I finally had lunch buffet at the much-anticipated Hotel Okura! I had simulated the experience beforehand, but upon arrival, I couldn't contain my excitement and was really looking forward to it. It started at 11:30 am, and I arrived about 10 minutes early, but there were already many customers. First, I went for the tempura, which I was most excited about! I tried eggplant, smelt fish, and shrimp. They were all crispy and delicious, especially the eggplant which was incredibly tender. The shrimp and smelt fish were also very tasty with no fishy smell. They were served with matcha salt, plum salt, rock salt, and tempura dipping sauce. Next, I had the domestic beef steak cooked medium rare, and it was incredibly juicy and delicious, not like any buffet meat I've had before. The roast beef was tender and melted in my mouth, it was so good. The sushi was made with red vinegar, giving it a refreshing taste, and the fish was very fresh, especially the tuna. The marinated conger eel with onions was also a standout dish that I kept going back for. The freshly baked pizza was a hit, and all the other dishes were equally delicious. For dessert, I indulged in the popular super melon shortcake, which had just the right amount of sweetness. I would love to visit again, thank you for the wonderful meal!

Today's lunch was also Goto Eat. Unfortunately, I only have 10 days left until the expiration date of Goto Eat, so I decided to use it at a hotel buffet for the first time, at Hotel New Otani's The Sky. I found a good deal through a club off (Lilo Club?) advance reservation, where the price was reduced from 11,385 yen to 10,800 yen. Initially, booking directly through the hotel's website may seem cheaper at 9,900 yen, but with an additional 15% service charge (increased from 10% starting October 1, 2022), the total comes to 11,385 yen, making the club off reservation a better deal. I tried to make a reservation online on the morning of January 17th at 8:30 am, but it was already fully booked. I tried to change the date, but the only available lunch reservation during the Goto Eat period was on Thursday, which I couldn't make due to other commitments. It seems like many people who stocked up on Goto Eat vouchers are trying to use them all at once. As a last resort, I called the reservation line at 10:00 am and managed to secure a reservation for 12:30 pm. Upon arrival, I was impressed by the panoramic view and the variety of dishes available at the buffet. The salad and appetizer section was extensive and delicious. The Western, Chinese, and rice bowl section offered tasty options, including a flavorful beef curry and beef stew. The sushi, roast beef, and ikura were particularly delicious. The tempura station allowed for personalized tempura dishes, which were enjoyable with the dipping sauces provided. The buffet also featured a steak, hamburger, and roast beef section, which pleasantly surprised me with the high-quality and delicious steak. Despite feeling quite full, I couldn't resist going back for more of the steak. The dessert section was equally tempting, with a variety of sweet treats to choose from. After enjoying a satisfying meal, I settled the bill using Goto Eat vouchers and some cash. I took a stroll in the Japanese garden to burn off some calories before heading home.

Located on the 17th floor of the Main Building of Hotel New Otani, VIEW&DINING THE SKY offers a luxurious space where you can enjoy a buffet while overlooking the almost central view of Japan. From salads and bruschetta to soups, freshly made sushi, tempura, teppanyaki, and desserts from SATSUKI, you can indulge in a paradise-like experience. The highlight here is the teppanyaki, featuring domestic beef that is rich and flavorful. The quality of the meat is so good that it's frustrating not being able to eat more. The shabu-shabu, made with black wagyu beef, is also delicious, but the ponzu sauce and richness make it filling, leaving no room for seconds. Other options like small hamburgers and scallops sautéed in butter are also available. The roast beef, made with US prime beef, is less popular compared to the teppanyaki. The sushi, although not made with bluefin tuna, is still enjoyable, especially the sea bream and Nordic salmon roe. The beef stew made with white miso, black vinegar sweet and sour pork, and sea bream steamed in white wine were also delicious. The rice bowl corner offers a variety of options like sauce cutlet bowl, two-color curry, steak bowl, and tempura bowl, but it would be nice to have the option to freely take rice to enjoy with the meat from the teppanyaki corner. For dessert, there are cakes, pancakes, and gelato available. Personally, I couldn't resist the super melon gelato. Overall, the atmosphere and view are top-notch, making this buffet at the peak of excellence. If only there was room for more in the stomach. However, please note that drinks are not included and are charged separately.

I visited the famous hotel New Otani's the sky buffet for the first time. The price is not cheap, but I was quite satisfied. The appetizers, Chinese food, teppanyaki, tempura, red vinegar sushi, abundant desserts, and of course, the taste overall was good. It was nice to be able to stay for 2 hours leisurely. The view was beautiful, and it seemed like there were separate seats for guests with children and those without, making it comfortable for everyone to enjoy their time.

