If you're a bread lover, you must have heard of this place before. I had been avoiding it from Tokyu Oimachi Line, but when I found out they open early in the morning, I went there on a holiday morning. Although Kuhonbutsu is famous for the Great Buddha of Josenji in a quiet residential area, this shop near the station had become a new landmark in Kuhonbutsu. I could smell the bread near the railroad crossing... (*'▽') When I entered the shop, I saw a variety of bread displayed, and like a live kitchen, I could see the craftsmen kneading the bread perfectly. The staff were all lively and energetic, making me somehow buy more bread than usual! Croissant A.O.P ¥324: A very beautiful brown croissant made with French fermented butter A.O.P, the cut section looks even with uniform layers, giving a delicious anticipation. When you bite into the crispy part, the taste of wheat spreads firmly, and the outside crispy texture and the airy yet very fragrant inside make it a very high-quality croissant. A definite repeat. Wiener ¥324: A bread wrapped with rough-ground wiener, potatoes, and cheese, baked together with cheese. The bread with potatoes has a chewy texture, combined with the rough-ground wiener, creating a substantial and delicious taste. Prosciutto and Camembert ¥734: A perfect combination of French prosciutto, Camembert cheese, and butter sandwiched together. I toasted it a bit, but maybe it was better not to. A bit of butter dripped (^^; The high-quality taste of prosciutto and Camembert with a chewy baguette will make you smile involuntarily. It's clear that they use quality ingredients for the sandwich fillings as well. Corn Cream ¥410: Sold in hollow cornets, they fill the cream when you order. The layers of the cornet were beautiful, so it was confirmed that it was definitely delicious, but when I tried it, the cream was very firm, and even after about an hour, it remained dry. The inside cream was a milky and rich type, but personally, I prefer to feel a bit more like fresh cream. Still, it's my favorite. Baguette ¥324: A baguette with a strong scent and taste of wheat, requiring some effort to chew due to its firm texture. Today's Cream Bread ¥486: When I asked for a sweet bread recommendation, I was recommended this by the staff. They apparently sandwich and bake various bread with different fillings on that day, and when I visited, there were two types, so I chose the smaller one. The custard cream was rich and delicious. The latest accounting style automatically reads the bread's barcode and displays the amount. Viva AI accounting (*'▽') You see it at Uniqlo, but it would be great if bakeries could do this too. When I was young, I worked part-time at a bakery and memorized and calculated everything in my head. It's a bit far from my house, but it's a very cheerful bakery. The chef seems to be someone who made a name for himself as a representative of Japan in the world bread competition, but even if you don't know his background, it's a wonderful bakery. Let's keep up the good work~

On Sunday morning, when I arrived at 6:55 am, there were already 5 groups waiting. Once the store opened, there were about 10 groups waiting behind us... According to the staff, early mornings on weekends are the busiest. They have a wide variety of bread right from the opening, and the staff are cheerful, refreshing, and provide top-notch hospitality! I bought about 10 items as gifts. The cream-filled croissant and chocolate cream bread were incredibly delicious! I will definitely be returning!

There were various types of bread displayed even during snack time. It seems like they bake them regularly, as there were freshly baked bread available. I think you can enjoy it anytime you visit. The croissant is a classic, along with today's freshly baked cream bread. The bread was soft and delicious.

The bread here is delicious. "Comme’N" is a bakery that won the overall championship for the first time in Japan in 2019 at the Mondial du Pain, a prestigious international bread competition held every two years. They have moved from Takasaki City in Gunma Prefecture to Kuhonbutsu in Setagaya, Tokyo, and opened on August 19, 2020. Their croissants are great, with a natural taste that is not too heavy or buttery. The bakery offers a unique taste that differs from traditional Japanese bakeries, with a French touch in their techniques. Their bread-making skills are truly top-notch, maintaining the essence of French baking while catering to Japanese preferences. Located in the area between Kuhonbutsu and Jiyugaoka, this bakery is gaining popularity among locals who are familiar with a variety of foods in the neighborhood. It's a must-visit bakery among the many good bakeries near Jiyugaoka Station. I'll try their meringues next time.

