If there has been anyone who has been following this blog for a long time, you may know that I love seafood. I especially love sea urchin, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, whelk, salmon roe... the list goes on. I had been waiting for the right timing to enjoy some casual fried oysters, and I found it at the conveyor belt sushi restaurant "Hamazushi Asahikawa Asahimachi Store". Located at 2-4 Asahimachi, Asahikawa City, you can find the map here: https://goo.gl/maps/sgFrmr1NM9JzUbBf9. Open from 11:00 to 23:00, closed on certain days. Parking available, with a drive-thru option as well. [For current opening hours, closures, takeout options, please contact the store directly]. It's a place I pass by often in my daily life, and I always see the signboard for the fried oyster bowl. I have visited the restaurant a few times before. However, it was my first time trying out the drive-thru service. On this day, after my child's elementary school sports day, it was lunchtime, and there were a lot of customers. The spacious parking lot was full of cars. I placed my order, and was told it would take about 10 minutes. I moved to the drive-thru customer parking space to wait. The staff brought the fried oyster bowl to me almost right on time, priced at 580 yen including tax. You can choose to have it with sauce or without, and I chose with sauce. It came with a lot of pickled ginger. The bowl is slightly smaller than the katsu-don at Seicomart. Tartar sauce is also included. On the cabbage side, there is no dressing, but a separate bag of sweet sauce is provided. For 580 yen, this portion is quite sufficient. The oysters are small in size. They are crisper than the fried oysters you find in the supermarket's deli section, probably because they are freshly fried. Overall, it's good value for the price, and being able to enjoy it easily through the drive-thru makes it a "yes" for me. However, the rice is vinegared rice, which is a bit different. I personally prefer regular white rice. [Tabelog]