Teppanyaki, sushi, and tempura are advertised as being served freshly made, but in reality only the sushi and tempura are fresh, while the teppanyaki is reheated. As a result, the sea bream is dry from being overcooked, and the meat is cold. The meat used has a lot of fat, so unless it's piping hot, it tastes too greasy, and just one piece is enough to fill you up. Soft drinks are all charged except for water, there's nothing noteworthy about the service, the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant are no better than a regular buffet. With all these flaws, a 15% service charge is way too high. There are many other negative aspects, but I'll leave it at that. This meal felt like the beginning of a decline for this long-standing hotel.

Originally, I was planning to use the buffet at VIEW&DINING THE Sky at Hotel New Otani on August 15th, but due to the approaching typhoon and the possibility of transportation disruptions, I decided to go on August 12th instead. I arrived at Akasaka-Mitsuke at 4:46 PM, bought some stomach medicine at a nearby pharmacy, and then hurried to Hotel New Otani, taking the elevator to the main 17th floor where VIEW&DINING THE Sky is located. Upon arrival, I was greeted and escorted to my table by two young female staff members in a relay fashion. The table I was seated at offered a view of the Tokyo Tower, the Akasaka-Mitsuke area, and the summer pool, which made me very happy. I then enjoyed a two-hour dinner buffet starting at 5 PM. I started with sushi, specifically yellowtail and rarely eaten kanburi (winter yellowtail) nigiri sushi. They both melted in my mouth and were full of flavor. Next, I had Peking duck, wagyu beef with butter soy sauce, and sautéed lamb chops with white rice, all of which were delicious and complemented the rice perfectly. I then tried Canadian lobster and Ehime sea bream teppanyaki, drizzled with burnt butter sauce and served with whipped butter on croissants. The rich flavors of the lobster, sea bream, and croissants were a perfect match. I also enjoyed J cereal mixed grain rice with grated ponzu sauce on Japanese beef sirloin steak, along with fresh vegetables. After savoring these dishes, I had nigiri sushi again with probiotic miso soup, including yellowtail, kanburi, domestic eel, and salmon roe battleship sushi. I also had a second round of shrimp chili, lamb chops, and wagyu beef, all of which were rich in flavor. The lamb chops had a rich flavor that spread in my mouth with each bite, while the wagyu beef had a delicious combination of butter, soy sauce, vegetables, and beef. For dessert, I had five servings of vanilla ice cream, six servings of vanilla kugelhopf, milk gelato, Basque cheesecake, Mont Blanc, and Opera cake. The Mont Blanc with chestnut paste, whipped cream, and sponge had a perfect sweetness, and the Opera cake with its rich chocolate was outstanding. The exceptional food and the heartfelt service from the diverse staff made my experience very satisfying.

Enjoy breakfast at VIEW & DINING THE SKY on the 17th floor of Hotel New Otani Tokyo, overlooking Tokyo with a panoramic view. The new ultimate breakfast costs 6,500 yen (70-minute limit) and includes a classic omelette cooked right in front of you upon ordering. There may be a wait of over 20 minutes depending on the time, so early mornings or right before closing time are recommended. This season, the recommended dish is the white omelette with bitter melon and corn. You can also add ham, cheese, mushrooms, and more. The Japanese corner offers soy sauce-marinated salmon roe, pickles, and pickled plums. They also have rice cooked with spring water from Kannon Onsen and original J cereal with eight grains. The Western corner features juicy cut steak, xiaolongbao, and shumai. The bread corner offers pralines from Pierre Hermé Paris. Desserts include lychee, melon, various fruits, and yogurt. This luxurious breakfast combines Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine in the best way possible. August is busy with families due to summer vacation. Thank you for the feast.

Having a buffet dinner at a hotel with someone special on a weekday night was a great experience. We started at 7:00 PM, and although it was still bright outside, the atmosphere gradually became darker, creating a nice mood. The buffet was lively, but not too formal, allowing us to enjoy ourselves. The food was delicious, especially the dishes prepared right in front of us, which were warm and extra tasty. The roast beef and tempura were particularly good. But the highlight was definitely the cakes at SATSUKI (melon shortcake, mango shortcake, and regular shortcake). You could eat as many as you wanted, but it's best to pace yourself and enjoy them when you still have room in your stomach! It was interesting to see the food being made right in front of us, and it made me wonder if this was a way to reduce food waste and enhance the performance. There were a mix of business people, students, and groups of friends, making it a versatile and enjoyable buffet experience. Thank you for a fun and delicious time! ♡

