a half portion with Murasaki Uni and topped it with ikura. The Ezo Bafun Uni half portion alone was over 8000 yen, and it came in a small bowl, not a donburi. When I tried both, I found that the Ezo Bafun Uni had a slightly unique flavor that added to its deliciousness. The Murasaki Uni, on the other hand, had no strong flavor and didn't have any artificial taste, allowing you to enjoy the true taste of the Uni. The texture was amazing, it just melted in your mouth! The restaurant was quiet with no ringing phones, creating a calm and cozy atmosphere. It was a lovely little place.

★Hakodate Food Adventure, First Stop!! Upon arriving in Hakodate, the first place we headed to was the morning market! We couldn't make a reservation, but we were able to get a seat by walking in straight to Uni Murakami! We arrived before 10 am, and were seated smoothly without waiting. After some hesitation, we decided to splurge on the limited edition Ezo Bafun Uni and additive-free fresh Uni comparison bowl! We started by tasting the Uni as is, then tried it with rice and sauce. Hmm, the Uni itself was elegant but lacked a bit of flavor and had a unique milky texture. Is this what high-end Uni tastes like? I feel like the one I had before didn't have that... Anyway, it's a bit pricey and the portion size doesn't quite match the price for us common folks. 8,000 yen for 70g of two types of Uni! But in Tokyo, sushi (3-4 pieces?) would cost more than three times this price... It's a tough call. Considering all that, there was a lot of rice and the bowl didn't feel quite balanced. I thought maybe ikura would be a better match for a bowl. I guess I had high expectations, and in terms of value for money, it just didn't suit my taste. It was a slightly disappointing first stop. Of course, it's not the restaurant's fault, the service was very polite.

When it comes to Hakodate, I think of uni-don (sea urchin bowl), so I was prepared to wait and headed to the Hakodate Morning Market. I hadn't had breakfast yet, so I bought some souvenirs at the market and then went to the restaurant. It was a Sunday morning, but surprisingly I was able to get in without waiting!! I ordered the additive-free fresh uni-don! I wanted to get the regular size, but I also wanted to have a morning beer, so I chose the small size! (I regretted it later... I should have gotten the regular size!) I also ordered the three-color bowl in a small size and some tuna sashimi! The thick slices of tuna were delicious! The additive-free Murasaki Uni melted in my mouth and disappeared (it was amazing!). Delicious! Next time I visit Hakodate, I definitely want to try the regular size. Thank you very much.

Famous for its fresh sea urchin with no added preservatives, this restaurant is known for its high quality seafood. I called ahead the day before to make a reservation, but was told that due to the typhoon, they were unsure if they would have fresh sea urchin available. However, when I checked their online store, it seemed like they had some in stock, so I decided to visit without a reservation on the day. I arrived a bit after 11am aiming for an early lunch, and was able to be seated right away as the restaurant was not crowded. Due to limited stock of fresh sea urchin, they only offered the small size sea urchin bowl. In addition to the sea urchin bowl, I also ordered sea urchin rice porridge, grilled sea urchin, tuna sashimi, and grilled live abalone. It had been a while since I had enjoyed the sweet sea urchin without the bitterness of alum, and I was very satisfied. The other dishes were also delicious, especially the abalone.

A shop operated by a processing company of sea urchin in Hakodate. They open from 8:30 in the morning, and it's a super popular shop with long lines even before opening (except during the Obon period, reservations are accepted). After waiting for about 30 minutes, we were seated. The main dish is sea urchin, but they also offer a variety of bowls and a la carte dishes using salmon roe and other seafood. The most popular dish is the sea urchin bowl, but during this season, the salmon roe has been replaced with new salmon roe, so I ordered the two-color bowl with sea urchin and salmon roe. The sea urchin used in the bowl varies depending on the day and season, and on this day, they used Kitamurasaki sea urchin. The size of the bowl is quite small, so if you're expecting a generous serving of seafood, you might be surprised when it arrives (laughs). However, the quality of the sea urchin itself is really good. It's comparable to the sea urchin used in high-end sushi restaurants in Tokyo, and I was impressed by their sourcing. On the other hand, the new salmon roe I was looking forward to was somewhat mediocre. It lacked the fresh texture typical of new salmon roe and was clearly overly soaked in soy sauce. I should have just stuck with the sea urchin alone... The rice in the bowl is served hot white rice. It's a seafood bowl, so it's fine, but slightly cooled vinegared rice would have been better suited for the sea urchin and salmon roe. The bowl comes with miso soup with mozuku seaweed and pickles. It seems like you can have unlimited refills of miso soup. As the name suggests, it's a good place to eat sea urchin.

