On a certain holiday, I had been waiting for the perfect timing for my mother's birthday celebration at a small sushi restaurant located in Kitaku Arakawa. The restaurant has limited opening days and is run by a private owner. There is a parking space next to the restaurant where about 3 cars can be parked. Upon entering the restaurant, which has been beautifully renovated from a traditional Japanese living room, I found a warm and inviting atmosphere with 3 tables and a few seats at the counter. The place was bustling with customers coming and going, with the TV playing a daytime show in the background. I had pre-ordered the most expensive item on the menu, "Tanukifuku (¥2300 per serving)," as it was a special occasion. When the dish arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by its generous portion. The sushi looked delicious, and indeed, it was! The sushi rice was slightly larger than average, with a mild vinegar taste that complemented the toppings well. There were 15 pieces of sushi, including 3 types of tuna, each with its own unique flavor, plump scallops, flavorful salmon, thick sea bream, tender and juicy surf clam, succulent crab meat, perfectly seasoned mackerel, tender abalone, meaty yellowtail, large salmon roe, rich sea urchin, and fluffy tamagoyaki. I had also ordered an additional dish of "Tuna Collar (¥1000)," which was absolutely amazing! The combination of rich tuna meat and flavorful oil was a hit with my parents, who were already full from the meal. We also enjoyed a sweet chawanmushi with crab, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, corn, and shrimp, followed by a delicious broth made from the shrimp heads. Overall, my parents were very happy with the meal, and I am sure we will visit this restaurant again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.

We asked Tanukifuku-san to provide sushi for our family birthday party. It's always delicious, but this time it was even better! We really enjoyed it a lot this time too.

The lunch set with delicious tuna nigiri was very appealing!! Tamifuku offers two lunch sets, one for 800 yen and another for 1000 yen. Reservations are required in advance for this restaurant, but it is worth it as they carefully select and prepare their ingredients. The quality and skill level may vary, but the fresh and delicious sushi is a safe bet. Tamifuku has a cozy atmosphere with a homey feel, decorated with kokeshi dolls and wooden folk crafts. There were two groups of four customers dining in and two customers for takeout, showing that the restaurant is popular among locals. The fatty tuna nigiri had a rich and smooth texture, with a strong umami flavor and good value for money. The tender and flavorful sea bream nigiri was a standout. The lean tuna nigiri was of high quality, with a delicious red meat flavor. The salmon nigiri had a perfect balance of fat and sweetness. The octopus nigiri had a slightly sweet sauce, enhancing the octopus flavor. The squid nigiri was long and easy to eat, with a sweet taste. The sweet shrimp nigiri was a classic favorite. The cod roe nigiri was simple but tasty. The gunkan sushi included ikura, tobiko, and minced tuna, all with a delicious taste and texture. The natto roll was unique and flavorful. The chawanmushi contained small shrimp, chicken, and scallop roe, with a nice seafood flavor. The miso soup with shrimp head was well-seasoned. The restaurant has a cozy home-style setup with a small counter and a few tables, creating a relaxed and casual dining experience. ☆Hokkaido Travel Diary☆ 2015.9.20-22 ☆ Day 1 ☆ This year's Silver Week, I enjoyed a trip to Hokkaido with my friends. On the first day, our friends took us to a sushi restaurant called "Tanukifuku," which seemed to be a local hidden gem. The sushi kept coming one after another, and you could tell they were all fresh. The scallops were firm and chewy, much better than popular sushi places in Ibaraki. Everything was delicious, especially the chawanmushi with corn. After the meal, our friends kindly dropped us off at the hotel, concluding our first day of enjoying Hokkaido's gourmet sushi. [Sushi Restaurant Tanukifuku] ~ Takoyaki Rifuku ~ It's been years since I had sushi for lunch and when I finally looked it up, I found out that they started a takoyaki shop ('ω') I'm curious about this place too, so I'll go check it out. Takoyaki is made to order and takes about 10-15 minutes to cook, so it's recommended to call ahead to order. Well... if you don't mind waiting, then it's not a problem. I ordered takoyaki and shaved ice! Feels like a festival♪ [Shaved Ice] They also serve shaved ice, so I ordered two flavors: strawberry and sweet beans. I chose the one I haven't tried before. It was topped with condensed milk, ice cream, and sweet beans. It had a gentle and delicious taste. I would love to have it again! It was perfect to have the shaved ice while waiting for the takoyaki. [Takoyaki] The takoyaki was the classic style with sauce. It came in a large size with 8 pieces, topped with plenty of bonito flakes and seaweed. It took a bit of time to get it home, but it was delicious and piping hot (｡･ω･｡)♪

I made a reservation for New Year's sushi and visited for lunch.

My family gathered together, so we had sushi tonight! 😊

As the weekend approaches, I always crave the delicious sushi from Tanukifuku-san with great cost performance. I enjoyed it very much today as well. Thank you for the meal.
