【Kyoto Imperial Palace/Kyoto Konan Palace】@kyoto_rikyuIn August 2022, I visited the newly opened "dashi (broth) theme park" Kyoto Imperial Palace. I ordered the Dashi Maki Gozen and Kama Taki Gohan (1980 yen). You get to taste four types of dashi at the palace - Kyoto sawara, katsuo, and ago, and then choose which one to use for your Dashi Maki. I chose the light and flavorful Imperial Palace dashi and the aromatic Kyoto sawara. For toppings, you can choose from grated daikon, yukari daikon, Kujo negi soy sauce, katsuo mayonnaise, and chicken seseri miso. Since there were two of us, we decided to try all the toppings. After a wait of about 20 minutes, the Gozen arrived - the Dashi Maki was about 1.5 times larger than expected, and it was so fresh and wobbly, with the dashi oozing out. Surprisingly, the Dashi Maki only uses 3 eggs. It was delicious even without toppings, but adding them enhanced the flavors. Lastly, they bring your chosen dashi piping hot. You can mix the rice, Dashi Maki, and dashi together for a fantastic finish. The other dishes we tried were all delicious with gentle flavors. It felt like a mini New Year's celebration. We dined in a private room with a view of the garden, which was amazing. The staff were all very friendly and provided excellent service. We even bought some dashi as a souvenir on our way out. It truly was a dashi theme park that was more enjoyable than an amusement park. It's recommended to make a reservation in advance, even on weekdays. They also offer Dashi Maki bento for takeout, which you can enjoy in the garden. I think it would be great in this season. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal! #KyotoImperialPalace #KyotoImperialPalaceDashiMaki #KyotoLunch #KyotoGourmet #DashiMakiTamago #DashiThemePark #KyotoDashiMaki #Dashi #kyoto #kyotogram

My wife made a reservation at this restaurant in Kyoto with a calm atmosphere. We arrived a little early, but they kindly accommodated us. The restaurant is known for its focus on dashi, and we were able to taste 4 different types of dashi. I chose the Sawara fish while my wife chose the Ago fish. After a 10-minute wait, our dishes, including the dashimaki, arrived and they were all delicious. We even finished the last dish, which was a dashi-soaked dish, with ease. If you can get a reservation, I think guests from other prefectures will also enjoy the Kyoto atmosphere that this restaurant offers.

It is recommended to make a reservation for the Dashi Maki Gohan and Kama Taki Gohan set for ¥2000, but you can also walk in and they will seat you based on timing. There are table seats and private rooms available, and there is also a souvenir shop where you can enjoy your wait time! When you sit down at the table, they will light the fire for the Kama Gohan. You can try 4 different types of dashi broth and choose your favorite to make the Dashi Maki Gohan. It is recommended to have the egg roll rather than drinking the broth directly, as it gives a milder taste. The most popular dashi broth is the Kyoto Sawara broth. For the Dashi Maki Gohan, you can choose from about 6 different toppings and select 3. Options include Yuzu radish, grated radish with miso soy sauce, and chicken tenderloin with miso. Finally, you can enjoy ochazuke with the broth you selected.

I chose my favorite broth and had a delicious dashimaki made with it. It was exciting to choose the broth, and the final result was perfect. The portion size was quite large, but I was able to finish it all. There were various side dishes included, so I was satisfied. The rice was cooked right in front of me and served freshly cooked, which added to the enjoyment of the meal.

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant around lunchtime. I watched as the rice was cooked at my table, and I tried four different types of dashi broth to find my favorite. I chose the dashi made with mackerel for my dashimaki tamago. It was a unique and enjoyable experience to compare the different broths using my senses of sight, taste, and smell. The variety of side dishes available was also impressive. You can choose three out of five side dishes to accompany your tamagoyaki, making it a great option for sharing with friends. I accidentally received a cold dashi broth that was different from the one I chose for my tamagoyaki, so I got to enjoy two different broths, which was a pleasant surprise. They also offer a seasonal cold dashi option in the summer. Overall, the experience was delightful, and the dashi drink they introduced recently was also delicious with its vibrant appearance and refreshing texture.

