In the middle of summer at Kyoto Station. I was heading to Sannomiya, but had some time to spare before the meeting. I was wandering around the station and came across this shop. It's a tea house that has been around for over 100 years in Uji. It was hot, so I decided to have something light to drink. While regular matcha ice cream or soft serve would have been nice, I saw matcha latte on the menu and ordered it. It arrived quickly. The matcha had a beautiful green color, rich in flavor with a hint of sweetness. It was perfectly chilled. It had been a while since I had matcha, but it was still calming. They also have a variety of matcha sweets on the menu, so you can enjoy matcha in different ways.

I visited Gion Tsujiri Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi store near the Shinkansen platform at Kyoto Station. I got a take-out of cold roasted green tea (¥350) and drank it on the Shinkansen to Tokyo. It had a rich umami and sweetness like Gyokuro, and was deliciously refreshing. Kyoto's tea is always delicious after all. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered a green tea for 400 yen, and for an extra 100 yen, they made it carbonated. Surprisingly, the carbonation went well with the strong tea, and I enjoyed the refreshing fizz.

I received this snack. Its name is "Incredibly Delicious Matcha Brownie". The matcha flavor is rich. The white chocolate inside adds a nice touch. It's individually packaged, making it easy to eat. Perfect for enjoying with tea.

At Kyoto Station, I couldn't decide what to get for takeout on my way home, but I ended up choosing castella and ofuku. The castella had a strong roasted green tea flavor, was slightly bitter, moist, not too sweet, and cut into convenient slices. The new product, ofuku, came with two varieties - one with stone-milled matcha cream which was rich, and the other with a sweet roasted green tea flavor. The texture was fluffy and moist like steamed bread, and it was delicious.

It seems to be a collaboration between Tsuruya Yoshinobu and Gion Tsujiri, and it's a limited menu item at the Hachijo-guchi store! I bought this dessert to take back to my hotel at Kyoto Station. I had it as a late-night snack. The white and green parts on the surface are both coated with a crispy chocolate layer. Even though they are hard, they can be easily broken with a spoon. The green part is matcha, which is rich and delicious. Below that is a soft mousse-like texture. It was definitely worth buying, although it was a bit pricey at 626 yen for one piece.

The matcha latte I had after a long time was deep in matcha flavor but not too sweet, making it refreshing and delicious. If you go up to the second floor, there is a Shinkansen gate right there, making it convenient to stop by on the way back from a trip.

A shop located outside the Hachijo exit of JR Kyoto Station. They have a seating area at the back where you can enjoy what you bought at a leisurely pace. I purchased a Matcha Float for 550 yen. The matcha soft serve was rich and delicious. I used my transfer time of just under an hour to enjoy it, then headed back inside the ticket gates. Thank you for the meal.

They also have a small seating area at the back of the store, where you can enjoy your drink or sweets while taking a break. I ordered their popular matcha soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone. The soft serve was packed with matcha flavor all the way to the bottom of the cone, and it was incredibly satisfying. The sweetness and bitterness of the matcha were excellent, and the crispy texture of the waffle cone added to the experience. I visited Kyoto City in June. I came to ASTY ROAD on the first floor of Kyoto Station by Shinkansen to look for souvenirs. There are various Kyoto souvenirs available here, but there is actually no need to hesitate in choosing. This is because there is a very Kyoto-like and universally popular confectionery. This time, I purchased "Tsujiri no Sato 8 pieces" for 432 yen and its sister product "Gion no Sato 8 pieces" for 432 yen as souvenirs for my colleagues. These "matcha sweets" by a well-known Uji tea traditional tea merchant have a crispy texture like Western confectionery, which is their greatest charm. Inside the rolled rice cracker, there is a rich and fragrant matcha cream packed tightly. The harmonious combination of the light texture and rich cream creates a wonderful taste. On the other hand, the sister product is a rice cracker with Uji matcha kneaded in, rolled with white cream. This one also has a fragrant matcha flavor and is an exquisite item that can be enjoyed both taste and smell. Both are individually packaged, so it would be a perfect souvenir for the workplace to distribute two types each.

The schedule went smoothly so I took a little break☻ Luckily, there was a store nearby so I decided to wait in line and buy something☻♬▪️ I had a cold matcha drink. I usually get soft serve ice cream but it was too hot, so I wanted a simple drink. It wasn't too sweet, the bitterness of the matcha was quite strong and refreshing, making it perfect for hot summer days◎ Next time when I get thirsty, I might try a float or another drink. But I will definitely come back for my usual soft serve ice cream☻♬

I decided to go for the frozen cup ice instead of soft serve ice cream because it seemed like a better deal at 388 yen, and it turned out to be really delicious! It has a deep matcha flavor that really stands out. The ice cream has 8.5% non-fat milk solids and 8.0% milk fat, which is lower compared to Häagen-Dazs, but the intensity of the matcha flavor really makes it shine. It seems like they have put a lot of effort into the production of this ice cream, as the texture and richness are superb. This is probably the best matcha ice cream I've ever had, better than even the more concentrated version of Häagen-Dazs.

Gion Tsujiri is a souvenir shop and drinks stand. Located near the Hachijo exit, it is less crowded than the central exit, allowing for a leisurely shopping experience.
