I visited a chestnut specialty store that opened along Yanaginza Street in Yanaka 12 years ago in August 2011. As of May 2023, there are now 23 stores after a new one was added and another closed. Three days ago on August 26th, I made a reservation for Mont Blanc Mille-feuille and visited for the 4th time in 2 weeks. The interior of the store has a calm atmosphere with dark brown wooden accents. There are 12 seats in total, with waiting chairs on the right, 2 tables with 3 seats each on the right back side, and a tatami room with 6 seats on the left back side. Although I arrived just 5 minutes before opening time at 10:55 am, there was no queue and I was promptly seated. The place became full shortly after. The customer base consists of 70% women and 30% men. The service is provided by one male and one female staff who are polite and attentive. The menu includes special items like Mont Blanc Mille-feuille set, carefully selected stem roasted green tea set, stem roasted green tea latte set (unsweetened), Japanese black tea latte set (unsweetened), and "Yama" junmai sake set. There are also limited quantity items like summer Mont Blanc "ripe peach" and Mont Blanc parfait "Japanese", as well as seasonal items such as Mont Blanc ice cream & melon sherbet and summer Mont Blanc "melon" sherbet made from 100% fruit pulp. The grand menu features items like Mont Blanc parfait "Western" and Mont Blanc dessert. All items come with carefully selected stem roasted green tea. The Mont Blanc Mille-feuille is a menu item that requires a reservation in advance outside the busy period of autumn (when tickets are distributed), and I requested a reservation for it three days prior on August 26th, which was confirmed for pickup on August 28th. However, I received a call from the store on August 27th, requesting to reschedule to August 29th due to store reasons, to which I agreed. When I visited on August 29th, I was informed that the drinks were free of charge. Since the drink was complimentary, I ordered Mont Blanc Mille-feuille Japanese black tea latte set (unsweetened) for 2,700 yen, with the Japanese black tea latte cost waived (-500 yen), resulting in a total of 2,200 yen. The Mont Blanc Mille-feuille was served 18 minutes after ordering. It consisted of a black round plate with custard made from free-range eggs, carefully selected chestnut Mont Blanc, two types of Mont Blanc with astringent skin, caramelized banana with chestnut honey, and homemade Mont Blanc ice cream. The custard is freshly squeezed and decorated with homemade chocolate before being served with a homemade "pie" made from organic wheat flour and Hokkaido fresh butter folded in and baked on the same day. The Mont Blanc made from carefully selected ingredients was delicious. The complimentary drink was Japanese black tea latte, which was also delicious. The interior of the store has a calm atmosphere with dark brown wooden accents. There was no queue or crowd 5 minutes before opening. Payment via PayPay was available. The Mont Blanc Mille-feuille is a menu item that requires a reservation in advance outside the busy period of autumn (when tickets are distributed), but the Mont Blanc made from carefully selected ingredients is very delicious.

After visiting the graves during the autumn equinox, I happened to stop by here on a weekday without having to wait in line. I decided on my order by looking at the menu posted outside before entering, and settled on a simple Mont Blanc dessert with hojicha tea set. The interior has a traditional Japanese aesthetic. All the customers, besides us, were women. After waiting for about 5 minutes, a mountainous Mont Blanc was served. Inside, there was chestnut paste, tangy meringue, and cream. It was too soft to take a good picture. Anyway, it's all about the chestnut. The taste of autumn. Although the price was a bit high, I wanted to try this sweet treat at least once and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. ⭐⭐

I finally visited a shop I've wanted to go to for a long time. They offer sweets that are made with a focus on high-quality ingredients! I tried their Premium Mont Blanc and Hitomaru Special Green Tea Set for 2400 yen. The sweetness was just right, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural taste of chestnuts! It was incredibly delicious. While it may be a bit pricey, I believe it is definitely worth trying at least once!

