I revisited Tsubameken at Kitaura-kawa and enjoyed their pork bone ramen after a long time. It reminded me of my favorite dish at this restaurant. My colleague, who also loves pork bone ramen, expressed interest in trying it, so we decided to use the restaurant as an izakaya on Friday after work. We arrived at the restaurant around 6 pm and were seated at a table by the window. It had been about 3 and a half years since my last visit, but the interior remained mostly the same, bringing back memories of when I used to enjoy Hakata ramen at the counter in my 30s when I worked in Marunouchi. Setting that aside, we started with drinks – my colleague ordered a draft beer set (with seared chashu and salad: 710 yen) and I had a ginger ale (350 yen) to cheers. For food, we decided on pork belly skewers with yuzu pepper (280 yen each), homemade grilled dumplings (8 pieces: 620 yen), homemade potato salad (480 yen), and crispy cheese (360 yen with an additional 120 yen for one more). The pork belly skewers with yuzu pepper came out first, and the rich sweet and savory sauce paired well with the fatty pork belly. Adding yuzu pepper made it even more delicious. The homemade grilled dumplings were beautifully browned and tasted juicy and flavorful. The homemade potato salad was generous with ham and carrots, providing a satisfying volume. The texture of the main potato was also excellent, and it was definitely a good choice to order. The crispy cheese, originally served with 3 pieces, was so tasty that we added one more piece and it disappeared quickly, especially for cheese lovers. For the finale, we had the Hakata ramen (850 yen) with pickled ginger on the side. The soup had a mild flavor, and the thin flat noodles and crunchy special bamboo shoots were just as delicious as before. Since we stayed for about 2 hours, the bill came out to around 3500 yen per person. I would definitely consider using this restaurant as an izakaya again if the opportunity arises.

I visited around 12:40 on Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was not crowded, and I was quickly seated at the counter. I ordered the Char Siu rice bowl set from the lunch menu. It was like an easy-to-eat ramen with tonkotsu soy sauce flavor.

Arrived at 14:10 on September 22, 2023 (Friday) with no wait. Donburi arrived at 14:13. The initial rating upon entering was 3.61. I ordered the Hakata Ramen for 900 yen. I chose firm noodles, extra firm texture for the noodles, and extra firm texture for the noodles in the extra serving. The noodles had a square shape, which I had never seen before, but they were delicious. The soup was different from the Nagahama style, with a stronger flavor. I could also taste a hint of animal scent, which I personally enjoy in tonkotsu ramen. The extra serving was a bit pricey at 200 yen, and I felt like the soup portion was a bit small, but it was very delicious.

I visited around 1:30 pm on a weekday, so it was empty. I ordered the Chashu Ankake Rice with Mini Ramen Set for 1160 yen. The ramen was really mini, served in a tea cup size bowl. You can choose between thin noodles and extra thin noodles. The robotic explanation by the staff was surprising. It felt a bit lazy of them. Also, they didn't offer the lunch menu even though I visited during lunchtime. The taste was decently good.

I arrived at the restaurant around 3 o'clock and there was no wait, so I went straight in. I ordered the Iwanori Ramen (1130 yen) and homemade boiled dumplings (320 yen). The noodles were cooked just right and had a good texture, but the flavor started to feel a little overwhelming towards the end. I didn't get an extra serving of noodles and finished my meal. Visited before 12:00 on the weekend. It was still empty. The Hakata ramen for 900 yen seems like a Marunouchi price. The soup is more like pork bone soy sauce rather than just tonkotsu. I ordered the noodles to be normal firmness, but they felt a bit softer compared to other tonkotsu ramen shops. There are plenty of delicious tonkotsu ramen places in Tokyo, so I don't think it's worth going out of your way to eat at this shop. Thank you for the meal.

Located inside Marunouchi Building, this popular Hakata ramen shop always has a line during lunchtime. I ordered the ramen set (with mentaiko rice) for 1350 yen. The set includes Hakata ramen, homemade water dumplings, mentaiko rice, and almond jelly. Even though Hakata ramen is considered relatively affordable, due to its location and the variety of items in the set, the price is on the higher side. The Hakata ramen has a mild flavor with a less oily broth and thin noodles. The water dumplings are juicy and have a chewy texture. As for the mentaiko rice, it had a good level of spiciness but I wished there was a bit more of it.

