This is the "Gyoza no Osho Shijo Omiya" restaurant. It is the famous first store. I used to visit frequently 23 years ago, but then I moved and couldn't visit often. However, I visited 10 years ago. First, I had a draft beer. It was ice-cold and delicious. And then, the gyoza I was looking forward to. So tasty! The filling is on a different level! Seriously delicious! That's all from "Gyoza no Osho Shijo Omiya" restaurant. Thank you for the meal! Grateful! Grateful! Grateful!

I came to Kyoto and wondered why Gyoza no Ohsho? That's because it's the first store. We happened to come here for dinner after sightseeing. When we entered, I thought it was only counter seats, but there were seats up to the 4th floor and we were guided to the 2nd floor. My son had fried rice and gyoza, my daughter had char siu ramen and gyoza, my wife had Gokou Tenjin rice set, and I had Gyoza no Ohsho ramen set. These are familiar dishes like gyoza, ramen, and fried rice, but this is the taste of the main store. I felt it was more delicious than usual, without the variation in taste that you might feel at other stores. The CM on the monitor behind our seats kept playing and stuck in my head.

Gyoza no Osho, Shijo-Omiya 1st branch, is a well-known directly operated store. They serve classic gyoza and cold Asahi Super Dry beer. Their Kyoto-style dashi Tianjin rice is a must-try. I personally prefer the Kyoto-style sauce over the sweet vinegar for the Tianjin rice. The mapo tofu has just the right amount of spiciness. The cost performance is excellent. If my stomach was bigger, I would definitely order the stir-fried liver and leek and fried chicken.

Gyoza no Osho's first store. As a fan of Gyoza no Osho, I finally visited the long-awaited store. I expected it to be an old, run-down shop, but it was actually clean, new, and four stories high. It must have been renovated. It is indeed the first store, so it's not surprising that it's not exactly the same as before. The taste is what you would expect from Gyoza no Osho. Chain stores usually have consistent flavors, and the first store with four floors (complete with an elevator) is truly impressive. It was a memorable experience.

On a summer afternoon, I was seated in a box seat on the second floor and ordered gyoza and a draft beer. This was the first King Shou restaurant, but there was nothing particularly special about it. The ice-cold beer and perfectly cooked gyoza arrived as expected. As I enjoyed the delicious meal, I realized that this quality was just normal, and I felt grateful for it. I made a wish to live like a wolf from tomorrow onwards, right here at the birthplace of King Shou.

The first time trying Gyoza no Ohsho was at the original store in Shijo-Ohmiya. The gyoza, shrimp chili, and leek liver dishes were all delicious and affordable! I also tried the classic ramen, which had a unique flavor compared to other ramen I've had before. It's hard to pinpoint, but there was a distinct umami taste with a hint of unfamiliarity or quirkiness. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I definitely want to try it again.

"The 'Unforgettable Chinese Ramen Set' seems to have been created with the image of traditional Chinese ramen in mind. However, I don't remember old Chinese ramen being this delicious. It feels like they have upgraded while preserving the goodness of the past. The soy sauce flavor is fantastic. And the chashu is incredibly delicious."

This is Wang Shou Ichiban store! I heard about something called the Omiya Set, so I came here looking forward to it, but it seems they don't have it now. Actually, I'm not a big fan of tonkotsu ramen, but the tonkotsu ramen at Wang Shou is not too strong and quite delicious. The gyoza was consistently tasty, but I got carried away and ordered two servings, so I felt like my stomach was going to burst.

I came for lunch. I can't drink because I came by bike. I ordered the fried rice set. The fried rice was delicious as always. The regular size is definitely better than the small size. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but it tasted better with the magic powder. I had to settle for a non-alcoholic beer. Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in prices at this restaurant. For example, the bottled beer went from 480 to 580 yen, which was quite surprising. However, they still offer bottled beer, unlike some other places that have stopped serving it. If this restaurant didn't have bottled beer, it would lose half of its charm in my opinion. Luckily, the restaurant I frequent still has bottled beer available (and it's nicely chilled). Overall, my preferred order is "fried rice (2), dumplings (1), fried chicken (1), and 1-2 bottled beers". It's tough for me to enjoy my meal with non-alcoholic beer.