I heard that there is the world's best bread artisan here, so I went. It's a short walk from Kitasenzoku Station, but surprisingly far from Jiyugaoka. The bread display was gorgeous, and the staff were very friendly. When I asked for recommendations, I heard that the croissant and cheese bread were good, so I ended up buying both (laughs). The croissant was not greasy as usual, the fluffy part inside didn't have oil soaked in, and it had an elegant taste. The outside was crispy and the inside was fluffy. The dough was neatly layered like mille-feuille, and when I ate other bread, I could clearly see the high level of skill in this bread. I thought, "Ah, this is a real croissant!" (laughs)

I revisited the restaurant after last week because the bucket and strawberry campagne were the best tastes of my life. The strawberry campagne costs 600 yen and it seems that they just added strawberry jam to the regular campagne, removing the acidity and making it easier to eat. I also like the regular campagne, but it feels like a different thing. The G bucket costs 350 yen, which is just too cheap, I would definitely buy it even if the price goes up a bit. The thin skin and chewy interior are irresistible. Just these two items alone are worth going out of your way to buy.

I visited the restaurant almost right after it opened. I often walk along this street, but I had no idea this place existed. For more details, check out youtube.com/@butakoma. In conclusion, when I held the bread, it was still warm! Isn't that amazing? I ate it right away (^^) All the breads are delicious. However, the dough of each bread is a bit on the sweet side. That's why I didn't give a rating of 3.6 or above. They also have five types of baguettes, and I bought one of them. Tonight, it's a party of comparing the baguette I bought yesterday in Yoyogi with this one.

The staff at this bakery will grab the bread for you, so it's okay to buy a lot. It can be stressful if you have to grab the bread yourself and can't fit everything on the tray. When I visited around 10 a.m. on a Saturday, it took a while for each person, so there were about 10 people in line. Each bread is elaborate, so it's best to ask the staff. Even just looking at the cream bread, it's hard to tell the difference, but apparently there are three types. I will have it for lunch later. The recommended bread is the strawberry ciabatta, which is said to not be sour. P.S. The strawberry ciabatta and the milk French bread from Common were amazing. The taste is on par with the extremely popular bakeries in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

It's about a 10-minute walk from Jiyugaoka...right? Kuhonbutsu Station is right there~ I went there on a weekday at 11:30~ There were about 2 groups inside the store. When I was looking at the products, a staff member greeted me brightly as I went to pick up bread. A new style! I was curious because of the word of mouth. I bought 2 loaves of strawberry and white chocolate brioche for ¥880, cheese brioche for ¥550, baguette for ¥300, Comun-style milk France for ¥380, Croque-Monsieur for ¥480, and a plastic bag for ¥5 at the register. The staff member who helped me at the register said she likes the strawberry bread and enjoys baking and eating it herself~ (^ ^) She happily said that it's delicious as it is, so when I asked if it's better to bake it, she recommended trying it a bit fresh because it's the most delicious that way. I left the store, tore a piece off on the roadside, and ate it! Haha It was so delicious~!!!! I ate quite a bit while walking, then sat on a bench and quickly ate half of it (*´ー`*) I want you to try this taste. The dough is chewy, the outside is crispy, and it has a strawberry flavor with a slightly chunky texture. The white chocolate is subtly sweet and delicious, more than I expected! By the way, it was also delicious when eaten after cooling down!

