A restaurant near Sapporo Station where you can enjoy Japanese sake and food. As expected, it was a great place. The dishes were especially delicious. Hatahata, Kasube, Matsukawa, Komai, Hokki, and squid. All the seafood was delicious. The Matsukawa and Hokki were very fresh. We peeled the dried Komai by hand. The Kasube simmered dish had a perfect flavor. The Hatahata was seasoned with miso, giving it a unique taste that fish lovers will adore! All of them paired perfectly with the Japanese sake. Of course, we ended up drinking too much. They have a variety of sake, including local Hokkaido ones and ones from different regions. You can choose according to your taste. The service at the restaurant was also great, making it a satisfying dinner experience. I now have another restaurant to visit when I come back to Sapporo ^^

I have been coming here since last year. When I traveled to Hokkaido last year, most of the restaurants were full due to our late arrival, so we had no choice but to go to this restaurant. However, the food was so delicious that I made a reservation for this year. Although I originally came for the grilled alfonsino, it was expensive and I had it last night. I was recommended to try the grilled Okhotsk atka mackerel, so I ordered it. It was very delicious, rivaling the grilled alfonsino. When I eat mackerel in the Kanto region, it has a unique smell that I tend to avoid. I hope I can come back next year.

Before the customers from Tokyo head back, we wanted to treat them to a nice meal. Since they had time before catching the JR train to New Chitose Airport, we decided on this restaurant near Sapporo Station that was featured in "Oishinbo." The menu here hits the spot for sake lovers, and everything we tried was delicious. Plus, they have a wide selection of local sake! This is a restaurant that will satisfy those who enjoy good drinks.

I was able to visit a izakaya that I had been curious about for a while thanks to a reservation. I was particularly interested in trying the Butter-Stewed Potatoes that were featured in volume 67 of Oishinbo. Although I had given up because reservations were required two days in advance, the landlady kindly approached me and I was able to try it. Just as depicted in the manga, the potatoes had a unique deliciousness that even people who dislike potatoes could enjoy. The butter and bonito dashi soup, as described in the recipe, had a gentle and elegant flavor that made me feel like I could drink it endlessly. I would like to try making it at home as well.

On this day, the sake brewery from Mitsui no Susumu in Saga Prefecture visited, and we were able to enjoy 11 different types of Mitsui no Susumu, which is currently gaining popularity worldwide. The sake was accompanied by delicious dishes selected from the restaurant's menu. The classic buttered potatoes were very delicious♪ And to finish, we had Uni Donburi♪ It was a very satisfying evening!

Located a 3-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station North Exit, this restaurant is part of a building with many stores on the B1F. The exterior looks like a typical, slightly old-fashioned izakaya. The inside is crowded and lively. We ordered Hokkaido dishes such as white asparagus and assorted sashimi. The "potato butter stew" featured in "Oishinbo" seemed to be a popular dish, but unfortunately it was not available that day. They offer a variety of seasonal dishes using local ingredients. There is a wide selection of Japanese sake from Hokkaido and other regions in Japan. The staff recommended us some sake and provided detailed explanations. We enjoyed our meal and drinks, and the bill was lower than expected. It's a great place for a first or second round of drinks. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Mysterious Gourmet Exploration Team in Sapporo. This time, we went on an expedition to Hokkaido. After drinking, we made a little detour. We visited the izakaya "Ajihyakusen" near Sapporo Station. We went down the stairs to the basement. This izakaya has been selected as one of the top 100 izakayas on Tabelog. The neighboring izakaya "Monkichi" was full of young customers, but this place had a more mature atmosphere. We sat at the empty counter seats and looked at the menu. There seemed to be a variety of sake, but I decided to go with a draft beer (tax included 660 yen). The beer here was Sapporo Edelpils. The otoshi (appetizer, tax included 550 yen) was bonito tataki. I also ordered one more fish dish. When I asked for a recommendation, they suggested the mackerel and cured mackerel, so I ordered the cured mackerel (tax included 990 yen). The cured mackerel was just right. With a light drink, the total bill came to 2,000 yen plus tax. If you drink more, it might get a bit expensive. But it was a good old-fashioned izakaya that still retains the Showa era atmosphere.

