◇Richly Flavorful Boiled-down Ramen: ¥1,050◇ ◇Seasoned Egg: ¥300◇ Located a 3-minute walk from Nishi-Eifuku Station's north exit on the Keio Inokashira Line. Upon arrival around 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday, there were already 7 parties waiting ahead of us, with subsequent groups lining up in front of the bicycle parking area. We reached the front of the line in about 10 minutes due to the quick turnover. At that point, we were guided by the staff to purchase meal tickets, which we then handed over before returning to the front of the restaurant. Inside, there's only a counter and one table seat. The noodles were firm, and the soup, though rich, lacked any bitterness typical of boiled-down fish broth, a rarity to find outside of Kumamoto. It was exceptional. This last stop on our Tokyo expedition left us thoroughly satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Visit date: September 23, 2023 (Saturday) For today's lunch, I went to "Nishieifuku no Niboshi-bako," which opened on September 28, 2021, in a back alley near Nishi-Eifuku Station on the Inokashira Line! This is the third brand to open following "BonitoSoupNoodleRAIK" in Omiya, Suginami Ward, and "CLAM&BONITO Katsuobushi Noodles raik" in Hounancho! The restaurant is about to celebrate its second anniversary soon. On this special occasion, they are offering a special niboshi ramen called "Second Year Niboshi Ramen." When I went to the affiliated store "CLAM&BONITO Katsuobushi Noodles raik" last Sunday to try the limited edition "Flounder and Shrimp Shio Soba" introduced from this day, the owner of the Koriyama branch said to me, "Please come to the Niboshi-bako anniversary on September 23!" The manager of Nishieifuku's Niboshi-bako also said, "It's Saturday, September 23, a public holiday, so don't get confused." With such invitations, I couldn't resist going to eat there. So, first, I went to "Menya Morino" near Tsukada Station on the Tobu Urban Park Line, where they serve a rare "School of Fish Ramen" once a year. Since it coincided with the day they serve it, I thought I might skip it this year as I did last year, but after eating "Flounder and Shrimp Shio Soba" at "CLAM&BONITO Katsuobushi Noodles raik," I thought, why not give it a try? So I posted on X, "We'll be waiting for you in Nishi-Eifuku on Sunday—BonitoSoupNoodleRAIK (@BSN_RAIK) September 17, 2023 Saturday. It's Saturday, a public holiday on the 23rd, so don't get confused—Nishieifuku no Niboshi-bako (@westnibox) September 17, 2023." With such comments from the Koriyama branch owner and the manager of Nishieifuku's Niboshi-bako, I decided I had to go. I thought I would be fine since they had 130 servings, but if they ran out, I would have to choose a time to eat. So, instead of going at 8:30 a.m., I decided to go about an hour later. If there were still tickets left, I would eat at the specified time and give up "Morino." However, if they had finished distributing tickets, I would go to "Morino" as there would be a reason for it. That was my plan as I set out. When I arrived at the store at 9:27 a.m., I saw cute staff members handing out tickets and taking a 1,000 yen deposit from customers. This meant they hadn't sold out yet. The ticket I received in exchange for the deposit was number 57, with a gathering time of 13:40. As I walked towards the store, someone called out, "Ichiesan!" It was Tsuruzaki, the manager of "Menya Itto." I seem to run into him more often at ramen shops like this than at his own store. I asked him where he was going today, and he said he had just registered at Shibazaki-tei and would go to Kuroki after that, then come back here. He was saying it would be better to come after 2 p.m., but he's the type who diligently studies, so he never misses a day off to go hopping between ramen shops. "Shibazaki-tei" is a popular niboshi ramen limited edition! "Kuroki" has a limited edition of "Duck and Matsutake Salt Tsukemen"! He seems more like a limited edition enthusiast than a diligent studier, but he's also someone who makes delicious limited edition ramen. I'm looking forward to next Monday's "Duck Competition"!

I arrived at the restaurant at 7:45 AM to get a special ticket for the second anniversary celebration, which was scheduled to start being distributed at 8:30 AM. I was second in line. The distribution began earlier than planned, at 8:20 AM. We were told to gather again at 10:40 AM. I waited at a nearby library. Today's menu featured three dishes: the two mentioned in the title and a dish called "Kurin-don" made with Kurin pork. It was clear I couldn't eat all three, so I decided against the Kurin-don since the Kurin pork was also a topping on the ramen. The dish with dried sardine broth, noodles, and char siu pork was meticulously prepared, just as the attached instructions described. The oyster mixed with egg topping was also superb. It was a delightful meal.