Today I visited a shop where you can enjoy sweets made with chestnuts, famous for Mont Blanc. Located within the Yanaka shopping street, it may be a bit hard to notice. Before 2 PM on a weekday, there were a few customers inside the shop. As the Mont Blanc was a bit over my budget, I opted for the soft serve ice cream. Just so you know, for the soft serve ice cream, you cannot eat in (you can use the bench in front of the shop). - Plain Japanese Chestnut Soft Serve 650 yen/tax included Made with Japanese chestnut paste from Iwama region in Kasama City, Ibaraki prefecture, and fresh milk from Kominami City in Ibaraki prefecture, using only pure ingredients with no additives, this soft serve ice cream lets you savor the authentic taste of the carefully selected ingredients. You can feel the dedication to quality from the first bite. The rich flavor of chestnuts spreads softly in your mouth, almost like eating a Mont Blanc. It is quite rich and of a different quality from the typical "chestnut-flavored soft serve ice cream". This is really delicious, especially recommended for chestnut lovers. Well, those who really love chestnuts probably would go for the Mont Blanc... haha. Thank you for the meal! Perfect for eating 'on-the-go'! I will visit again if I have the chance. * Visit rating at the time → Rating 3.81

Located in Ginza, Tokyo, this specialty store has been in business since 2011, offering various chestnut desserts. They also have their own chestnut farm in Ibaraki Prefecture where they grow chestnuts using natural farming methods. Order: Mont Blanc parfait (western style) with selected roasted stem tea set - 1700 yen. I ordered the western-style Mont Blanc parfait, which had a rich chestnut flavor. The unique astringency of the chestnuts was evident. It was enjoyable to taste the complex sweetness of various chestnut sweets. The western parfait is made with low-temperature pasteurized pure cream, selected chestnut Mont Blanc, chestnut skin Mont Blanc, free-range egg meringue, additive-free chestnut soft serve, artisan chestnut sweet, fully ripe banana, homemade chestnut syrup, and agar. Note: The traditional Japanese parfait had chestnut flakes and looked delicious. I might try that next time.

The chestnut flavor is rich. The Mont Blanc cream is delicate and can easily be unraveled. The meringue inside adds a nice crunch. It has a gentle sweetness but feels heavy due to its richness. Goes well with hojicha tea. On the middle day of the holiday, waited outside for about 30 minutes as there were two groups ahead.

I ate the Mont Blanc here 4 years ago and I can't forget the taste, so I make sure to eat it at least once a year. The rich taste of Japanese chestnuts and the natural flavor and sweetness of chestnuts are maximized, unlike other Mont Blancs. The meringue inside is crispy and light, which I surprisingly also love. I thought it might be crowded on a weekday afternoon, but I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get in smoothly. It seems like they no longer distribute numbered tickets, so I recommend going at the right time to eat!

I went to Kazuraya again during this season where you can enjoy the special chestnuts. The candied chestnuts made from freshly harvested chestnuts were amazing, with a direct sweetness of the chestnuts that you can taste. The aroma and texture of the chestnuts that come out as you eat them make it irresistibly delicious. I wanted to take a picture of the cross-section but it was too delicate and crumbled easily, so I gave up. The Mont Blanc parfait I tried for the first time was also delicious as always. When you eat the banana x Mont Blanc, you can feel the taste of chestnuts. I know I keep saying it, but for first-time visitors, please just order the Mont Blanc. I love chestnuts. It's a bit of a hassle, but in the autumn, I sometimes use a chestnut steamer at home to steam and eat them. I received some sweets from an acquaintance before, but this was my first time visiting the shop. I ordered the Mont Blanc parfait (Western style) and the specially-selected stem hojicha tea set. The Mont Blanc parfait was light and fluffy with a good melt-in-your-mouth texture. The emphasis was on a airy texture and the chestnut flavor was gentle. I finished it in no time, thank you for the delicious meal!

Shared a Mont Blanc parfait and Mont Blanc dessert for two. Chose green tea and roasted green tea for our teas. Pricey but worth it. Oh man, it was delicious. If you want to really taste the chestnut, the dessert is a must-try! The parfait is a mix of soft serve, bananas, and other flavors, where the chestnut taste takes a bit of a back seat. Personally, I thought the roasted green tea was a perfect match. We were torn between here and Himitsudo's shaved ice, but considering the long line with reservation tickets, this was definitely the right choice. We were lucky to get in just before 11 AM. After that, people had to wait about 30 minutes. Close call! Definitely recommend this place to friends visiting from out of town. In the restroom, instead of air freshener, they had tea leaves which created a refreshing aroma. A hidden delightful touch.