No matter what you eat or drink here, it's delicious. In particular, the oil-marinated oysters are amazing. Of course, everything else is delicious too. Drinking sake while feeling the seasonality makes you appreciate the greatness of Japan. Sometimes I want to take my time and relax here early.

I visited a popular restaurant that is usually difficult to make a reservation at, but luckily I was able to get one on a weeknight at 6:30pm. The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk west of JR Sapporo Station North Exit, on the basement floor of a building. There was a sign at the entrance saying "Fully Booked Today." Inside, there were counter seats, table seats, and a raised tatami seating area, and it was quite spacious. I ordered a sashimi platter, garlic sausage with monk's garlic, grilled lamb, herring with green onion miso, and chicken karaage. For drinks, I ordered bottled beer, Juyondai sake, and Takarayama sweet potato shochu on the rocks.

During a business trip, I went out drinking with some members of the company and ended up at a famous station-side restaurant with over a hundred years of history! When I called, they said last orders were in 20 minutes and it was non-smoking, but that was fine with me. The atmosphere of the restaurant had a deep, authentic feel that reminded me of something Yoshida Rui would like. The owner had a great personality and almost seemed like a Kansai native. When I asked for recommendations, the immediate response of "Everything" was so cool. Even though it wasn't catered towards tourists, the 10-second hesitation over the appetizer content, like the tarako, was also endearing. In the end, I enjoyed beer and sake (priced as if it would be double in Tokyo, so I wish there was a place like this near my home) and the food was amazing. The salted tarako appetizer, the fresh hoya sashimi, the marinated komai fish, the oyster oil dish, the Thai salted fish, all were exquisite. The name "hundred-year-old restaurant" was no exaggeration. We drank until they closed at 11 PM, although on Tabelog it says they close at 10 PM. I wonder which one is accurate? Anyway, I found a new favorite restaurant.

Located in the basement of the Miyazawa Kogyo Building in Sapporo's Kita Ward, just north of Sapporo Station's north exit, this restaurant is a hidden gem near Yodobashi Camera. Known as "Aji Hyakusen," it was featured in the popular cooking anime "Oishinbo" in Volume 67, showcasing their signature dish - potato stew, which requires advance reservation. The interior features a cozy atmosphere with a kitchen area on the right, counter seats, tables in the center, and raised seating along the walls. The restaurant boasts a wide selection of local sake in a large refrigerator. It is a completely smoke-free environment, making it a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. This review was from a recent sake tasting event after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, with a limited capacity of 20 guests. The menu included a sashimi platter, hatahata rice sushi, onsen tamago, soba seeds, shime saba, sakura trout salt-grilled, and the famous potato stew. The evening ended with tuna and yam over rice, paired with a selection of premium sake brands. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable sake tasting experience, and I look forward to attending again in the future.

A long-established izakaya located about a 5-minute walk from the station. It's a popular place, so reservations are recommended. They have counter seats, tables, and tatami seating, making it easy to choose based on your preference when making a reservation. The initial appetizer was delicious, as expected from a popular spot. The fresh sashimi was also very tasty. We tried simmered dishes and stir-fried dishes as well, but we felt that the prices for individual dishes could have been a bit more reasonable, especially since we didn't order any elaborate dishes.

Credit cards are accepted. I paid with my JAL card. I made a reservation on Monday and visited, but the reservation sign said it was full. It's a great place for drinking, with plenty of dishes that go well with sake. They even had Kuro Ryu Nisemon, a sake that is not easy to find, and it was delicious.

On the first day of my visit to Sapporo, I visited this famous-looking restaurant. I had pre-ordered the specialty "Butter-stewed Potatoes" that was also featured in the manga "Oishinbo." The main focus seemed to be seafood, and I tried a sashimi platter, smelt tempura, shishamo (male and female, one each), oysters and crab innards in oil, and the butter-stewed potatoes. The seafood was indeed delicious, but the prices were a bit high... The shishamo, for example, was ¥660 for the female and ¥550 for the male. Even though they were high-quality, it felt a bit expensive. The butter-stewed potatoes were worth trying for the experience, but not necessarily a must-try. They had a wide selection of sake, so I would recommend it for sake lovers.