I went to a dashi-themed amusement park to eat dashimaki. As soon as I got off at the Kyoto Minami IC, I headed to this popular restaurant that I saw on social media. I called ahead to see if I could make a reservation, but they were already fully booked for advance reservations. They mentioned that they had same-day availability on a first-come, first-served basis. I was prepared to wait, but since it was a weekday, I arrived at 12:40 and was able to be seated by 1:00. The parking lot was spacious and convenient, making it a nice stop for souvenirs on the way back from sightseeing. Inside the restaurant, there was a long row of dashi cans. I recognized these cans from somewhere! My teacher at the Satomi Workshop (a bread and cake making class) who is from Kyoto, showed me these cans before, so I knew this was the place! I didn't do much research before going, but this place was full of playful elements. They started by serving four types of dashi. You could choose your favorite dashi to make dashimaki tamago. They even had a dashi tasting, which was a first for me. The flavors were all delicious, but the dashi called "Rikyu" had the softest and most gentle taste, so I chose that for my dashimaki. The menu was mainly dashimaki tamago set meal and kama-taki rice for 2200 yen (tax included). You could choose 3 out of 5 types of condiments. I highly recommend choosing the Kujyo negi! The chicken seseri miso salad was also very tasty. The table was filled with various side dishes and the set meal. The dashimaki tamago was huge. It was incredibly delicious! What is this?! It's amazing! The dashi flavor is so rich! Be careful, it's hot! The kama-taki rice was delicious, and the burnt rice was also tasty. They recommended trying it with cold dashi on top of the dashimaki tamago, which was also good. The staff were all extremely friendly and had great customer service. They were all smiling, and you could tell that they were well-trained. It's not just about the taste, everything is top-notch... that's what makes a perfect restaurant. I want to try all 4 types of dashi next time. Maybe I'll try the ago dashi. It was so delicious, and I was so full, all for 2200 yen. Isn't that a great deal? This place definitely deserves a perfect score! Highly recommended! If you have time, come visit Princess Cinderella's blog, Instagram, and YouTube too.

Since its opening in July 2022, this restaurant has been difficult to make reservations at and I haven't been able to go. I decided to try my luck for a late lunch on a scorching hot weekend and managed to get in without a reservation. We started by sampling four types of broth and chose the broth for the rolled omelette. (I chose Kyoto-style bonito, my husband chose bonito.) After about 15 minutes, the rolled omelette set was served. The rolled omelette was really delicious, and I felt like I could easily eat a whole bowl of rice with just the rolled omelette. Perhaps because it was a late lunch, the part-time staff's service was disappointing. Even though we had chosen the broth for the rolled omelette, it was not communicated to us and we couldn't find it, but a kind customer next to us kindly pointed it out. The rolled omelette was really delicious!

I finally was able to visit this shop after facing difficulties with reservations. Reservations open on the 15th of each month for the following month, and it's hard to get the desired time slot. I made a reservation online on the 15th, but still couldn't get my preferred time. I ended up getting a slightly later time slot starting at 1 pm. I was unsure which type of dashi to choose for the tamagoyaki, but when I finally tried it, I couldn't distinguish between the bonito and fish broth, according to my taste buds. The portion size was generous, and I ended up feeling very full. I wanted to order a drink at the end, but I couldn't manage it. Laugh out loud.

First, you can sample four types of dashi broth. Then, they make dashimaki tamago using your favorite dashi broth. I had mine made with Kyoto sawara dashi, and it was delicious with the flavor of the broth seeping through. You can also choose up to three toppings from a selection of five. The portion size is good, so if you plan on doing some food hopping in the afternoon, be careful not to eat too much.

On this day in June 2023, I was planning to visit a shrine in Kyoto, so I looked for a place where I could have breakfast on the way. Although it wasn't exactly a morning set, I decided to try this restaurant that opens at 10:00 and serves rolled omelette sets. I couldn't make a reservation online since I decided the day before, so I waited for the board to come out in the morning to write my name. It was convenient to have a parking lot! Luckily, I was able to write my name second and got to have my meal during the first round. While waiting, I explored the neighboring Jonan-gu Shrine. I returned to the restaurant just before 10:00 and entered. We were seated in order of reservations since there weren't many seats, and it quickly filled up. First, we sampled four types of broth before deciding which one to use for the rolled omelette. I chose the most flavorful "Kyoto sawara broth". As the rice cooked in the pot, we waited patiently. Just before it was done, a plate with the rolled omelette and appetizers arrived. It was quite a lavish breakfast for the morning (^◇^;) The rolled omelette was delicately seasoned and very delicious. Finally, I followed the recommendation to save a piece for ochazuke, and I was completely satisfied. It was a luxurious breakfast for 1980 yen, but I was very happy. Thank you for the feast.

The restaurant offers only two options: Dashi-maki set meal and Kama-kiri rice. I tried the various types of dashi - bonito, flying fish, and saury, and chose the saury dashi. The dashi-maki was delicious with a strong dashi flavor, and the other dishes in the set meal were also elegant and tasty. The rice was also delicious! I definitely want to visit this restaurant again.

I called the day before to make a reservation, but all the slots were full, so I decided to try my luck with a same-day reservation. I arrived at 11:30 and was told that a seat would be available at 12:30, so I decided to wait. Luckily, I was actually seated at 12:00. The lunch consisted of one menu, with steaming hot pot rice cooked right in front of you, which was very enjoyable. The freshly cooked rice was shiny and fluffy, absolutely delicious! The dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette) was also a special treat, as they offered a tasting of different broths and allowed you to choose your favorite to make the omelette with. You could also choose from 5 different condiments to enjoy with the tamago. The large dashimaki tamago was delicious until the last bite, with a variety of flavors. To finish off the meal, you could enjoy ochazuke (rice in tea) with the chosen broth, which was simply delightful. The food was incredibly delicious, colorful, and beautiful. Overall, a perfect score. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