I ordered the Gyoza Teishoku (781 yen) and a bottle of beer (638 yen) at Gyoza no Ohsho on Kogoin-dori, just above Shijo Street in Kyoto. The Gyoza Teishoku comes with two sets of gyoza, so I asked for one set to be regular gyoza and the other set to be gyoza without garlic, both well-cooked. The gyoza doesn't all come out at once, so the second set arrives when I finish the first set, which is nice because it's still warm. Sometimes I ask for extra miso sauce (free of charge). I occasionally order the gyoza with extra garlic separately because it's more expensive than the two-set option. I have never asked for both sides to be cooked. I visited the restaurant last month to use a 250 yen coupon I received, and I still have one more coupon to use, so I plan to go back soon!

I visited during lunchtime. It was crowded even before 11:30, but I was seated in about 20 minutes. I tried the dumplings I always get, and they were delicious with a nice punch of garlic flavor.

■Visit date and time: May 11, 2023 (Thursday) 14:40
■Timing of visit: During a 4-night stay near Kintetsu Kyoto Station in the capital city
■What I ate: Just-size Ebi Mayo (Shrimp Mayo) for 328 yen, Kimchi for 165 yen
■What I drank: Large bottle of Asahi Super Dry for 638 yen, Ponzu Chu-hi for 286 yen, Apple Vinegar Chu-hi for 286 yen
■Impressions: Finally, I was able to visit the original Gyoza no Ohsho store. It was calm inside as it was past lunchtime. The kimchi was delicious and the portion was generous. The Ebi Mayo, only available in Kansai, was also delicious with plump shrimp. Thank you for the meal. m(__)m

I heard that the first Gyoza no Ohsho store is located in Kyoto, so I went to check it out. I was surprised to learn that it was in Kyoto, as I had imagined it being in a completely different prefecture. I went around 6 pm on the first day of Golden Week. The three-story restaurant was already packed on every floor, with a long line extending outside. I waited for about an hour, but the staff were all working efficiently without any wasted movements. Finally, when my turn came, I got to enjoy the original taste of the restaurant! I ordered a ramen set, gyoza, and liver and leek stir-fry. The ramen set came with gyoza, fried rice, and ramen, and it was very filling. The taste was surprisingly delicious. It was my first time trying Gyoza no Ohsho, and I was hooked by how cheap and tasty it was. The gyoza were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the liver and leek stir-fry had just the right amount of seasoning and was incredibly delicious. The service was quick, and most importantly, it was affordable. If you ever visit Kyoto, I highly recommend checking out the first Gyoza no Ohsho store. It's a great place to eat delicious food at a reasonable price.

I stumbled upon a Osho restaurant near my hotel during my food tour in Kyoto. It was late at night and I was having trouble finding a ramen shop for my final meal, but luckily I found this Osho restaurant. It was surprising to see Osho open at such a late hour, and there was even a line outside. According to the sign, this is where Osho originated from. It made me feel nostalgic thinking about how Osho has expanded from here to become a well-known chain. Although I didn't have their famous gyoza that night, as a Kansai resident, I associate gyoza with Osho, shumai with Hourai, and ramen with Kinryu. The ramen I had that night was rich and similar to Tenkaippin. The taste was consistent and reliable, making it a place I can always count on. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I visited the first store of "Gyoza no Ohsho", a restaurant that holds special memories for me as I used to visit it with my parents after watching movies at the nearby theater when I was a child. The restaurant has been renovated since then and it felt a bit more spacious. The place was crowded, and I had to wait for about 30 minutes before being seated at the counter. I ordered the "Gyoza no Ohsho Ramen Set (with one serving of gyoza)" for 1,130 yen. First, the gyoza arrived, followed by a mini fried rice, and finally the Gyoza no Ohsho ramen. The ramen bowl was topped with chashu pork, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, and chopped green onions. The soup was a rich and creamy pork bone soy sauce broth, with a mild soy sauce flavor and no strong pork bone smell. The noodles were soft and chewy, and they absorbed the soup well. The pork belly chashu was tender and not too fatty, and the crunchy bean sprouts added a nice texture. The gyoza, which originally came in a set of three, could be upgraded to a full serving (six pieces) for an additional cost. They were crispy on the outside, filled with a garlicky and flavorful meat mixture. The mini fried rice had a delicious flavor of egg and a nice smokiness from the roasted pork, with each grain of rice well-seasoned. I had imagined the ramen to be more like typical Chinese-style noodles, but it was surprisingly flavorful and enjoyable. However, my favorite will always be the gyoza at Gyoza no Ohsho.

