The convenience of being directly connected to the station: The location under the elevated structure of Chitose Station offers great accessibility. For those who just arrived in Chitose and want to have a drink and food right away, this place is perfect. It is spacious, so you can often get in without a reservation. In the case of Chitose, the entertainment district is about a 10-minute walk from the station, so this izakaya is convenient for those who want to stay near the station.

There is no standout menu with the perfect balance, but this izakaya offers seasonal and limited-time menus, making it accessible to everyone with its wide variety of dishes. As it is a well-known chain restaurant, I will skip further details. Its biggest strength is its location under the Chitose Station overpass. Additionally, its sister restaurant "Sennen no Utage" is right next door, making it convenient to catch a train home after dining.

Under the JR Chitose Station viaduct, there is a restaurant called "Shirakiya". Next to it is a sister store called "Sennen no Utage". The concepts of the two are different, with Shirakiya offering a variety of classic dishes in private rooms, while Sennen no Utage focuses on Japanese cuisine like tofu hot pot. For a limited time, they are offering an amazing 5-piece sashimi platter with large, sweet shrimp and other high-quality items like mackerel and salmon. I won't go into detail about the well-known restaurant, but I can say that their current limited-time menu is fantastic.

Located right under the elevated structure of Chitose Station, this place has an outstanding location. It's near my house, so I often stop by for dinner. Although it's empty these days due to the current situation, it's usually a popular spot that's always crowded. The photo shows the Marutai Ramen with char siu, green onions, and bamboo shoots. It's so delicious that you wouldn't think it's instant ramen.

"Stable Menu: Normally we often use the neighboring private room 'Sennen no Utage', but we decided to change things up and went to Shirakiya. The menu is extensive and the assorted sashimi plate for 598 yen was surprisingly generous in portion. It's a dish that everyone can enjoy."

We used this restaurant for a launch party. We were late in informing them of a change in the number of guests, and we caused a lot of trouble, but they kindly accepted the change, which was a big help. We used a course in the 4000 yen range, and we were satisfied with the generous amount of food. We would like to use this restaurant again in the future.

Last night, I went out for drinks with my juniors. The place was reasonably priced and the food was quite delicious. I completely forgot to take pictures (lol).

Just an average izakaya, nothing special.

The night before departure, I searched for a place to have a light drink at an izakaya in Chitose. Unfortunately, the place I wanted to go to was closed for Golden Week. The chain restaurants that were open were all full, but luckily we were able to get a table at this restaurant. We had a simple meal and my wife was happy because they had her favorite strawberry sour drink. The food was average as expected from a chain restaurant. The pickled vegetables were a bit lacking though, they disappeared in one bite! Overall, it was a decent meal.

During the Obon festival, I went out drinking with my parents, eldest son, sister, and nephews. We originally tried to find a restaurant with a kids' room, but everywhere was crowded due to Obon. We called this place and managed to get a table, so we decided to go there. However, there were no child seats for my 4-year-old and 2-year-old nephews. They didn't have all-you-can-drink except for banquets, so we just ordered four beers and lemon sours. The beer tasted bitter, and I realized it was the "Premium" version of the draft beer. I asked the staff why they served the premium instead of the regular one, and they said it was their recommendation. I insisted on the regular one and got it in the end. There were some other issues like not getting the kids' toy set without asking, being charged for table charge without getting any appetizers, etc. The staff seemed to be a mix of regular employees and part-timers, and the regular employees were more helpful. We tried some grilled chicken, chanja, and miso hormone, which were all just average. Lastly, my brother and I ordered mapo tantanmen, which turned out to be extremely spicy. They had a 10% discount with a coupon from the eating app. Overall, the ordering process through the touch panel was convenient, but it became a bit of a hassle when we needed something specific like a stronger drink. The experience was a bit inconvenient at times. In February 2015, I attended a fun drinking event called "Chito Nomu" in Chitose, which is known for its PR. While I occasionally check the Monteurza app, it doesn't feel as rewarding as before, with fewer usable coupons. The explanation of the all-you-can-drink setup by the staff was informative, but there were additional charges for seat fees and appetizers, making it slightly more expensive. The all-you-can-drink itself wasn't that cheap either. We shared dishes like Caesar salad, grilled chicken, one-piece pizza, mentaiko cheese fry, and om soba. The food was reasonably priced, and the grilled chicken was particularly delicious and recommended. The two hours flew by quickly, and when it was time for last order, we finished our drinks and the event was over. It was a strict policy, even on weekdays. Despite some minor concerns, it's a place I would visit again.

I received a merciless check-in time out from Peach Aviation departing from New Chitose Airport, and ended up staying in Chitose City in disappointment. I didn't really care where I could drink, so any chain restaurant would do. That's why I discovered and immediately entered this restaurant under the elevated train tracks. It was already past 9 o'clock, so the restaurant was about half full. I easily secured a table for four. As usual, I ordered "draft beer for now." Then the waiter said they were currently running a campaign for Ukon Fine, and if I ordered it for 190 yen, I could get a large draft beer for the price of a medium one. Still feeling frustrated from missing my Peach flight earlier, I didn't bother to figure out how much of a deal it was, and just went along with the waiter's suggestion. A large draft beer, edamame appetizer, and Ukon Fine were placed on the table. I was told to drink the Ukon before the beer. Orders from then on could be placed using a touch panel. This system may seem impersonal, but it's convenient because you can see your bill right away. In the future, it might even link to your smartphone. Being a nationwide chain like Shirokiya, the taste at this restaurant was average, but the presentation was nice and it felt hygienic. You can add freshly squeezed lemon to your lemon sour. Even though the french fries weren't for takeout, they were brought in a paper bag. Perhaps this is a standard practice at Shirokiya. It's disappointing that these chain restaurants don't offer a wide variety of local ingredients. They probably don't expect many travelers to visit, but the only thing that gave a sense of Hokkaido was the "Toro Salmon Harasu Sashimi." It would be nice to have some local specialty items, even if just a few. But overall, it was quite tasty so I'll give it a thumbs up.

Located next to the front entrance of Chitose Station is the izakaya Shirakiya. My wife and I have visited a few times before, but this is our first visit this year. I remember that the last time we visited at the end of last year, the all-you-can-drink option was 1000 yen for 90 minutes. This time it's 800 yen, so we decided to give it a try after a long time. However, I don't have a very good impression of Shirakiya, in fact, I have some unpleasant memories associated with it. We were seated in the back and ordered some drinks and dishes, and spent about an hour enjoying the slightly tipsy feeling. But the service from the staff was still not very good, and the drinks were slow to come. We had to wait for more than 5 minutes at times. This place hasn't really shown any improvement overall. The food is cheap and average, but considering the whole experience, it's not a place that leaves a good impression. Maybe we'll come back again when we forget about it...or maybe not? (laughs)
