It has been four years since my last visit. The year after my last visit was when the infamous coronavirus pandemic hit, disrupting the entire year, and I never got around to visiting Fushimi again. However, since my visit to Torisei Kyoto Tower Sand store this winter, I had made up my mind to visit Fushimi again before the year ends. Fushimi was not originally on my list for early summer, but I was determined to go this time, especially because of Torisei. After leaving Fushimi Inari and getting off at Momoyama Goryo-Mae on the Keihan Line, I admired the Uji River diversion where the Jukkokusen boats pass, and the sake brewery of Tsukasabotan. Then, I looked at the exterior of Teradaya. I initially planned to have a beer at Kizakura Sakaba, but for some reason, it was closed on that day. Oh well. Let's head to the main store at last. I entered the store with high spirits, and luckily there were no waiting customers, but then reservation customers started to arrive, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes. Finally, I was seated at a table and looked at the menu. I chose the B set of the slightly drunk set, and opted for beer or nama genshu, choosing the former. The beer was Asahi Super Dry. I'm not a big fan, but the first sip always feels special. The appetizers included pickled vegetables, 5 types of yakitori, and chicken prosciutto, making it a great deal. The yakitori was minced meat, meaty and flavorful, with ginger as a nice accent. Sunazuri had a crunchy texture and a firm umami flavor. The liver was delicious. The heart? Delicious. Negima, of course, this is a must-have. The chicken prosciutto was like prosciutto, making the beer go down smoothly. After having a refill of beer, I used a service voucher (received annually when purchasing sake from Yamamoto Honke online, getting "genshu" in return) to try the "duck loin". The duck loin had no gamey taste and was delicious, pairing well with sake. The sake was a divine dry type, refreshing and tasty. The sauce was also a dry type, perfect for starting off. I was already feeling tipsy, so I decided to stop here. Nevertheless, this restaurant is still fantastic as ever. Fushimi residents are lucky to have such a great place nearby.

The Hanshin Tigers won the championship for the first time in 18 years, so I went to the nearby Joshin to do some shopping. We decided to have lunch here. We arrived at 10:40 AM and there was already a line. We entered the restaurant at 11 AM. We sat at the table at the back where we could see the sky. We started with a draft beer for 590 yen and a yakitori set meal for 850 yen. My wife had the delicious chicken ramen for 680 yen, which had a great chicken broth flavor. We also ordered our favorite agedashi tofu for 180 yen, and grilled chicken tripe and cartilage with salt for 160 yen. All made with chicken from Miyazaki. The restaurant also serves sake made by the brewery, but since it's not winter, we had the original sake for 460 yen. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, with a Kyoto-style feel. Although the famous Tsukasa Gin restaurant is only about 50 meters away, everyone comes to this Yamamoto Honke restaurant. There is also a restaurant for the brand Kizakura nearby. I used to visit often because my house was near the Teradaya where Ryoma Sakamoto was attacked.

The first cup of vintage sake I ordered was so good that I forgot to take a picture before taking a sip. The second cup was poured generously, almost overflowing from the dish. I decided to keep ordering the 94 yen skewers, and they kept coming out quickly, especially right after the restaurant opened. The yakitori and tsukune were delicious, but the grilled gizzard seemed a bit overcooked. Overall, the additional orders took a bit of time to arrive, but they were tasty.

After strolling around Fushimi, my friend recommended a ramen shop near the station for lunch. However, we came across a charming yakitori restaurant that was renovated from an old sake brewery. My friend, who loves to eat, immediately suggested that we have yakitori without any hesitation. It turned out that the restaurant was directly managed by the sacred sake brewery, with a spacious dining area and a lovely renovated brewery atmosphere. Despite it being a late lunch hour, the place was almost full, showing its popularity. We ordered the chef's recommended 6-skewer assortment for 1,020 yen, which came with both salt and sauce depending on the part of the chicken. We also ordered another dish of grilled chicken from a mature hen, which I really like. It was served in a pot with solid fuel, reminiscent of a ryokan dinner, and we were delighted to receive Fushimi's famous spring water service. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience.

On a Sunday afternoon in Fushimi Momoyama, I was considering where to go and decided to visit a place that I thought would be crowded, but surprisingly there was no wait! I wondered if the place was losing its popularity or if it was just because of the heat. I was seated right away and able to enjoy my meal. I ordered the "yakitori set meal" and a "sip of raw sake." The sake was sweet but delicious. Normally, I don't drink alcohol with additives, but since it was recommended by the restaurant, I gave it a try and it was good. The set meal was also delicious. I would recommend changing the dressing on the salad as I prefer a soy sauce-based dressing.

I have been to this restaurant many times, but I visited after a long time. It seems that reservations are now available, so I made a reservation before going. The ordering system using a tablet device was convenient for me, but there were some parts that were a little hard to see. As for the food, the yakitori was delicious as always, and the chicken croquette was a bit different but tasty. I also love the nama-fu. Since the food arrives quickly after ordering, it's better to be careful not to order too much at once. The tables fill up quickly.

