In March 2020, I visited Rubero for the 22nd time. It is a standalone restaurant in Meguro. Due to the increasing impact of the coronavirus, it was unusually quiet. As usual, I started with Rubero Champagne to toast. I don't eat lunch on Rubero days, so the sparkling wine goes down smoothly. I'll skip the details of my 22nd visit. The restaurant seemed less crowded, possibly due to postponed business meals. The warm soup with leeks and Queen scallops was delightful, followed by a ham amuse-bouche. The tuna, bigfin squid, whelk, with Bagna Cauda and Genovese sauces, was a beautiful plate. The sautéed flatfish with Trapanese sauce was flavorful, and the hand-cut Kitara pasta with firefly squid and bottarga was a delicious collaboration. The white asparagus and prosciutto tagliatelle in cheese-based sauce was a standout. The veal fillet with spring vegetables was tender and refreshing. The dessert was a yuzu semifreddo. The meal ended with Muscat white wine from Sicily. I've made a reservation for April, hoping the situation with the coronavirus improves. Total cost per person was ¥13,000.

I had my last business meeting in Naka-Meguro during a day trip to Tokyo, so I decided to visit a delicious restaurant nearby. It's a charming house tucked away from the main street. I was the first guest to arrive, but soon more reservations filled up the seats. The dining area seemed to be on the second floor, making it a bit challenging for the servers to go up and down the stairs with dishes. The napkins were folded like tuxedos on the table setting, which initially caught my attention and led me to make a reservation here. The menu started with a soup course featuring chestnut and pumpkin with a pleasant hint of vanilla. The prosciutto was Spanish instead of Italian, along with mortadella. The swordfish had good flavor, but the portion had three bones, suggesting inadequate preparation. The tuna confit was excellent. The swordfish with breadcrumbs and tripe were both tasty. The first pasta dish was spaghetti with mullet roe, offering a bold flavor profile with a luxurious sprinkle of bottarga. The lemon pasta was also tangy. I realized I had to meet someone later that day, so I refrained from alcohol. The owner being a sommelier, the restaurant truly shines when enjoyed with wine. The second pasta dish, fregola, was also a great pairing with wine. The second course featured charcoal-grilled beef cooked at low temperature, perfectly executed. The dish was accompanied by delicious macomodake mushrooms. Overall, the restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine without pretense. I regret not ordering wine. The attentive service, including storing my chilled luggage and handling my forgotten item, was impeccable. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

First visit. A house located a little off the main street near Meguro Station. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, and great service. The portions are generous, and you will leave feeling satisfied. The wine selection includes Italian wines by the glass, which is great for wine lovers! Will definitely visit again.

I have been using this restaurant for important occasions with my partner. Ever since we went there for our first anniversary, it has been 6 years, and we have been using it for our anniversaries and birthdays every year. Every time we visit with high expectations of it being a "special place for special occasions," the restaurant always exceeds those expectations effortlessly. The food and wine are always delicious, not only in taste but also in presentation and aroma. Especially the swordfish, tripe, and pasta are exquisite, and every dish is impressively delicious. The wines are also very enjoyable, and the ones recommended by the staff always pair perfectly with the food and are incredibly tasty. The staff who serve us are always polite, kind, and not overly formal, allowing us to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. They explain the dishes and wines very kindly, and even share enjoyable information about the origin and production environment of the wines. It's a place where you can be moved not only by the food but also by the hospitality. There may be various reviews, but we feel that there is no other place that provides such wonderful service. We are always entertained, made to feel special, and are very grateful. We cannot imagine any other place than Rubero for our special occasions. It is a restaurant we want to keep using in the future. I wanted to share the wonderfulness of Rubero with many people, so this is my first review.

It was a visit after a long time. The atmosphere of the restaurant was still very nostalgic. As for the food, there were two types of pasta this time. Since having two pasta dishes in a course meal would make you very full, my companion and I agreed that one type would have been enough. I think the taste overall was not bad.

