On a day in December, close to Christmas, I naturally found myself heading towards a delicious soup curry. It had been 3 years since my last visit, but I was drawn back in December once again. I wonder if December makes me crave soup curry. Inside the restaurant, the Christmas tree set the perfect festive mood! This time, let's try a different menu. I ordered the Braised Seasonal Vegetable Curry for 1480 yen and the Grilled Cheese for 150 yen, with a spice level of 6 and a small serving of rice. The curry had chunks of braised meat that were incredibly tender. The grilled cheese on top of the vegetables melted beautifully over time. The soup, as always, had a fantastic flavor. Being free of artificial seasonings, the taste was pure bliss. The balance between the spices and richness was exceptional. It was delicious! There were more customers than 3 years ago! On my way out, I even received Christmas sweets as a gift. Thank you so much! It was a wonderful meal.

I had lunch here. There were a few counter seats and table seats. The atmosphere was stylish and the staff were very friendly, teaching me how to eat soup curry and regularly refilling my water. I had the braised pork and vegetable curry. The curry had lots of ingredients, and the braised pork and vegetables were tender. It was very delicious.

I had soup curry after a long time at a famous restaurant in Kotoni. They are particular about their vegetables, mainly using local produce. I indulged in adding my favorite lamb meat. It was such a lucky choice. It was served promptly. Thank you for the delicious meal. It was amazing!

On a regular weekday at 2 pm, I had some time to spare so I decided to visit a curry restaurant. There were about 4 groups of customers inside and the food was not being served yet. I ordered a vegetable curry that seemed quick to make. I asked for the spiciness level to be the usual maximum for free. I also ordered chicken for takeout. I was curious about the herbs and lamb options as well. I was the 7th person in line, so my order was ready in about 20 minutes. Since the food is free of additives, the vegetable curry was light and refreshing, with a nice crunch from the chopped pickles. Both the soup and vegetables tasted carefully prepared. The staff at the restaurant are always friendly. I only got one stamp on my card because it's only for dine-in purchases. Thank you for the meal.

Located in a building with a parking lot, this soup curry restaurant on the second floor has space for two cars to park on the first floor. The interior is stylish like a cafe. This time, I tried the braised pork. The braised pork was tender and delicious, with a rich pork broth and flavorful soup.

Arrived at the restaurant just after opening on Saturday at 11:30 am. There was one group of customers already there, followed by two more later. The majority of customers were women. Located just a 1.5-minute walk from the bus center in Kotoni, towards the Yamate area, crossing the signal and turning left on the first small street. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of a building, with a cafe called "Cafe de Tiara" on the 1st floor (not visited). The interior has a stylish and calm atmosphere, similar to a cafe. The background music playing was reggae/dub, and there was a monitor showing a live feed of pandas from a zoo. There were around three staff members, both male and female. As it was my first visit, I ordered the classic "Chicken Curry" (1200 yen) with a spice level of 3 (moderately spicy) and medium rice (280g, +50 yen) because the regular portion seemed insufficient. You can also opt for no rice (-50 yen). The dish arrived about 10 minutes later, along with the other customers' orders. The soup was creamy, flavorful, and spicy, which was delicious! It left a slightly oily residue around the mouth, but it had a nice richness. The spice level 3 was a bit spicy for someone who prefers medium, but it had a good balance of spices. The large chicken leg was tender and easily fell apart with a spoon, well-seasoned. The vegetables were also large and incredibly sweet! The lotus root was sweet, and the carrots were very sweet and soft! The turmeric rice was fine, but regular rice would have sufficed. Towards the end, I found the soup running out, which made it a bit monotonous. Overall, it was a satisfying and delicious meal. The flavors were traditional, but the quality was high overall! I might try the "Clam Curry with Asari and Hamaguri" next time.