Reservation required. The perfect harmony of crispy pie, freshly squeezed chestnuts, and additive-free chestnut ice cream makes you want to sing "Harmony, piled up!" The specially made candied chestnuts are made with small, new chestnuts that have just started dropping, so they are still small in size and delicious. What a treat it was! I will definitely try to get a ticket for the second half of September!

I visited my favorite restaurant after a long time and quickly tried their new dessert, Mont Blanc Millefeuille. It consists of a crispy pie, caramelized sweet banana, Mont Blanc ice cream, homemade chocolate sauce, and a generous amount of chestnut paste. The richness of the chestnut paste is outstanding and unbelievably delicious. However, this dessert is more suited for those who have already enjoyed the standard chestnut flavors. I recommend trying their Mont Blanc dessert first to truly appreciate the difference in quality. Mont Blanc Millefeuille costs ¥2,500. #Waguriya #MontBlancMillefeuille #NipporiGourmet #NipporiCafe #SendagiGourmet #SendagiCafe #YanakaGinza #YanakaGinzaGourmet #ChestnutSweets #ChestnutSeason #AutumnFlavors #TokyoSweets #SweetsTop100Shops #Top100Shops #JapaneseSweets #TokyoFoodie

Whenever you stroll through Yanaka, there is always a line at this store called Kazuriya, which has been selected as one of the top 100 stores for quite some time now. I had heard from my daughter about the richness of the chestnut flavor, so I wanted to visit this store. When I passed by, there were three people waiting in line so I joined them. The waiting time was about 20 minutes, during which they explained the menu and took our order, and also served us some cold barley tea. I ordered the Mont Blanc parfait with hojicha. The interior of the store was smaller than I had expected. After a while, the freshly made parfait arrived, and upon taking a bite, I was truly impressed. The taste was so delightful that I completely forgot about the waiting time. It had a natural chestnut flavor, not overly sweet but incredibly delicious. Various ingredients were incorporated, not just squeezed chestnuts, and they all enhanced the deliciousness of the chestnut flavor. Although it may look modest, this Mont Blanc parfait was on a level that I had never experienced before. It was quite lucky to be able to get in with such a short wait on a busy holiday. I would love to visit again if I have the opportunity! Thank you for the wonderful meal! ✨✨♬

In mid-September, I gathered my chestnut-loving friends and visited the restaurant, which usually operates on a membership system but the main branch offers a la carte ordering where you can also enjoy seasonal fruit parfaits. Our main goal this time was to try the limited-edition Mont Blanc Mille-feuille (Hoji tea set) for 2,500 yen, which requires advance reservation. Besides ordering the Mont Blanc Mille-feuille, my friends also enjoyed Mont Blanc dessert and parfaits. We even had a foreign friend with us, adding a global touch to our tea party with some English conversation. The highlight of the visit was the Mont Blanc Mille-feuille, with cute chestnut-shaped pie pieces and a unique eating experience, typical of a Mille-feuille. All the menu items were carefully selected with no unnecessary additives, highlighting the special dedication to quality ingredients and freshly made offerings. It is truly a one-of-a-kind chestnut specialty restaurant and my favorite place to dine! I would love to visit again if given the chance. Thank you as always for the wonderful meal!

I tried to eat shaved ice in Nippori, but the line was too long so I ended up going to a nearby shop. Since I was already there, I decided to order a menu that looked Instagram-worthy. It looked so delicious, but when I took a bite, it turned out to be chestnut flavor. It's a treat for chestnut lovers. Lastly, they added carbonated water to make melon soda. It's only melon soda once the melon has melted, otherwise, it's just carbonated water. I hope to get a real melon soda next time and redeem my experience.

From Negishi Station, you can walk to Negishi Shopping Street and also walk from Nippori. I went during a hot summer evening when the sun was intense. They use chestnuts from Kasama City in Ibaraki, known as the number one chestnut village in Japan. I love Kasama City and visited twice last year. They have a roadside station in Kasama where you can buy fresh Japanese chestnuts. I bought several bags because I love them so much. The chestnuts from Kasama are truly amazing. I bought a sweet made of just chestnuts and sugar called "Kurikun" for ¥750. It comes in a vacuum pack and is flat. The taste was OK, but not exceptional. In Kasama, I have tried many chestnut sweets and they were delicious. I had high expectations due to the price, but it was just average. It can be quite a task processing chestnuts, so I understand the high price. The sweet I bought was equivalent to a little over one chestnut. They use sugar instead of traditional Japanese sugar (wasanbon), which makes it expensive. The sweets in the store are also quite pricey. After purchasing, you wait outside and they bring it to you. It was a dangerously hot day with the intense setting sun, but everyone was waiting in line. The Japanese chestnut season is about to start. I saw on the news that due to the extreme heat this year, the chestnuts are falling late. Looking forward to it! Kasama's Japanese chestnuts are a real treat!