Arrived at 15:40, there are many types of bread from hard to sweet, including [Strawberry and White Chocolate Bread] which you absolutely must buy!! It's incredibly delicious!!! I regret buying only half as the taste exceeded my imagination. If you take it home, you should reheat it!! The crust is crispy, crunchy, and makes a nice sound, while the crumb is unbelievably fluffy and chewy!! The sweet scent of strawberries floats gently. The strawberries are milky. There are strawberry bits in the crumb, and when you chew well, you can feel the strawberry bits in the fluffy texture. Just looking at the cross-section, I thought there wasn't much white chocolate inside, but I was completely wrong!! Finely divided white chocolate is evenly distributed, and you can taste the white chocolate no matter where you bite!! Really a great buy!!! It was a wonderful bread to encounter! [Today's Cream Pan] The almond chips on top have a fragrant and appetizing smell. The custard cream is generously sandwiched, and although the smell is very sweet, it's not overly sweet when you eat it, just the right amount of sweetness. With this custard cream, I feel like I could eat as much as I want. The bread flavor is subtle, allowing you to fully enjoy the cream and almond chips. The bread is on the drier side, likely compensated by the cream. It's very delicious!!! [Cranberry Raisin] The tangy cranberries are addictive! They are juicy and have a rich flavor. [Raisin and Raisin and Raisin] Contains 3 types of raisins: red raisin, green raisin, and sultana raisin. The raisins are large, spread evenly throughout. When you chew, the sweetness of the raisins spreads in your mouth. The outside is crispy, while the inside is fluffy. You can enjoy the various flavors of raisins. [Matcha and White Chocolate] A faint aroma of deep matcha and the sweetness of white chocolate from the bread. The outside seems slightly hard, but the inside is a bit dry, lacking moisture, so it's recommended to eat with a drink. The white chocolate is generously filled inside, and the matcha flavor is deep and rich! The combination of matcha and white chocolate is not too strong, maintaining a good balance of sweetness and depth. [Fig and Nuts] A hard bread with concentrated sweetness of fig inside! The outside is crispy! There weren't too many figs inside, but I think it's just right to savor the bread flavor.

I have purchased from this place several times before, and this time I stopped by while running errands nearby. At the entrance, there was a booth for the same store's meringue sweets. Back then, they had not only classic products like croissants and deli pastries but also seasonal limited-time bread, which was nice. This time, I only used the meringue shop, but personally, I think cheese-based and croissants are delicious! However, I would be happier if the bread was displayed not naked... I just can't help but worry about things like dryness.

Visited a new favorite bakery I wanted to try. I bought the following items: Baguette ¥350, Croissant ¥300, Chocolate Baton ¥300, Matcha and White Chocolate ¥300, Apple and Walnut ¥300, Milk France ¥430. The regular type of baguette was sold out, so I bought a refreshing type from the available options. It was surprisingly delicious. I want to try the regular type next time. It had a good wheat aroma and crispy texture. Not too chewy, which was nice. The croissant was crispy on the outside and soft inside. The Chocolate Baton had plenty of chocolate, and the dough wasn't too sweet, making it delicious. The Matcha and White Chocolate had a perfect balance of matcha bitterness and white chocolate. The Apple and Walnut had a firm dough texture. I want to stock up and freeze them. It's nice that there's no cinnamon. The Milk France was a new experience for me; I might prefer a softer dough.

I visited around 1 pm on Saturday. The exterior and interior are both stylish with a modern atmosphere. In addition to bread, they also sell meringue sweets. I bought a yakisoba bread and carrot bread. I had the yakisoba bread right away. It had a rich yakisoba flavor, more like soy sauce and dashi than sauce, and the bread with red pickled ginger was well balanced and delicious. It's worth the 380 yen. I reheated the carrot bread the next morning. It's not too sweet, a nice change from usual sweet bread. Definitely worth a try for those interested.

This is one of the restaurants I've been curious about for a long time! It was easy to get there, just a short walk from Kyuhachibusa, and about 10 minutes to Jiyugaoka on the way back! Great accessibility! I think it's a good place to buy souvenir bread (*´▽`*) It was around 5 p.m. on Saturday, and there were quite a few bread options to choose from! There were 2-3 people in line, but we were served quickly, and the staff helped us choose bread without rushing. It's a minor detail, but I was impressed by the design of the cash register. It had a futuristic feel☜ All the bread I bought was delicious, and I'm looking forward to going back!

