Hello, this is Sapi. A restaurant that is inspired by Kitakata ramen, bursting with the umami of dried fish and animal flavors, created by a group of restaurants that also operate "Kamo to Negi" and "Ayagawa" among others. The owner rented this space seven months ago and has been preparing for the opening since then. The restaurant aims to create an environment where customers can enjoy a bowl of ramen purely, without focusing on information about the ingredients. The reviewer had some negative impressions of the group's previous restaurants, but found this new place intriguing. The reviewer arrived 5 minutes before opening and found a small line outside the restaurant, as well as another line on a separate island. The system of waiting in line is similar to the previous restaurant "Uchoku," which closed due to issues, but this new place seems to be managing well. Customers waiting in line are cooperative and help each other find seats inside. The reviewer ordered the Chashu Ramen for 1100 yen, and noted that ordering this ramen comes with a free bowl of rice. The interior of the restaurant is small with only counter seating. The reviewer found the service to be smooth and efficient. The ramen was served in a slightly small bowl with a strong aroma of dried fish in the soup, combined with the richness of animal flavors. The reviewer found the soup to be impactful with a well-balanced soy sauce flavor. The noodles were medium-thin and had a soft and chewy texture, complementing the bold soup well. The chashu was fatty and juicy, and the menma had a crunchy texture with a strong aroma. The reviewer enjoyed adding the chashu to the rice to create a chashu rice bowl. Overall, the reviewer appreciated the unique flavors and harmonious combination of ingredients in the ramen.

I visited this shop located about a 7-minute walk from JR Chuo Line Ogikubo Station North Exit. There is no sign with the shop name outside, so it's easy to miss at first glance. There was no wait when I arrived at 14:20. There were 5 customers before me and 13 customers after me. The shop has only 7 counter seats with no partitions. I purchased the Ramen (large serving) for 1040 yen from the ticket machine. The shop owner used to work at Kamon Negi and Oyakata Chuka Soba Ayagawa before opening his own shop. There were 2 staff members working. The ramen was served 5 minutes later. The soup had a clear amber color with a soy sauce base and a pleasant aroma of dried bonito, poured generously into the bowl, and was very tasty while still piping hot. The noodles were medium-thin and straight, cooked to the perfect firmness and delicious. Since I ordered a large serving, I was satisfied with the portion size. The toppings included chashu, menma, green onions, naruto, and nori. On the table, there were condiments like shichimi, green chili miso, mustard, and chashu bowl sauce. The impressive part was the deliciousness of the soup. I was lucky to get in without waiting, but when I finished eating and came out, there were about 7 people waiting in line. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this place for the first time, which was opened in the former location of Uchoku after it closed. I ordered the Ajitama Ramen for 1040 yen. It was relatively quiet and the dish was served promptly. The soup had a deep flavor of seafood, and the straight noodles complemented it well. The chashu was delicious without being too heavy.

JR East Chuo Line Ogikubo Station North Exit, 7 minutes walk【Weekdays】11:00-15:00/17:00-21:30【Sat/Sun/Holidays】11:00-21:30【Queue】5 people after PP【Seating】Owner + 7 counter seats, self-service water, ticket system【Order】'Ajitama Wonton Noodles' 1250 yen【Overall】Well, first of all, let me apologize. Haha, there is ramen! Sorry about that! Haha, for details, please refer to the previous review by Rinshi Houhin. Haha, well, I visited the now popular there is ramen located in Ogikubo, which is the former location of the renowned tsukemen shop Unao. The owner of there is ramen has worked at popular shops like Ayagawa in Ebisu and Kamoto Negi in Ueno, so there is pressure following Unao, but the buzz around it is quite high, so I have high expectations. So, let's get started. Arriving in Ogikubo, I head towards the shop. I don't need Google Maps since I was here recently. Huh!? The famous Yoshida Curry in Ogikubo was located here! I had no idea at all. Haha, I might visit it someday. Turning into a side street next to Yoshida Curry, I find the shop. I arrive 10 minutes early, and there are waiting chairs set up in front of the shop, which is a relief. After getting the PP, a couple arrives, followed by a few more customers lining up. At the appointed time, the owner opens the shutter and I buy a ticket, hand it to the owner at the counter, and wait for a while. The interior of the shop is clean. The dish is served in about 7 minutes! The clear soup is poured generously in the bowl, and the wonton is smooth, with a retro feel from the naruto in the center. I take a sip of the soup, and the dried fish comes to the forefront... However, there is no strange smell or off-flavor. The soup is mainly seafood-based, with very little animal flavor. It's probably very delicious if it's your preference. Next, the noodles are thin and straight, not too firm, with a good texture and good soup absorption. I'm not sure if it's homemade noodles or from a supplier. The chashu is fatty but moist and easy to eat. The wonton is made only with the skin, which is smooth and perfect for swallowing, but I thought it would have been better with filling inside. The ajitama is creamy and delicious, as shown in the photo. The menma is crunchy and good. I check several times with the spoon to see if there is any animal flavor, but I don't feel any. The overall volume is not that much, so I finish it all! Apologies, but I couldn't finish the soup completely. Well, this would likely receive high ratings from those who like dried fish broth. I personally don't like this type of soup, but I didn't find it off-putting and it was easy to eat. So in that sense, even those who don't like dried fish broth can eat it. On the other hand, fans of rich and bitter dried fish broth like Ibuki or Nishikawa may find it lacking. So, it's a very easy-to-eat dried fish and seafood ramen. The owner manages the shop alone, even for evening hours, so I'm concerned about their health, but their smile and polite service are excellent. In terms of cost performance, the wonton noodles are decent, but it's better to order the chashu noodles. I highly recommend this shop to dried fish broth fans. It can easily compete with the level of dried fish broth shops among the top 100. Well, with this, I'll probably be able to complete 2023 without doing anything. Haha, there is ramen! Thank you for the meal!