I have been a regular here for over 10 years. Among them, the grilled chicken lunch set is a classic. It's the best when you eat grilled chicken with sake (freshly made tare sauce). I have visited many yakitori restaurants, but the yakitori here is my favorite. I also recommend the chicken ramen and kama-meshi.

I came here after a long time. Torisei has several branches, but I recommend the main store. The building has been around since the Edo period, giving it a local atmosphere that feels calm at night. There are willow trees along the nearby moat, adding to the charm. Of course, the food, centered around yakitori, is reasonably priced and delicious. I also recommend trying the limited quantity Tori Ramen.

While visiting Fushimi for a sake brewery tour, I had lunch at a famous restaurant. The quality of the yakitori on their lunch menu was excellent. I also tried their in-house sake called "Shinsei," which was smooth and delicious. I am interested in going back for dinner service as well.

The other day, I went to explore a sake brewery with a friend in Osaka amidst the heat. Along the way, my friend suggested getting some chilled sake, so I mentioned that we could go to the Gekkeikan Sake Museum where we could enter and try some cold water or samples, but my friend insisted on going to Torisei for chilled sake and yakitori. As for me, I had the chicken ramen. Well, since I was treating, I didn't mind. I had visited Torisei a few times a year as a local resident. I was always taken there by a university worker who loved parties, and we would always have sake and chicken sashimi served in a glass. The taste was, well, just average. One summer, I wanted to send a gift to three acquaintances in Tohoku, so I asked for advice on something Kyoto-like to give. They suggested Kasutera from Echigoya if I was going to hand it directly, or sake from Fushimi like Matsunosui from Yamamoto Honke. It was a sake with the words "Used by Urasenke" on it. Since I had tried it before, I went to the shop next to the yakitori restaurant. I planned to send a large isshobin as a gift, so I asked the man in his 50s with an apron at the liquor store if they accepted cards. He immediately replied, "We don't do that kind of thing." I was a customer, asking calmly, but he said it in a condescending and dismissive tone, leaving me speechless and disappointed. So, even though I had cash, I was put off and decided not to buy sake from Fushimi. Later, I was recommended sake from Hata Sake Brewery in the north of Kyoto, which is served at a famous inn in Kyoto. I changed my plan and sent that instead. I received feedback from the recipients saying that they liked it. Customers go out of their way to visit a place, so there should have been a better way to handle the situation. It's a disappointing memory, but words are important and should be treated with care.

During my recent trip to Kyoto, I decided to explore the sake brewery area in Fushimi. I visited a yakitori restaurant that first opened in 1966 in Shijo Kiya-machi, which was the first yakitori specialty shop in Kyoto. Here, you can enjoy a variety of carefully selected sake from the Yamamoto Honke brewery, which was established in the Enpo era. There were so many prestigious sake brands from Fushimi to choose from, it was hard to decide. I started with the hitorozake (single serving of sake) of the sacred brand, which was fresh, refreshing, and fruity. I also ordered a set that included yakitori skewers and a glass of draft beer or raw sake. The skewers were delicious, especially the salt-grilled one. I paired it with a rich and flavorful sake. The chicken salad with Japanese dressing was a nice palate cleanser. I also tried the chicken skin with ponzu sauce, which was light and refreshing. The doteni (chicken and root vegetable stew) cooked in white miso was also recommended with sake. Overall, it was a delightful experience and I also bought some sake and ice cream from the adjacent shop.

Chicken rice set meal 850 yen on weekdays at 12:40. Recently, there has been an increase in tourists, causing a long line, but I was able to enter without waiting during off-peak hours. I entered the restaurant and pressed the number button on the ticket machine at the entrance, then waited in a waiting area for about 2 minutes before being called. I was guided to a counter. The restaurant is quite spacious, even larger than a typical family restaurant, and almost full. A staff member loudly announced, "One person, please come this way!" which was a bit embarrassing, but I didn't mind. I sat down and looked at the menu, debating between the chicken rice and yakitori, but I also wanted to try the fried chicken, so I chose the chicken rice. A female staff member informed me, "Lunch comes with a self-service drink. Use this coin over there." It was a unique system! I took a coin about the size of a 100 yen coin and went to a machine similar to a Seven-Eleven coffee maker to prepare a coffee. There was something called "Torisei Blend," so I decided to try that. I passed the time drinking coffee until my meal arrived in about 5 minutes. It came in a box-like container, and my first thought was that it looked small. It was smaller than I had expected. There was rice at the bottom, topped with chicken and seaweed, with pickled ginger on the side. There were 3 pieces of fried chicken, 2 types of pickles, and a small salad... The miso soup was brought separately. I immediately tried a bite of the chicken from the chicken rice. It was tender and well-seasoned, but... hmm, just average! The fried chicken was relatively small, with 3 pieces. They didn't seem freshly fried, not bad, but just average! The pickles were okay, and the salad was mostly shredded cabbage. Personally, I found the pickled ginger to be delicious. I finished the meal quickly and took a break with a cup of coffee. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed that there were many elderly customers, so perhaps the portions are smaller. The menu had a wide selection of sake, including different types of premium sake. If you enjoy sake, you can have a drink while enjoying your meal here!! I had been wanting to come here for a year, and although it was slightly disappointing, I would recommend it to those who love sake and Japanese sake. Thank you for the meal!