I made a same-day reservation and entered the restaurant as soon as it opened. It was packed on a holiday, and I was a bit nervous being alone amidst the lively atmosphere, but the staff made me feel comfortable by engaging in conversation. It's fine to dine alone, but their consideration was very much appreciated and I don't think it's something that can be done easily in the midst of a busy restaurant. The dishes were visually appealing and all delicious. Especially the venison main dish was cooked to perfection without any gamey taste, truly impressive. I'm a big eater but with two pasta dishes, each one was satisfying on its own and I felt like my stomach was about to burst. I want to become the kind of adult who can visit seasonally.

I made a last-minute reservation for one person at this renowned restaurant. I tried the course specialty for ¥11,000, had beer, recommended white wine x2, red wine, and the total came to ¥17,240. It was outstanding and delicious. Even someone like me who doesn't like Italian food was extremely impressed. Good food is good food, regardless of the genre! It wasn't as expensive as I thought, very reasonable. Thank you for the meal. The course included: <Intro> Chilled corn whiskey <Cold appetizer> Swordfish, bluefin tuna confit, affettato misto <Warm appetizer> Top-grade swordfish pistachio breadcrumb bake, tripe bianco with green chili <Pasta> Bottarga aglio e olio limone, fragola lamb ragu mint <Main course> Hida beef charcoal balsamic <Dessert> Noctola & tiramisu <Coffee> Almost everything brought smiles and happiness with its deliciousness. I didn't quite like the aglio e olio pasta because I dislike garlic, which is what "aglio" means, and I'm not a big fan of olive oil, which is what "olio" means. I learned something new. However, this excellent restaurant managed to make even the ingredients I don't like taste delicious. The restaurant is only a few minutes from the nearest station. The exterior is wonderful. The restaurant has two floors with about seven tables in total. It seemed like many people were there celebrating birthdays or other special occasions. The service was very good. I was even introduced to the chef on my way out, who was a young man. This place is recommended not only for celebratory dates but also for enjoying top-notch food alone while witnessing happy people around you. It was a great restaurant. I left completely satisfied. I'll definitely come back. Completely non-smoking.

【Atmosphere】Located just off the main street in Meguro, this restaurant has a cozy house-like feel. I heard that they only take reservations for up to 10 people for lunch each day. Thanks to that, I was able to relax and enjoy my meal ♡.【Food】The lunch course menu is on the 8th page. The corn soup was thick and creamy, and incredibly sweet! The main meat dish was cooked to perfection, it was so tender and the fat melted in my mouth, it was amazing. Every dish that came out was delicious, and I could tell how good it was each time, so I ended up feeling full just by looking at it...the cost performance was high〜

A revisit after 6 years. This time for a business dinner. Despite being a standalone Italian restaurant in a residential area, it surprisingly has a convenient atmosphere for business dinners. The table layout is good, making it easy to focus without being bothered by other tables. Of course, it's best enjoyed with close companions. 6 years ago, à la carte seemed to be the focus, but now it seems to have shifted towards set courses to keep up with the times. The taste is still wonderful as ever. If you enjoy drinking, this place offers a lot of enjoyment. I was relieved to see that they are managing well even after going through the pandemic.

I went with high expectations because it's a well-known restaurant, but maybe I set the bar too high... Everything was basically delicious, but there wasn't anything that stood out. What bothered me was feeling like the staff looked down on me. It's common when they're young, but that kind of attitude really affects the atmosphere of the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