It's a buffet. I visited for lunch. I couldn't make a reservation through OZmall or Ikkyu two weeks ago, but I was able to make one through the official website. I had informed them of my allergies in advance, and I was impressed when they gave me a personalized allergy chart when I was seated! The food was all delicious, but the tempura where you can have your favorite ingredients fried on the spot was so crispy and I could eat as much as I wanted! The steak with a choice of sauce was also tender and delicious. The overflowing ikura sushi, thick scallops grilled right in front of you, it was a luxurious time. It's frustrating how quickly you get full! The desserts are also very delicious, and there are mini versions of the Extra Super Melon Shortcake available from the hotel's "Patisserie SATSUKI"! Buying a cake at SATSUKI costs ¥4320 for one piece, so having it all-you-can-eat is quite a deal! The view is great, and it was the best lunch. ¥12,000 + 15% service charge Dress code: Smart Casual

★This was my first time having lunch at Nagatacho. The view was great and it was a very nice space! I had been preparing to eat a lot for days, but I was quickly defeated by the sweet fat of the meat at the teppanyaki corner and couldn't eat much... The roast beef is from the US, but the steak is Japanese beef and very juicy. After trying various meats for the first time, I refreshed my stomach with sushi and pickled ginger, then I ate lots of my favorite melon shortcake and pancakes♪ Even though I wanted to try various rice bowls and tempura, I couldn't fully enjoy them with the rich flavors and juicy meat. I think the variety of dishes and performances at the hotel buffet are very good, so I believe it will be well received for family gatherings or when hosting guests☺︎ I prefer sweets that are not too sweet and elegant. Thank you for the meal☺︎

I visited for my husband's birthday celebration. Although we didn't reserve a private room, we were seated in a semi-private area with partitions because we had children with us. There were many families with children, and since it was a buffet style, we could enjoy ourselves without worrying too much about the kids making noise. The food, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, and desserts, was of a higher quality than other buffet restaurants, with freshly made sushi, tempura, and steak available, which was very nice. However, overall, the flavors were on the rich side, giving the impression that they were meant to go well with alcohol. It was a bit disappointing that drinks, including coffee, were not included in the price.

I used it for a meal with friends I hadn't seen in a while. My friends love to eat out, so I was worried about choosing a place, but I was very satisfied. The carving service offers "steak" and "yakiniku" made with domestic beef, and the roast beef is made with prime beef. Of course, it's all-you-can-eat. The sushi is made by a skilled chef after you order, and it has red vinegar rice. The tempura also has a variety of toppings, and they fry it after you order. For dessert, they offer desserts from Hotel New Otani's "SATUKI" and Pierre Herme, and they even have souffle pancakes. The cost performance is quite good. I definitely want to visit for dinner next time.

It feels like they have everything, with a buffet lined up with a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Just walking from one end of the buffet table to the other can be quite a workout (or maybe that's just my imagination, haha). The price may make it seem like a dream for everyday use, but on days when you're thinking "I want to eat something delicious but can't decide what," being able to come here would be very fulfilling. The dishes are more on the standard side. There are few dishes with unfamiliar names. The variety is vast, and I couldn't conquer all of it at once. The taste, though it may sound cliché, is very delicious. It's not extremely distinctive, but the simplicity of the flavors just makes it satisfyingly delicious. They have teppanyaki, grilled steak, freshly fried tempura, tender roast beef, roast chicken, pizza, steamed Japanese dishes, stir-fried Chinese dishes, tendon, steak donburi, curry, etc... There are desserts like pancakes, about 10 different cakes, various ice creams and sorbets. The cakes that the hotel boasts as part of the "Super Series" are indeed impressive with their creamy texture and moist sponge, but I found all the other desserts to be equally outstanding. There isn't one standout item that you must try (except maybe everything), but if you choose what looks delicious, you'll definitely enjoy the buffet. The view is great, and the open surroundings might be intimidating for those with a fear of heights. Because of this, the atmosphere feels slightly tense. The "Imperial Viking Hall" at the Imperial Hotel may have a slightly friendlier atmosphere. (This impression may be due to my more frequent visits to the "Hall.") The price may be a concern, but if you're looking to enjoy a meal, it's worth the splurge! Personally, I prefer to fully enjoy an experience rather than settle for something mediocre, so as an occasional luxury treat, I am very satisfied.