Today, I went to the Kotoni area by bike in search of lunch. It was the last day of the long weekend on Sunday, and surprisingly many places were closed. Since I had curry yesterday, I wanted to avoid curry dishes, but the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed, so I ended up at this place. It was around 1 pm and there was only one other customer inside. I decided to try the "Chicken Vegetable Curry" which was a bit pricey at ¥1400 including tax. The regular rice portion was 180g, but I upgraded to a larger portion for an extra ¥50, making it 280g. I chose the level 4 spiciness. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes after ordering. I hadn't noticed before, but the rice was turmeric rice. I thought it was fair to pay an extra ¥50 for a larger portion. The chicken was tender and a good size, and the vegetables were all cooked to a soft texture. The portion size was decent. The level 4 spiciness was surprisingly hot, causing me to sweat a bit. Mixing the turmeric rice with the soup balanced out the spiciness. The flavor was not monotonous and had a deep taste, showing why this place is popular. I enjoyed eating slowly in the quiet atmosphere, and I would like to come back to this restaurant again.

#SAKURABROWN#Sakura Brown#Kotoni#Sapporo CityFinally came after a long time♡ Clam curry with asari and hamaguri (spiciness level 4) with medium rice (180g) The flavor of the shellfish is amazing♡ It's the best♡ The spiciness is just right!! The daikon and eggplant are delicious too♡ It seems like the portion size is the issue because I get hungry quickly haha For those who prefer mild flavors, the saltiness is just right!! The soup is healthy and has a mild taste♡ It was 11:30 on a holiday and the two parking spots below the restaurant were already full... Even though we were the very first customers... It took about 25 minutes from ordering to serving! There were 4 more groups of customers, so it was bustling~

I visited this restaurant for lunch while feeling hungover and craving some spice in my body. I arrived right at the opening time of 11:30 am, but the place was already almost full. It seems to be a popular spot. I ordered the chicken curry with a spice level of 4, extra large soup, and medium rice (180g). I also added one piece of zangi. It took 40 minutes for the food to be ready, even though it was crowded. I realized it might not be a good idea to come here during lunch break. The soup was light but had a good amount of spice. However, maybe because I was hungover, I found it a bit lacking. The extra large soup was unnecessary. The chicken and other ingredients were all tender and tasty. The zangi was tender and tasty too, but the garlic flavor was too strong, not like the zangi I'm familiar with. The staff was very friendly and apologetic about the wait, which made for a pleasant and welcoming customer service experience.

Two days after my last visit. It's a little after 5:30 PM on Saturday. In the past, they used to close early due to running out of soup, but today they are fine. There were no customers before or after me, and the staff were putting effort into disinfecting. I decided on the extremely spicy Stamina Spicy, which comes in three levels of spiciness for free. I chose the lowest level, but it was spicier than the usual level 6 I order. So, I went with the lowest level. I also requested 60g of rice. It arrived in about 10 minutes, smelling delicious with garlic chips, herb keema, and pickled chili aroma. It also had enoki mushrooms, tofu, tomatoes, tteok, eggplant, and four pieces of tteok. I was worried about the tteok as I don't usually like it, but this was actually good. There was plenty of tofu, and four cherry tomatoes. The soup was as tasty as always, and the spiciness was just right for me. Maybe I'll try level 7 next time, but it will cost more, so I'm undecided. It was a good level of spiciness, just how I like it. The bowl was filled with plenty of soup, and it stayed hot throughout. I also appreciated the lemon served with the rice. It was delicious. With the unlimited stamp card, I get a free topping after 5 visits, so I'll probably be back soon. Thank you for the meal!