This is a standalone Italian restaurant located in a narrow alley about a 5-6 minute walk from Meguro Station East Exit. The building is tucked away in a quiet location, making it a bit hard to find, but it has a serene Western-style atmosphere. It seems to have been built over 60 years ago, but it has a charming ambiance. We were led to the dining area on the 2nd floor. The total cost was 5500 yen including tax (12%): Weekend lunch special for 4000 yen: Pairing for 600 yen: Coperto (seating fee + bread fee). The dishes we had included: Amuse-bouche of chilled corn soup with whiskey, cold appetizer of marinated Izu sea bream with orange salsa verde, warm appetizer of white asparagus with fonduta sauce, pasta dish of grilled sardines with fennel, pine nuts, garlic oil, meat dish of grilled Hida beef rump with corn, aged balsamic sauce, and dessert of Catalana with shine muscat, blueberry, raspberry, and two sauces (mango, plum). The ingredients were a mix of domestic and Italian products. The local cuisine and the ambiance of the building were in sync, making the overall satisfaction high. The finishing was also reasonable. We requested pairing but opted for a soda with calvados by the window, which paired well with the pasta dish. We took a cigarette break between dishes 5 and 6, and the sommelier kindly set up a table, chairs, and tea in the shade of the terrace. It was a refreshing gesture, and we were very grateful.

Exiting the east exit of Meguro Station, proceed straight on Meguro Street, pass the third traffic light, turn right at the second block, and a little further down on the left side of a narrow alley with a signboard, you will find the restaurant. The exterior is like a hidden gem, with plants placed from the signboard to the entrance, standing quietly against a white wall with green accents. I visited at the opening time of 12 p.m. on the weekend. Upon entering and informing them of my reservation, I was guided upstairs through a slightly longer corridor with neatly arranged tables. The wooden floor and bright white tablecloths were impressive, with sunlight streaming in through large windows, creating a cozy atmosphere. There was only one group of women as other guests, making the space feel more spacious and relaxed (there also seemed to be semi-private rooms in the back). The plates on the table had neatly folded napkins in tuxedo style, and the pasta was creatively shaped like bow ties. It was a charming touch that made me feel warm. For lunch, they only offered a 5,500 yen course, and I ordered a Grapefruit Juice (850 yen) for my drink. The Grapefruit Juice turned out to be pink grapefruit juice, which was a pleasant surprise. It had a refreshing acidity, perfect for the hot season. Before the meal started, the chef personally came to greet us. The dishes included a chilled corn whiskey soup with corn whiskey mist, seared sea bream with salsa verde and orange, bread, white asparagus with fonduta, and Sicilian-style spaghetti with sardines and capers. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, showcasing a variety of flavors and textures.

I walked through a lovely garden and found a small Italian restaurant. The corn soup with whiskey was surprisingly rich and delicious. The carpaccio with orange was refreshing, and the asparagus was flavorful. The main course of meat sandwiched between pasta was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of oil. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Today's menu is as follows: Cold corn soup, Cutlassfish x Loquat x Confit Salsiccia White Asparagus x Truffle Aglio e Olio Handmade Pici Charcoal-grilled Hida Beef Tiramisu. I don't usually eat dishes made with wheat flour, but it was so delicious that I finished it all in one go. The Hokkaido corn in the cold soup was sweet even without using sugar! Cutlassfish and loquat are not common menu items, and they left a strong impression. The pasta was delicious too, and I ended up quite full. It was a bit disappointing that the Hida beef had a bit too much sinew, but overall, I was very satisfied. The fact that this course meal is priced at less than 10,000 yen is amazing value for money! What I really liked about this restaurant is the detailed information on the drink menu list, such as wine origins and food pairings. I'm not very knowledgeable about wine, so this kind of thoughtfulness made me very happy! The fact that prices are clearly displayed is also reassuring. The glass wines are reasonably priced, and you can enjoy pairing them with your meal. Now I understand why this place is so popular!

