After a long time, my colleague and I went out for sushi. Usually, we reserve seats at the counter, but this time it was packed with regular customers, so we ended up in a semi-private room. We decided to split the bill and order whatever sushi and drinks we wanted. We started with a seafood appetizer of sea grapes, seaweed, and ponzu sauce, which I enjoyed because I like the texture of sea grapes. We then ordered a sashimi platter each, with various types of fish like squid, herring roe, mackerel, scallop, bonito, and more. I particularly liked the squid and bonito with grated new onion. We also ordered tuna, medium fatty tuna, flounder marinated in kelp, young sea bream, amberjack, cherry salmon, and sea urchin. We drank bottled beer, sake, and sparkling wine as we chatted. We also had cucumber rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and finished with tamagoyaki. The sushi rice, pickled ginger, and tamagoyaki were all delicious. Despite the noisy regular customers, we enjoyed our meal and paid only 14,480 yen for my share of the bill. It was a great dining experience.