The menu is quite simple. I chose the ramen with seasoned boiled egg and char siu topping, with the egg served on a separate plate. The soy sauce-based soup was piping hot with a savory aroma. Honestly, I'm not a fan of hot soup, so I tried to let it cool down a bit before eating. The noodles were thin and smooth, and the wontons had just the skin without any filling, floating lightly in the soup. It wasn't bad, but the hot soup temperature, separate egg plate, meatless wontons were not quite to my liking. It might just be a matter of personal preference.

【Order】Flavored egg and chashu ramen【Price】1350 yen【Rating】Located a 4-minute walk from Ogikubo Station. Not crowded on holidays at night, easy to get a seat. Previously, the location was a bit hard to find. The clear soup made from dried sardines pairs well with the straight medium-thick noodles. The flavored oil perfectly balances between "rich" and "light". The tender pork belly chashu covering the entire bowl is also very delicious. It's nice that the flavored egg is served on a separate plate. Definitely a strong contender for the next Ramen Hyakumeiten list. Thank you for the meal.

I usually only eat light and clear broth ramen, but I decided to try a bonito-based ramen for the first time in a while because it had a rating of over 3.8 on Tabelog. The verdict is, I still don't really understand the appeal of bonito-based ramen. For those who prefer light broths, if you're looking to eat ramen in Ogikubo, I recommend Menso-rage. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!

Wonton Men - 1,100 yen I visited this restaurant on a weekend in mid-September for lunch. There were 5 customers when I arrived and 1 customer came in after me. After attending a sauna event in Koenji, I came here for a sauna meal, just 2 stations away. The restaurant is located in a quiet residential area with an inconspicuous exterior. However, I found out that this place used to be the famous restaurant "Unaoi". As soon as you enter, there is a ticket machine. The space is small, and when I turned around, my backpack accidentally touched the person sitting behind me. I ordered the wonton men from the ticket machine. The ramen menu consists only of soy sauce ramen with options like chashu men, wonton men, and seasoned egg. I chose the wonton men. The message on the ticket machine says, "Let's live a life where we think a bowl of ramen is delicious." In simple terms, the owner wants customers to appreciate the ramen for what it is without getting caught up in the details of the ingredients and cooking process. The counter seats were available, so I sat down. The restaurant is small with only 7 counter seats, and the male owner was running the place alone. They are currently looking for part-time staff for weekends. After a short wait, a small bowl of ramen arrived. Let's start with the soup. The soup had a strong flavor of dried fish oil with a balanced saltiness from soy sauce, and the glossy dried fish flavor spread nicely, supported by a well-balanced animal-based broth. The soup was delicious! The dried fish lard oil had a thick and hot richness, the dried fish had a clean umami taste, and the base was not heavy but had a rich umami body. The noodles were thin, straight noodles with low water content. They picked up the soup well and had a good harmony with it, with a good cohesion of quality wheat. The noodles were not too hard when boiled, just right. The noodle portion felt like around 150g. The toppings included chashu, wonton, menma, seaweed, and green onions. The pork belly chashu had a good distribution of fat, melted in the mouth, and had plenty of meaty flavor. The wonton was just the skin, slippery and chewy. There were condiments like Japanese mustard, green chili miso, and fresh red pepper on the table. They all paired perfectly with the wonton. The thin menma had a pleasant crunchy texture. The seaweed wrapped around the noodles well, and the green onions were a nice addition to the dish. I finished the meal in no time. Sauna meals are often said to be very delicious after a sauna session. However, I always thought they weren't as great as people say... but this ramen changed my mind. It was the best sauna meal I've ever had. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen looks light but is surprisingly rich. The combination of wonton and soup is excellent! The tenderness of the chashu is exquisite! The soup is a bit salty but has a strong umami flavor that is delicious! The fact that they serve Heartland beer pairs well with this refreshing ramen!