The popular ramen shop, "Nishieifuku no Nibako," located in Nishieifuku, has been in business for just under two years and has already been selected as one of the top 100 ramen shops last year. It is conveniently situated about a 2-minute walk from the station. It's advisable to arrive a minute before opening, and even as the 7th person in line, I had to wait with a friend who was 6th in line. I got a seat on the first round, and the noodles were served about 15 minutes later. I ordered the Special Niboshi Ramen for ¥1300 and the seasoned egg for ¥300. The broth, made from dried sardines, is complex and intricate yet elegant. Since there's another option on the menu labeled "rich," I wonder if that one has a more intense flavor. The firm straight noodles pair well with the sardine broth, creating a classic combination. The chashu comes in three varieties: the regular seared chashu with a substantial thickness, a bacon-like smoked chashu, and a regular-sized one. Each is juicy and blends perfectly with the soup, providing a delightful experience without getting monotonous. I highly recommend trying the seasoned egg; it's worth ordering. As for the extra noodles, they are well-seasoned and seem like a complimentary service menu item. They were delicious even on their own. On September 23rd, they are offering a special menu to celebrate their 2nd anniversary, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store! **Restaurant Information:** - **Name:** Nishieifuku no Nibako - **Address:** 3-55-3 Eifuku, Suginami-ku, Tokyo - **Access:** 2 minutes walk from Nishieifuku Station - **Business Hours:** Weekdays 11:30-15:00 (L.O), 18:00-21:00 (L.O); Sundays 11:30-15:00 (L.O) - **Closed:** Mondays - **Payment:** Cash only (No credit cards, and vending machine does not accept large bills) - **Seating:** 8 seats, non-smoking - **Parking:** Not available - **SNS:** [Twitter](https://twitter.com/westnibox), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/westnibox?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) - **Hashtags:** #NishieifukuNoNibako #RamenTop100 #Top100Ramen #Top100Ramen2022 #EifukuchoGourmet #EifukuchoLunch #NishieifukuGourmet #NiboshiRamen #TokyoRamen

Located just a minute's walk from Nishi-Eifuku Station! The Nishi-Eifuku Niboshi Ramen shop is right there as soon as you walk. If you visit around 7:30 in the evening, you can enter smoothly. I had their special niboshi (dried fish) ramen with lotus root topping and a side of seasoned egg. The broth has a rich niboshi flavor but is easy to eat and goes down smoothly. It's undoubtedly delicious ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at 11:30, and the place was already quite busy, with all the seats taken. I bought a ticket and queued outside the shop. I was the first in line. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I was seated inside. I ordered a simple Chinese-style ramen. It arrived—a combination of dried fish soup and firm straight noodles, reminiscent of Hakata-style ramen. The bowl was modern and deep white. It was unusual to see lotus root as a topping. Overall, it was meticulously prepared, and the service was relaxed. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited around noon on a weekday. Despite being the 6th in line, I was seated in about 15 minutes. Special boiled dried fish ramen for 1300 yen. The soup packed a punch with dried fish flavor, and the noodles had a satisfying chewiness that paired well. The smoked pork shoulder in particular was delicious. Toppings of chopped onions and yuzu added a refreshing touch. The staff were very friendly, and the restaurant interior was exceptionally clean. It's a recommended ramen spot even for solo female diners.

The station proximity, upscale ambiance, and interior were all excellent. However, it didn't meet my personal preference for a strong dried fish flavor (subjective to individual taste). The noodles also felt a bit less compatible with the soup. The "Waedama" (mixed cold noodles for 300 yen) was unique and impactful, something not found in other places, which was great.

