Today, I went to Kyubei-san after a long time. I used to come here frequently when my office was nearby. The first time I came here, it was the main Kyubei-san, and I was still young. I remember feeling like I had become an adult when I had lunch alone for the first time here. Today, I had the chef's choice lunch. The dishes I had in order were: wakame salad, Karei (flatfish), Chutoro (medium fatty tuna), Kanpachi (amberjack), bettara-zuke (pickled daikon), Aoriika (bigfin reef squid), modori-gatsuo (skipjack tuna), hirame (flounder), uni (sea urchin), kuruma-ebi (tiger prawn), nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) yakimono (grilled), otoro (fatty tuna), kohada (gizzard shad), anago (sea eel) two ways, tekka maki (tuna roll), shijimi miso soup. The Karei and nodoguro yakimono were delicious. The kuruma-ebi was slightly seared as I'm not a fan of raw shrimp, and it was just right and delicious. On the other hand, the tuna varieties seemed to be from Ireland and had a somewhat mushy texture, so they were not that great. In the past, no matter what I ate here, I would always think, "Delicious!" and "Expensive!" but now, as I write this somewhat critical review, I realize that my palate has become a bit more refined from trying various other restaurants. It's a bit lonely but also nostalgic to feel this way as I left the restaurant. Of course, the meal was delicious! Thank you!
