[Impressions (personal thoughts, as the experience can vary depending on the ordered items and individual taste preferences)]
- Visited on Saturday for lunch with a reservation (regarding the pizza)
- The crust was crispy and fragrant, with a moderate chewiness.
- The cheese had good stretchiness and a mild milky flavor.
- The tomato sauce was low in moisture, no oil, and had a mild saltiness.
- The corn topping was somewhat oily.
- The pizza was not served piping hot, possibly due to being brought out with other dishes? The reason was unclear. (The pasta was served hot)
- (Regarding the Japanese-style pasta with sea bream)
- The saltiness was just right, with decent umami, but slightly sweet with a hint of bitterness from karasumi (bottarga).
- The emulsification was average, with a slightly excessive amount of cooking liquid.
- The sea bream was seared sashimi-grade slices, served rare (added later?).
- (Regarding the Red Snow Crab Pasta)
- The garlic-flavored cream sauce had a slightly lumpy texture, with a low creaminess and a slightly gritty sensation.
- The crab was sweet, tender, and delicious.
- (Regarding the Bolognese)
- The beef tendons were very tender and stewed, while the minced meat was coarse and meaty.
- The sauce lacked depth and umami, had a fair amount of spiciness (from chili peppers), and a moderate saltiness.
- The fresh pasta was al dente but had a chewy texture compared to dried pasta.
[Overall Comments]
- The dishes were served hot.
- Both the fresh and dried pasta were thick and cooked al dente.
- The plates were warm.
- The salad was crisp, and the homemade carrot sauce had a simple vinegar flavor and was delicious.
- The zeppole had a chewy dough with red pickled ginger, topped with bonito flakes, resembling takoyaki in flavor. Refills were available.
- While individual dishes were available, it was recommended to order sets as they offered better value according to the staff.
- In addition to the regular menu, there was also a Peperoncino with Shishito Pepper available that day.
[Restaurant Environment]
- The first floor had seating areas on both sides of the entrance, with spacious seating on the left (for groups of three or more, celebrations, etc.) and a more compact setting on the right. There were also seats on the second floor.
- The high ceiling provided an open and airy atmosphere.
- The restrooms on the first floor consisted of one for women and one unisex restroom next to the stairs. It is uncertain if there are restrooms on the second floor.
[Other Information]
- When heading from Arashiyama Station on the Randen Arashiyama Line, turning left immediately after crossing Togetsukyo Bridge, walking along the gravel path by the Katsura River, and turning right towards the day onsen (opposite side of the Katsura River) was a clear route.
- If walking along the main road, continue straight after crossing Togetsukyo Bridge, then take the first small path on the left (may be somewhat inconspicuous) to arrive at the restaurant.
- Credit card payment was accepted.
- Thank you for the meal.