I had a hamburger, took a short walk, and it's still too early to go to Saucen. Oh, I'm a little interested in going to Yanaka Ginza. It's just one station away from Uguisudani to Nippori, so it's convenient. There are several temples, and the atmosphere is quite nice. There are many dessert shops too. The shaved ice shop had about 30 people waiting in line. No way I can wait that long, so I went to "Waguri" instead! There was a line here too, but I got in after about 30 minutes. The exterior and interior are full of chestnuts, very cute. I didn't know that Kasama City in Ibaraki Prefecture is famous for chestnuts. Today I ordered the standard "Mont Blanc Parfait Western" with matcha set. It arrived in about 5 minutes! It looks beautiful. Let's dig in. Wow, the rich taste of chestnuts comes directly. This is the essence of chestnuts! Not too sweet, elegant taste. The cream is delicious, and there are bananas and agar at the bottom, which enhance the flavor. This is the first parfait where I can truly taste chestnuts! The matcha is delicious too. The cat is cute, I want a cat-shaped dessert too! Thank you for the meal. Ψ( 'ч' ☆)

It was hot outside and I was a little tired, so I decided to take a break at this restaurant. I was a bit surprised that I had to order a parfait set menu as I was just planning on a short break, but it was actually quite delicious (even though it was a bit pricey). The chestnut in the parfait was way more flavorful than I imagined, very rich! I usually don't like the jelly and agar at the bottom of parfaits, but even that part was tasty.

This is a shop run by an owner who loves chestnuts. I visited to try their new menu, which requires a reservation! I arrived 25 minutes before the opening on a holiday and was the first in line. ▶︎Mont Blanc Millefeuille The new menu I was looking forward to. It's reservation-only because the pie is prepared the day before! The composition includes pie, banana, Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc, astringent skin Mont Blanc, custard, Mont Blanc ice cream, and raw chocolate. The texture and taste are very delicious! The pie is crispy, with a subtle butter flavor that doesn't interfere with the chestnut taste. The balance between the two types of Mont Blanc paste, Japanese chestnut and astringent skin, is perfect with sweetness and bitterness, and the banana adds a nice accent! The raw chocolate has a flaky texture and is light. After eating half, I added an extra Mont Blanc layer for an additional 300 yen. It's a happiness that can be bought for just 300 yen, and it's a must-addition! I also tried my friend's Mont Blanc parfait, and it was reliably delicious. From spring 23 years, the menu has been completely renewed, and options for extra Mont Blanc and soft serve are available. It's very convenient to be able to add a little extra when you feel like something is missing. I personally prefer ice cream over soft serve because you can taste the simple sweetness of the Japanese chestnut more strongly. I really want to add extra ice cream! Recommended for chestnut lovers and non-chestnut lovers alike! Menu/items I had on this day/favorites: - Mont Blanc Millefeuille - 2,500 yen - Mont Blanc Parfait Western - 1,700 yen 【Tabelog】Rating 3.80 【Business Hours】11:00-17:30 (last order) 【Regular Holiday】Monday 【Prior Reservation】Millefeuille is a must 【Budget】From 1,600 yen 【Address】3-9-14 Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo Thank you for reading until the end. In the Ginza district of Tanaka, there is a famous shop known for its Mont Blanc desserts. On this day, I ordered the Mont Blanc parfait with premium roasted green tea. The parfait had meringue, banana, agar jelly, and other assorted items as listed on the menu, all blending perfectly to create an exquisite dish. The sweetness of the Japanese chestnut soft serve and banana stood out, creating a truly blissful experience. I would definitely love to try it again.

On Wednesday morning around 11:20, when I passed through Yanaka Ginza, there was no one in front of this shop. Since it was full inside, I decided to order a simple soft serve ice cream for takeout for 650 yen. I ate it while walking, and the cold treat in the scorching heat was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again!
