Heading to a client meeting, I visited Spanky, a Chinese soba restaurant that my colleague had been curious about. It was my first visit, so I ordered the basic shoyu-based Chinese soba with an ajitama (flavored egg). The owner runs the place alone, so even if there are empty seats, you can't sit until the owner cleans up. You also can't pay until the owner finishes preparing the food. Be prepared for a wait if it's crowded, as it may take some time from seating to being served. I wish they had a ticket machine system at least... Anyway, after a short wait, the bowl arrived. First impressions were good. I took a sip of the soup... it seemed a bit fatty but not overwhelming. Delicious! Now for the noodles... thin straight noodles, are they made with whole wheat flour? Delicious! The taste is completely to my liking. Furthermore, I tried the garlic and sansho pepper provided on the table with a spoonful. Oh! This is delicious! I couldn't resist. If I didn't have plans to meet people that day, I would have added a lot more. I definitely want to eat here again.

I went to Penny Lane 24 for a live show and stopped by before the show. I used to live around here and it's been about 5 years since I last visited. Time flies. It was a hot day and I knew I would sweat at the live show, so I chose the Chilled Niboshi Ramen for 800 yen, which was displayed on the menu. My husband had the Warm Shoyu Niboshi Ramen for 700 yen. I eat chilled ramen but I haven't had chilled ramen much... I wonder what it's like. When the ramen arrived, I saw a clear soup with carefully peeled cherry tomatoes and prosciutto on top. Ah, so prosciutto instead of chashu. The soup was chilled and refreshing. I could taste the bitterness of the niboshi in the first bite, but it didn't bother me as I continued eating. Maybe it's a vegetable-based fat since animal fat solidifies when chilled. It was delicious and refreshing. The noodles had a nice chewy texture. Thin noodles, just the way I like it. The tomatoes and menma matched perfectly. The menma was soft~ I traded with my husband and also tried the warm shoyu niboshi ramen, which was also delicious. Thank you for the meal~

Backfat Shoyu Ramen I stopped by on my way back from cycling at the Sapporo Racecourse. This place caught my eye as it is located near the Third Tohro, which I visited recently. They are open continuously on weekends, so it's convenient that I can visit between 3-5pm. When I arrived, it was unfortunate timing as it was full, so I had to wait for about 15 minutes. After that, it was not crowded, but since they only have one staff member, it might get busy and require a wait. Now, onto the ramen. I was craving a backfat shoyu ramen, and despite the hot and humid weather, I wanted something hot. As soon as the bowl arrived, the aroma of dried bonito filled the air, increasing my anticipation. The soup was not as rich as I expected, but it had a perfect balance of flavors and was incredibly delicious. The refined soup made with dried bonito and kelp, combined with the backfat, hit the spot for me personally. The noodles were straight and thin, made by Sagamiya, and the surface tension allowed the soup to cling to them, making it tasty. I think it's incredibly cheap for 800 yen. Next time, I want to try the summer limited cold ramen. Noodles: Sagamiya Seimen

This ramen shop is located between Kinugasa and Nijūyonken. They offer both dried fish and chicken broth ramen. I chose the cold dried fish ramen on this day. The cold soup was flavorful with toppings such as tomato, prosciutto, char siu, and menma. The sweet tomato paired well with the soup and it was delicious. The noodles had a good chewiness even when cold, which was enjoyable. Personally, I really liked this ramen as a cold dish. I am curious about their hot ramen and ginger ramen, so I would like to visit this shop again.

My favorite broth for ramen is chicken broth, followed by pork bone broth, but sometimes I feel like having seafood broth. I thought adding lard might make the fish broth less bitter, but it didn't work (lol). The seasoned egg was tasty, but it was cold, probably taken directly from the fridge into the bowl. I still don't like fish broth... The prices at this place are reasonable. The cost performance is good.

I had the backfat and dried fish ramen at Spanky-san for the first time in a while. It cost 800 yen plus 120 yen for a large serving. It was light and delicious. There is parking for 2 cars next to the shop, and it seems there is also a parking lot for light vehicles a little further away. The prices are reasonable, and it seems like a good restaurant.

Sapporo City Nishi Ward 24-ken area. It is a popular shop, but I have a bad impression from my previous visit. It is run by a single person, but they move very efficiently and show impressive skills. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with dried fish (700 yen). I thought I had ordered chicken soup last time, so I asked for dried fish this time, but it turned out to be dried fish shoyu again (sweat). 【Soup】The shoyu flavor has depth, with a strong taste of dried fish. However, as someone who doesn't particularly like dried fish, I found the taste a bit challenging. I'm sorry. 【Noodles】Medium-thin straight noodles. The hydration level is normal, and they are on the firmer side. They have a good chewy texture and you can taste the flavor of the wheat, which is not bad. 【Chashu】Thinly sliced large chashu. It doesn't have a particularly strong meaty flavor, and the taste is a bit on the mild side. 【Menma】Menma with a soy sauce flavor. It has a crunchy texture, but the overall taste is not great, it's kind of mediocre. 【Green Onions】They seem watery, maybe because they were soaked in water. 【Overall】I regret that my ordering mistake affected my evaluation. Perhaps if I had ordered salt or chicken, the evaluation would have been different. For me, there was nothing particularly good about this place. Thank you for the meal.

I had the dried sardine broth ramen (soy sauce flavor). This bowl might divide opinions with its strong dried sardine aroma and bitterness. The gentle soy sauce flavored soup paired with plenty of pork fat coating the firm thin noodles is delicious. The moist chashu is also tasty. The owner is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant.

