I visited for the first time in about 30 years. However, I was very soothed by the fact that the atmosphere has not changed at all since then. While the town of Arashiyama is bustling with tourists returning, this shop seems to be a step back from the street and...

Lunch today at the long-established yudofu restaurant "Sagano" in Arashiyama♪ I had the yudofu set meal♪ The set meal includes yudofu, onsen tamago, konjac sashimi, simmered nama-fu, hiryu head, sweetfish in amazake, homemade sesame tofu, tempura, rice, pickles, and dessert. Sagano is located very close to Tenryu-ji Temple♪ There are several yudofu restaurants in Arashiyama, but this is my favorite☺️ Enjoyed a lovely lunchtime in the beautiful garden♪ The tofu here is very delicious♡ Thank you for the meal♪ #gaikolunch #gaikolunchtime #gaikoyudofu #yudofusagano #gaikokyoto #gaikotravel #arashiyama #yudofu

This is a famous restaurant in Arashiyama, Kyoto, known for its delicious tofu dishes. Despite nursing a hangover from the previous day, I made sure to have a hearty breakfast before making my way to this lunch spot. I had thought that any tofu dish would do, but that would be disrespectful to the tofu here. I was hooked on the deliciousness of the hearty tofu dishes. It goes without saying that I later went to Morika to buy tofu.

I made a reservation in advance for the Sagano course because I love yudofu. The most impressive dishes were not the yudofu, but the yuba and tempura. The yuba was very rich and delicious, while the tempura featured Kyoto vegetables. The course included various spring mountain vegetables, and we enjoyed them while waiting for the yudofu to be served. Towards the end, we had tempura and left feeling satisfied. We finished off with matcha warabi mochi. The cost-performance ratio of around 6,000-7,000 yen is a bit lacking, but enjoying the view outside while listening to the nightingales sing and savoring the food made it a truly Kyoto-like experience, exceeding the cost-performance ratio.

The tofu hot pot set meal is 4,000 yen. I came to Arashiyama aiming for the cherry blossom season, but this year the cherry blossoms were already falling. This restaurant is located near Tenryu-ji Temple, where you can enjoy a meal while looking at a beautiful garden. Although the price is high when considering the meal cost, the atmosphere makes it worth it. The pickles and shredded mountain pepper served with the tofu were delicious.

I went there without making a reservation, but since it was around 3 o'clock, it was very empty and great. The place is quite spacious. The garden is also lovely. Every space is beautiful. They only offer one course, which was a hot tofu set meal. It was quite filling and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On the second day of sightseeing in Kyoto, I went to a famous restaurant known for its Yudofu (hot tofu) lunch set. The price was 4,000 yen, but the beautiful garden and the traditional atmosphere of the restaurant made it worth it. I ordered the Yudofu lunch set and it was delicious! The tofu was amazing, and all the other dishes were also seasoned perfectly. Eating there made me realize once again that Kyoto's cuisine is truly delicious.

I arrived at exactly 11 o'clock. There were already about ten people waiting to be seated, but we were seated within a few minutes. The only option was a set meal for 4,000 yen. From the second floor tatami room, we enjoyed a tofu set meal while looking at a splendid garden. The service was efficient and we were able to leave within an hour. The hot tofu was delicious! With the increasing number of tourists, this place is sure to get crowded.

Sagano❤︎, a famous tofu hot pot restaurant in Arashiyama. I had been curious about this place ever since a rickshaw driver in Arashiyama told me it was famous for its tofu hot pot. Finally, I visited with my mother in kimono! During the autumn foliage season, they don't take reservations, so we lined up for a table. The meal was a set course for 4,000 yen. The tofu hot pot had a rich soybean flavor and was delicious on its own. The tempura was also crispy and amazing. We were able to use the national travel support coupon, so we had a great meal at a good price. Thank you for the feast!