I ordered the Gyoza as part of the Sweet and Sour Pork set meal, but with extra garlic. I was worried it might be too garlicky, but I decided to go for it since I was wearing a mask and it was only three pieces of Gyoza. I also asked for a smaller portion of rice since I don't eat much. The Sweet and Sour Pork was delicious as always, and surprisingly, the extra garlic Gyoza was quite tasty. Three pieces should be fine, I hope.

I fill my stomach like a student at the first store of a nationwide chain. Visiting the temples and shrines around the Randen area, it's past 2:30 in the afternoon. Feeling very hungry, I decide to enter Gyoza no Ohsho. You might think, "Why Chinese food in the ancient capital with a traditional atmosphere? And why is there a Gyoza no Ohsho within cycling distance from home?" However, this is the birthplace of the nationwide Gyoza no Ohsho (also known as "Kyoto Ohsho"). The curtain clearly states "First Store." Even at this time, the first floor is full, so I am seated on the second floor. The black walls, tables, and outward-facing glass windows give a sense of cleanliness, suggesting that the place has been renovated since its establishment. The interior is a bit chaotic with music and advertisements on display. I order my usual, the fried rice set (\985 including tax). There doesn't seem to be any special menu exclusive to this store, so I stick to my usual choice. I start with the egg soup to warm up my stomach before digging into the carbs. The soup contains simple ingredients like green onions, egg, and char siu, with a mild and light flavor. The scent of the char siu is subtle, and I enjoy it as a staple, like white rice (well, fried rice is also a staple). The fried chicken included in the set is made with chicken breast and is also light and simple. I add some spices from the table to give it a more flavorful taste. Just as I finish one piece of fried chicken, the main dish, gyoza, arrives. The familiar plate and well-cooked appearance make me eager to try them. The crispy texture of the skin is intriguing, and the filling inside is meaty as usual. I enjoy six pieces with sauce and chili oil. After a short break with some water, I head to the second floor to pay. Feeling full, I catch the Hankyu train. A pilgrimage to the sacred place of Ohsho. I enjoyed the well-cooked gyoza. I will continue to visit this chain without writing a review. Thank you for the meal.

I tried to avoid chain restaurant reviews, but decided to post about the original Gyoza no Ohsho store. There were about 5 groups waiting at 8:30 pm, including a few foreigners. The store is located on the 3rd floor of the headquarters in Shijo Omiya, with a quick and efficient seating process. There is no parking lot, so you have to park at a nearby parking lot. I ordered the set for 2 people (1 serving of gyoza and karaage) and the unforgettable Chinese noodles (featured in a CM by Nakano Daiga). The gyoza tasted really good, perfectly cooked, but is it the magic of the original store? I couldn't clearly tell the difference, but if you have the chance, please try it with your own taste buds. The Shijo Omiya store doesn't have any unique menu items, but they recommended the unforgettable Chinese noodles from the CM. I received a discount coupon until the end of June by participating in a survey. Despite the lack of parking and potential wait times, if you want to experience eating at the sacred first store, definitely visit this place.

I visited around 10 PM on a Saturday night and had to wait a bit because there were several groups ahead of me. I ordered just the right amount of gyoza, tulip, mapo tofu, sweet and sour pork, and fried rice. Everything was delicious, but the sweet and sour pork was especially recommended. When you come to Omiya, be sure to stop by. Thank you for the meal!

I couldn't find a parking spot so I couldn't go for a while, but I finally went to the original store after a long time!! It was crowded, maybe because of the season!! I was seated at the counter in about 10 minutes. The fried rice was 495 yen, Gyoza was 407 yen, and the Gyoza no Ohsho Ramen (just size). Did they stop using the terms large and small?? The taste was reliably delicious, and I feel like I can work hard even in the afternoon. Thank you for the meal!!

Located near Omiya Station and Shijo Omiya Station. Today I had lunch here. The restaurant is multi-level, with the kitchen, counter seats, and cashier on the first floor. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter on the first floor. The menu is nothing out of the ordinary, just like your typical Gyoza no Ohsho restaurant. I ordered gyoza without garlic, fried rice, and a draft beer. Let's dig in! Come to think of it, this is my first time trying gyoza without garlic, and it definitely lacks the usual impact of garlic, but the ginger flavor is still strong. The fried rice is moist and I personally quite like the taste. This time, I only tried the two classics. Thanks for the meal! I arrived a bit off from the lunch rush, but the restaurant was quite crowded with a slight wait. The counter seats are relatively narrow compared to other places, so it's not a very spacious dining experience.