I visited around 4:00 PM. It was empty with only two people there. I ordered the white rice set. In addition to ramen, it came with water dumplings and almond tofu. It had been a while since I had Hakata ramen, but there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it. It's convenient that they offer lunch sets until 5:00 PM.

I was impressed when I first came here, and coming back again without a long break, I am still impressed. This is currently my favorite tonkotsu ramen shop. Today, I ordered the Harigane with thin noodles. Last time, the firmness of the noodles felt a bit soft, so the medium firmness should be good. The staff is also very friendly, I really love this place.

I enjoyed the taste of the original popular ramen shop from Hakata in Tokyo's Marunouchi Building. Whenever I visit the underground area of Tokyo Station, I always seem to get lost. But the only reason I occasionally venture there is to explore ramen shops. From the ramen street on the Yaesu side to the ramen alley in Marunouchi, there are various names attached to these places. Today, my destination was "Hakata Menbo Akano Ren," which is not part of the typical ramen complex in this area. Located on the 6th floor of Marunouchi Building, the restaurant has a capacity of 45 seats with a counter and table seating. The atmosphere feels more like an izakaya than a ramen shop, which is reflected in their menu offerings. In addition to a variety of ramen options like seaweed, wakame, zasai noodles, and spicy miso, they also have set meals, appetizers, and a good selection of alcoholic beverages. This place is perfect for both ramen enthusiasts and izakaya-goers. This time, I opted for a simple bowl of ramen during lunchtime. The bowl arrived with a pleasant pork bone aroma. The simplicity of the toppings – chashu, menma, and green onions – was appealing. While Hakata ramen is known for being light, this authentic pork bone ramen was rich and flavorful, as expected. The thin straight noodles had a satisfying chewiness. This is what you expect from a good pork bone ramen. The slight soy sauce flavor added to the broth was unique. I ordered Hakata ramen (900 yen) and 2 skewers of pork belly (560 yen). The portions were generous, contrary to what I expected from the menu photos. The pork belly skewers were flavorful and even someone who doesn't like fatty pork could enjoy them. I chose the Hakata ramen with thin noodles (firm). The soup was rich and I finished it all. There are many menu options, so I definitely want to come back!

I came here seeking delicious tonkotsu ramen after researching online, and it did not disappoint. The tonkotsu shoyu-like soup had a sticky texture with a pleasant aroma, and it was rich without being too heavy. The chashu was also to my liking. I ordered the noodles firm, but they were softer compared to other places, so ordering them a level or two up might be better. It would be even better if there were spicy pickled mustard greens on the table, which I believe was on the menu. There are four set options, including ramen with rice, water dumplings, and dessert with milk pudding. It's a great deal. The dessert spoon is cute and shaped like a shovel. Located on the 6th floor of the Marunouchi Building, towering like Fudomyoo in front of Tokyo Station, is this restaurant corner. I used to frequent the main store here during the bubble period over 30 years ago, such as Nishi-Azabu Honten, Roppongi Tenho, and Nishi-Azabu Kaotan Ramen. While I still occasionally visit Tenho and Kaotan, I don't remember the taste of Hakata ramen like Akano Ren from back then, as places like Fukuchan in Shibuya Center-gai and Nandenkanden on the Kanjo Loop left a stronger impression. I visited around 1:30 pm on a weekday and it was not crowded. The mild and rich tonkotsu soup with firm noodles was easy to eat. There was no unpleasant smell, so I don't think I would inconvenience those around me during afternoon work. The table had plenty of ground sesame and pickled ginger. The mentaiko rice, water dumplings with vinegar miso-based sauce, and almond jelly dessert were all light and easy to eat. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to tonkotsu ramen in Marunouchi, this is the place. On weekdays, after 12 o'clock, there is always a line at this popular shop. The mentaiko rice set is also delicious, and the set meals are always good. It's a ramen shop where salarymen working in Marunouchi flock to, and when there aren't enough seats, you might end up sharing a table with someone, leading to chance encounters.

