Well, today I actively invited them out. "Where should we get takeout from?" They mentioned seafood bowl yesterday, but this morning it changed to tonkatsu. And then after lunch it was back to seafood bowl... Well, that's normal (>_<) We've already been to the One-Coin Seafood Bowl in Atsubetsu, so this time we went here. They had misunderstood that the seafood bowl I suggested was a few thousand yen, so they suddenly became happier. ← Easily pleased ・Seafood Bowl 540 yen Tuna, salmon, squid, scallop, shrimp, marinated mackerel, salmon roe. First of all, the sushi rice wasn't really to my liking. Isn't it too firm? The tuna is obviously not top quality, but it's not that bad. The salmon doesn't taste very fresh. The squid, scallop, and shrimp are not bad, but... The marinated mackerel is understandable for takeout. The salmon roe is sweet. For a one-coin meal, it's acceptable. It seems like it would be fun to order with a more limited selection of toppings. But I couldn't find a reason why this place is a must-visit. There are similar restaurants nearby, so I might not come back here... unless I feel like it. Thanks for the meal (^o^)

During my first visit to Asahikawa in November 2020 for a business trip, I quite liked "Hokkai Donmaru" restaurant. In Asahikawa, it was very convenient as "Donmaru Hokkaido Asahikawa branch". There was also a branch in the Kaisei area near my home, but unfortunately, it closed down. The closest option now is this Kitashiroishi branch. I visited for a home lunch and tried the "Seafood Bowl" for 540 yen. As always, I struggled with the numerous menu options. I decided to go with a classic and standard menu choice. The bowl included yellowtail tuna, scallops, shrimp, chili salmon, salmon roe, mackerel, and squid. The seven types of toppings were decent for the price. I later regretted not going for the "daily special". The vinegar rice was a bit strong in vinegar flavor and cold and firm. I felt like the vinegar rice was lacking. The idea of a one-coin seafood bowl was good initially, but with this quality, it might not be able to compete with 100-yen conveyor belt sushi. Perhaps this is why the restaurant is not thriving. By the way, it seems like the "Donmaru" restaurant in Asahikawa has also closed down.

This chain store is also expanding in Sapporo, with about 10 stores already. It's great to be able to eat a seafood bowl for just one coin! There are many types to choose from, which can be overwhelming. The parking lot here is in front of the store. It didn't take long for my order to be ready after the previous customer left. I chose the tuna and sea urchin bowl, but the tuna was average and the sea urchin was bitter. That's to be expected at this price. The rice is vinegared and there is a good amount of it. There were only four pieces of tuna for the side dish. But I was satisfied at this price. It's enjoyable to have so many menu options. I will definitely have a hard time deciding next time too.

Visited a restaurant on November 16, 2016 that serves seafood bowls for 500 yen each (excluding tax). The basic price for all menu items is 500 yen. You can also add extra toppings or rice for an additional fee. With so many menu options, it was hard to decide what to order. I ended up ordering an eel bowl and a salmon roe and whitebait bowl, totaling 1,080 yen. It's a good deal for the price. I took the food home to eat and thought it was worth the 500 yen. Thank you for the meal!

▽ Hokkai Bowl 500 yen + tax ▽ (April 2016)
A luxurious bowl featuring ikura, uni, kazunoko, salmon, scallops, tobiko, and crab flakes. Each ingredient was delicious, especially the salmon and kazunoko. The ikura was also quite tasty. The vinegar rice had a good portion, and overall, it was a delicious and satisfying meal.
▼Impressions▼ (April 2016)
This is a rapidly growing seafood bowl chain offering one-coin (+tax) bowls nationwide. With around 60 different seafood bowls to choose from, there is a rich selection to enjoy. This branch opened on April 26, 2016, as the fourth Donmaru branch in Sapporo under the name "Hokkai Donmaru." While I had previously visited another Donmaru branch in Sapporo, this was my first time at Hokkai Donmaru. The basics seemed quite similar, which was reassuring. I opted for the Hokkai Bowl this time, which was filled with various toppings. Despite not being exceptional, the seafood bowl was tasty and offered a satisfying portion. The overall experience was highly enjoyable. With more branches planned to open in Hokkaido, I look forward to visiting them in the future.

I'm happy with this place. The rice might be a bit too vinegary though.

Today was another busy and hectic day, and as lunchtime passed, I found myself feeling a bit anxious about the approaching 2 o'clock hour. Just when I was pondering about last call or closing time, a large sign caught my eye with the words "Donburi Maru". I was immediately drawn in. Inside the restaurant, there was a counter and the menu displayed on the wall. With everything priced at 540 yen including tax, it was easy to decide based on my preference for toppings. However, the wide variety of choices made it difficult to choose, so I decided to follow the top-left rule and ordered the "Seafood Donburi (540 yen tax included)". There were options for extra rice, extra toppings, or both, and I opted for extra toppings. The donburi was quickly prepared, and I took it to a nearby park to enjoy. The toppings included salmon, mackerel, scallops, ikura, sweet shrimp, squid, and tuna. I mixed wasabi with soy sauce and poured it over each topping before savoring them individually. The rice was slightly sweet and there was a surprising amount of it. As I reflected on the 648 yen I paid, I realized that I had ordered extra toppings but received extra rice instead. Despite the mix-up, I appreciated the convenience of getting takeout and quickly finishing my meal before returning to work. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the "Shrimp Mayo Bowl" for 500 yen. It was just okay, nothing special. The shrimp portion was decent for the price. I'm not a fan of this kind of place, but it was edible. I'll think about what to try next time.