I had a stored sake and a sake brewery bento. The bento had a lot of volume and I enjoyed trying a little bit of everything. The silver barrel containing the stored sake stood out. It was chilled and delicious. The restaurant was popular so there was a wait, but I could wait in a cool waiting area indoors or browse the neighboring shops, so time passed quickly (visited during Golden Week).

It's always crowded but we were able to get in after waiting for about 20 minutes. The chicken here is delicious without any unpleasant smell, and I couldn't stop eating. Today, I had a toast with Daiginjo sake, grilled and fried dishes, and finished with rice cooked in a kettle. It was so much food! I walked back to the shopping street feeling blissful. So happy~

In Fushimi, Kyoto, this restaurant is known for its top-notch yakitori and sake (Yamamoto Honke Shinsei). Located in a historic building over 100 years old, it can accommodate over 200 guests, making it a large-scale establishment. There is always a long line, making it difficult to get in. However, I went during a late lunch time and was able to enter smoothly. I ordered the hidden menu item at the yakitori restaurant, the "Torimen Ramen Set." It was a perfect combination of rich chicken broth with minced chicken rice bowl and a light taste. I look forward to coming back to enjoy sake leisurely. Thank you for the meal.

After getting off at Nakashima Island Station, I visited "Teradaya", where Ryoma Sakamoto was attacked, and the Yellow Cherry Blossom Sake Brewery before my 12:30 reservation. This is a long-established restaurant specializing in bird cuisine run by Yamamoto Honke, a sake brewery founded in the year 1677. With a history of about 350 years in sake brewing and about 60 years in bird cuisine, I was excited to see what it had to offer. I started with a bottle of beer for a toast! The moment of drinking up the small glass in one gulp was irresistible. I tried the "Sacred" sake, which was very dry and well chilled. - The bird liver was melting in my mouth. It's also great as a side dish for sake. - Bird sashimi with yuzu ponzu, plenty of onions and grated red leaves. It was fresh with a wonderful crunch. - Grilled chicken six-piece set (heart, gizzard, skin, minced, chicken leek, grilled chicken). A classic set of six! - Bird ham with good fat. Red wine is good, but chilled white wine seems to go well too. Of course, it's perfect with cold sake! - Crunchy bird with a strong seasoning that goes perfectly with sake. It makes the sake go down smoothly. - Dashimaki tamago with a gentle, very gentle taste. - Vanilla daifuku & strawberry sauce. A sweet lover's delight. It was a time when I could truly enjoy the atmosphere that exudes history, sake and bird cuisine, and the air of Fushimi.

This time, I visited the restaurant just before it opened. There was already a line forming 10 minutes before opening, but since they had many seats, I was able to get in on the first round. I started with the classic dishes like grilled tofu and tsunagi, along with a beer. Then I ordered various other dishes and once I was full, I switched to sake. Both the expensive and cheap sake were delicious. Maybe because they were freshly made? If this restaurant was nearby, I would definitely want to visit for a drink sometime.

I used it for the year-end party and it was fully booked with people waiting. I'm glad I made a reservation. The yakitori restaurant is operated by Yamamoto Honke, a sake brewery, and there are several locations in the city. This was my second time at the main store. The liver and usuzukuri were absolutely delicious! Please try them. It was a delicious year-end party with sake and yakitori! To all the salarymen, thank you for your hard work today. Thank you for the meal ♫

Finally had the opportunity to enjoy some sake and dishes at Torisei Honten, located in the middle of Fushimi Sakagura. Grateful to my colleague who made the reservation. The atmosphere of the sake brewery and the chicken dishes were a delight. Started with a toast with beer as usual! For snacks, we had chicken sashimi, assorted grilled chicken, and chicken on a hot plate. The chicken sashimi was delicious with ponzu sauce. At this point, I wanted to learn more about the history of sake breweries in Japan. The sake on this day paired well with the dishes. I ended up drinking too much and had a difficult time the next day.

I visited the Fushimi Sake Brewery "Sake Festival" and visited four breweries starting from 10 am: Saito Sake Brewery (Eikun), Kitagawa Honke (Fukunosuke), Ozeki, and Yamamoto Honke (Shinsei). By lunchtime, I ended up at the Yamamoto Honke-owned "Torisei Main Store" around 2 pm. The store was renovated from a sake brewery and had a great atmosphere. I can't remember if I ordered the lunch special course (2000 yen) or individual dishes, but I think it was individual dishes. The food was fresh and paired well with the sake. It was incredibly delicious.

Good cost performance, delicious taste for this price! However, it might just be an average sake at this price point. The atmosphere is great though, so I recommend it. If you're alone, you may end up sharing a table with strangers (no counter seating).