I was treated to a feast for my birthday celebration (1.5 months late). Steak, grilled shabu-shabu, sushi, tempura, Chinese cuisine, and dessert were all-you-can-eat. Everything is cooked on the spot, so you can enjoy the fresh taste. Plus, the view of Tokyo from the 17th floor is amazing and enhances the deliciousness! Thank you very much for the meal, it's a restaurant I would like to visit again!

In May 2023, I revisited the buffet restaurant on the 17th floor of the main building of Hotel New Otani, where my niece works. My son, daughter, their families, and 11 of us gathered for a belated birthday celebration and school entrance celebration. Every dish was delicious and lived up to the name of New Otani, but the freshly fried tempura and sushi with carefully selected toppings using red vinegar rice were exceptionally delicious. The attentive service provided by the staff was also very satisfying. Thank you for the feast. I ate too much and am feeling stuffed. After the meal, we took a stroll in the Red Rose Garden, where 30,000 red roses were in full bloom.

Weekend lunch course: 13,800 yen (tax included) *Buffet only. Drinks are extra. I visited VIEW & DINING THE SKY in Akasaka for a weekend lunch buffet. I don't usually go to hotel buffets, but I heard this one was really good, so I decided to try it out. I had heard good things about it from Instagram foodies, so I had high expectations. It's recommended as the best buffet at Hotel New Otani. The weekend lunch buffet gets booked up quickly, so make sure to reserve in advance. I made my reservation about a month in advance. The buffet is for 2 hours. The view from the 17th floor was beautiful, surrounded by greenery. The food was delicious, especially the sushi, tempura, and steak. The butter-grilled scallops were amazing. The highlight for me was the dessert buffet. Usually, I don't want to try everything, but this time I did, and I was impressed. The desserts were all delicious, especially the apple tart and the macarons. The coffee was also excellent. Overall, the buffet was a bit pricey at 15,000 yen with drinks included, but the luxurious and satisfying dining experience made it worth it. I look forward to saving up and trying more buffets in the future. I think I'm becoming a buffet enthusiast. Check it out for yourself! ❤

■Hotel New Otani, 5 minutes walk from Nagatacho Station■OverviewLocated on the top floor of New Otani, this buffet restaurant offers delicious meals with a great view in the heart of Tokyo. There are lunch and dinner sessions, each lasting for 2 hours, with lunch being slightly cheaper. By becoming a member of New Otani, you can earn points, enjoy ladies' day events, and get discounts.■MenuThe buffet includes various sections: - Salad, fruits - Appetizers (such as canapés) - Bread - Tempura - Sushi - Steak - Chinese, Western dishes - Desserts All dishes are of high quality, much tastier than regular hotel buffets. Sushi, tempura, and steak are prepared live upon order using top-notch ingredients. Chinese and Western dishes like sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu, and beef stew with tender meat chunks are delicious. Desserts include ice cream, cakes, and live-made pancakes, with the strawberry and melon shortcake being a must-try. Coffee and tea are refillable, adding to the value. It's common to take a break with a drink before diving back into the buffet.■ImpressionDespite the price, considering the quality and view, it's worth it. I've only been for lunch, so I'd like to try dinner next time. Thank you for the feast! #NewOtani #HotelBuffet

I thought about going to a cake buffet on my day off, but decided to splurge and go to New Otani to try the cakes from Patisserie SASAKI that you can't normally eat. It was difficult to try everything on the menu, but here are some highlights. The recommended item at the teppanyaki station was the steak. I'm not particularly picky about meat, but the tenderness and richness of the meat were very satisfying compared to shabu-shabu or roast beef. The sushi was made with red vinegar, which made it authentic, and the smaller-sized rice was a nice touch. The raw shrimp and amberjack were particularly good. The slightly cooked red snapper was also delicious. The tempura of megochi (a type of fish) and negi (green onion) was tasty. I wanted to try the tempura bowl, but I didn't want to waste rice so I resisted. Other popular buffet items like black vinegar sweet and sour pork, beef stew, and crab cream croquettes were delicious. And then there were the desserts. I pushed through even though I was already full. There were Pierre Herme macarons, a collaboration with Funabashiya for kuzumochi, and strawberry sweets for the Amaou Fair. However, the strawberry shortcake and melon shortcake from Patisserie SASAKI's Super Series were the best. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, but they were kept warm so I wished I could have had them freshly made at the live kitchen. After the meal, I saw a Petit Sweet Box from SASAKI for hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in the facility pamphlet, which contained 9 pieces for around 6,000 yen, so I think they make quite a profit from sweets alone. Although it's not good to try to break even at a place like this, I couldn't help being frugal... It was a very satisfying two hours where I enjoyed a variety of dishes. I ate too much, so I took a short walk in the garden before heading home. Thank you for the meal!