When I went to Hakodate, I definitely wanted to visit this restaurant. You can enjoy high-quality Hokkaido sea urchin all year round. While waiting in line, I was directed to the station front store, but I decided to wait for the main store! If you are in a hurry, the station front store may be better from the beginning. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I was seated. - Ordered the additive-free fresh sea urchin bowl for 7,260 yen. Although there was also Ezo Bafun sea urchin from Rishiri and Rebun islands available for a limited time, I chose to enjoy the Kitamura Saki sea urchin from the nearby waters of Hakodate. A generous 80 grams of beautifully arranged sea urchins. I couldn't stop being excited just by looking at them. I wanted to savor the sweetness of the sea urchin, so I used as little soy sauce as possible and ate it with a small amount of rice. Since they don't use alum, the sea urchin melts away, but that's fine. The rice covered with melting sea urchin was so sweet and delicious. Just this alone makes me feel glad I came to Hokkaido. Also, the miso soup that came with the bowl was very delicious, and I ended up having seconds. It was really delicious. Thank you for the feast!

Hakodate food tour. The first stop was for uni (sea urchin) donburi. When I went to Hokkaido, I knew I had to try uni donburi. After researching various restaurants, Uni Murakami seemed to be highly recommended, so I made a reservation in advance and visited. The restaurant was tucked away in a corner of the morning market, and it was quite busy inside. I tried the uni donburi, uni gratin, grilled uni shell, and uni tempura. Hmm, it was definitely delicious! However, the prices were a bit high for me as a budget traveler. Also, I was hoping for a bit more atmosphere for the price. The staff were very friendly. Thank you for the meal!

It was a quick business trip, but I was able to visit a popular restaurant that cannot be missed when in Hakodate. The visual impact of the sea urchin bowl is one of the secrets of its popularity. I wanted to try other seafood as well, and the staff recommended the raw tuna, so I decided to order the three-color bowl in a small size (3,850 yen). I chose sea urchin, salmon roe, and raw tuna for the three colors, indulging in luxury. Although I wanted to visit other restaurants, I opted for the small size bowl, which was satisfying even for someone like me who eats a lot. The taste was delicious, but I didn't feel as impressed as I thought I would, considering the price. Perhaps, as the name of the restaurant suggests, it is best to focus on eating sea urchin here. I also ordered a snack-like set called the "satisfaction set," but it didn't give me the feeling of being exclusive to this place. Thinking about it, it seems that eating a big bowl of sea urchin here and moving on to the next sightseeing spot is the right choice.

During my trip to Hokkaido, I visited Uni Murakami Hakodate Main Store near Hakodate Station. This shop is a renowned Uni bowl restaurant and is directly managed by a Uni processing company, which allows you to enjoy additive-free fresh Uni. I visited on a weekday for lunch and had made a reservation in advance, so I was promptly seated. I ordered the regular size Uni bowl with 80g of fresh Uni (7,260 yen) and got a free daily side dish using a coupon from Tabelog. The Uni was sourced from Kitamura Saki Uni near Hakodate, and it was beautifully arranged on the bowl, shining with a golden hue. The Uni itself was absolutely delicious, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich, creamy flavor that I had never experienced before. I also tried it with their special soy sauce mixed with wasabi and rice, creating a unique Uni bowl taste that was truly out of this world. Uni Murakami uses Uni without synthetic preservatives or additives, which enhances the natural sweetness and flavor of the Uni. Despite the high price, it was a luxurious and unforgettable dining experience that I believe was worth every penny. Overall, it was an amazing restaurant that left me with a deep sense of appreciation.

I was curious about Unimurakami-san! I arrived in Hakodate at 14:05 on the Shinkansen and dashed to the restaurant. It's about a 3-minute walk from the station, so I made it in time for the last order. I had eaten a bento box at 10 o'clock, so I decided on the Nisoku-don S size! The Nisoku-don S size comes with 30g of sea urchin. The regular size has 80g and the S size has 40g, so keep that in mind. I made the right choice with the Nisoku-don S size! I usually prefer Bafun uni, but this day they had Murasaki uni. It was sweet, with little (not none) fishy taste, and the ikura was delicious too! But the highlight was the miso soup with grated yam, it was so delicious that I had seconds. If I come back, I might get the Nisoku-don S size again... although I'm also interested in trying other seafood bowls in the area!

The sea urchin was definitely delicious, but the cost performance was too poor. The tuna sashimi had a chewy texture and wasn't tasty. I forgot to take a photo, but the sea urchin tempura was especially disappointing. I don't understand why this place is popular. The first meal I had in Hakodate left me feeling disappointed.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon during a three-day weekend with a reservation. There was a long line of customers without reservations, likely a 1-2 hour wait. They had fresh Ezo Bafun Uni available, so I ordered a comparison bowl with regular Uni. The orange-colored Bafun Uni was incredibly rich and delicious. I also tried Uni tempura and Uni dashimaki tamago, but cooking Uni seemed to diminish its rich flavor. Fresh Uni is truly exceptional, especially when eaten raw.

