"A genuine specialty store where you can enjoy tonkatsu at a reasonable price - Ton'yoshi, a new takeout and takeaway specialty store that opened next to Nakau until April 30th, offers a discount of 100 yen during lunch hours for takeout and 100 yen off all day for takeaway, which is a slightly delightful service. The flyer had a menu, and when I checked their website, I found that they have a wide variety of options. I usually go for tonkatsu = katsudon, so when I saw the menu for katsudon, I immediately decided on the Double Katsudon. However, I was also intrigued by the Simmered Sauce Katsudon. I decided to call ahead so they could prepare it fresh for me and headed there (it actually took about 10 minutes). The interior of the store is quite small, with a space resembling a bento shop and samples of bento lined up. As it was the store's grand opening, the Special Salted Zangi was half price, so I couldn't resist buying it. I received it quickly as I had called ahead, and I realized how convenient it is to call in advance. The Double Katsudon was served! The portion seemed a bit lacking in volume, and I was disappointed that even though it was a double, there was only one egg! It was still piping hot, and the tonkatsu was easy to eat, with a good thickness to it (the breading wasn't too thick). The meat was tender and quite juicy, with a slightly sweet dashi flavor coating the tonkatsu. The egg was runny, and underneath, there were bamboo shoots and onions. It was quite satisfying in terms of volume, but for this price, I feel like the Double Katsudon from Hotto Motto may look more appealing. The Special Salted Zangi, priced at 400 yen for 5 pieces, was large, soft, and juicy on the inside. As a fan of mayonnaise, I found that it paired well with the zangi - dipping zangi in mayo is a great combination! The rice portion was quite large and I struggled to finish it, and the rice itself was a bit sticky, even though the sauce wasn't too watery. Overall, I felt that maybe Hotto Motto's Double Rosu Katsudon would be a better choice. It was an okay bowl, but perhaps their bento options are better!"
