Hokkaido is a wonderful yakiniku restaurant with a concept of using ingredients from the southern part of the prefecture. In addition to yakiniku, there are other recommended dishes that you can enjoy. Above all, the hospitality of the mama (female owner) is fantastic! I definitely want to visit this restaurant again. On this day, I decided to drink until morning with my friends in Susukino! The restaurant was chosen by a friend who is familiar with Sapporo nightlife. The original restaurant we wanted to go to was full, so my friend suggested this restaurant as Plan B and we made a reservation (even though it was just 15 minutes before). The atmosphere was cozy and hidden, making me a bit nervous until we entered the restaurant. After opening the door and stating our reservation name, we were guided to our seats. The atmosphere was neat and tidy, with counter seats available as well. We were greeted by the mama wearing a traditional Japanese apron. The restaurant had a calm and adult-like atmosphere, rather than the typical lively yakiniku restaurant vibe. It was the middle day of a three-day weekend, but the restaurant was not full when we arrived, which was nice. As soon as we sat down, my friend asked if they had set courses available. The mama mentioned that it was difficult to offer a course at that moment due to the last-minute reservation, but my friend insisted on ordering individual items. The mama seemed a bit annoyed, but we were fine with that since we had made the reservation just 15 minutes before. As we looked through the menu, the mama approached us and recommended the 3-item yakiniku set, which she said was a good deal. She also mentioned the Ezoshika (Ezo deer) jingisukan (grilled meat) from Morimachi, which she said was hunted by a famous person from the area. We ended up ordering both items as we were convinced by her recommendation. The dishes arrived promptly. We ordered the Sinkin Beef (3-item set for 2-3 people) for 2,728 yen (tax included), which included kalbi, loin, and lamp meat. The meat quality was quite good, especially the loin which we both really enjoyed. We also tried the Morimachi Ezoshika jingisukan for 1,078 yen (tax included), which was fresh and tender without any gamey taste. It was a unique and delicious dish that we both appreciated. We also ordered the recommended beef tendon stew for 528 yen (tax included), which was served in a black bowl and tasted delicious. We enjoyed our food and drinks, contemplating what to order next. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience at this restaurant.