I called to see if I could eat some sea urchin with a ladder, and they said they had availability so I went to the restaurant. I decided to try a half-size comparison of Ezo Bafun Uni. My companion had a three-color bowl. The Bafun Uni was sweet and melted in my mouth, but even the regular Murasaki Uni was delicious, so I thought maybe it's not necessary to choose the expensive Bafun Uni. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

♪Enjoyable Hokkaido trip with family♪ On the first day in Hakodate, we hadn't decided on where to have lunch. Various options were suggested during a family meeting, such as pasta, ramen, and sea urchin bowl, but we all agreed on the sea urchin bowl. So, we visited the popular "Uni Murakami Hakodate Main Store" in Hakodate. They use fresh sea urchin without additives, which raised our expectations. This restaurant is located near the Hakodate Morning Market, making it a perfect spot for tourists. Despite its popularity, the restaurant is small but the service is good. Our orders were: ● Daughter... Sea urchin three-color bowl (sea urchin, tuna, salmon) regular size for 5060 yen ● Husband... Two-color bowl (sea urchin, tuna) regular size for 5940 yen ● Myself... Two-color bowl (sea urchin, scallop) small size for 4290 yen ● Sea urchin gratin for 1320 yen each. The dishes arrived in just 5 minutes, as they require minimal cooking time. The quality of the ingredients made the dishes delicious. However, the bowls priced over 5000 yen didn't seem worth it in terms of cost performance. Personally, I felt a bit unsatisfied and couldn't finish the rice. It seems that sea urchin bowls may not be the best choice for us to fully enjoy sea urchin. We realized this for the first time during this visit. Also, the sea urchin we had was purple sea urchin. It turned out that the truly delicious one is the green sea urchin. We rediscovered the deliciousness of green sea urchin at a different sushi restaurant the next day. Despite the cost performance, sea urchin bowls can still be a fun highlight of Hakodate sightseeing. Should we overlook the poor cost performance and focus on the visual appeal instead?

I made a reservation for Saturday at 1:00 PM and arrived a little early. When I approached the restaurant, they said they were just finishing up and let me in early. The menu had a variety of gems, making it hard to choose, but we decided to share a two-color bowl since we wanted to try something other than sea urchin. We also ordered tempura and grilled shellfish since we wanted to try something other than raw dishes. Our conclusion was that raw sea urchin was the most delicious, but everything was tasty. We shared the two-color bowl and they even brought us two servings of miso soup, making it a delightful dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on Saturday afternoon and used a nearby paid parking lot. I ordered a mini sea urchin bowl and grilled mackerel. The mackerel took some time to come, but it arrived relatively quickly. The sea urchin was locally sourced and quite delicious. The bowl was small but satisfying. Other than us, there were foreign visitors, but we were able to relax in a semi-private room.

Sea urchin contains a rich amount of purines, with 137.3mg per 100g, making it classified as a danger for the elderly. However, with fresh, Hokkaido sea urchin available during this season, it's hard to resist. The Ezobafun sea urchin from Rishiri and Rebun is particularly popular. The restaurant, located a bit off the main street in Hakodate, opens at 8:30 am, with a line forming as early as 8:15 am. The operation is well-organized, with reserved customers given priority. The staff's attention to detail is commendable, making the waiting experience pleasant. The menu includes unique items like the Matsuhada Karei, which I highly recommend. The Ezobafun sea urchin bowl I ordered was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with no hint of unpleasant odor. The Uni Shell Grilled dish was a luxurious treat, enhancing the natural sweetness of the sea urchin. The Matsuhada Karei was also a delight, with a firm yet tender texture and a burst of sweetness with each bite. Visiting this restaurant for the sea urchin alone was worth the trip to Hokkaido, and I will definitely make it a point to return in the future.

During a business trip to Hakodate, I had breakfast at this restaurant. It's located at the end of the street in Hakodate Morning Market. I went there around 9:30 am on a weekday and didn't have to wait. There were English menus available, and I noticed many foreign tourists dining there. Despite that, I was seated in a semi-private area, so I was able to enjoy my meal in a calm atmosphere. It seemed like you could make reservations even during breakfast hours. I ordered the "Additive-free Fresh Sea Urchin Bowl (Small)" for 4,345 yen. The sea urchin that day was from the Northern Four Islands. It wasn't a large portion, but it was perfect for breakfast. The incredibly fresh sea urchin had a rich flavor that was absolutely delicious. I sprinkled the special soy sauce with wasabi on top, and I finished it in no time. The miso soup with grated yam was also tasty, and the fact that you could get refills was a nice touch. It's a bit pricey, but it's a must-try dish, even if you have to opt for a hotel plan without breakfast. It was the ultimate sea urchin bowl experience.
