Sagano Croquette. This croquette shop is located just a 1-minute walk from Arashiyama Station on the Randen Arashiyama Line! It is a specialty of Arashiyama! You can enjoy a delicious croquette with a crispy and fluffy texture, perfect for eating on the go ✨ Made with well-seasoned potatoes and beef, these croquettes are truly unique in their deliciousness. The special feeling of eating outside is also unique to eating on the go ✨

I went cycling to Arashiyama after a long time and had my favorite Sagano croquette. The specialty of this shop is the gold award croquette, but personally, I feel that the bamboo shoot croquette is the best. I usually eat while pushing my road bike, so I don't observe carefully, but this time I was able to sit on a bench and eat calmly, so I looked closely. In terms of appearance, there are green things mixed in, which I think is probably seaweed, but if it were bamboo shoots, it would be clever. In terms of aroma and taste, first, the Japanese-style dashi aroma tickles the nose, and then the fluffy texture of the potatoes and the crunchy texture of the bamboo shoots come through. It's not crispy cut, so it's not crispy, but the fiber feeling is pleasantly comfortable. In terms of seasoning, you can feel the subtle Japanese umami while hardly feeling greasiness, so it's easy to eat. As Arashiyama is famous for its bamboo groves, this dish is a unique gem that you won't easily find in other shops.

★ The popular No. 1 menu that won the Gold Award at the National Croquette Contest is a creamy and spicy dish with plenty of Japanese beef red meat. Despite being a beef croquette, it gives the illusion of eating a cream croquette, and it is crispy when freshly fried, making it perfect for eating on the go. The shop is always crowded with customers because it is cheap and delicious. Unfortunately, the delicious looking bamboo shoot croquette was sold out. When I visit Arashiyama, I always make sure to buy this croquette. It's great that it tastes delicious every time you eat it. For more details about the Gold Award Premium Croquette, please visit: https://sayakahime2023.fc2.net/blog-entry-261.html Arashiyama Saga Arashiyama Croquette, winner of the Gold Award at the National Croquette Contest! If you want to eat croquettes, this is the place to go. Located about 100 meters from Togetsukyo Bridge, this croquette shop always has a line. One of Arashiyama's two famous croquettes is the Saga Arashiyama Croquette. The popular No. 1 menu that won the Gold Award at the National Croquette Contest, the "Gold Award Croquette (200 yen)", is a creamy and spicy dish with plenty of Japanese beef red meat. It is a popular croquette made with Hokkaido potatoes and Awaji onions. I had bamboo shoot croquettes in Arashiyama, Kyoto! The taste was delicious♪ Am I the only one who thinks that bamboo shoot croquettes are not something you see often? I don't usually eat bamboo shoots, so I was curious and ended up ordering them! The price was reasonable and the taste was good, so I recommend it♪

I had a beef croquette from Saga-no-Korokke for lunch. Due to the pandemic, I felt hesitant about eating out, so I had it packed to go and ate it in my car. It was a bit of a walk to the parking lot, so by the time I started eating, it was still hot. It was delicious!

I tried the Sagano croquette for 200 yen. The crust was unexpectedly crispy and had a delicious flavor, possibly from using lard in the oil. The filling was moist. Although it wasn't freshly fried, it was hot enough and the crust was crunchy. It's a croquette from a clean butcher shop. It may not be worth buying specifically in a tourist spot, but it feels relatively good value compared to others that are more expensive. They are good at business.

I had bamboo shoot croquettes at this restaurant. They didn't contain any meat, but were filled with finely chopped bamboo shoots, with a hint of bonito dashi to bring out the flavor of the bamboo shoots. It was an interesting croquette that suited my taste well. You can sit in what seems like an empty warehouse at the back. When I tried to upload a photo to Tabelog while eating, I found out that the restaurant was not listed. I thought I would have to register it as a new listing when I got home, but it turned out that the listing was pending. There are other cases where some restaurants are still pending despite being in operation, which can be seen as hindering their business in a way. I have always believed that it's not right to hinder a restaurant's business with amateur comments or ratings. While it's important to regulate overly harsh comments, being cautious with pending listings is also necessary.

At Arashiyama Station, I bought a canned beer and then moved towards Togetsukyo Bridge where I found "Saga Arashiyama Croquette" shop. They sell croquettes and other fried foods, which go perfectly well with beer. I was drawn to the crispy oyster fry priced at 350 yen. It was a small portion of oysters with a dollop of tartar sauce, and it tasted quite delicious. I originally planned to get a croquette, but I remembered hearing on TV that most regional croquettes are made by a food company in Osaka, so I decided to pass on it. The prices were a bit high as it is a tourist spot. There is a butcher shop nearby where you can get croquettes if you really want them.