Meguro Ristorantino Lubero "Weekend Limited Lunch Course" opened on December 25, 2007, a popular restaurant selected for the Italian TOKYO Top 100 in 2021/2023. Located near the JR Meguro Station, close to the intersection leading to the Tokyo Garden Museum, this stylish standalone restaurant is tucked away on the left side of the popular ramen shop "Menya Ishin." By the way, the popular Western-style restaurant "Meguro Mitsuboshi Shokudo" is also located to the right. While their regular dinner service runs from Tuesday to Sunday with Mondays off, you can enjoy a limited lunch for only 10 guests on weekends. The lunch course includes: 1. Inizio - Cold soup with carrots and fennel; 2. Antipasto Freddo - Seared golden eye snapper, aged flounder, orange; 3. Antipasto Card - Green asparagus with fondue; 4. Primo Piatto - Awaji Island whitebait aglio e olio with fava beans; 5. Secondo Piatto - Miyazaki beef charcoal-grilled with 5-year aged balsamic; 6. Dolce - Panna cotta with Earl Grey; 7. Caffe - Coffee (or tea, espresso, herbal tea). We paired the meal with Franciacorta Brut Emozione Millesimato 2018 Villa sparkling wine, recommended Langhe Chardonnay 2020, and recommended Tenuta La Meridiana Tra la Terra e Il Cielo full-bodied wine from northern Italy's Piedmont region. The restaurant impresses with its simple yet gentle and meticulous approach, conveying the deep flavors of the ingredients in a visually appealing and straightforward manner. It truly is an excellent dining experience that soothes both the body and soul, with a delightful atmosphere. It was delicious. Grazie mille!

When you turn the last corner, it feels like stepping into a little Italian alley. Being seated on the second floor, away from the hustle and bustle, we enjoyed a slightly smaller portion course. The citrus-infused carpaccio left a lasting impression. It stood out for its refreshing acidity, contrasting with the usual balsamic vinegar-heavy versions, making it perfect for a hot day. The balance between the natural sweetness of asparagus and the richness of cheese and truffle was excellent. The aglio e olio could do with a bit less cheese shavings. Desserts could be less sweet. (I kept seeing bees outside the window, so maybe they should check the attic.) Overall, the calm ambiance and well-balanced dishes were impressive. The flavors are on the bold side, so enjoying some wine would be ideal.

A cozy Italian restaurant in Meguro, located in a renovated house that gives off a welcoming and casual atmosphere. The dishes are all well-crafted and delicious, with interesting touches like soup served in a matcha tea bowl. The service was also satisfactory. Located a 5-minute walk from JR Yamanote Line and Tokyu Meguro Line's Meguro Station East Exit, this restaurant is a standalone house tucked away just off the main street near Meguro Station. Nearby, you'll find the delicious omurice spot "Meguro Mitsuboshi Shokudo." The exterior and interior ambiance are both excellent, and the wine list is superb. Each wine is detailed with illustrations of Italy, including regional characteristics and producer details, making it a delightful read. With over 20 types of glass wines to choose from, the service is top-notch. On this day, we ordered a course featuring Kinkaton pork as the main dish. The appetizers included both fish and meat, with the Sarlaccia being delicious, and the asparagus fresh and seasonal. Two pasta dishes left a lasting impression: the Karasumi Aglio e Olio Limone had a delightful aroma and perfect saltiness, while the hand-cut Pici Ragù Mushroom had a great chewy texture and the excellent flavors of mushrooms and ragù. The Kinkaton pork was moist, tender, and delicious. The tiramisu dessert was impressively delicious, with a perfect level of sweetness that captivated us. The course of the day included a chilled Zuppa with carrots and fennel, seared tuna carpaccio, cutlassfish, Sarlaccia Agrodolce, royal asparagus with truffles, Karasumi Aglio e Olio Limone, hand-cut Pici Ragù Mushroom, Kinkaton pork Cacciatore on charcoal, special tiramisu, and post-meal warm beverages. I used it for weekend lunch. The location is somewhat hard to find, but there is a sign at the entrance of the porch. It's about a 4-minute walk from Meguro Station. It's a bit off Meguro Street, so it's not noisy. We were seated on the second floor. The stairs are a bit narrow, so be careful. With a very high Tabelog score (⭐︎3.81, as of May 2023), expectations were inevitably raised. The lunch menu we had included: Chilled zuppa with carrot and fennel, aged flounder with purple mustard, king's asparagus with mushrooms, Awaji Island whitebait aglio e olio with fava beans, Wagyu beef with charcoal-grilled aged balsamic, panna cotta with Earl Grey, espresso, coffee, etc. It was an exciting start. However, things started to look a bit dubious around the flounder... It had a lot of sinew, making it a bit difficult to eat. The asparagus was relatively ordinary, and the mushrooms were thinly sliced. It felt somewhat simplistic. The pasta was good, with slightly thick noodles and large shirasu. While it lacked delicacy, it had a solid texture, and the fava beans were delicious. The main Wagyu beef was honestly nothing special... By that point, no one was really expressing their opinions on the food anymore. The Tabelog score was quite high, so as I mentioned at the beginning, the expectations were high, but there was a significant disparity. It cost around 40,000 yen. Maybe the impression would be different for dinner, but considering the quality of service as well, I don't think I'll revisit.