It was a fish-based broth. The menu had chicken soup and Nipo dashi, but I chose the fish-based one since it was listed as animal-free. The noodles were thin and paired well with the broth. The broth was light but surprisingly flavorful. I quite liked it and thought it would be great to use the next day. Thank you for the meal!

Spanky's, one of the closest ramen shops to my house. Despite having Fukuya, a one-coin ramen shop nearby, Spanky's always seems to be full. The small parking lot with only two spaces is often full, which shows that the shop is popular among locals. The ramen is a light and refreshing flavor that never gets old. Even after finishing the whole bowl, there's no guilt. What's also impressive is that the owner manages everything alone. Watching them work, you can feel the craftsmanship. I would love to master my work like that as well.

The parking lot was small and I had been avoiding this restaurant, but I finally visited due to its delicious reputation. It was around 12 pm on a Saturday, and I was able to eat at the counter. I ordered extra chashu for 900 yen. The ramen had a beautiful appearance with a large chashu and noodles that were smooth and firm. Thank you for the meal!

The balance of dried bonito broth and soy sauce is excellent, making it a very addictive bowl. The quality of this bowl for only 700 yen is too cheap. It may be a bit inconvenient to access as it is located between 24-ken Station and Kotoni Station on the subway, but it is definitely worth a visit.

The chicken-based ramen was truly delicious. After leaving the shop, I noticed a popular shop that I had visited several times before a little further down the street towards Kotoni. I decided to visit again for a second meal. It was my first time visiting Spanky in a while. There were a few seats available, so I sanitized my hands and sat at the counter. The owner, who was working alone, was busy preparing orders for the previous customers. Despite the workload, he took my order for the ginger soy sauce ramen promptly. The owner also handled the payment, and it seemed quite challenging to manage everything alone. However, my bowl of ramen arrived at the counter in about 6 minutes. The soup in the bowl, which looked like a mortar, had a noticeable amount of ginger floating in it. When I took a sip, the spicy kick of ginger hit me. While this was not bad, I couldn't quite grasp the taste of the base soup. The straight noodles, cooked with less water, complemented the soup well, but I felt that the soup's flavor could be better appreciated without the noodles. The texture of the noodles was just right, and they were delicious. The chashu, which had been a concern for me in the past, was slightly different this time with two thin slices. They were not overly fatty and had a slightly sweet taste, making them quite tasty. This is what I like. The thick bamboo shoots had the same delicious flavor. In conclusion, the ramen has become tastier than before. However, in terms of the ginger ramen, I personally feel that half the amount of ginger would be better. If it were a regular ramen, it would easily score in the 4-point range.

Spunky's back fat ramen (soy sauce) for 750 yen. Add chashu noodles for an extra 200 yen, and flavored egg for 50 yen. It's been a while since I visited Spunky. I ordered the soy sauce ramen with back fat this time, as it was missing last time. It was delicious as always, but the soup had a strong bitterness from the bonito flakes. The garlic and sansho pepper seasoning, as usual, was amazing for changing the flavor. Thank you for the meal!

This is my first visit. I was lucky to find a parking spot available. Is "spanky" supposed to mean brave? I chose the soy sauce-flavored dried fish ramen. You can also choose a salt flavor. It costs 650 yen! There is also back fat available, but I chose the normal option. The bamboo shoots were thick. The chashu pork was slightly sweet. The noodles were straight and smooth. The soup was well-balanced, with a mild saltiness, and I finished it all. "You're getting too much salt," they said. The dried fish flavor was just right, making the soup quite well done. The bowl was shallow, which I liked. It reminded me of Eifukucho Daishoken. Next time, I'll try the salt flavor. I wish they would provide wooden chopsticks instead of slippery plastic ones.

Winter limited ginger soy sauce ramen It's Saturday afternoon, but the parking lot is empty and I easily entered the restaurant. In winter, I always crave ginger ramen. The plenty of ginger has a direct warming effect. Adding garlic and sansho pepper makes it even better!! Of course, I finished every drop of the broth.

I entered the shop a little after 11 o'clock and smelled the aroma of dried fish, raising my expectations. After some hesitation, I ordered the Chashu Men with pork backfat dried fish ramen. It arrived in about 5 minutes, topped with clams for a nice presentation. The Chashu covered the entire surface. When I lifted it, the soup had a noticeable dried fish aroma and the richness of the backfat gave it a creamy texture, transforming the lightness into creaminess. I finished it quickly, leaving a bit of soup. I added garlic, sansho pepper paste for a flavor change - the punch of garlic and the aroma of sansho pepper. Next time, I want to try adding it when the noodles are still there. Thank you for the meal.

Karanibo soy sauce ramen with a spicy flavor, topped with seasoned egg and green onions. The broth is flavored with Sichuan pepper, garlic, and sansho pepper. It's not very spicy, but you start sweating while eating it. It's perfect for warming up on a cold day. The ramen was so good that the restaurant was packed at lunchtime today.

Ginger soy sauce ramen with plenty of char siu, limited edition for winter 2022. Loads of ginger and garlic with a kick of sansho pepper to make you sweat. Warms up your body and tastes amazing. Make sure to finish all the soup. Added extra char siu because it's the new year. The restaurant was packed with customers even while I was eating. On cold days, everyone craves for hot soup.

This is a ramen shop that opened after the closure of a previous shop called Suzumori (formerly known as Shikaoi Ramen), due to the elderly age of the owner. Suzumori had a taste that I liked, so I was very disappointed when I visited and saw a note saying it had closed. It had been several years since I last visited. The new shop had more menu options compared to when it first opened. The ramen was delicious back then, but it was even more delicious now. I was satisfied.