It's always crowded and sometimes they run out of soup, so I adjusted my timing to go on a weekday after 1 pm. Oh, it's empty today. Only 2 groups of customers before me and 2 groups after me. I was planning to go for the super spicy stamina spicy dish, but just before ordering, I saw the monthly limited edition garlic cheese keema on their Instagram. The contents seemed similar, so I decided to go for the limited edition dish. It costs 1400 yen. It includes garlic, minced meat, grilled tomato, cheese, and daikon. It seemed a bit lacking, so I added tofu topping for an extra 100 yen. I chose the maximum level of spiciness, level 6, which was free of charge. I asked for a smaller portion of rice, 60g instead of the usual 100g. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to arrive. It was a big bowl with a small serving of rice. It was served with a lemon on the side. The soup was plentiful and delicious. The broth had a good umami flavor and an Asian touch. The spiciness was just right and balanced well with the other flavors. The daikon was thick and cooked perfectly. Even though I don't usually like daikon in soup curry, it worked well with this combination. The cheese didn't stand out much, and I felt the portion was quite small. But I liked that it didn't overpower the dish. The minced meat was of good quality and had a nice texture. The grilled tomato was delicious as well. It was about half the size of a regular tomato. The tofu topping was silky and had a smooth texture without any off-flavors. Each element was well thought out and delicious. Considering the taste and quality, I think the price was justified. I also received a stamp card with no expiration date. It allows me to get a free topping after collecting 5 stamps. Overall, the food was delicious, the menu had many other interesting items, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were friendly. I enjoyed the ample portions of soup, meat, and vegetables. I'll definitely be back soon. Thank you for the meal.

I misunderstood that the parking lot was on the basement floor, but it turned out that the store was on the lower floor, with the parking lot on the first floor. It was unclear that the tiles where you're not supposed to park were actually parking spaces. The sign saying "no parking" made me think I couldn't park there, but it probably meant not to park in front of the store. Climbing the external stairs to enter the store, I was greeted by a poster of Shimumu Ken's Bakatono-sama. The seasonal vegetable toppings were a set of three: garlic chives, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), and bok choy. These are not typical curry toppings, so I assumed they were for advanced curry enthusiasts. I ignored them. I ordered vegetable curry with a seasoned egg topping, spiciness level 6 out of 8 for free, and normal rice (180g). The vegetables were large chunks, with sweet potatoes, potatoes, and eggplants being fried. I wished they had also fried broccoli, okra, and lotus root. Daikon radish, an unusual choice, was also included. While I love daikon, I don't think it belongs in curry. It tasted good, but didn't add much to the dish. The seasoned egg was similar to what you'd find in ramen and was delicious. The spiciness level 6 was too much; I should have chosen 4 or 5 instead. The soup was neither good nor bad, just standard. It wasn't too thick or too thin, lacking richness. It felt like a typical Sapporo-style soup curry, but it wasn't to my taste.

It's been a while since I've been here. I had the Chicken and Vegetable dish number 7 (¥100). They substituted sweet potatoes for pumpkin, but personally, I prefer it this way. The chicken was tender and well cooked, very delicious. The rice was shiny and perfectly cooked. The lemon provided was also a nice touch. I could taste the fish sauce, and overall it was consistently delicious.

Final day of my business trip in Sapporo. I visited SAKURA BROWN for my last lunch, taking a walk before my evening flight back to Tokyo. Located about a 2-minute walk from Kotoni Station, SAKURA BROWN is a popular spot known for its soup curry made without any artificial seasonings. I arrived around 11:40 and climbed the stairs to the 2nd floor where the cozy and spacious restaurant is located. With a total of 24 seats at the counter and tables, the atmosphere was very welcoming. I sat at a table for two and ordered the following: - Pork belly and seasonal vegetable curry for 1,500 yen - Zangi (fried chicken) for 250 yen each x 2 - Flavored egg (homemade) for 150 yen - Vegetable set (broccoli, okra, pumpkin) for 200 yen - Spiciness level: 5 - Large rice (380g) for 100 yen The total came to 2,450 yen. In about 15 minutes, I was served a bowl of soup filled with plenty of ingredients, a large portion of rice, and a separate plate of zangi. The presentation was impressive! I may have ordered too much... The soup base was made from chicken broth, aromatic vegetables, and Rausu kelp, cooked slowly to perfection. Despite being free of artificial seasonings, it had a rich flavor that was satisfying. I could have handled a higher spiciness level than 5. The ingredients included various vegetables, seasonal greens, two generous pieces of pork belly, a vegetable set, and a flavored egg. The pork belly was thick and tender, a real treat. The zangi was also sizeable, juicy, and bursting with flavor. It was seasoned heavily, so I enjoyed it separately with the rice. I was completely stuffed after finishing everything. The service at SAKURA BROWN was excellent. Personally, I enjoyed the flavorful ingredients more than the soup itself. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Last visit was in 2014 when I was also a beginner in soup curry and didn't quite understand the taste. I like roux curry so I felt a bit unsatisfied. This time, I revisited after a long time. There are two parking spaces on the first floor. Going up the stairs, the second floor has a cafe-like bar atmosphere. I had the chicken and vegetable curry with a spiciness level of 6. The soup was light but flavorful, and quite spicy. I really enjoyed it and would like to eat it again. I also want to try the recommended chai next time.

