Here's the 1000th post! We went to Pretty Pork Factory with our kids, craving some delicious food. Located in the bustling district of Kabukicho, I was a bit worried about bringing the children, but once inside, those concerns vanished. The place was spacious, clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly. After some deliberation, we settled on trying the samgyupsal first! It was a delightful experience, savoring the various characteristics of different pork brands. The kids loved it too, so it's definitely a winner. Not too greasy either, so we decided to add some shabu-shabu to our order. And wow, the shabu-shabu was a pleasant surprise! I've never had shabu-shabu with such rich flavor before. My wife prefers the samgyupsal, while I'm more of a shabu-shabu fan, so we'll have to be careful not to argue about it next time, haha. Thanks for the wonderful meal!

On the Friday that marked the end of the fiscal year at work, my spouse and I decided to treat ourselves to dinner to celebrate our hard work over the past year. We made a reservation at a restaurant that had been on our radar for a while, having heard from acquaintances that they serve delicious pork dishes. We started with two glasses of "Premium Malt (draft beer)" priced at 750 yen each, followed by a serving of "Draft Makgeolli" for 770 yen. For the main course, we opted for the "Premium Pork Shabu-Shabu Course" priced at 6,950 yen per person. The course included seasonal appetizers, shrimp with anchovy sauce, simmered pork belly (with a choice of garlic soy sauce or salt koji), pork dumplings (complimentary with a coupon), assorted vegetables, a choice of "rice cooked with ingredients" as a finishing touch, and dessert. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the shabu-shabu, featuring three different premium pork varieties: "Wamomeno Buta," known for its lightly sweet and flavorful fat; "Kintoki Buta," praised for its well-balanced ratio of lean meat to fat; and "Yagorou Kuro Buta," which offered a tender and juicy texture with a refreshing taste. Served in a fragrant dashi broth, each pork variety paired excellently with a variety of dipping sauces such as ponzu, sesame, and spicy miso, or simply with salt, allowing us to savor the rich flavors of the ingredients. The addition of condiments provided even more flavor options, enhancing the depth and breadth of the dining experience. From the appetizers to the dessert, every dish was delicious, and we left feeling completely satisfied with the generous portions and well-thought-out course structure. Although the journey from the nearest station, Shinjuku Station, to the restaurant was challenging amid the bustling crowds and dazzling neon lights, once inside, we found ourselves in a warm and inviting atmosphere filled with the smiles of satisfied diners. The hospitality of the staff further added to the pleasant experience, leaving us eager to visit again in the future. Overall, it was a delightful culinary experience, and we extend our thanks for the wonderful meal.

I visited with a reservation for lunch on Saturday. They offer a weekend-only lunch course for 3450 yen, featuring a different kind of samgyeopsal from the Korean version. The staff grill the meat for you. Instead of wrapping it in lettuce, you can eat it with purple cabbage or shiso leaves, but the meat is delicious enough on its own. I might prefer to eat the purple cabbage separately. Next time, I'll try the shabu-shabu.

It's a bit hard to find since it's located in Kabukicho. Initially, I felt uneasy because the entrance looked like it might have been a club or something. However, the interior was stylish. The staff cooked all the samgyeopsal for us, which was convenient. At the end, they brought extra servings of vegetables like perilla leaves, but I wish they had told us earlier that we could get refills. Also, if they were going to offer extras, I wish they had brought them out a bit sooner. They served tea as a free replacement for water, and it was nice that they gave us larger cups since I tend to get thirsty easily. They also refilled it relatively quickly when it ran out.

Visited based on high Tabelog ratings. Overall, as expected from the reviews, the ambience is noisy, and the cost performance is not great. A mini-course with regular drinks cost over 11,000 yen per person. If the cost stays within 7,000 yen, I might consider revisiting, but at this price point, location, and taste, I'm puzzled about why the ratings are good.

I made a review saying I didn't want to come again because the reservation visit reception at 19:30 was kind of awkward. However, they came back fairly quickly, and what I said was just random. But this time, the service was polite, the meat was delicious as always, and there were no complaints! I'm sorry!

First of all, the atmosphere of the building is quite sketchy. Being in Kabukicho, it's somewhat expected, but all the other shops in the building are hostess bars. There's a brothel across the street, and there are a few touts standing around. Once you're inside, you forget about all that, as the interior is neat and tidy. Well, not many people might actually use it, but there's an atmosphere that suggests it's definitely not a place for business entertainment. If you book through Tabelog, you'll be forced into selecting a private room about half the time, so be aware of that. Since the place is quite empty, regular seating should be sufficient if you don't need a private room. Be cautious as private rooms come with an extra charge. The pork shabu-shabu itself was delicious, but the lunch set doesn't come with things like noodles for finishing or even dessert, just plain rice. Given that, the prices seem quite high. There are surely more cost-effective options in Shinjuku. It's not great value for money and looks sketchy from the outside. If this place ranks first for Shinjuku lunches, well, there must be various adult reasons for that. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

