My friend wanted to eat noodles and rice bowl, so we searched and visited on a weekday night. It is located on the west side of Sanjo Shopping Street, just on the left as you enter. The atmosphere is like an old-fashioned "local udon shop" and it is calming. Various generations of people, from young groups to couples and solo women, were there. The menu ranges from classic noodle and rice bowl dishes to original ones, with plenty of set options. I tried the "Chicken and Egg Soba with Dipping Sauce ¥900," a specialty of the restaurant. You dip cold soba noodles in warm broth. The broth tastes like seafood dipping noodles, with a strong flavor of bonito and rich chicken broth. It's quite flavorful, satisfying even for men. The toppings include chicken, egg, bean sprouts, and green onions, with a slight spicy kick. The portion felt quite generous for one person, but I finished it all with the rice that came with it. As expected, the specialty dish was very delicious. However, I couldn't really taste the soba flavor, so it might be even better with udon instead. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The menu had too many options, so I ended up choosing a mini oyakodon and zaru soba. The chicken in the oyakodon was well-seasoned and had a strong flavor, which paired nicely with the light hand-made soba noodles. At that time, the "Shrimp Tempura with Grated Radish" seemed to be popular as orders were coming in from all over. The elderly woman next to me also ordered it, and her dish came with two large shrimp tempura on top.

It's been a while since my last visit... On Saturday night around 6pm, the seats were almost full... but I managed to find a seat! This time, I had the "toritama tsukesoba"! It seems to be a specialty of Inakatei, and it was my first time trying it. It was delicious and a unique way of eating soba that I couldn't find elsewhere! Thank you for the meal!

It's been a while since I visited Inaka-tei! I had the udon with motsu (offal) and a side of toriten (chicken tempura)!! The udon was perfect for a cold day with its warm broth and perfectly matched noodles... The cabbage was a nice touch and I definitely want to eat it again! Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant was featured on a morning information program a few years ago, and I had been wanting to go ever since. Finally, I visited today after seeing it introduced by Shigeaki Kato last week. It's called Inakatei, located across from Hiro in Sanjo Kai Shotengai. I had the thickly sliced seared chashu dipping soba, while my wife had the eel tempura bukkake udon. They offer free extra noodles, so I got two servings of dipping soba. The seared chashu dipping sauce was deliciously fragrant and the noodles had a nice firm texture. The soba was thin but had a good chew to it. The eel tempura in my wife's dish was fluffy and tasty. The portion sizes were generous, and we saw a regular customer order a 1.5 serving of tempura donburi and grated soba. We will definitely be coming back again! I wish we had come sooner.

I used it around 6:00 pm after work. It was not crowded as it was still early, unlike during lunch hours. I had zaru soba with conger eel tempura, chirimen sansho rice, and beer. The soba had a good texture and was delicious. The conger eel was fluffy, the batter was crispy, and the beer went down smoothly. There were also several other types of tempura, and I left feeling full. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a shop near the west entrance of Sanjo Shopping Street for the first time. I ordered a set of cold udon and oyakodon (1000 yen). You can choose between 1 or 2 servings of noodles for the udon, and both the udon and the sauce were delicious, very satisfying! The oyakodon was also delicious, of course! I would love to visit this shop again.

This is an udon restaurant located on a shopping street, just off Senbon Street. They serve generous portions, with the option to increase the amount for free up to 2 servings of udon or soba. Whether you prefer a regular size or a large serving, this place will satisfy everyone from those with a normal appetite to big eaters. They offer various set meals with rice bowls and the menu is extensive, giving customers the joy of choosing from multiple pages.

I ordered the curry soba and mini katsudon set from Oage-san. The curry broth was delicious, and there was a surprisingly large amount of noodles for just one serving. The cost performance was excellent, but for an elderly person like me, a smaller portion at a lower price would be preferable. The katsu was crispy and not pre-made, but unfortunately, Oage-san only had the seasoned (fox) version. Also, I couldn't find "tanuki" on the menu.

