When you hear the name "Gusto," what comes to mind for you? For me, it's the image of Western food like hamburgers. As I was browsing through the "Gusto" website, I came across information about their current "Recommended Gourmet Fair for Beef" featuring dishes such as steak, spaghetti, and even Tianjin rice! With locations all over the country, this family restaurant offers a wide variety of menu options including Western, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine. This time, I was intrigued by the Tianjin rice and decided to head to the restaurant. In fact, it's been about 10 years since I last had a meal at Gusto! I did have a parfait at the Chitose store about 2 years ago, but other than dessert items, I hardly remember what I ordered (laughs). It was a holiday, so the restaurant was bustling with families with children, students studying, couples, and more. Once seated, I ordered the "Crab Ankake Tianjin Rice (¥714)" as planned. My companion ordered the "Margherita Pizza (¥659)" and the "Tamago Meat Doria (¥549)." Our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. The Margherita pizza was topped with mozzarella cheese, basil sauce, cheese, and tomato sauce. The pizza had a surprisingly crispy and fragrant crust, a chewy texture, and the cheese stretched well! The cheese was so rich that the flavor spread in the mouth even after just one bite, reminiscent of authentic Italian restaurants! Then, my Tianjin rice arrived a few minutes later. It had a modern twist on the traditional omurice, with a generous amount of sauce covering the fluffy egg and topped with a small but noticeable crab. The creamy egg mixed well with the rich crab-flavored sauce, and it was delicious! The sweetness and saltiness balanced each other out, keeping the flavor interesting. The crispy green onions and tender crab added more depth to the dish, making it truly enjoyable. The rice was not sticky or dry, with no clumps, and did not interfere with the flavor of the egg on the outside, making it easy to eat. Since I don't have much experience eating Tianjin rice, I can't find the right words to describe it, but I can simply say it was delicious (laughs). If I visit Gusto again, I would like to try the classic doria or pasta, or maybe one of their limited-time menu items. Thank you for the meal.