It's a restaurant with difficulty in making reservations. They offer a menu with only one option, which includes dashimaki tamago and kettle-cooked rice. The dashi for the dashimaki tamago is carefully selected. The rice cooked in the kettle pairs well with it. We finished the meal with dashi chazuke, which was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The cherry blossom-shaped nama-fu is so cute! It makes a big difference having it or not! The Dashi-maki has a gentle flavor (*´˘`*)♡ The beef soboro and eel are rich, which is just right. Dashi maki set meal and kettle-cooked rice for 1980 yen. You can choose from 4 different types of dashi, and I chose the Kyoto sawara dashi. You can also choose 3 out of 5 types of condiments, such as yukari daikon radish, grated ninejo leek, soy sauce chicken seseri with miso dressing. The restaurant, which became very popular in August 2020, does not accept reservations on weekends. I arrived around 10:20 am after they opened at 10 am, and was told to come back at 11:30 am. After enjoying the Jounangu Shrine, I returned and was seated around 11:30 am. At that point, there was a 2-hour wait. The restaurant had a beautiful palace-like atmosphere, with a souvenir shop on the left side (where you can buy dashi, etc.) and the dining area on the right side. There were only a few tables, mostly for 2 or 4 people. There was only one menu item, as the rice takes time to cook. A hot kettle was served first, followed by 4 types of dashi for tasting and selecting. I chose the warm and fluffy dashi roll, leaving about one-fifth of it, and was instructed to make ochazuke with the warm dashi I had chosen. It was a very enjoyable experience.

You can choose a flavorful dashi to use in the dashimaki tamago after tasting it. Each person's rice is cooked in their own small pot, making it very delicious. Finally, turning the dashimaki tamago into dashi chazuke, similar to hitsumabushi, was a clever and incredibly delicious touch.

High Cost-Performance Morning at Kyoto Rikyu Odashi and Dashimaki ♡ Kyoto ❤︎ Takeda ♡ my pick! ・ Dashimaki Gohan and Kamadaki Rice ♡ Kyoto Minami Inter near Jonangu Shrine "Kyoto Rikyu - Odashi and Dashimaki" a theme park for dashi opened on August 8, 2022! In a spacious area renovated from a Japanese house, there is a space where you can learn about the charm of dashi and Japanese recipes. Take-out options include dashi packs and bento boxes. There is also an eat-in space where you can enjoy dashi rolls and kamadaki rice bowls. It is a new proposal-type dashi specialty store where you can experience various dashi cultures. I went to have breakfast at such a store. It is located along National Route 1, just after crossing Kyoto Minami Inter in the direction of Osaka, you can see the store in the parking lot of "Mine Toranosuke". It is a bit far from Takeda Station, so I took a taxi there, and it was a quick ride. The operating company is the same as "Mine Toranosuke". A large Japanese house has been renovated and rebuilt. I arrived 10 minutes before opening, but there was already a waiting line of 2 groups! In addition, there were 2 reserved groups before that, so I barely made it in for the first round. When you enter the entrance, you can feel the warmth of the wood in a stylish space. In the back kitchen, you can see artisans rolling dashimaki. There is also an eat-in space at the back of the store where you can enjoy freshly made dashimaki and kamadaki rice bowls. The eat-in space has a total of 24 seats including table seats and private rooms, creating a refined and calm atmosphere. By the way, if you don't come for the first round, you will inevitably have to wait for about 2 hours for the second round... so you will end up having lunch. When you sit down, there is only one menu item, "Dashimaki Gohan and Kamadaki Rice". First, start with a tasting of 4 types of dashi. The standard Rikyu Odashi, Kyoto Sawara, Agodashi, and Katsuo dashi. When you compare the dashi, the differences are clear. They are all delicious, but the umami and flavors are completely different. You can choose your favorite dashi, and it will be used for the dashimaki. This time, I chose Rikyu Odashi. While tasting the dashi, the rice is cooked bubbling away. When the rice is ready, the rice bowl is served! The fluffy dashimaki with plenty of dashi is exquisite. It is satisfying until the end with plenty of dashi. The freshly cooked rice comes with side dishes such as grilled mackerel, shrimp, duck roast, terrine, corn, and eel vinegar. They are all cooked using dashi, so they are rich in flavor. You can also enjoy the rice as dashi ochazuke at the end. You can choose 3 out of 5 condiments for the dashimaki. This time, I chose grated daikon, Kujo green onion soy sauce, and katsuomayo. The dashimaki is delicious on its own, but with condiments, it offers a different flavor. It was truly a dashi theme park that resonated with the five senses from the perspectives of aroma, flavor, umami, and learning. Name: Kyoto Rikyu Odashi and Dashimaki Reservation: Available Access: 20 minutes walk from Takeda Station Kyoto City Bus "Jonangu"

It was a calm and Kyoto-like building, with a peaceful atmosphere. We arrived around 11 am for lunch, which felt a bit early, but it turned out to be the right decision as those who came after 12 pm had to wait for over an hour. The menu consisted of one dish, the Dashimaki Tamago set, where you could choose one of four types of dashi for the dashimaki tamago and three out of five condiments. The hot rice and the piping hot dashimaki tamago were simple but incredibly flavorful, and we left feeling very satisfied.