Two months ago, I decided to go see the autumn leaves in Kyoto and at the same time, have Yudofu (tofu hot pot) in Arashiyama. I tried to make a reservation right away, but they said they don't take reservations in November, instead, they have a board where you can write your name. I took an early morning Shinkansen train and transferred to the San'in Line to Saga Station. I hurried to Sagano to write my name on the board, and luckily I was the 7th person! It was at 10:10 am. Until the restaurant opened, I strolled around Hōgon-in Temple and returned for the 11 am opening. Soon after, I was seated on the second floor of the main building with a nice view of the garden. The start of the autumn leaves season in Kyoto went really smoothly, and I had a pleasant time.

While exploring Arashiyama in Kyoto, I happened to come across Saga-no-yu Tofu, where I was able to dine without a reservation even on a Sunday at 11:45 am. It was a pleasant surprise considering there was a small line forming outside after I arrived. This tofu specialty restaurant is set in a beautiful Japanese garden, typical of Kyoto. The meal consisted solely of tofu dishes, and the 4000 yen fee includes the enjoyment of the garden as well. The tofu was truly delicious - smooth and silky with a unique flavor profile that sets it apart from store-bought varieties. After the meal, I took a leisurely stroll around the garden before leaving. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you for the meal!

Arashiyama in Kyoto. A tofu restaurant near Togetsukyo Bridge. I made a reservation in advance through Ichijiku. - Saga Goyosen (6000 yen): - Appetizers: - Namasu with persimmon, dashimaki tamago, sweet simmered ayu, okara and sesame tofu. - Yudofu Sashimi: Thick yudofu sashimi with a rich soybean aroma. - Yudofu: Silky tofu with a strong soybean aroma. - Cooked Assortment: Yudofu in thick aburaage, fig, shiitake, okra, etc. - Soup: Burdock tofu, warabi, shiitake, mitsuba, carrot, chrysanthemum. - Lotus Root Steamed Dish: Steamed lotus root with ginkgo nuts, mitsuba, wood ear mushrooms, carrot, etc. - Accompaniments: Figs with miso, ginkgo nuts, taro simmered in soy sauce, chestnuts, fu with shapes of ginkgo leaves and autumn leaves. - Tempura: Tempura with raw yudofu, prosciutto, yam, burdock, shiso, soba with ginkgo nuts, pickled ginger, asparagus, mini carrots. - Dessert: Matcha warabi mochi. The atmosphere of the rain falling outside the window onto the Japanese garden added to the dining experience. The tofu and yudofu were delicious, but the pacing of the meal was a bit rushed. Overall, the service was excellent. If you want to try yudofu in Kyoto, this is the place to go.

The purpose of this trip was to visit the Tenryu-ji Temple to see the "Cloud Dragon" painting by Soga Shohaku, and to go to a bar in Kyoto. We made a reservation for an early dinner that fit our schedule. In the quiet city of Kyoto, we were the only ones at the spacious restaurant. We had a private room and enjoyed the "Saga Arashiyama Gozen" tofu hot pot course for 5,000 yen. The meal included individual servings of tofu hot pot, an assortment of appetizers, sliced tofu sashimi, a warm dish with tofu filling, a side dish of winter melon, okra, bell pepper, and cherry tomatoes, seasonal eggplant dish, fried sweet potato, corn, zucchini, chili pepper, and myoga, rice with pickled vegetables, and a dessert of matcha bracken rice cake. The tofu and sliced tofu had a firm texture. The course was generous, so even the tofu hot pot set meal for 4,000 yen would have been sufficient. We were able to leisurely enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto in the beautiful garden and serene private room.

On the third day of my Kyoto trip in December 2020, after enjoying the garden of Tenryu-ji, I went to a restaurant in Saga Arashiyama for Yudofu (tofu hot pot). I waited for guidance to my room inside a building near the entrance for about 10 minutes, and was then led to a tatami room on the second floor of a separate building. In front of me, there was a beautiful garden with autumn leaves. The Yudofu set meal cost 4000 yen and included Yudofu, spicy pickled eggplant, onsen tamago (hot spring egg), konjac with spicy miso, sesame tofu, simmered gluten, sweetfish simmered in syrup, and tempura of Hiryu (a type of fish). The meal also came with rice and almond tofu for dessert. It was a satisfying meal. I also had a glass of Premium Malts draft beer for 800 yen. I enjoyed the elegant building and garden of the restaurant, experiencing the unique atmosphere of Kyoto.