I visited on the evening of Wednesday, March 9, 2022, around 7 o'clock, and there were a few customers. It was surprising to see this many customers on a weekday night. I ordered the limited edition Chinese ramen, which is being revived for a limited time. The texture of the noodles was good, they were proper ramen noodles. The soup was not like that of a udon shop, but it was made with chicken broth and other ingredients. The chashu, green onions, and bamboo shoots were also good. Seriously, it's proper ramen. The slightly Japanese-style atmosphere was also wonderful. It was delicious.

The bicycle was removed, so I went to the Sanjo shopping street to look for lunch since I had time until 2 pm. I saw a sign with the word "master" on it. I have a weakness for masters. Masters can't be used without confidence. They are saying to raise the bar and eat. So let's accept that challenge, that's my thinking. As for the taste... Let's withdraw the master. It's just average.

There is a traditional diner located just inside the Sanjo-dori entrance of Sanjo-kai Shotengai. Once you step inside the easy-to-enter entrance, you will find a retro-style diner. Everything you order at this diner is delicious, but the real standout is their tsukemen. The soup for the tsukemen has a dashi base unique to a Japanese diner, and the thick miso soup is a surprising combination with the soba noodles. You can choose from chicken, pork, or chashu for your toppings, which is a nice touch. You can also choose between 1 or 2 servings of soba noodles for free. I usually go for 1.5 servings. Additionally, they serve a small bowl of rice which you can add to the soup at the end, making it a delightful way to finish the meal. This is a place I find myself wanting to visit regularly.

Established over 110 years ago, this restaurant must have been around even before the shopping street was formed. Although it may not be considered a traditional long-standing establishment in Kyoto, with its 5th generation owner, the interior of the restaurant looks surprisingly clean and well-maintained. The lighting inside creates a different atmosphere from the bright sunlight outside. The menu offers a wide variety of options including hot and cold udon, soba, and rice bowls, with generous toppings on the noodles. Despite not being very hungry, I ordered the zaru udon for 750 yen, which came in a sizable portion with a nice glossy appearance and a balanced thickness. The noodles had a smooth texture and a good chewiness, and the dipping sauce with chopped green onions and wasabi was delicious. The menu mentioned the use of flour from Hokkaido, so I opted for udon instead of soba, which turned out to be the right choice. The dipping sauce was slightly sweet but not overpowering, and I found myself enjoying it with each bite. Overall, with reasonable prices and a delicious meal, this restaurant is a great find for noodle lovers.

I love the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where I can comfortably enjoy my meal without feeling pressured. On this day, I ordered the curry udon and anago tempura rice bowl set. It was a unique combination that I had never tried before, but looking back at past photos, I realized that I had actually ordered it before. It seems like my subconscious has already decided that it's delicious. The large anago tempura and the balance of dashi and curry flavors in the curry udon were exquisite. There was no sign of getting tired of it at all. I savored the meal with a relaxed smile on my face.

I went to the restaurant "Inaka-tei" by myself for lunch on January 27th. It is a noodle shop located on the left side just after entering from the Senbon-dori in Sanjo Shopping Street. I had work nearby in the afternoon, so I decided to have lunch in Sanjo Shopping Street. As I walked in from the east side, I saw many different shops. Every time I found a delicious-looking restaurant, I felt like there might be an even better one ahead, so I ended up walking all the way to the west entrance. There were several signs with menus written outside the restaurant. Just by looking at them, you could tell that they had a wide variety of menu options. I entered the restaurant around 12:15 pm, and the spacious interior was almost full. The menu offers dishes that can be enjoyed by students, office workers, elderly people, and women. After some consideration, I ordered the Curry Mayo Sauce Kashiwa Tendon Set for 880 yen (with tempura soba). It seemed like a slightly heavy dish, but I was in the mood for something a bit rich. The soba noodles were thin, and the broth was sweet, which I personally liked. The kashiwa donburi was smaller than I had imagined, but the flavor was as hearty as I expected. The sansho pepper added a strong kick, and I finished it all in no time. There were many other menu options, so I look forward to trying them next time. Thank you very much.

