This time, during our trip to Hokkaido, my friend who had never been to Hokkaido before, I planned to treat them to famous Hokkaido dishes such as seafood bowl, Genghis Khan, soup curry, ramen, and Zangi. I made a reservation based on reviews on Tabelog, which was very helpful as it was a Saturday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was smaller than I expected, with only about 3 counter seats and tables. We definitely wouldn't have been able to get in without a reservation. The Zangi came in a plate of 2 pieces, with options of soy sauce, salt, Japanese-style soy sauce, yuzu salt, pickled ginger, etc. Since there were 2 of us, we shared and ordered Japanese-style soy sauce, yuzu salt, and pickled ginger. We also added chicken wings with salt and smashed cucumbers. The cabbage salad appetizer was refillable with delicious dressing, and we even ordered 3 refills. The Zangi was large, with the flavor infused into the meat making it tender and very delicious. With 2 glasses of draft beer and Zangi, we were full and very satisfied when we left. The staff were all very friendly, and I would love to become a regular if I lived in Sapporo. Overall, the Zangi was truly delicious.