I went to Suzumushi Temple with my friends, and then we went to Arashiyama for a autumn foliage walk. We researched a famous Yudofu restaurant in advance and went there. The atmosphere was very nice, and when I saw the photos, I was worried that my legs would hurt in a tatami room, but I was glad we got a table seat. We waited a little bit, but we were seated quickly. The course meal was 4000 yen, and each dish was delicious. Since it's Kyoto, the flavors were subtle, and the Yudofu was creamy and tasty. We were full and satisfied. My friends were also very happy, which made me happy. Even on a weekday, it was quite crowded, but we were able to go without a reservation. I think it will be busier on weekends during the autumn foliage season. I would like to go again next year.

The restaurant has a Kyoto-like atmosphere. This time, I had lunch at a yudofu restaurant while looking at the inner garden. The view is tranquil and the food is delicious, making me very satisfied. With a drink, the total cost is around 5000 yen, which is quite satisfying for lunch. I highly recommend taking the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely meal here. In particular, the Hirosu dish is personally very delicious. Could it be Hirosu by Moriyoshi? The tofu is also likely from Moriyoshi. Many people stop by alone. No reservation is needed! Thank you for the meal.

Today's "lunch" ♫ (^ω^) GOTO Travel to Kyoto for the third time this year! This time we went to Arashiyama. The autumn leaves are the most beautiful I've ever seen! For lunch, we had Yudofu at Sagano. The Yudofu was delicious and the garden view was amazing. It's understandable why it's a bit pricey. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal ^_^

I couldn't make a reservation at the restaurant, and it was during the autumn leaf season, so all the first-round reservations were already full before opening. Luckily, I was able to get a seat on the window side of the 2nd floor, so I could enjoy a relaxing time with the best view. They offer the same course menu for both lunch and dinner. The amount of dishes was really generous, and the yudofu (hot tofu) portion was even double what I expected, so I was completely full. The pre-appetizer pickled eggplant was incredibly delicious, and I couldn't find it at other pickle shops. I wonder what it was. I would love to eat it again. (In addition to the photos, there was also rice served.)

"Sagano" A famous restaurant in Arashiyama known for its Yudofu (tofu hot pot). I had lunch at Sagano in Arashiyama! I got a little lost on the way to the restaurant but eventually arrived safely! The grounds are quite spacious and enjoyable to walk around. Although the autumn leaves had not started yet, it must be incredibly beautiful during the season! The menu has only one option - the Yudofu course. The Yudofu was amazingly delicious, and the tempura was also fantastic! It goes really well with rice. If you ever visit Arashiyama, be sure to check out this place! Thank you for the delicious meal!

I came here because the famous yudofu restaurant in Arashiyama was not available until 3:30. They limit the number of seats to avoid crowds, so it's a relatively spacious restaurant, but I had to wait for about 30 minutes. They only serve yudofu set meals for ¥4,000. I think it's a satisfying taste and atmosphere with a beautiful garden.

The COVID-19 pandemic shows no signs of abating, but I decided to go on a solo trip to Kyoto in reaction to the self-restraint. On the first day, I visited Arashiyama. It was my first time trying authentic Yudofu, and it was quite delicious. It looks and feels like silk tofu, but I was told it's actually cotton tofu. It doesn't use nigari. The dipping sauce was explained to me as ponzu, but it had almost no acidity and was more similar to soy sauce. I enjoyed it with toppings of green onions and ginger. Additionally, I tried sesame tofu, onsen tamago, simmered ayu fish with sansho pepper, and tempura, all of which were delicious. When I looked at the entire meal, I wondered if I would be full, but surprisingly, I was satisfied. It was a great experience.