A famous shop located in the Sanjo Shopping Street in Kyoto. The entrance is narrow, but the inside is quite spacious. The udon and rice bowls are of high quality. The service speed is also excellent. It was quite busy during lunchtime, but we didn't have to wait at all.

I often use this restaurant for late lunch. They have a variety of seating options like tables, counters, and Japanese-style tatami rooms, making it suitable for different occasions. The soba and udon are the same price even if you order 2 servings, which is always a pleasant surprise when I'm hungry. The broth for the soba and udon is gentle yet flavorful, making it easy to keep eating. The tempura is crispy and generous in portion, and the anago tempura bowl was exquisite. Located in a shopping street, I saw local elementary school students doing work experience, and the staff's friendliness was evident. It has a nostalgic, unpretentious diner vibe. It's a wonderful place where you can go alone without feeling stressed.

Visited the restaurant in May 2019. I stopped by when I was passing by and feeling hungry. The appearance of the restaurant is a bit old-fashioned, but the menu has a lot of options which got me excited. I wanted to try udon or soba, but I really wanted to eat a lot of rice, so I chose my favorite dish - the Tempura Shrimp Donburi with a mountain of tempura shrimp. My companion had a set meal with udon and a donburi. The customers were mostly locals, and it felt like a restaurant loved by the community. The Tempura Shrimp Donburi was really a mountain of tempura - with seaweed, eggplant, and lots of tempura, including two tempura shrimp. The sauce was delicious, and even though there was a lot of rice, I finished it all. I also tried some of my companion's cold udon, which was refreshing and tasty. I regretted not ordering the udon set myself, but I finished my donburi. I would like to try the tsukemen next time. It's a charming restaurant with a variety of appealing menu options. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back.

I passed by this restaurant on my way to work and decided to try it out since it was a bit early for the daily hamburger special at Kyuzo, the teppanyaki restaurant down the street. The menu outside caught my eye, especially the Reiwa Special Tendon. It came with large conger eel, big shrimp, kisu fish, and shiso leaf tempura. This is it, I thought. I went inside and ordered the Reiwa Special Tendon (1150 yen) with a side of zaru soba (300 yen). Since it was still early, my order arrived surprisingly quickly. The conger eel and shrimp were huge! I immediately dug into the conger eel. The tempura batter was crispy and the conger eel was fluffy! All the tempura pieces were delicious. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side and maybe a little too generous, making the rice a bit spicy towards the end haha. The soba didn't have a strong buckwheat flavor, and the dipping sauce was quite spicy. I thought maybe I should stick to udon next time. Oh, and I noticed that you can get a second serving of noodles for the same price. What a deal!

I visited this restaurant for the first time and tried their Halloween limited menu, which was a Kyoto-style fried tofu curry with red finger-shaped Vienna sausages. I was thrilled to order it. The curry was deliciously sweet and spicy, and the fried tofu was cooked perfectly. The broth was flavorful. Since it was a Halloween menu, the Vienna sausages had chili oil on them, adding a slightly spicy kick. Additionally, the crispy chicken tempura bowl that came with it was delicious, with a tasty sauce and seasoned seaweed. Everything I tried was delicious, and I am confident that anything on their menu would be just as good. It's a great udon restaurant in a nice neighborhood.

Japan Delicious Food Tour. April 27, 2014. No.253. Number of reviews: 271. After strolling around Demachiyanagi, it was lunchtime and I spotted a soba restaurant. The place was called "Inakatei" and had a very historic exterior. Inside, the restaurant was quite spacious and comfortable. I ordered zaru soba and while waiting, I looked through the menu and observed the interior. It seemed like a restaurant with a history, possibly over 100 years old. The menu offered more than just soba, with various rice bowl dishes and udon. Despite not expecting much, the noodles and broth were made with care and attention to detail. It wasn't outstanding, but it was delicious. It's no surprise that a restaurant that has been in business for over 100 years would serve tasty food to keep customers coming back.