Famous people's favorite restaurant☆ Located near Sapporo Station, this place exudes a retro Showa atmosphere within a modern Reiwa setting. Reservations are a must, even on weekdays. Sit in a tatami room, receive a quick oshibori towel, order a beer, and toast with a ceramic cup. The menu is full of delicious dishes that pair well with the sake. The attentive yet not intrusive service, along with the cozy atmosphere, makes you feel at ease. Start with the pumpkin dumplings, then enjoy dishes like mackerel miso daikon, assorted pickles, mushroom tempura, hatahata rice sushi, and simmered kelp. Savor the flavors while sipping on your sake. As a Major Leaguer walks in, it's time to pay the bill. This restaurant, with its lively atmosphere and excellent service, is truly a gem in Sapporo. Delicious. Thank you for the meal.

A popular izakaya called "Ajihyakusen" located on the north side of Sapporo Station. My boss took me there and mentioned that it was also featured in "Oishinbo". We went there without a reservation, but it was almost full even though it was only 6:00 pm on a weekday! It's also listed as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. We ordered the butter-simmered potatoes that were introduced in "Oishinbo", assorted sashimi, shishamo (female), eggplant with miso paste, fried chicken, mushroom tempura, and smelt tempura. The butter-simmered potatoes were surprisingly light and refreshing despite the name, with a gentle flavor of dashi and butter. It seems like it takes a lot of time to make this dish. The sashimi was all fresh and delicious, as well as the eggplant, shishamo, and other fried dishes. The only downside was that the mushroom tempura was a bit too crispy, but everything else was delicious! They have a wide selection of sake, perfect for sake lovers. I'm not a heavy drinker, so I stopped at 3 glasses (I ordered Hitoriki), but with so many delicious snacks, sake is sure to go down smoothly! I understand why it's so popular! Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

We used this place for a business partner gathering. We had beer served in ceramic cups instead of glasses, and the complimentary dish was yam soy sauce pickles. We ordered basic dishes such as rolled omelette, hokke fish sashimi, cold tofu, and zangi. It would go well with sake, but from the third drink onwards, we switched to rock-style sweet potato shochu. It might be better to make a reservation, but we managed fine without one. The seating in the raised tatami area was a bit tough on the knees and hips, but overall it was a good experience.

This is a popular izakaya near Sapporo Station. I sat at the counter and enjoyed the main dish of simmered flounder with some sake. The seasoning was just right, and I enjoyed picking at it. Having only one shishamo felt a bit lonely, but the butter-fried green asparagus was crunchy and fragrant. For drinks, I tried the local Chitose Tsuru first, then followed the recommendation and tried "Mimuro Sugi" from Nara. It was refreshing, fruity, and absolutely delicious. It's difficult to evaluate izakayas, isn't it?

Located in the northwest of Sapporo Station, "Bishu Meishu Aji Hyakusen" was featured on a bar-hopping TV show and also mentioned in a book. When I called to check for availability, I was told that there was space near the entrance, so I headed there. Upon descending to the basement, I was informed that they were fully booked for reservations, but luckily there was a spot available near the entrance. I followed the disinfection protocol and was seated at a counter. I ordered a draft Sapporo Edelpils for 550 yen and was served an appetizer for 715 yen. The sashimi platter for 2200 yen was delicious, featuring mackerel, tuna, squid, scallops, surf clams, and striped jack. I also ordered a hot sake for 990 yen and added a dish of oysters and crab innards in oil for 550 yen, which was very tasty. I couldn't resist trying the raw lamb for 1100 yen and paid with a cashless payment method as the restaurant began to fill up with party reservations. When I inquired about their Saturday business hours, I was informed that they would be open but fully booked. I considered myself lucky once again. My total dining time was 45 minutes.

Today, I decided to go for something light. I went to "Ame Hyakusen" restaurant. The place has a nice atmosphere with around 5 counter seats, table seating, and a raised seating area. I ordered a Sapporo Classic bottled beer, potato salad, real shishamo smelt, and gorgonzola oyster. The potato salad served by the chef was beautifully presented with crispy small fish on top, providing a nice texture. The gorgonzola oyster in oil was impressive, with the gorgonzola and oyster flavors blending well together. I enjoyed it with a bottle of Chitosetsuru sake. The real shishamo smelt was also delicious. Next, I tried the herring with green onion miso, which paired perfectly with the green onion miso, making me crave for more sake, so I had a glass of Niseko sake. The delicious food and drinks left me feeling pleasantly tipsy.
