I decided to go to Arashiyama, and there were many Japanese restaurants to choose from, but I chose this place. It seemed like a ryokan maybe? I was taken to a spacious private room in a large mansion. The view from the window was lovely, and I enjoyed a delicious meal. I'm curious about other restaurants, but I want to come back here to eat again. ✨

I used it for lunch. It's delicious, the service is good, and the atmosphere is not bad, but the portion size is a bit small for the price, so the cost performance is not great.

I fell in love with Kyoto♡ First, here... I unexpectedly had lunch at Arashiyama for the first time. This place turned out to be an inn, and not knowing that, I visited. It's truly a beautiful place with a scenic view♪ You can enjoy a leisurely lunch while gazing at the meticulously maintained garden⭐︎ The famous Arashiyama seasonal bento box for ¥3900 includes sashimi, fried dish, a two-tiered bento box, rice, miso soup, pickles, and one dessert. Each dish is truly Kyoto-like, elegant, delicious, and beautiful⭐︎ The sashimi includes summer pike conger too! The fried dish is also delicious. Just as I was starting to wonder if this was a bento box or a kaiseki meal, the two-tiered bento box arrived! Opening the grand two-tiered bento box reveals four small side dishes, simmered dish, grilled dish, and more❣️ There's even water shield in it—my favorite♪ There's chawanmushi and rolled omelette too! The lantern tomato was cooked deliciously⭐︎ The presentation is also lovely! The review itself is elegant✴︎ There are various side dishes and pickles too, which is delightful♪ If you're still hungry, you can ask for seconds! The dessert at the end is a watermelon and yogurt jelly? Mousse? Something like that! Watermelon and yogurt together... but this was so refreshing and delicious❣️ Everything was perfect until the end! I was able to enjoy a relaxing lunch, and the staff, the landlady, everyone, their service was truly impeccable, and I had a happy time in Arashiyama⭐︎ If I have the chance, I would love to stay at this ryokan next time⭐︎ Thank you for the wonderful meal❗️

We used this ryokan for a day trip with our family in Kyoto. Located near Arashiyama Station, it is a quiet and impressive inn tucked away from the bustling streets. You can enjoy your meal in a spacious private room while overlooking a beautiful garden. The dishes were all superb, served at the perfect temperature. The eel was expertly prepared, tender and melted in the mouth. The simmered eggplant had an elegant flavor. Everything was so delicious that it made you want to sigh in satisfaction. The mango dessert was the most rich and flavorful mango I have ever tasted. The service was also excellent, living up to the high ratings on food review websites and hotel awards. As we left, I regretted wearing slightly dirty shoes when I saw them neatly lined up at the entrance.

I used this place for a cormorant fishing viewing experience. We had dinner here and then went on a boat to watch cormorant fishing. There was also a plan where you could have dinner on the boat, but I preferred to have a relaxed meal at the restaurant. I thought it was a traditional Japanese restaurant, but it turned out to be a ryokan, which is a type of traditional Japanese inn. They also offered dining-only options. We were shown to a private room, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our meal. The seasonal and elegant dishes had a summer Kyoto vibe, which was great.

I used this restaurant when I went to Arashiyama. It is located in a great location close to Togetsukyo Bridge. The entrance is impressive with a Kyoto-like appearance and the building is beautiful. We had lunch in a tatami room after taking off our shoes. The staff at the front desk were very kind and made us feel comfortable. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch while overlooking the Japanese garden. We had a 3900 yen course meal. The dishes were like Kyoto cuisine, each one carefully prepared and visually appealing. I wish the dishes were served a little slower and the staff could have explained them more politely. I think it's a great deal to have this atmosphere and price in Arashiyama. I believe this restaurant would be well received if recommended to acquaintances.

