Arrived at 10:59. Joined the line of one person waiting outside. The restaurant opened on time. Ordered the Tan Tan Men with white sesame for 990 yen, topped with pea shoots and rapeseed blossoms for 120 yen, and a hot spring egg for 100 yen. When asked by the staff about the level of spiciness, requested a spiciness level of 2 and a numbness level of 3. I'm not good with spiciness but I like numbness, so I decided to try the recommended spiciness level 3 and numbness level 2 in reverse. Asked for the paper apron service as well. Sat down at 11:02. Served at 11:10. The soup contained medium-thick straight noodles, minced meat, dried shrimp, watercress, and chopped zha cai. The staff advised to mix well before eating, and the soup had a rich and creamy sesame aroma, very delicious with a good balance of spiciness and numbness. The medium-thick straight noodles were smooth and chewy, just the way I like it. The watercress added a nice accent when eaten with the noodles, and adding the pea shoots and rapeseed blossoms halfway through also provided good flavor and texture, a great addition. Thought of using the hot spring egg to mellow out the spiciness if it was too much, but it was fine this time. Tried the black vinegar on the table, which added a nice twist and was delicious. Both the soup and noodles were tasty, making me want to try other menu items. The restaurant filled up shortly after opening, with about 5 people waiting as I left, but the turnover seemed good.

I have been to Kitter Grand Che several times, but this was my first visit to the Yushima main store. The exterior and interior have a calm atmosphere, and the staff's service is polite and pleasant! I tried the recommended level 3 spiciness and level 2 numbing white sesame tantan noodles. The spiciness and numbing sensation did not overpower the sesame flavor of the tantan soup, but still left a strong, lingering kick, which I thought was just right. The flavor of dried shrimp and the crispy texture of watercress also added a nice touch, giving a sense of well-thought-out preparation! I haven't been to many tantan noodle shops, but for me, this is what tantan noodles should be like, the standard version.

I chose the Tantanmen without soup with a spice level of 5 and numbness level of 4. It was delicious! Even though it didn't feel that spicy, before I knew it, I was sweating a lot from my face, which felt good. I'm curious about the taco rice, but I still feel like eating noodles. They accept cash only for food tickets, and they provide hair ties and paper aprons.

I had the classic white sesame tantanmen and soupless tantanmen. You purchase food tickets inside the restaurant. There is a cash-only change machine inside. I went on a weekday afternoon and there was no wait, but it seems the crowd can vary. Personally, I recommend the soupless tantanmen. The thick noodles were great. I suggest a spice level of 3:3 for heat and numbness. I think I have an average tolerance for spiciness.

I had some errands in Ueno and was looking for a place to eat during lunchtime when I remembered "Aun"! It's been so many years. I forgot how spicy I had challenged myself before, so I went with 4:3 for now. The spiciness and numbness were no problem at all. It's been a while and I was a bit too scared. Next time, I'll go with 5:4. The interior of the restaurant is very clean, with no sticky feeling on the seats at all. It gives a sense of cleanliness, making it a place where even women can feel safe to stop by. Thank you for the meal.

First visit!! Arrived before 8:00 PM on Saturday and the place was almost full! While other ramen shops nearby were quite empty, this one was amazing. I recommend the white sesame tantanmen with spiciness level 3 and numbness level 2. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful ✨ There are about 11 counter seats and 3 tables. The staff, 4 people in total, were working efficiently! From the first bite, it reminded me of Hanakatsu-en in Myoden. I thought the spiciness and numbness were just right, but as I continued eating, I found the numbness to be too strong for my liking. The mapo tofu had an authentic taste, but being someone who doesn't enjoy strong numbness, I realized once again that it's not my preference (lol) I also tried the tomato sauce, and by adding the restaurant on LINE, I received a free soft-boiled egg ✌

This is my second visit. I ordered the White Sesame Tantanmen with a spice level of 2 and a numbness level of 1. We arrived around 20:30 and there was a wait for 7 people, but we were seated promptly and provided with paper aprons. Instead of toothpicks, there were hair ties at the table. Although we didn't use them, it was a nice touch. The food was delicious once again.