On Friday night at 18:30, three colleagues from work decided to go out for a delicious meal in Shinjuku. The restaurant was located in the heart of Kabukicho, with a view of the bustling streets. Upon entering the second floor of the restaurant, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of jazz and a calm atmosphere. The interior was clean and well-maintained. As it was our first visit, we opted for a relatively affordable course, with the intention of adding more dishes if we found something particularly tasty. We ordered the "Tokyo Meat Shabu House Original" brand pork shabu-shabu, which came with a mini course priced at 5000 yen for 250g. The mini course included a simple seasonal appetizer, 250g or more of the brand pork shabu-shabu, half of a Tanba soba noodle, various vegetables and condiments. Additionally, we added a plate of shabu-shabu, menchi katsu, and fried dumplings. With three adults enjoying a moderate amount of drinks, the total bill came to around 30,000 yen. The pork was tender and had no unpleasant odor, making it very enjoyable to eat. We also added lettuce to wrap the meat, which added a nice crunch to the dish.

I enjoyed the light Samgyeopsal, but personally, I still felt a bit unsatisfied because I prefer to indulge in hearty portions of it. The unlimited greens were a delightful addition, and I appreciated the consideration for families with children.

I went to a restaurant near Shinjuku Station, about a 5-6 minute walk away, with a Foodie rating of 4.19, produced by "Tokyo Niku Shabu-ya," which specializes in shabu-shabu and Japanese-style samgyeopsal using branded pork. I visited during lunchtime. Here's what I ordered: Branded Pork Samgyeopsal Set: ¥3,450 This lunch set includes four types of branded pork, vegetables, and wraps such as purple cabbage and perilla leaves, along with rice. The pork, being branded Japanese pork, lacked any strong odor and had a refreshing fat content. It was quite light and easy to eat, almost too light for my taste personally. I prefer a bit more richness, enough to give me heartburn, with the fat spreading across my mouth along with some lettuce... haha. From the management of meat grilling to cutting, the service was attentive throughout, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and the dishes was elegant. If you're looking for something a bit different and craving delicious pork dishes, this place might be worth a try. Thank you for the meal!

Appointment at 18:00. It's been a year since my last visit, and I don't want to come back anymore. While I didn't feel this way last time, the attitude of the staff needs a rethink. Not everyone is bad, but there are areas that need improvement. The explanations of the dishes were too quiet to hear, and the way they mentioned sold-out drinks was pushy. I won't describe the characteristics of the staff because my reviews get deleted when I do, but if you have any idea, there you go. The meat was tasty, but I rate based on the overall experience including service and cleanliness, so I was disappointed.

When searching for a good lunch spot in Shinjuku, I came across this place! As a big fan of pork shabu-shabu, it was the obvious choice for me. Since I was bringing a comedian along, choosing the right restaurant was crucial. I didn't want to risk picking one of those Tokyo eateries that look great but serve awful, overpriced food. Despite being on the second floor of a mixed-use building in Shinjuku, once inside, seeing the accolades from various food guides put my mind at ease. Surprisingly, they opened for lunch at noon, offering a pork tasting menu exactly as shown in the photos. Each dish featured three different types of pork, along with pesticide-free vegetables. Everyone was satisfied with the attention to detail and the flavors. The only regret was not taking more photos!

Visited for lunch with a prior reservation. Ordered the samgyupsal lunch set this time. Usually, I associate samgyupsal with a single flavor profile, often enjoyed with different sauces for variety. However, here you can savor four types of pork individually, which was very satisfying. The service, where the staff explains and cooks the meat for you, adds to the overall satisfaction. From pork with a robust texture to those with a sweet fatness, and even the rare seaweed-marinated pork, each was enjoyable. They also offer a shabu-shabu course for lunch, so I'd recommend coming back. Just make sure to check the location beforehand and confirm who you're going with.

Reservation for Sunday lunch was easy, even a few days in advance through Tabelog. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm, with plenty of available seats. The staff kindly explained about the meat and seasonings, even helping with grilling. We ordered the Samgyupsal set for around 3800 yen, upgrading to the mixed option for an additional 1200 yen. The meat was delicious, but it leaned towards being fatty, which might be challenging for those not fond of heavy oiliness. I wished there were more vegetables included. They also offer a shabu-shabu lunch course, which I'd like to try next time. Although the restaurant had exceptionally high ratings on Tabelog, I felt it didn't quite live up to that score in reality.