Therefore, is the "word-of-mouth target" free invitation? It was easy because I paid the money but didn't say anything (my sister was the one who spoke). When choosing accommodation, should you experience the city of Kyoto in the city center, or relax around the accommodation a little further away? Sightseeing can be done within wheelchair range, with rooms with open-air baths, and a taxi ride to Arashiyama, which is not outrageously far. I decided to go to Arashiyama. If possible, I wanted to put my mother to sleep and then take the Randen to that store in Shijo Omiya... Whenever I came to Kyoto, I always stayed at a hotel. Once you check in, you can wander around freely until late at night, but this time coming with my mother, I have some thoughts... In the email exchange with the inn, the following requests were all happily accepted: - I want the food to be cut into large pieces - I want a chair for the bath in the guest room - I want a low chair in the room However, since all the hallways in the building are tatami mats, wheelchair use is not possible. For the sake of aesthetics, and my own interpretation, when I saw that there were no handrails, I supported my mother's arms on both sides and walked to the room at the far end of the building like a rehabilitation exercise. Oh, and there were no handrails in the check-in toilet either. Nowadays, even public toilets have handrails in multipurpose toilets, but well, I resolved it by helping my daughter. The waitress was a young person, but very thoughtful. As soon as we were shown to the room, she asked if she should lay out the futon because my mother must be tired. The meals are basically served in the room, but they offered to prepare a table seat in another room, but considering the distance to walk, we declined and opted for room service. The meal took a long time - about 3 hours. It started at 6:30 pm and was like a kaiseki meal. Appetizer, soup, simmered dish, rice dish, grilled dish, side dish, fried dish, vinegar dish. By this point, you're already full, right? Then it's the rice dish, on this day it was bamboo shoot rice due to the season... Impossible! I managed to finish the first bowl that the waitress served, but when I saw that a lot was left in the pot, they offered to make onigiri in the kitchen for a late-night snack. I accepted, but could I eat it? I'm not a high-class person, so I have to eat what I paid for. I soaked in the large public bath, indoor bath, and the highlight outdoor bath overlooking the Katsura River in succession until my stomach settled, and then I ate the onigiri made from bamboo shoot rice. It was a luxurious trip, the first and last... I should have stayed at the inn and relaxed more, but it was a good memory. In the two nights and three days, the only meat dish was black-haired wagyu beef with burdock roll. I should have bought some salami at the convenience store... Is this a punishment? This is only for the first night... I'm sorry for the long read, so that's it for the second night ===========

SUNDAY

I visited the restaurant in early December, just after the autumn leaves had finished falling. I made a reservation and arrived around 1 pm on a weekday, so the seating was only about half full with wide spacing between tables. Since it was a cold day, I was tempted by the course with hot tofu, but I was worried I wouldn't finish it in the limited time of one hour. So, I ordered the seasonal bento box for 3900 yen and a kids menu for my 5-year-old daughter for around 2500 yen. The bento box started with sashimi and had a variety of dishes like grilled items, tempura, jelly salad, rolled omelette, simmered dishes, and more, beautifully presented with about 20 different items. It was delicious and visually appealing. My daughter's kids menu included sashimi, hamburger, shrimp fry, rice, chestnut somen noodles, and dessert, making it a satisfying meal for her. We enjoyed a quiet and elegant time until a noisy Asian group started in a separate room. The staff were very kind and accommodating, especially towards families with children. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the young waitresses were efficient and quick in their service. I would love to visit this restaurant again if I have the chance.

It was very enjoyable to dine while admiring the garden, with a wide variety of dishes that allowed us to feel the season. The only downside was that credit cards could not be used for amounts less than 10,000 yen. The cost-performance ratio and service were great, but that was disappointing.

Arashiyama... I visited after a long time. It's been about 5 years since I stayed overnight (^○^) This time, I stayed at this place in Arashiyama. It had an indoor and outdoor bath, so the price was a bit high, but the baths were very nice and relaxing. For dinner, we had a kaiseki meal, and of course, it was served in our room. The pace of serving the dishes was great, and the food was beautifully presented, although it was lightly seasoned. The wooden box with sashimi was a nice touch. I felt a bit unsatisfied because there was no meat, but the staff was amazing. The young and petite staff member was so friendly, and it was clear that she loved her job. I think the presence of staff like her is crucial in a ryokan. Even though it was a bit pricey, I would love to stay here again, and I would even request the same staff member (laughs). For breakfast, we could choose between white rice, okayu, or medicinal rice porridge. Both of us chose the medicinal rice porridge, which was easy on the stomach in the morning, and we finished it all. Even when we were leaving, they waved goodbye to us multiple times. They waved their hands enthusiastically each time (^O^). It may not be a detailed review of the food, but it was a great ryokan experience. ☆

