Toyohira-ku, Hiragishi area. There are shops along the Hiragishi Street. ◇ Business hours 11:00-15:00 17:00-23:00 ◇ Regular holiday Irregular holidays ◇ Credit cards and electronic money payments possible I visited a rare restaurant that specializes in Gejang. They have both Kanjang and Yangnyeom! When I entered the store, I thought it was a compact shop, but it seems they also have a second floor. The service was impressive with high awareness. Now, when I looked at the menu, they first recommended ordering a drink, but huh? Hmmm? Tequila and other shot drinks, Jack Daniel's... not suitable for me with the meal (laughs) Hibiki, Chablis, Veuve Clicquot, although not on the menu, there were also two bottles of Hennessy, making me feel like I came to a high-class Korean pub (laughs). I thought it was a cabaret-related affiliate store, but it seems they have a bar in Susukino. When I looked closely, there was a highball for 400 yen. I felt relieved. However, looking at the food menu, the Gejang I came for was 3480 yen, and the Yangnyeom was even more expensive at 3680 yen. There are many students around here, and some may find it too expensive to order Gejang. I ordered: ◆ Highball (400 yen) It was a regular highball. ◆ Strong Lemon Sour (420 yen) It was delicious, ice-cold. ◆ Gejang (3480 yen) When ordering, I was asked if it was okay that the sauce was shallow, and I hesitated but ordered it. While waiting, I read other reviewers' reviews, and for some reason, rice was on top of the Gejang (sweat). I regretted it thinking I definitely didn't want that, but what was provided was rice served separately, and it even came with Korean seaweed! It was good in terms of quantity, no fishy smell, good freshness, and just the right taste. Delicious! Delicious! ◆ Yangnyeom Chicken (660 yen) I was also curious about Yangnyeom, but I settled for chicken. It was quite delicious. [Overall] There are reasonable drinks and food available, but many people may have the impression that the prices are high based on how the menu is presented. Thank you for the meal!

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant which serves my favorite dish, Kanjan Kejan. I finally got the chance to go there for lunch. The place had a cozy atmosphere with an L-shaped counter, two 2-seater tables, and even a sunken kotatsu table. I ordered the Kanjan Seu, which was shrimp marinated in soy sauce. The shrimp was large and fresh, and I really enjoyed the taste. The meal also came with namul and Korean seaweed, which was packed so I could take it home. The portion of rice seemed a bit small for guys. The soup had a consomme base with a hint of sesame oil. They also had other affordable menu options like jeon and kimbap. The daily set meal included free rice and soup refills for students, as well as a complimentary drink. The place had a Korean vibe with neon signs and a display of Chamisul bottles. The atmosphere was nice, but the BGM was unexpected - it was JPOP, including songs by Utada Hikaru. The staff, especially the baby-faced guy, added to the artistic vibe of the place. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal!

There is a restaurant that opened in June on Hiragishi Street, recommended for Kanjankejan. It's within a 20-minute walk, so it's kind of close by. First, let's start with drinks! I tried to go for the all-you-can-drink option, but was told that beer and makgeolli were not included and cost 1,980 yen each. It feels a bit outdated... The beer was a Super Dry 500ml for 790 yen. It's fine for two people, but it would be nice if they had a 350ml option. We ordered Kanjankejan, pork garlic jeon, and kimchi. The kimchi was on the sour side. At first, the Kanjankejan had a bit of a fishy smell, but you get used to it. There's quite a bit of miso in it... It reminded me of the time I had Kanjankejan at a pro restaurant in Seoul. They didn't have rice in it, and I've never seen it included elsewhere, so I wonder why they put it in... The jeon had a good quality, like a chewy rice cake. I was expecting something more like a chive jeon... Recently, more restaurants are using QR codes for ordering, but with this kind of setup, it's faster to just tell the staff. It's a service model that's far from ideal. I wonder if they can sustain this location and pricing, but I'll try coming back for lunch sometime.

I learned about this restaurant from a YouTuber who mainly introduces new stores in Sapporo. It is located next to Domon, famous for its beef tongue curry, on the Hokkaido Street, and it used to be a tenant for Jiro-style ramen called Ten Jiro. I was not familiar with Korean cuisine, but I had been very interested in Kanjang Gejang for a long time, so I decided to visit. I had seen how Kanjang Gejang was made on a YouTube channel called "Kimagure Cook," so I was very curious. When I entered the restaurant, I found a small layout with a few counter seats and two box seats. There is a menu at the table, but it was a bit difficult to understand the contents just by looking at the text. It is recommended to scan the QR code at the table, as the menu will be displayed with explanations. First, I ordered a Super Dry beer (medium bottle for 790 yen) and Kanjang Gejang with roe (3480 yen). The shell was removed, and the miso was inside the shell, with plenty of garnish spread over the rice. When you crush the legs and body with plenty of roe inside, the flavor comes out thickly. I took a big bite. The chewy and sticky texture of the raw crab was excellent. The sauce with fruits and soy sauce added soaked in well and was delicious. However, raw crab has a unique flavor that can be divisive. Sashimi, which is cut from a live crab and immediately chilled on ice, does not have that distinctive smell, but Kanjang Gejang is a dish that is marinated in sauce for several days, so the smell inevitably comes out. Whether you like that smell or not will depend on personal preference. I also ordered Sundubu (790 yen). It was rich in ingredients such as clams, tofu, and eggs, and had a good volume. It was consistently delicious. The location of the restaurant is along Hokkaido Street, but it is a bit far from the station and may not be considered a prime location. Overall, the cost performance is slightly low. The Super Dry beer in a medium bottle for 790 yen is priced similar to a decent restaurant in Susukino. This niche concept of Korean cuisine + Kanjang Gejang promotion in this location could go either way, with clear success or failure. Being a new store, there are high expectations for its future success. The young, trendy, and handsome male staff member was very friendly and excellent. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I attended a gathering at Dharma Hall on the second floor, a place well-known for Venus Hiya-san, and decided to check out this place afterwards. I wasn't sure if it was open yet, but when I approached the storefront, a young staff member with a Korean wave style welcomed me in. They mentioned that the store had been open for about two weeks. The name of the restaurant suggests that Kejang is recommended. When I asked, they explained that it's rice inside a crab shell. The dish had a satisfying taste and the crab itself was large and impressive. I was captivated by it, and the seasoning was also very good! I look forward to trying out various dishes here as my first stop next time.