This is my second time here! The staff are friendly and it's a nice restaurant, but I feel like the taste was better before... Maybe they increased the level of numbness too much. Anything above a level 6 of spiciness or numbness is charged extra. The spiciness isn't that high, but the numbness is intense.

It was a long time since I last had a spicy dish. Because it was cold, I considered getting the tantan noodles with soup, but ended up choosing the soup-less option. I usually go for a spiciness level of 3 and numbness level of 3, but it felt milder this time. The noodles were also cooked just right and mixed well with the sauce.

Visited after several months. Arrived early and luckily didn't have to wait in line. Chose spiciness level 3 and numbness level 3 with no black sesame soup today. I also like tantanmen, but at Aun, it's all about the soup-less option. The sesame flavor is not compromised, and you can fully enjoy the spiciness and numbness. The texture of the minced meat and watercress is a nice accent. I haven't tried many soup-less dishes, but Aun's is my favorite. It may be a bit improper, but mixing the remaining soup and minced meat with rice is irresistible.

I had the chance to visit the Ueno area after a long time and decided to extend my trip to Asagaya on my way back. It had been nearly 10 years since my last visit, and I had never been to Yushima before. I debated between getting the soup or soupless option, but due to the hot weather, I decided to go with the soupless version. At the entrance, I purchased a food ticket and indicated my desired level of spiciness and numbness when handing it over. I chose level 3 for both. The dish, generously sprinkled with sansho pepper, emitted a pleasant aroma. After mixing it well as instructed, I took a bite. The perfect amount of spiciness and numbness spread in my mouth, complemented by the savory flavor of dried shrimp. I felt like the dried shrimp added a hidden depth to the soupless tantanmen, almost like a secret star ingredient. It was delicious to have the soupless tantanmen after such a long time. Thank you for the meal.

-----------ORDER-----------Chilled Tantan noodles
I pledged to try "black sesame" or "soupless" next time, but ended up ordering "chilled" instead. I chose spiciness level "3" and numbness level "3," being able to choose the spiciness and numbness is a unique feature. By adjusting the amount of chili oil, doubanjiang, and sansho pepper, you can enjoy your preferred flavor intensity. The dish presented was exactly the same in appearance as last time, just cold... (the only difference being the presence or absence of steam in terms of appearance... haha) However, the taste was mild and subdued since it wasn't hot, with a gentle spiciness and numbness. At the bottom of the bowl, seasoned minced meat and pepper accumulated, providing a stimulating but not overwhelmingly sharp sensation. I could sense the smoothness of the noodle soup, doubanjiang, and ground sesame. I thought to myself that if it were hot, it wouldn't be the same, while finishing the meal. However, on the way back under the scorching sun, whether due to the heat or the spiciness of the tantan noodles, my body felt warm all over... eventually getting hotter and hotter, and sweat... Next time, I will definitely challenge myself with "black sesame" or "soupless."
-----------Digression-----------
Continuing hot days... Appetite diminishing... This is reflected in the decision-making process for lunch menus. Chilled dishes? Indecisive about choosing a restaurant... Can't bring myself to want to eat plain rice. The priority is something with a refreshing texture. If it's with alcohol, it goes down smoothly, but if I drink alcohol, my body gets hot afterward, so if I can't stay in a well-air-conditioned place, I can't drink alcohol. The "soupless" noodles looked delicious with thick noodles.

Ordered the White Sesame Cold Tantanmen (1050 yen). Since the Asakusa branch recently closed, we went to the Yushima branch. As always, the numbing spiciness is stimulating, yet delicious - it's GOOD. By adding a friend on LINE, you can get toppings like a soft-boiled egg and rice.

I tried the limited-time chilled sesame tantan noodles for the summer season. The spiciness was recommended by the restaurant at level 3 for heat and level 2 for numbing, providing a pleasant level of stimulation. It's nice to have green vegetables like kaiware and mizuna on top. As a LINE registration benefit, I received almond jelly as a service. It was a perfect palate cleanser and I was delighted.