On this day, I was invited to an exhibition at the Artizon Museum (formerly the Bridgestone Museum) in Kyobashi. After viewing the exhibition, I tried to go to a specific restaurant, but everywhere was full due to the weekend rush. Eventually, I ended up in Marunouchi, oh Tokyo life... I knew that the Hakata Ramen Restaurant "Akano Ren" in Nishi-Azabu had opened a branch in Marunouchi, but I hadn't had the chance to visit until now. The atmosphere and clientele were different from Nishi-Azabu, but the menu and taste were similar (I think, it's been a while since I last went). The location on the 6th floor of Marunouchi Building... it would be amusing if the "distinguished" locals in the neighborhood could enjoy a private party after closing and then have a "drinking and chatting" session like us... such an unlikely situation briefly crossed my mind as we clinked glasses and chatted, and before I knew it, it was time for last orders... There were about 6 male staff members. ■ Other I had a sudden craving for Hakata and tonkotsu ramen, so I searched for "delicious Hakata ramen available in Tokyo" on Safari and visited this shop. I arrived on a weekday at 8:40 pm, and the tables were almost full. There was space at the counter, so I sat there. I quickly decided on the Hakata Ramen 850 yen (thin noodles, firm) and it arrived almost immediately. The thin noodles were only available in firm, regular, or soft. The broth was a refined tonkotsu soup without any strong flavors. The thin noodles were really thin, almost too thin (understandable why extra firm noodles were not an option). I quickly took a photo and started eating. The noodles became softer over time, but the flavor was a bit bland. I added the spicy pickled vegetables for 150 yen, which arrived promptly. It wasn't spicy, so I continued eating with the bland flavor. I decided to order extra noodles for 150 yen (very firm thin noodles), which arrived quickly as well. This was more to my liking, but the flavor was still bland. The broth also became diluted with the extra noodles. I tried adding the remaining spicy pickled vegetables, but it still wasn't spicy. There was chili oil on the table, but it didn't help. There was also an option to order extra broth, but I felt it would just add to the blandness. There was no garlic available. The taste was clean and without any unpleasant flavors, so I finished the bowl. The spicy pickled vegetables might have helped if they were actually spicy. If there was extra ramen sauce on the table, I could have adjusted the flavor to my liking. I left feeling unsatisfied and paid at the cash register before leaving. Also, I felt that the cost performance was not good. The staff members were kind. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant around 2 pm on a weekday. The place was about half full, and I was seated at a two-person table at the back with a view of the Tokyo Station area outside the window. I ordered the Hakata Ramen for 850 yen (tax included). You can choose from two types of noodles here, and I chose the thinner noodles, cooked firm. However, when I tried it, the noodles were softer than expected. The soup had a strong soy sauce flavor, more like a "Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen" than a typical Hakata Ramen. It was a different experience from the Hakata Ramen I've had in Hakata before, but sometimes a change of pace like this can be nice.

I had the lunch set with pickled vegetables and rice for 1,030 yen. Since I hadn't had breakfast, I devoured it. It was a carb-heavy set, so it would be nice to have more vegetables. The slightly spicy dumplings were delicious, and the dessert was a nice touch. The seat with a view of Tokyo Station was lovely.

Lunch is until 5 pm. I rarely visit the 6th floor of Marunouchi Building because the restaurants on the 5th floor are so lively. I arrived smoothly around 3 pm on a weekday. I ordered the limited Chashu rice bowl with ramen set. It was still available at 3 pm, which made me happy. The service was polite, and the ramen was served quickly, which was great for someone hungry like me. The tonkotsu ramen had a rich and gentle flavor, with almost no strong smell. I ordered the noodles to be firm, but I regret not choosing extra firm. The thick and rich soup was delicious. The rice in the Chashu rice bowl had a mysterious aroma of mochi rice. The portion was so big that I wished I had ordered a mini ramen instead (I usually don't add rice to my ramen). To my surprise, the meal even came with almond jelly dessert. Considering it's in Marunouchi Building, the prices were reasonable. I found a hidden gem for lunch.

It turns out that there is a new Red Curtain other than Nishi-Azabu! After shopping at BEAMS, I wanted to eat something at Marunouchi Building, so I looked at the information plate in the building and decided to go to Red Curtain! I ordered a mini pork bone ramen and a shikuwasa sour for day drinking, along with water dumplings as a snack. The water dumplings were great as a snack, but also a nice addition to the pork bone ramen! I also ordered extra rice with spicy pickled mustard greens because it was so delicious. Oh, it was so good! The pork bone ramen with spicy pickled mustard greens and cloud-like water dumplings was irresistible. I remembered the time I ate in Nishi-Azabu while getting drunk. Next to me, a French person was slurping up their ramen, and I was impressed by their proper eating manners. You know what you're doing! The spicy pickled mustard greens with rice was so delicious. It's okay to have pork bone ramen for day drinking in Hakata style. Please also allow the grilled dumplings! Thank you for the meal.