I was grateful for celebrating my 30th anniversary of service. Luckily, the weather was good, but the view from the revolving observation floor... Wait, it's not moving? I heard they stopped rotating a few years ago. Well, it can't be helped. I had a seat on the Shinjuku side, and I could see the State Guest House and the new National Stadium below. It was my first time having a buffet style meal in a while, and I tried to eat elegantly and in small portions, but it was impossible. I ended up eating continuously for 2 hours with my thrifty spirit fully engaged, and by the end, I could hardly taste anything. Nevertheless, it was quite delicious. Thanks to my great wife.

On March 18, when the Tokyu and Sotetsu New Yokohama Line opened and direct operation between the Tokyu Line and the Sotetsu Line began, I enjoyed a dinner buffet at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo's buffet restaurant, VIEW & DINING THE Sky, for the first time in about two months since January 8. Despite the disruptions in the schedules due to congestion on the Toyoko Line and Minatomirai Line throughout the day, I was able to arrive at VIEW & DINING THE Sky around 6:40 PM on a direct train from the Meguro Line of the Tokyu New Yokohama Line. Upon arrival, I was guided to my seat by a young female staff member after being handed over by a male staff member. It was my usual seat where I could overlook the night view of Shinjuku Subcenter right in front of me. Although it doesn't rotate, this seat was perfect for me to enjoy my meal. I started with the classic nigiri sushi, enjoying two pieces of Kanpachi and clam nigiri this time. The clam nigiri I tried this time had a unique crunchy texture as soon as I put it in my mouth. Next, I had the Teppanyaki corner's classic Teppanyaki Shabu, which this time featured a limited-time A4-ranked Iwate beef rib roast. I had the Iwate beef rib roast grilled on the teppan, topped with grated ponzu sauce, and enjoyed it with fresh vegetables. This is my way of eating Teppanyaki Shabu, inspired by the way of eating grilled meat with fresh vegetables, kimchi, and namul in Korea. In addition to the Iwate beef Teppanyaki Shabu, I also tried the Beef Stew with White Miso accent and the Lamb Roast with Mustard Sauce, but the Beef Stew with White Miso accent was not as sweet as I had expected. On the other hand, the Lamb Roast with Mustard Sauce combined the umami of lamb, the acidity and slight sweetness of the mustard sauce, and the umami of the German potatoes laid underneath to create the ultimate flavor. For my third plate, I had Kung Pao Chicken, Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, and Uwajima-produced Red Snapper Aquapazza, enjoying them with J-Series Eight-Grain Rice. The Kung Pao Chicken had a good quality taste with sliced pork belly, spring cabbage, garlic sprouts, and miso-flavored sauce. The Uwajima-produced Red Snapper Aquapazza was impressive with the umami of the red snapper and the seasonal bamboo shoots. The Steamed Shrimp Dumplings had a delightful sesame oil flavor. For my fourth plate, I had two slices of Margherita pizza, Stir-fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce, and Shrimp with Chili Sauce. The Margherita pizza was delicious as always, and the Stir-fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce had a good texture with sliced squid and bamboo shoots. For my fifth plate, I had white rice with grated ponzu sauce and fresh vegetables with Iwate beef Teppanyaki Shabu for the second time, along with Basque Cheesecake and Kugelhopf Vanilla. After that, I had two servings of cold Shirasu Mentaiko Udon and a second serving of Kung Pao Chicken. The cold Shirasu Mentaiko Udon had a superb flavor with a cold soup made with Fukuoka Mentaiko, Yamaguchi-produced Shirasu and bonito flavors, grated daikon, and thin udon noodles. It was an excellent dish that rivaled the chilled Inaniwa Udon with Akita beef in the summer of 2022. For dessert, I had Kugelhopf Vanilla and three servings of Vanilla Ice Cream, along with trying the Mandarin Orange Sorbet. The Mandarin Orange Sorbet had a refreshing taste with a different acidity and refreshing sensation compared to oranges, likely due to the use of mandarins from the Chugoku region.

I visited this hotel buffet for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend who is knowledgeable about buffets. I must say, it was one of the best buffet experiences I have had. The quality of each dish was high and I didn't find anything terrible (usually there's at least one dish that makes you go "what is this?!" haha). They had entertainment elements like steak, grilled shabu-shabu, sushi, tempura cooked right in front of you, and a great selection of super fancy cakes. The price is a bit high, but considering the quality, I think it's worth it. The view is also nice.