[Waiting Time and Order] - Visited around 11:30 on Sunday. Connected as the 5th person in line. Entered immediately as the previous customers left in a group, so there was no wait to enter. It took a little over 10 minutes until the dishes were served. - Ordered the Special Niboshi Ramen (1300 yen) and Wae-dama (300 yen). - Payment was made via food ticket system. *First, line up and connect, then purchase when at the front of the line. [Impressions] The niboshi (dried sardine) ramen was quite delicious. The first sip of the soup was fairly salty, but as I continued drinking, the richness of the niboshi flavor gradually emerged. From this point on, I couldn't stop drinking the soup. There was a slight bitterness in the latter half, but it wasn't unpleasant. I didn't notice any fishy taste at all, and I thought they had skillfully extracted the broth. The noodles were the classic type that goes well with niboshi soup, firm and satisfying. While not new, they were consistently tasty. There were four slices of chashu (braised pork). Three slices were of the hanging-smoked variety, and one was the charred belly. The hanging-smoked chashu was slightly tough, which was a bit disappointing. Usually, I'm a big fan of this type of chashu, but it didn't quite hit the mark this time. Instead, the belly chashu was exceptional. It was thick, with a firm texture, and perfectly balanced with fat. It's a type of chashu that's rare with niboshi ramen, but I loved it. Yuzu and onions also played important supporting roles, providing a refreshing touch. I usually save them until the end to enjoy with the remaining soup. It adds a nice flavor variation when you start to get tired of the soup. Definitely worth a try. The staff recommended the Wae-dama, and it was also excellent. It had a well-seasoned niboshi base, and it's delicious on its own. Since you can purchase it with cash afterward, I think it's worth ordering if you have room in your budget. The staff were very friendly, and overall, it was a great restaurant. Based on reviews, it doesn't seem to have long lines, so it might be a good spot to aim for. By the way, the way to line up was a bit confusing. There weren't specific instructions given, so I think just following the person in front should be fine.

On a scorching Saturday afternoon around 12 o'clock, after a brief two-minute stroll from Nishieifuku Station through the shopping district, I arrived at the shop. I was fortunate to be second in line outside, and soon found a seat at the counter inside where it was cool. I ordered the rich dried fish ramen and the cold noodles in a creamy sauce. The rich dried fish ramen had just the right amount of impact from the dried fish, and the presentation was as meticulous as the service from the staff. You could really feel their passion for ramen. The cold noodles were also delightful, with a satisfying firmness and a wonderful wheat flavor. I pretty much enjoyed them on their own. It was a feast.

On the second stop of the ramen tour from Takaido to Nishieifuku on the Inokashira Line, arrived at Nishieifuku at 13:34. Two people waiting outside. Ordered a limited item, "Chilled Niboshi (dried sardine) Green Onion Soba" for 1,330 yen and a bottled beer with snacks for 650 yen. While enjoying a Akahoshi beer, noticed a cup with the words "Sushi vs Ramen, I love both. Sushi & Ramen, Sushi and Ramen, which one do you like?" at 13:56, the bowl arrived. Appearance: Chilled Chinese noodles with niboshi soup on the side. The noodles were thin, and you mix them before eating. The taste was... huh? Struggled to eat it smoothly. Finally, dipped the noodles in the niboshi soup and finished the meal. Thank you for the meal. Should have gone for the rich niboshi option. Honestly, there's no praise for it. It was so bad. I don't mind the price if it's delicious, but at this price, it's outrageous for this level of badness. Still in business, so definitely try it out! It's my personal opinion that it was terrible, but among the chilled noodles I had in the summer of 2023, it was overwhelmingly the worst. Left the restaurant at 14:12. I finally got to try TKM, which I've been curious about for a while. Its incredible destructive power. There are originals and certified ones, but this TKM is the best I've ever had. It's unbelievably delicious. When mixed with soba, not only the soup but also menma and chashu are included at the bottom, and the citrus flavor adds a refreshing touch, further stimulating the appetite. I wonder if it will be next year already. I want to eat it again if I can see it this year.

Visited around 12:30 on a weekday. Ordered the Shio Ramen for 1050 yen and the Tsukemen for 300 yen extra, and they arrived within about 5 minutes. First, the Shio Ramen: the broth had a robust flavor of dried sardines, and the thin noodles paired perfectly, making it easy to slurp up. The addition of diced onions added a nice touch, and the small amount of yuzu was delightful. Then, just as I was finishing the ramen, the Tsukemen arrived. It had a subtle dried sardine flavor on its own, allowing the deliciousness of the noodles to shine through. Whether dipping it into the soup or trying various condiments on the table, like dried sardine vinegar, I didn't get tired of the flavors. Overall, it was a satisfying meal in terms of both quality and quantity.

This classic "Shiogama" ramen hits the spot with its carefully crafted soup that gently spreads the delicious flavor of dried sardines without any overpowering taste. The thin, crunchy noodles perfectly complement the broth. Even the seasoned egg is traditional, making it the epitome of a classic "Shiogama" ramen.