My daughter had never tried soup curry before, so we decided to come here. We ordered the classic chicken curry with an egg on top. My daughter ordered the shrimp curry. It was a standard soup curry. In the past, many places I've been to had deep-fried vegetables that were too oily, but here they were light and crispy. The flavored egg was soft-boiled, similar to what you would find at a ramen shop. The soup had a nice richness to it and was light enough to be easy to eat, which I enjoyed. Thank you for the meal!

I went shopping around the area near Kin and had a late lunch. It was a bit cold, so I decided to have some soup curry. I found this place through a search on Tabelog, where they focus on using natural ingredients and no chemical seasonings. This time, I had the vegetable curry with zangi topping, with a spice level of 3, which was quite spicy and made me sweat a bit. There were plenty of vegetables in the curry, and it was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I was expecting a lot from this place with a hundred stores. There were two parking spaces available and both were empty! Lucky! The interior of the restaurant is clean. I had chicken curry, which was number 5, and my partner had zangi and nagaimo, which were number 3. The most delicious dish was the zangi! The soup was like the typical Sapporo soup curry, thin and with burnt basil floating on top. The spiciness was sharp without layers of spices, and I realized that I prefer slowly building spiciness. The rice was cooked just right and delicious. There is no Wi-Fi, and they only accept cash. It was nice to have water and tissues on the table.

All the ingredients are soft and delicious, even the chicken is tender down to the cartilage (lol). However, it's a bit disappointing that the woman taking orders was a bit unfriendly, and in this era of COVID, I don't like that they just throw in a spoon and fork.

You can choose the spiciness level from 8 options, with the reviewer choosing the medium spiciness level. The rice portion can also be selected from 4 options, with a normal serving being about the size of Sekoma's extra-large rice ball, which may not be enough for men. The soup is similar to a strong chicken broth, but with a unique taste that is not quite the same. It has a salty taste like salted chanoko, but with a refreshing aftertaste. The soup contains 3 shrimp, giving it a strong seafood aroma, but the taste itself is rich in shrimp flavor without being too heavy, with the aroma leaning towards shrimp. The vegetables and ingredients used are of high quality and delicious. The daikon radish in the soup complements the flavor well. The seasoned egg is creamy and half-cooked, even better than the average ramen shop. Overall, it is clear that the chef is skilled. However, the soup is quite light for a soup curry, lacking in umami, which may not be to everyone's taste and may be better enjoyed after drinking. The seasonal limited-time menu is also worth trying.

Located off the main street in a residential area, a short walk from Kotoen Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line. Visited on a Sunday around 11:30 am. There were 3 groups of customers already inside. Unfortunately, we had to wait for about 25 minutes for our order to arrive as the tables were almost full when we entered at the same time as the other groups. We ordered: - Chicken and Vegetable Curry - Coconut Soup - Spice level "6" (really spicy!) - Rice "normal" - Kotoen Fried Chicken First, we tried the soup. Wow, it's spicy! But the coconut helps to balance it out. The level of spiciness was just right for me, at the maximum limit of what I can enjoy. This is delicious! The coconut adds richness to the soup. It seems like the spice level "minus 1" for coconut was a good choice. The large chunks of ingredients like potatoes and carrots were impressive, especially the sweet carrots which paired well with the spicy curry. The chicken was tender, and the other vegetables like eggplant, beans, and broccoli were also good. Overall, I really enjoyed this soup curry. In between bites, we had the Kotoen Fried Chicken. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned. And it was huge! It was a nice break from the spicy soup curry. After finishing everything with sweat dripping down, we had a satisfying meal. Thank you! Rating: 3.60 out of 5