Located a little off the Aome street, it took a bit of searching to find this place as there were no prominent signs. I ordered the ramen for ¥890. The ramen arrived fairly quickly after handing over the ticket. The soup was thick and full of umami from the dried sardines, which whetted my appetite. Unlike the murky color of soup commonly seen in other dried sardine ramen shops, this one had a clear broth. The flavor was a soy sauce-based dried sardine soup, with a strong umami taste and a mild bitterness, making it very easy to drink. The noodles were thin straight noodles that paired perfectly with the slightly oily soup. My friend ordered the chashu ramen, which also looked really delicious. The appearance was reminiscent of Owari ramen, which got me excited. Even if you're not a fan of dried sardine ramen, I think you would still enjoy the ramen at this place. It's easy to eat without worrying about feeling heavy afterwards. Most importantly, it was delicious. Definitely worth a visit when you're in Ogikubo. Thank you for the meal!

There is Ramen in Ogikubo. I went there because I was curious about it being closed in the evening when I wanted to try their ramen. It opened last October in the location previously known for its famous tsukemen in Uchisaiwaicho. It's about a 5-minute walk from Ogikubo Station West Exit. I found the neon Naruto sign at the end of a narrow alley. I arrived smoothly at 6:50 pm on a Tuesday. I ordered the Chashu Ramen today. The buttons on the ticket machine are large, making it easy to understand the recommendations. The ramen arrived in about 7 minutes. The bowl was small but filled to the brim with soup. It's necessary to have a saucer when transferring from the counter to the table as it tends to spill. The sight of plenty of chashu was irresistible. The soup was very hot with plenty of oil. The flavor of the simple yet rich bonito broth was delicious! The noodles were medium-thick and straight, complementing the soup well and easy to slurp. The chashu was tender and fatty pork belly slices, melting in the mouth without feeling heavy. The thin menma had a good chewy texture, making it a nice palate cleanser. At first, I thought the bowl was small, but it was deep enough and just the right amount to finish satisfyingly.

Visited 5 minutes before 18:00, lined up with 3 people before the opening. Ordered the Ramen with seasoned egg and extra pork topping, served with a large portion of rice (with pork). Priced at 1700 yen. The golden-colored soup with a strong bonito flavor was incredibly delicious. The pork was tender and melted in your mouth, and the white rice came with a little pork and green onions. Topped it off with a seasoned egg and more green onions, and enjoyed it with the pork sauce, mustard, and spicy miso provided on the table.

[Store Overview] Visited on a weekday at 12:10, with 5 customers already seated, all male individuals in casual attire. The interior of the restaurant was still new and clean, and later a solo female customer also entered. The restaurant had a counter with 7 seats, and background music was playing on the radio. There was no waiting line, and no rules about purchasing food tickets were displayed. [Order] Egg and Wonton Noodle Soup - 1,250 yen [Impressions] The soup had a light and flavorful broth made from dried sardines, reminiscent of the respected shops in Ogikubo like Harukiya. It wasn't heavy on soy sauce but had a rich sweetness, combining the best of Kanto and Kansai flavors. The wontons were filled with just skin, providing a chewy texture. The medium-thick straight noodles paired well with the gentle soup, and the addition of tableside spicy miso complemented the dish nicely. Overall, it was a delicious meal, and I believe this is a top-notch restaurant.

I came to the west side where I don't usually go on a holiday to work, so I hurriedly left work and went for some ramen activity on my way back. I had always wanted to try this place that opened after Guchoku, so I went there. I arrived around 11:20 am, and there were about 4 people in line. The turnover was quick, with customers entering the store after waiting for about 15 minutes. The menu is simple, but I was impressed that they are open all day on weekends and holidays. When the ramen arrived, it looked smaller than in the picture. I was the only one in the store who ordered white rice, so I was a bit nervous. The ramen with extra char siu came with a complimentary bowl of white rice, and it was hot and oily. The soup was a delicious broth with a strong umami flavor, and the tender char siu was also delicious. Normally I would have ordered it on rice, but the size was just right to eat it with the noodles. The seasoned egg was served on a separate plate, and I realized it was meant to be picked up with chopsticks. It was too soft to pick up with chopsticks, but that could just be my lack of skill. Lastly, the white rice was brought to the table with an extra piece of char siu on top, so I mixed it with the tender seasoned egg to make my own rice bowl for a satisfying finish. There was also mustard on the table for those who like it, which was a nice touch. I couldn't help but envy the person at the next table who ordered a Heartland beer, and I peeked at it with longing eyes. I imagined dipping the char siu and green onions in mustard and washing it down with beer. Next time, I dream of trying the wonton noodles.