When you enter the store, you will be overwhelmed by the variety of breads. The display conveys volume and excitement skillfully. The youthful smiles and energy of the staff are dazzling. They call out to you in order when you are in line, so you can tell them what you want and they will get it for you. They are kind even if you take a long time to decide. I chose two types of bread: cream cheese and apricot sandwich, and vegetable bread. For the cream cheese and apricot sandwich, there are secretly three different combinations, including cranberry, apple, and something else I forgot. Which one do you prefer? they asked. It seems like they accidentally created variations while making it, which is kind of fun. I'll go with cranberry. I took it home and when I ate it, the more I chewed, the more delicious and flavorful it became... The bread itself is, of course, delicious, but the skill in combining ingredients is truly remarkable.

I bought prosciutto and camembert sandwich, baguette, shokupan (Japanese bread), cherry blossom sake, curry bread, cream bread, croissant, and almond croissant. A friend recommended the shokupan as delicious (they switched from high-end shokupan to this one and said they buy 8 loaves each time), so I visited. Other than the shokupan, I ended up buying various items, but indeed, the shokupan is delicious! The prosciutto and camembert sandwich is too tasty! I couldn't finish everything in one day, so I tasted a bite of each before putting them in the freezer. Everything is delicious!! The baguette paired with pâté bought from a pâtisserie is just amazing (^∇^)

I came to a stylish bakery in Kuhonbutsu. Various types of bread are lined up in this lovely shop, which gets me excited. The display by Comun is beautiful, and they are skilled at presenting the bread. I really like the bread and the atmosphere of the shop. In Tokyo, it's scorching hot with no escape from the strong sunlight. Thinking about the time it would take to get home, I gave up on my favorite "Baguette sandwich with prosciutto and Camembert." Today's purchases: - Strawberry Campagne 1/2 ¥300 - Cream cheese cranberry ¥350 - Pandu ¥320 - Fig Noa ¥320 - Hojicha and black beans ¥300 - Rustique AOP ¥280 - Today's cream bread ¥450 The checkout was also enjoyable! The camera automatically scans the bread itself for payment, and my friend who was with me exclaimed, "What's this? It's so cute!"

This is a super popular bakery in front of Kuhonbutsu Station. It may be crowded, but the wait is not long, so I recommend being patient and waiting a bit. When you enter the stylish store, the staff will assist you individually and give you a number tag for payment. I bought a Croissant au Amande, Curry Bread, Hot Dog, and Cream Bread. The Croissant au Amande has almonds sprinkled on top, providing a wonderful texture and aroma. Inside, there are large chestnuts and cream, which tasted really delicious. The Curry Bread and Hot Dog have excellent curry roux and hot dog sauce, pairing well with the bread and being soft. The Cream Bread has delicious custard cream and a perfect fluffy texture, which I also really enjoyed.

A delicious and diverse bakery. I want to go again if I have the chance. I tried a piece each of the olive and cheese bread at room temperature, and the olive bread was delicious. The rice flour baguette also had a subtle mochi-like texture. It seems like the impression would change if eaten warm.

Comme'n Meringue, which had a pre-opening from 7/11. I heard that the grand opening is on 7/12, but when I passed by today, they were already open, so I decided to stop by. They mentioned that the meringue was created to effectively use up leftover egg whites from bread making. I purchased the ◉black tea◉ pistachio flavor. While they mentioned that their meringue is not overly sweet compared to others, perhaps due to the overall sweetness of their bread, I still found it a bit too sweet. A little disappointing.

Just a minute away from Kuhonbutsu Station. It seems to be one of the 100 famous shops introduced in a product guide on a TV show called "Matsuko's Unknown World". The name of the restaurant reflects the owner's feelings towards their former master. Originally, the shop was located in Takasaki. They also won the overall championship at the Mondial du Pain World Competition, the first Japanese to do so. It's an amazing place. Baguette for 350 yen is delicious, great with wine. Anpan for 320 yen is nothing special. Milk France for 380 yen, no special notes. Gorgonzola for 300 yen is reasonably priced considering it has Gorgonzola. It has a good texture and goes well with red wine. I want to visit again for its deliciousness. Thank you for the meal.
