Christmas 3-day weekend... We decided to have a Western-style lunch for a change, so we made a reservation here. I haven't used Tokyu Hotel much before, so I thought it was time to take another look... We drove there, and the service from the staff during parking and when leaving the parking lot was quite good. Plus point... There is a restaurant on the lobby floor, with options like Japanese cuisine at Tankuma Kitamise, and Chinese cuisine at Hoshigaoka, which seem like good options for the future. I hadn't been there since the renovation, so I was curious to see how it was. We arrived on time for our reservation. We were seated promptly. The atmosphere was not bad. The service was decent, so this place seems like a good option for the future. We chose the Kazahana lunch course, where you can choose 2 main dishes for 3,500 yen (tax included). We were able to choose the roast beef, which is normally a 1,000 yen upgrade, for free, so both my wife and I chose that, and my wife also chose the salmon with sour cream sauce that changes every 10 days, while I chose the red wine flavored low-temperature cooked sea bream. The course included: Appetizer: Smoked duck and Kyoto carrot mousse (served as a salad with balsamic sauce) Soup: Chef's recommended soup (it was minestrone) Bread (brown rice bread and French bread) and butter Main dishes: 1st dish: Grilled salmon with sour cream (served with red turnip, daikon radish, taro, and sweet potato) 1st dish: Red wine flavored low-temperature cooked sea bream (served with potatoes and Chinese cabbage) 2nd dish: Roast beef (served with mashed potatoes and green beans) Dessert: Strawberry mousse, vanilla ice cream, and coffee Overall, the portions were quite generous, and we were quite full. The smoked duck in the appetizer was quite tasty. The soup was okay with various vegetables. The salmon had a refreshing sour cream sauce and was quite delicious. The sea bream had a slightly fishy taste, and the sauce was not the best. The roast beef was a bit disappointing with some toughness, but the mashed potatoes were good. The dessert was the highlight with delicious vanilla ice cream and strawberry mousse with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The coffee was strong and to my liking. Overall, considering the price, the meal was quite a good deal. The roast beef was a letdown, but the changing seafood main dishes seem like a better choice. The delicious dessert saved the meal. They have a reasonably priced New Year buffet, so I might try that next year (since I already have a reservation at ANA for next year). The restaurant at Tokyu Hotel seems like a good option, so I would like to try other places there as well.