Italian Restaurant "Ristorante Rubero" in May 2023✨✨ Located just a step away from Meguro Street. A hidden restaurant renovated from a 65-year-old house. The owner is a sommelier and the chef changes frequently. The restaurant opened in December 2007. The restaurant is located in a back alley a 5-minute walk from JR Meguro Station. The interior has a calm atmosphere. How does the food taste (*´∇`)ノ ■Dinner ①Seasonal course 7,500 yen ②Chef's special course 9,000 yen ③Course Specialite 11,000 yen ■Chef's special 11,000 yen (tax included, 12% service charge, 600 yen cover charge extra) ⚫Chilled soup Carrot (Saiyo) Fennel Osaka fruit carrot, Saiyo. It's delicious, but... the cream overpowers it, and the flavor of the carrot is faint. ⚫Beltfish, loquat, bonito confit A cute appetizer with a nice presentation. The beltfish is seared but cold, lacking in umami. The bonito is also cold, but the combination with loquat is good. The appetizer has a good "presentation" but the finishing is too sweet. It's a shame they're not conscious of the temperature. ⚫Affettato Mist Italian ham could not be sourced, so domestic ham is used. The taste of the ham and prosciutto is decent. ⚫Premium mackerel breadcrumbs baked pistachio Beautifully baked mackerel. The crispy breadcrumbs are nice. But is it really premium? ⚫Tajima beef tripe green chili The Tajima beef tripe is rich and fatty, with a nice accent of green chili. ⚫Bottarga Aglio e Olio Limone Hmm, did they focus too much on Sicily? The pasta is a bit lacking in firmness, and the lemon's acidity is too strong, losing the unity of the pasta. ⚫Fregola lamb ragu mint Granular pasta with lamb ragu. It should be a classic dish, but... the lamb ragu has some sinew left, and it's a bit too salty. ⚫Tosa Akauushi charcoal-grilled aged balsamic dry-aged Tosa Akauushi. The taste is not bad, but it's too tough. If that's the case, it would have been better to go for a cheaper course with pork. ⚫Special tiramisu Noctilucent Tiramisu was well-made. ■Drinks ⚫Acqua Panna (750ml) 850 yen ⚫VARVARA BOLGHERI 2020 1,400 yen Italian red wine, made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The bottle is around 5,400 yen in the market. It has a deep flavor without any roughness. A nice choice. ■Service The service level seems high, but... ■Price One glass of wine, water, and chef's special for a total of 15,510 yen. 12% service charge, 600 yen cover charge extra. It's expensive. The chef's skills are still developing. The recipes are somewhat established, so there are no major flavor mishaps, but the finishing is too sweet (compared to top-tier restaurants). At this price range, the finishing is a bit concerning. It didn't suit my taste. Thank you for the meal m(_ _)m □Rating As of May 2023, Tabelog rating 3.82, 594 reviews □Staff Chef: Takahiro Sato Sommelier: Yoshiki Shibuya Owner-Sommelier: Ryu Nagasawa
