I went to the neighboring soba restaurant for lunch and decided to have a light meal, planning to have some sweets afterwards. I was torn between the daifuku with red bean paste and the mugwort rice cake with red bean paste, but ended up choosing the daifuku. The rice cake had started to harden a bit since the morning. I thought it would be delicious if I toasted it! The red bean paste was great! Those who had the mugwort rice cake said it was very mugwort-flavored! I would like to try it again. Thank you for the meal!

I had soba at the neighboring Osaka-ya and bought daifuku here to take home. There is also a cafe section towards the back, but I wonder if it's open now. The daifuku varieties include smooth red bean paste, chunky red bean paste, smooth white bean paste, chunky white bean paste, red bean paste with sweet red beans, white bean paste with sweet red beans, walnut red bean paste, sesame red bean paste, daifuku without sweet red beans, and skewered daifuku (small daifuku balls on a skewer). Daifuku preferences may vary depending on the firmness of the mochi and the type of red bean paste. I like mochi with a chewy texture that you can bite into, and I enjoy both chunky and smooth red bean paste. The mochi here becomes harder as you chew. However, the price is on the higher side at 220 yen. I think it's more expensive than the grandma's red bean mochi you buy at roadside stations. There is also the option of freezing them, but there is a certain charm in enjoying them on the day of purchase. It's also delicious when you bake the hardened daifuku and the red bean paste oozes out.

This is a shop located next to Yunomoto Hana no Yu, selling daifuku. The name seems to be related to the soba shop next door. There are a few seats in the cafe space. I was also tempted by the anmitsu, but ended up buying the azuki bean daifuku and yomogi daifuku. They were both chewy and generously sized, and two of them cost 440 yen, which didn't feel too expensive.

The rice cakes are delicious. As they say, the most popular one is the yomogi daifuku, which is tastier than the bean daifuku. Both the bean daifuku and yomogi have a salty flavor.

On April 22, 2016, I visited the neighboring "Soba Restaurant Osaka-ya" for lunch and then decided to stop by this place out of curiosity. I was originally planning to get a takeout, but since I had some time, I decided to eat inside the dining area. I ordered the "Daifuku Set" with a grass Daifuku (red bean paste) and a coffee. The Daifuku was quite large, about the size of a clenched fist. The mochi was soft and chewy, with a good texture. The red bean paste was not too sweet and had a hint of saltiness, making it easy to eat. It was delicious, so I ended up buying some grass Daifuku and bean Daifuku to take home. The bean Daifuku had a chunky red bean paste filling, but because it was a takeout and some time had passed, the mochi felt a bit hard. Freshly made ones are definitely tastier. I couldn't finish everything, so I froze the leftovers. By the way, I found out that this place is run by the same owners as the neighboring soba restaurant with the same name. Osaka-ya Daifuku Address: 418-486 Kikyocho, Hakodate City Tel: 050-2020-8870 Business hours: 11:00-16:00 Parking: About 3 spaces in front of the store Inside: About 7 counter seats, 2 table seats

The distinctive feature of the daifuku here is the chewy mochi part. It's different from the stretchy and soft texture often found in daifuku. I tried the bean daifuku, but I was a bit disappointed because there were few beans in it. The price was a bit high for the amount of beans in it. The taste is salty at first, followed by sweetness. It might be good for those who don't like overly sweet snacks. However, for those looking for extremely sweet daifuku, it might be a bit lacking. The shop has an eat-in space where you can enjoy the daifuku you purchased, as well as other sweets from the menu. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The shop is located behind a hot spring called "Hanano Yu." It is a small and cute place, with chairs, a counter, and tables inside. You can buy and enjoy daifuku inside, or use it as a cafe. They offer several types of daifuku, and I tried the one with sweet bean paste filling. The mochi is made without sugar, so it has a chewy texture. The bean paste has a refreshing saltiness, which doesn't make you feel heavy even though the daifuku is big. They also sell chiffon cakes, which I would like to try next time. The staff is very friendly.
