Established in the 10th year of the Taisho era, the New Otani branch of the yakitori specialty store Kyobashi Isehiro is located on the Arcade floor (basement 1st floor) of The Main, with the lobby floor on the 2nd floor, the banquet floor below (1st floor), and the Arcade floor below that. The hotel itself has a unique atmosphere that I love, but the Arcade floor exudes an even stronger Showa retro mood that makes you want to walk around in a circle. After circling twice, we entered the restaurant (laughs). Inside the restaurant, there are counter seats, sunken tatami seating, and table seating. The best seats are at the counter facing the grill, where you can watch the chef's hands at work (゚∀゚) Wow! The space between the counter and the grill is separated by acrylic panels, so there is no smoke. Now, should we go for the bento set or the set meal, and how many skewers should we get? The bento set has 3 skewers (starting from 1,450 yen including tax), while the set meal has 5 skewers (starting from 2,380 yen including tax). I went for the set meal with 6 skewers, and my companion chose the set meal with 5 skewers. We started with pickled vegetables. The set meal comes with a mini salad, which is a nice touch. The yakitori set meal with 5 skewers for 2,380 yen (my companion) comes with default options of chicken tenderloin, skin, scallion-wrapped skewer, meatball, and chicken thigh. The yakitori set meal with 6 skewers for 2,780 yen includes default options of scallion-wrapped skewer, meatball, chicken thigh, chicken tenderloin, skin, and various chicken liver dishes. You can also customize according to your preferences. The aroma of the charcoal is fragrant, the texture is firm and juicy, and the chicken flavor is rich and delicious! The scallion-wrapped skewer (the thick one in the center) is thinly sliced chicken thigh wrapped in leeks, with shishito peppers and shiitake mushrooms in between. It's incredibly delicious. Next time, I'll try 1 chicken tenderloin and 2 scallion-wrapped skewers. The simple chicken soup is delicious, and the rice (refills available) is also tasty, leaving us completely satisfied. I'd like to visit the Kyobashi main store as well, but the New Otani branch allows for hotel exploration and the purchase of cakes from Satsuki or Elme (laughs). If you feel like eating delicious yakitori, I would like to revisit this place. Please note that they are closed for lunch every Wednesday and Saturday for the time being.
