Matcha sweets can now be enjoyed in various places. I had a parfait for the first time in a while. It was filled with soft serve ice cream and had a rich chocolate topping, but at the same time, there were chunks of white rice cakes and sweet red bean paste visible. It's a compact parfait but it really fills you up. A taste that you occasionally crave. People in Hokkaido even eat ice cream in heated rooms during winter, despite how cold it is outside. It was delicious today too!

It's Asahikawa... I missed the 1:00 pm express train and the next one is not for another hour, so I decided to use the free time to visit a few new places. I discovered a place called "103" (Tommy) that sells oyaki and soft serve ice cream. I ordered the "Uji Matcha (Ice Cream) @300 yen". The young lady serving me mentioned that I could get a 50 yen discount if I ordered it with an oyaki, but I was already full. The matcha ice cream was rich and flavorful, although I wished it had a bit more sweetness. Overall, it was a good deal for 300 yen. If you're going to eat oyaki, I recommend pairing it with matcha. I look forward to visiting again next time. Thank you for the meal.

Certainly, it's not warm, but not super cold either. It's like a frozen treat that you might find at a convenience store, like a frozen pastry. It's not something super fancy. It's more like a fun summer twist on an "oyaki" pastry. I chose the lemon cream flavor since the soy milk cream was sold out. It was actually really good. It had a refreshing taste perfect for summer, and it made for a great post-meal snack.

I wonder what it means to be "summer-like"? Among the various options, I chose the Blueberry Sundae, although there was also a Haskap Sundae that had a similar color scheme, but with a bit more acidity. Based on that information, when I tried this one, it turned out to be quite sweet. It seems this is a Sundae, not a parfait. I'm not sure what the difference is (laughs), but overall, it was very well done. It's great to have so many choices at this time of year.

Recently, this shop has been selling an oayaki with takoyaki inside, which also seems interesting, but this time I wanted something sweet (as always!) so I ordered this parfait. There is no matcha flavor at all, maybe it's more like hojicha? It seems like that kind of process. However, even though it's sweet, there are various elements in it, and it's small but you can fully enjoy the content. The combination of kuromitsu (black honey) and red bean paste is powerful. It was delicious! (^^♪

It seems that this is a new store from Matsutakean, which is originally from Kyoto, specializing in matcha oyaki. There was no one to greet us when we entered, so we were able to take our time looking around. The store is quite spacious and impressive for this location. I was drawn to the octopus-filled octopus oyaki for 200 yen. It was smaller than I expected and lukewarm. The skin was light and airy, but there was no harmony or integration with the octopus filling. I didn't even feel like taking a picture of it. I reaffirmed that Sazae oyaki is the best! Thank you for the meal.

I felt like having something sweet after a meal of washoku, so I came to FiLL. It's my first visit, I'm Tomi (103). This time, I ordered the matcha chocolate parfait. It was delicious! The chocolate and matcha sauce go really well together. At the bottom, there's a rich matcha sauce piled up. The crispy texture, maybe it's Toppo? There are some corn flakes in it too, and the way they soften in the matcha is irresistible (no added crunchiness!). On Facebook, it said they use Uji matcha from Kyoto for their matcha treats, and I lightly regret not buying some as souvenirs. The matcha in the parfait also felt like Uji matcha, yeah. The conversation between the customers and the staff was elegant and lovely. Thank you for the meal!

I have been enjoying various desserts. The strawberry parfait is a summer delight, sweet and sour, very delicious. The unique feature of this one is the addition of shiratama (rice flour dumplings), which gives a satisfying feeling after eating. On the same day, I also bought the oyaki. It was also satisfying with the refreshing taste of lemon. There is also a cold version of oyaki available. The matcha chocolate parfait is a regular menu item but needless to say, it is delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Title are all similar (lol) This time, I chose a savory option instead of a sweet one, even though it's called "oyaki". In the photo, you can't tell at all, but it's ham and eggs and curry. The sweet oyaki skin with a savory filling is quite addictive. The ham and eggs are delicious, almost like a Japanese-style moon-viewing burger. And the curry sauce is incredibly tasty. This is something you must try. Another time, I tried a parfait. By chance, there were no flakes, so the soft serve ice cream filled the bottom. What a surprise♪♪ I was touched by the sweetness of the soybean flour and enjoyed a fleeting moment of time.

This place used to have a different store before, but now it has limited items on the menu. However, everything is delicious^^ The ohagi is based on matcha flavor, and the variety of fillings is nice. There is only one type of parfait available, but it is always delicious, so it's nice not to have to choose (lol). Just being able to eat a parfait here makes me happy. Next time, I'll try the meal ohagi-like dish. I'll share my thoughts, so stay tuned!