Tokyo Meat Shabu-ya produces. Using carefully selected branded pork, they have created a unique restaurant after experimenting with various ideas such as adapting Korean samgyeopsal into a Japanese style, making shabu-shabu using branded pork, and imagining how tasty tonkatsu would be if fried. PRETTY PORK FACTORY, the result of their experimentation, does not accept reservations but offers Katsu Pripo's tonkatsu. Branded Pork Mini Course @ 5500 yen A four-course meal from appetizers to the finish. The mini course is recommended for those who want to eat more meat. Appetizer Assortment of 3 types Japanese-style Samgyeopsal (250g total) - Yonezawa Pork: Characterized by a mild sweetness and tender texture. - Kurao Pork Baumkuchen Konbu-shime: Well-balanced sweetness and umami with marbled texture. - Yagoro Pork Konbu-shime: Soft, juicy, and refreshing. - Wabuta Mochibuta: Melts in your mouth with rich flavor. - Jukusei Iwachu Pork: Light yet flavorful. - Kintoki Pork: Firm texture with a strong sweetness. Seasonal Vegetables Garlic, okra, eringi Finishing Dish Kamadaki Soboro Rice The minced meat blends wonderfully with the rice. The staff steams and bakes it in a Nanbu iron pot three times. There are various ways to enjoy, such as eating just the meat or wrapping it in shiso leaves and purple cabbage. I later learned that shiso leaves and purple cabbage are refillable. Condiments include red chili pepper salt, sesame oil/mountain pepper salt, homemade miso, and maple garlic. You can enjoy the flavor and richness of the pork even without condiments, but they also pair well together. With a wide variety of meat options, it's enjoyable to compare flavors. However, the four-person table feels cramped, and as appetizers keep coming, it feels like they're rushing the meal. The lack of ventilation ducts makes the smoke and oil splatter from the steaming process bothersome. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation for a celebration. The course allows you to enjoy both shabu-shabu and samgyeopsal, and the taste is top-notch, but the atmosphere and staff are a bit outdated. It kind of diminishes the luxury feel, but it might suit certain occasions. Also, they said bringing a birthday cake was okay for a surprise, so I brought one, but they asked in front of the person when to bring it out, haha, I wish they were a bit more considerate. But the staff were all very kind and quick to assist with everything. The meat was fresh, and the course, which allows unlimited refills of vegetables and includes appetizers, scored high. The dumplings from the coupon were delicious. I wish they were included in the course. As for the souvenir bento, I had it the next day, and it was excellent.

Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku, you'll find a corner filled with the enticing aroma of authentic Korean cuisine. Among them, one popular spot is "PRETTY PORK FACTORY." Here, skilled chefs grill Samgyupsal (pork belly) over charcoal with gusto. The taste is unforgettable once you've tried it. On this particular day, I ordered the "Samgyupsal Lunch (¥2980)" set, which offers Samgyupsal made from premium pork at a reasonable price. Fresh pork slices line the grill in front of me, and the cooking process begins. The chef adeptly grills the pork, filling the air with a delightful fragrance that heightens the anticipation. The richness of the pork fat is meticulously drawn out over the charcoal, creating a melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness with every bite. It's impossible to resist the juicy flavor that bursts with each chew. The accompanying fresh lettuce leaves, perilla leaves, and vegetables complement the Samgyupsal perfectly. When wrapped in crispy purple lettuce and perilla leaves, the refreshing taste of the vegetables harmonizes exquisitely, creating a superb flavor explosion in your mouth. "PRETTY PORK FACTORY" also boasts a calm atmosphere, making it highly recommended. Why not take a break from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku and indulge in a blissful time at this ultimate pork specialty restaurant?

The Tokyo Meat Shabu-Shabu restaurant series offers a variety of dishes including Shabu-Shabu, Samgyeopsal, and occasional Tonkatsu. Tokyo Meat Shabu-Shabu in East Shinjuku has a high rating of over 4 on Tabelog, while Pretty Pork, another popular spot, has a rating exceeding 3.8. Katsupuripor is a renowned meat Shabu-Shabu restaurant, focusing on beef, while Pretty Pork specializes in pork. The menu mainly features courses centered around Shabu-Shabu or Samgyeopsal, including appetizers. Every course includes a combination of appetizers, Shabu-Shabu, and a finishing appetizer platter. There's also a Mini Course option (starting from 5,500 yen) with only appetizers and mains. The meat options, 250g each, include branded pork and selected pork, with three choices: branded, selected, or a mix of both. In this visit, a mix of Diamond Pork, Japanese Mochi Pork, Ume-yama Pork, and Kinji Pork was chosen. The sauces consist of sesame sauce, ponzu (citrus-based sauce), and a spicy sauce. Not just sauces, but also salt condiments such as ginger, garlic, grated radish, and green onions are provided. For the finishing touch, you can choose either half-fried Somen noodles or Soboro rice. In this case, Soboro rice was chosen, offering a satisfying conclusion with a full serving. Beyond the delicious meat, the homemade sesame sauce and ponzu are flavorful for variety. The option to create a tantan (spicy) flavor sauce adds an interesting twist. The use of salt allows a simple way to savor the meat. They've recently introduced tonkatsu for dinner and Shabu-Shabu for lunch.

The appetizers were delicious!!! I couldn't believe it was Shinjuku?! That's how good the appetizers were! Highly recommend the tonkatsu and avocado bruschetta! Even though I'm not a fan of avocado, it was so tasty that I wanted another one. The meat was neither outstanding nor disappointing, just delicious!
