Today I came to Asahikawa! On the second day, I first visited a popular old-fashioned shop that represents "Asahikawa Ramen," and then moved to Shin-Asahikawa. The second place I visited was "Ramen Specialty Himawari," which I had been curious about! "Ramen Specialty Himawari" is a popular ramen shop established in 1981, known as the origin of the "Hormone Ramen" that is spreading in Asahikawa. Personally, as I checked the ramen situation in Asahikawa, I became very curious about the rumored "Mormen" at this shop, and I definitely wanted to try it during this expedition. The shop only operates during lunch hours, and once they run out, they close, so I made sure to arrive early to avoid any impact on my plans. I decided to visit the shop early in the morning and then head straight to the shop before it opened. The shop is located on the 1st floor of a residential building, with a red eave and the words "Mormen Ramen" giving it a cool vibe. Today, I arrived around 10 am, about an hour before opening, and it was pretty empty. The staff handed me a paper number tag and showed me the menu, and I ordered the Mormen Spicy (1050 yen) that I had decided on from my research. It seems that most customers visit by car, as they were asked to provide their car number when receiving the number tag. Around 10:30 am, customers started arriving, and by 10:50 am, the first round of seating was already full. Around 11:15 am, there was even a line of cars waiting in the parking lot, showing the shop's popularity. While waiting in the waiting area, the staff kindly let me inside as I did not arrive by car, which I appreciated. The interior of the shop had a decent size, with a retro feel of a public diner, offering table seats, raised seats, and counter seats. The shop opened promptly at 11 am, and after a few minutes of waiting, the Mormen Spicy arrived. The Hormone Vegetable Stir-fry, lightly browned and appealingly arranged, was served with a thick layer of spicy soup. The hot and sticky soup, a mix of pork bone and seafood, had a sweet and spicy flavor, with a hint of miso base, making it very tasty. The Katou ramen's slightly curly medium-thin noodles had a light firmness and a good chewiness, perfectly complementing the soup. The Hormone Vegetable Stir-fry had a spicy miso stir-fry flavor, with tender and crispy grilled hormone adding a delicious aroma. The vegetable stir-fry, mainly consisting of bean sprouts, onions, leeks, carrots, and wood ear mushrooms, added a crunchy texture that paired well with the hormone and noodles. The bamboo shoots had a crunchy texture and a good balance of saltiness, serving as a nice accent. The chopped green onions provided a light and crunchy texture as a good finishing touch. Finally, after savoring the remaining soup, the sweet and spicy flavor stood out, making it addictive, especially with the grilled vegetables, creating a unique and delicious taste.