Visited on 10th September 2023 at 10:15. There was one person waiting, so I was second in line waiting for the store to open. At 10:30, there were four people in line. The store opened 10 minutes early at 10:50. At that time, there were eight people in line. I purchased a ticket for the Ajitama Chashu Ramen (1,350 yen). The ramen was served at 10:57. The soup had a clear soy sauce flavor with a hint of dried fish, not too overpowering. The noodles were thin and firm, typical of dried fish ramen. The chashu slices were thin but there were plenty of them, providing a satisfying meal. Overall, it was a simple and enjoyable dried fish ramen that would appeal to anyone. When I left, there were five people in line.

Visited at 2:10 PM on Sunday. There were 5 people waiting outside, so I decided to wait until 2:25 PM to enter. I couldn't see anyone waiting behind me after I entered, so 2:30 PM might have been the best time to visit today. I ordered ramen for 890 yen and added white rice for 150 yen, totaling 1,040 yen. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served. The bowl was small. The soup was extremely hot but delicious. The noodles weren't to my liking, but the chashu and menma were tasty. The white rice had a lot of fatty pieces, which was a bit too much for me.

Char siu ramen for 1,200 yen. Extra noodles for 150 yen. The deliciousness remains as good as ever. This place has definitely become popular. It's rare for a fish broth ramen, but the fish flavor is not too strong. It's more on the lighter side with a soy sauce base. The soup is incredibly well-balanced. Adding mustard for a flavor change is also an option. The thin straight noodles are smooth and slippery. They're on the softer side. The char siu is also delicious and tender, soaking up the soup well. Arrived on a Saturday at 3:07 PM. The restaurant was full but no waiting line. Got served in about 5 minutes. Received the dish at 3:26 PM.

If you walk about 5 minutes from Ogikubo Station towards Kiyomizu, you will find a shop. It is located in a quiet residential area with a slightly stylish atmosphere. I visited around 3 pm and was able to enter without waiting in line. I ordered the Wonton Men for 1100 yen. When the dish arrived, I was impressed by the soup. The soup had a delicious flavor of dried bonito without any bitterness or unpleasant taste, and the abundance of oil added a smoothness to it. It was an amazing soup. I couldn't help but exclaim "wow" out loud. I couldn't resist slurping the noodles. Oh, it was delicious. The aroma, taste, and texture were all the best I've ever had in a dried bonito ramen. The wonton had no meat, and although I initially wanted meat, the fluffy texture of the wonton paired perfectly with the divine soup, making my mouth happy. After finishing the soup, I ordered a bowl of white rice for 150 yen. Surprisingly, the white rice came with chunks of char siu on top. I poured the char siu sauce over it and savored every bite. I thought I was satisfied, but soon enough, I found myself craving that ramen again. I will definitely visit again without waiting too long. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the restaurant around 11:15 am without any waiting. I ordered the wonton noodles for 1100 yen, with an additional 300 yen for extra chashu. There was no extra charge for adding more fat, which they don't even have here. I am grateful to be able to eat Japanese ramen at this price. The ramen here was delicious, with a broth made from dried sardines and animal bones. It was a bit oily and rich, but well-balanced. While standard ramen places tend to be similar, this one stood out due to the owner's unique touch.

Visited around 13:30, there were seats available in the empty restaurant. Only counter seating for about 7 people. Ordered Wonton Men for 1100 yen. The soup had a strong umami flavor from the dried sardines without any bitterness, very delicious. The noodles were medium-thin straight noodles. The chashu was flavorful and tender, almost melting in the mouth. The bamboo shoots were also well-seasoned. The wontons had no filling, just the skin, but they soaked up the soup well, providing a fun texture contrast. Overall, the ramen was of high quality, especially the soup which remained delicious until the last drop.

It is about a 5-6 minute walk from Ogikubo Station. I visited around 4 pm on the weekend, as they have continuous service. There was no wait, so I was seated right away. The Chashu ramen had a strong flavor of dried fish in the soup and was very delicious. The pork belly Chashu was also very tasty and tender. The combination of flavored egg, Chashu ramen, and beer was excellent.