Visited after 12:00 on a weekday, no waiting! This time, went for the rich speciality "boiled down sardine" with added mushroom mixed rice! Totally different from the regular sardine last time, this one had quite a potage-like flavor. But, it's rich without being heavy! There's a punchy green smell, yet not overpowering! Still, it's undeniably rich in sardine flavor! So delicious~ This is amazing! Even women would find it easy to eat! The chashu (roast pork) has a delightful aroma and tastes great! Just like last time, the subtle 1mm yuzu peel is just right! The noodles are thin and firm! Chashu is also in the mushroom mixed rice! The staff are incredibly friendly, making this sardine ramen shop highly recommended, especially for women!

Located approximately 70 meters, just a minute's walk from Nishi-Eifuku Station on the Keio Inokashira Line, is Niboshi-Bako Keio. From the station, head towards Inokashira-dori along Nishi-Eifuku Shotengai. Take the first narrow alley on the right to find the shop. There are also coin parking lots nearby. Arrived at 7:30 PM on Friday. No wait outside. Only one customer ahead. The exterior of the shop is simple with a wooden theme, and entry is through wooden lattice doors. Purchased "Special Niboshi Ramen" for ¥1,300 from the ticket machine. Politely directed to the counter seats. Provided with a glass of water with a request for self-service. Submitted the food ticket after being kindly addressed. Seated at the counter guided by the staff. There were two staff members working that evening. The interior had a clean and simple design with joint lighting. The seating included five counter seats and a table for two. Behind the counter were a table for two, a commercial refrigerator, and stacked boxes of dried small sardines. The place quickly filled up with customers while waiting. Realized I entered just when a seat became available temporarily. Reviewed the explanation sheet while waiting. Niboshi Ramen: A soup made from a base of six types of dried small sardines (Katakuchi Iwashi, Shirakuchi Niboshi, Ago, Aji, Urume, and Ibuki Irko), extracting the umami flavor. Ordered the Niboshi Ramen for the first time. Also, there was an explanation about "Wae-Dama." Soon, the "Special Niboshi Ramen" arrived. The staff placed it on the counter, saying it was hot. The ramen featured a soup with umami from six types of dried small sardines and straight noodles. Additionally, it included seasoned boiled eggs, two lotus root slices, chopped onions, chopped green onions, and a little yuzu peel. The special chashu included three types: one pork belly slice and two (slightly rare) pork loin slices. Couldn't quite identify the smaller one on the right. (Was it something else?) Finished every last bit, wiped the table, and placed the bowl on the tray. The staff thanked for the consideration upon departure and also reminded to take care in the heat. Was deeply impressed by the attentive service. It was a delightful meal. While strolling through Nishi-Eifuku Shotengai, it seemed to be a summer festival that day. Smiling children were running around while their parents watched over them kindly. Feeling content with the lingering taste of niboshi and the heartwarming atmosphere of the town, I headed home happily. That's all.

What we have here is a special simmered dried fish ramen with a rich dried fish soup. The regular dried fish soup has a thin, smooth texture. It intensely concentrates the flavor and aroma of the fish, yet remains delicate with a hint of bitterness. On the other hand, the rich dried fish soup has a thick, gooey texture. It not only captures the essence of the fish but also incorporates the savory richness of animal ingredients, making it slightly milder. Despite being rich, it feels surprisingly easy to consume due to its concentrated nature. Both soups are top-notch, so it truly depends on personal preference. The noodles are extremely thin, offering a satisfying chewiness with each bite. They complement the soup perfectly, ensuring a consistently enjoyable experience. Overall, there's no doubt that this ramen is of high quality and incredibly delicious.

Today, I just had to have the ramen here, so I went to Nishieifuku. The rich, savory soup made from simmered dried sardines paired with perfectly chewy thin noodles is exquisite. Plus, they offer an option called "wae-men" which is basically a refill of noodles, and it's so good that it could be a standalone dish itself. Ordering it feels like a guilty pleasure, even though the ramen alone would suffice. As a token attempt to offset the indulgence, I did a 1.5km non-stop swim at Takaido Pool. Of course, that doesn't entirely make up for it, but... Who can resist committing such a "sin" when faced with ramen on a whole other level?

On a weekday at 12:30, no waiting. Got served promptly. Toppings were served separately. Something unique was the eggplant sauce. The soup, unlike other places using sudachi, was of course made with dried bonito. The mandarin orange, unlike the tanginess of sudachi, was more subtly tangy (lol) but still complemented the dried bonito and mandarin orange without any discomfort. Thank you for the meal.