Feel Asahikawa, underground food market. There is a shop selling "oyaki" at the back. I often pass by but haven't tried it yet, so let's stop by! The young female staff here is friendly and kind with a smile. The variety of oyaki ranges from sweet fillings like "anko," "cream," and "chocolate" to savory options like "hamburg," "beef stew," and "ham and egg." The popular oyaki seems to be partially baked and kept warm. I wonder if they bake the unbaked menu items upon order? I ordered the spring limited edition "sakura an" oyaki (200 yen including tax). When asked if I wanted a drink, I said, "Sure, what do you recommend?" and was suggested the "matcha latte" (iced) (450 yen). Although it's self-service here, the staff offered to bring the order to me. I waited for about 5 minutes in the eat-in area, and the same staff member brought the order on a black tray. The "sakura an" oyaki has a sakura-flavored filling on matcha-flavored dough. It has a gentle sweetness and a subtle sakura scent. It's nice to have a Japanese sweet once in a while! The matcha latte (iced) uses Uji matcha from Kyoto and has a fragrant taste. It's not too sweet, making it a perfect match for the sweet sakura an oyaki! Even though it was still snowing outside, it's the season for cherry blossom sweets!

The tenant turnover is quite high in Feal Asahikawa. Last year, "108 Matcha Tea Lounge" closed, and I was wondering if that space would remain empty, but to my surprise, a new place opened on September 12, 2020. It's a baked goods shop called "103 (Tommy)". Located in Feal Asahikawa B1F, 1-8-1 Jo-dori, Asahikawa City. Business hours are from 10:00 to 19:30, open every day. They have parking and offer takeout. The atmosphere remains the same as the previous tenant, which makes sense because they also sell baked goods. The variety of baked goods is interesting. In addition to the menu in the photo, they also have baked goods that can be a meal, which was quite intriguing. I tried the Sweet Potato Yaki for 200 yen. It was a bit small in size, but very sweet. It had a good sweet potato flavor, more like sweet potato paste. Instead of just talking about how delicious it was, I think it's a place where you can enjoy the rich and interesting variety of baked goods every time you visit Feal.

After lunch sweets. At one point, there were no shops offering soft serve ice cream in the basement of Feel, but now there are two shops which is great. I tried the mixed soft serve and it was sweet and rich, yet not too heavy. It was just the right balance. I was very satisfied. On another day, I tried the oyaki. There are many varieties to choose from, and I can't remember which one I picked, but it was elegant and almost too good to eat in a shop without seating. Maybe that's what makes it so good. It seems like they have become more friendly lately. I hope they continue to thrive. ^^

"103 (Tommy)" is a green tea flavored snack shop in Asahikawa. There were two of us, and it was time to go home, but my wife suggested leaving already. I decided to stop by "103 (Tommy)" anyway. I usually wake up late, so we were running late because of me, but she was the one saying we should leave already. It's not like we were competing, so I didn't dwell on it. We had about four places in mind to visit, and one of them was "103 (Tommy)." They had soft serve ice cream in green tea and mixed flavors. I personally dislike green tea flavor, but my wife said she would eat green tea soft serve even though she doesn't like green tea snacks. She said, "I don't taste much green tea flavor in this," but of course, it tasted like green tea. I decided to eat the green tea part for her, and she appreciated it. The texture of the ice cream was incredibly smooth and the sweetness was just right. It felt a bit heavy but had a light and smooth taste with amazing texture. We also tried their chestnut cream snack, which was delicious with a strong chestnut flavor. We should have bought another one to share. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with friendly staff and tasty snacks."

When I thought that the matcha cafe Fiell had closed, I found out that a new shop called 103, also specializing in matcha, had opened. I decided to get some takeout oyaki, and there were four different flavors to choose from. I ordered the matcha cream and soy milk ones. When I tried them at home, I was surprised to find that even though they were cold, the dough was incredibly chewy. I wonder if they use rice flour in them? It seems like oyaki has evolved a lot recently. I'm not a fan of sweet treats, but I really enjoyed the bittersweet taste of matcha. I personally preferred the soy milk and red bean flavor. Whenever I visit Asahikawa, I always make sure to stop by Fiell, so next time I'll try a different flavor.

108 Matcha Tea Salon has closed, and now a new shop selling matcha oyaki has opened in its place! They are currently offering a 20% discount during their grand opening sale until September 20th. You can also get a free gift of 8 baby castella cakes with a purchase of 500 yen or more using a coupon from a free paper liner. I tried their parfait for 400 yen during the sale, and it was delicious with a smooth matcha flavor and sweet red bean paste. The portion size is small, so it's gone in no time! The shop is said to be affiliated with Matsuroan from Kyoto.

It's great that the Matsutruan's sister store has opened! The menu may not be as extensive as the previous store, but the soft serve ice cream is still delicious. I also tried their taiyaki on a different day, including a limited edition chestnut filling. It was delicious and didn't overlap with the neighboring mochi shop. I hope this place continues to thrive. The atmosphere is starting to feel cozy, and there were a decent number of customers. It was a good experience!