I visited during a weekday lunchtime. Today, my friend T came to Tokyo, so I took the afternoon off and we decided to meet in Ueno. It had been about 5 years since my last visit to Ah-Un. [Parking] Not available. ■ White Sesame Tan-Tan Men 1050 yen The soup with a sesame flavor is among the top Tan-Tan Men soups in Tokyo. Since I wasn't feeling well, I chose spice level 0/numbness level 1. The low water content thin noodles still pair excellently with the soup as always. The flavor of the meat miso toppings is good, but the quantity is noticeably less than before. Hmm, disappointing. [Overall] The price has increased from 850 yen five years ago to 1050 yen this time. Comparing photos from five years ago, it's clear that the portion has become quite meager. I noticed that 'Kisurin' in Akasaka was also 1050 yen when I recently visited, so maybe 1050 yen is the default price for Tan-Tan Men in Tokyo. However, since 'Kohfunfun' in Kiba has closed down, I hope Ah-Un will continue to strive as a delicious Tan-Tan Men restaurant in Tokyo.

For lunch, I went to this place and ordered the Cold Black Dan Dan Noodles and the Mapo Tofu Donburi (small). For the Dan Dan Noodles, you can choose the level of spiciness and numbness, and I asked for the recommended level of spiciness 3 and numbness 2. First, the Cold Black Dan Dan Noodles. When I took a sip of the soup, I could taste the strong flavors of star anise and black sesame, giving a punch of Sichuan Chinese cuisine. The rich-looking black soup with the richness and punch of black sesame is delicious. The noodles are medium-thin and cold, with a firm texture. The dried shrimp accent is also good. The spiciness level 3 and numbness level 2 are very gentle and subtle. It would have been nice to go up one level each. The Mapo Tofu Donburi (small) seemed mild at first but the spiciness and numbness kick in later. Compared to the recommended spiciness level 3 and numbness level 2 of the Dan Dan Noodles, this dish has a higher level of spiciness and numbness. I tried eating the leftover white rice with the soup, and the combination was okay. Maybe it was better as Mapo Tofu Donburi. The thin, chilled noodles and the richness of black sesame made it disappear in no time. Even after finishing the Mapo Tofu Donburi, I felt pleasantly full, as the portion size was on the smaller side. I hesitated about having it without the dipping sauce, but on such a hot day, maybe it was a good choice to have the rich yet refreshing cold dish.

I always crave for tantanmen regularly. The noodles are delicious, and I think the overall balance is very good. I always end up ordering it with soup out of habit, but judging from the people around me, the dry version seems to be popular, so I would like to try that too.

I chose the classic ramen. Spiciness level 3, saltiness level 1. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. However, the ramen had no flavor at all and was not delicious. It lacked everything I expect from ramen. The pork was the best part. The mapo tofu was also disappointing. I won't be coming back.

After a 3-year absence, I visited around 6:30 pm on a weekday. The restaurant was about 80% full, indicating that it is still popular. I ordered the Black Tan Tan Men for 1050 yen, specifying a spice level of 4, numbness level of 3, and firm noodles. It was served in about 6 minutes. The noodles were thin and white, not quite to my liking. I thought I had toned down the spiciness to level 4 and numbness to level 3, but it turned out to be just right. The mustard greens were bitter and not very good. Ultimately, the soup with minced meat was irresistibly delicious, and I almost finished the entire bowl of soup. The price has gone up considerably since it opened, starting at 800 yen. The service was not bad, but it felt somewhat robotic, as if following a manual.

As it was a hot summer day, I tried the chilled white sesame tantan noodles. At this restaurant, you can choose the spiciness (chili oil) and numbing sensation (Sichuan pepper) when ordering, so I went with the beginner-recommended level 2-2, and I was able to fully enjoy the aroma of the Sichuan pepper. The tantan noodles were of high quality, and I would like to come back to try the warm tantan noodles when it gets a little cooler.