Cycle road connecting Kizugawa no Izumi Bridge to Arashiyama's Togetsukyo Bridge, with a total length of 45km. Starting from Yawata's Gokyo Bridge, I sometimes go for a ride, but just cycling alone can be boring. When heading to Arashiyama, personally I like to make Sagano Croquette my goal. Among them, the croquette made with Kyoto's specialty, bamboo shoots, is recommended. This shop is a food stall for tourists, and while the shop recommends the croquette with the savory taste of meat, I prefer the bamboo shoot croquette. Inside the crispy coating, there is a mix of fluffy potatoes and bamboo shoots cooked in a soy-based broth, giving a crunchy texture when you bite into the bamboo shoot, along with a sweet taste of Japanese broth. Since it's a tourist spot, taking the train there and exploring Sagano while enjoying various foods is also recommended.

When you go for a stroll in Arashiyama, even if you're not that hungry, you still end up wanting something. So, I bought the most popular beef croquette and, as usual, asked the classic question, "Where's the beef?" Well, as long as it's fun, it's okay.

Kyoto Autumn Day Trip Sightseeing. Planned to have morning ramen at "Daiichi Asahi Takabashi," but seeing the large number of tourists in front of Kyoto Station, decided to head straight to Arashiyama. Passed by Nakamuraya Sohonke's croquette, but of course, one croquette was not enough. While walking towards Togetsukyo Bridge, spotted a stall called "Saga Arashiyama Croquette" with yellow lantern signs hanging. Unlike the meat shop Nakamuraya, this stall had a tourist-friendly atmosphere. Once again, opted for a croquette, as sweet items were the only other things that caught the eye. Menu: Most popular - Beef Croquette 150 yen / Second popular - Gold Award Croquette 200 yen / Bamboo Shoot Croquette 150 yen / Black Wagyu Menchi 250 yen / Oyster Fry 300 yen / Shrimp Fry 350 yen. Also selling various soft-serve ice creams and Ichiban Shibori beer. Apologies, but ordered only one Beef Croquette. A woman staff member (possibly the owner) wearing a cap, similar to "Misae-chan" from "Ueda Noodle Shop," served with a smile. No waiting, served hot and crispy in a paper bag. Crispy and delicious, with a smooth and creamy croquette where the minced meat is not visible. The slight sweetness is also a significant difference. The 50 yen price difference might be due to the difference in location, just thinking about the rent cost difference. My wife thinks this one is better because it tastes like real lard and is delicious. Well, compared to town croquettes, it is certainly elegant and tasty, perfect for eating on the go. But for me, the evaluation is completely opposite to my wife's. I think this is delicious in its own right, but it lacks the wow factor, so I would say the croquette from Nakamuraya Sohonke wins in terms of impact. 76 points.

On a Friday afternoon around 2pm, I stopped by a croquette shop that caught my eye as people were walking by enjoying their food. Despite it being a weekday, the main street I crossed after passing the Togetsukyo Bridge was crowded with tourists overflowing onto the sidewalks. I purchased a Beef Croquette (150 yen tax included), the simplest option, and enjoyed it while walking. Even without sauce, the sweetness and umami of the potatoes, along with the flavor of the beef, made it delicious enough on its own.

In December, I am on a food tour in Kyoto, following my visit to Nishiki Market, I am now exploring Arashiyama. I tried the Yuba soft serve ice cream at Saga Tofu Ina, and then visited Saga no Korokke. This place specializes in croquettes, offering beef croquettes, award-winning croquettes, and bamboo shoot croquettes, as well as dishes like minced black wagyu, oyster fry, and shrimp fry ranging from 150 yen to 350 yen. The most popular is the beef croquette, followed by the award-winning croquette, but I decided to try the bamboo shoot croquette. It had a Japanese flavor with bamboo shoots inside the sweet potato, giving it a crunchy texture that was quite delicious.

After having coffee at Arabica Kyoto, I headed to Shoryuen to buy souvenirs. Along the way, I saw a flyer at Fufu no Yu advertising Sagano Croquettes, so I decided to stop by to buy one. However, I ended up buying a Menchi Katsu instead because it was more affordable. The Menchi Katsu had a good amount of minced meat inside, but not as much as a croquette. The coating was crispy, slightly sweet, and overall delicious. My friend tried the croquette and said it was delicious too.

I was lured by the smell of fried food and purchased the gold award croquettes for 200 yen each. I bought two (one for my husband and one for myself). They were hot and delicious at the time, but later on, I became extremely thirsty.