On the final day in Kyoto, before catching the evening Shinkansen, I enjoyed the autumn leaves at Hogonin in Arashiyama, and took a stroll around Arashiyama before my lunch reservation. Unfortunately, it was a cold and rainy day, and I ended up getting very cold while walking. So, I arrived at Arashiyama earlier than my reservation and decided to rest at Arashiyama. Arashiyama is a ryokan where you can stop by just for a meal. It was still early, so there were no other customers around, and I was able to warm up quietly while admiring the garden. I ordered the lunch set of Yudofu (tofu hot pot) and the seasonal bento. The Yudofu dishes had a variety of tofu types, each delicious in its own way. And the Yudofu itself was so tasty - unlike the tofu in the U.S.! The meal also came with rice, soup, and pickles. The seasonal bento was beautifully presented, with the same contents as the Yudofu set. It also came with rice, soup, and pickles. For dessert, I had banana Bavarian cream, which sounded strange at first but turned out to be delicious! The combination of red bean paste and banana was surprisingly good. I was able to enjoy the meal slowly and left satisfied.

The hot days have been continuing, but the mornings and evenings have started to cool down significantly. Finally feeling better, I went on a trip to Kyoto as planned for the summer. Kyoto was still quite hot though. Our first destination was Arashiyama for some business related to my mother's brother (my uncle) who had passed away. For lunch, we had made a reservation at "Ryotei Aratsuki," a lovely restaurant. As we entered, we were greeted by a maid and stepped into a serene space. We were led to our dining area, which had a beautiful garden where you could enjoy the changing seasons with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall. We ordered the "Seasonal Bento" for our meal. To honor my uncle, we also ordered a sake called "Aratsuki" (Junmai Ginjo), which was the original sake of this ryotei. Looking at the label, it seemed to be made by Sasaki Soma's family brewery, Sasaki Sake Brewery. The sake was fruity, smooth, and easy to drink, complementing the meal perfectly. The bento box had two tiers, resembling a lantern, with colorful dishes inside. It was a great experience to enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine in such a thoughtful presentation. The ingredients were skillfully used, with dishes like conger eel, saury, matsutake mushrooms, and other seasonal delicacies. The presentation was also impressive, such as the yam made to look like a rabbit and vinegared dish made with agar and seaweed. The edamame tofu was incredibly smooth and had a great texture. The pickles were varied and stimulating to all senses, typical of a renowned ryotei in Kyoto. The dashi broth was excellent, and even the miso soup was easy to drink. The rice was well-cooked, and the dessert was served in a chilled dish with a subtle sweetness. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff providing a seamless dining experience. I was so satisfied that I felt like staying overnight next time. The lunch bento was reasonably priced, making it a highly recommended ryotei. I suggest making a reservation before visiting.

While exploring Arashiyama, I was walking along the Katsura River, contemplating where to have lunch as it approached noon. I noticed a large gate and thought it would be nice to have a meal there. I casually looked at the menu and was invited in with a simple "Would you like to come in?". With a little courage, I decided to give it a try. From the moment I entered until I sat down, I was impressed by the attentive service and delicious Kyoto cuisine. Unlike a traditional kaiseki meal where a waitress is constantly by your side, this was a bento-style meal with a starter, followed by a layered dish, rice, pickles, and soup. After that, I was left to enjoy a relaxing and undisturbed time. The timing for tea and dessert was also perfect.

It had been a while since I visited Arashiyama. Choosing where to have lunch is crucial. After researching various options, I was looking forward to this place. However, the neighboring table had a family of over 10 celebrating something. The children were understandable, but a young father was speaking loudly as if in a pub. Despite a gentle reminder, his voice kept getting louder, talking about things like "eat the hamburger" and so on, creating a noisy atmosphere (*_*). I tried to focus on the food and ordered the seasonal bento box with two tiers. The presentation and taste were as expected. However, just when I thought my leisurely lunch in Arashiyama was ruined, the hostess apologized and suggested, "Would you like to have dessert in our special room for overnight guests?" We moved to a room with an open-air bath overlooking the Katsura River and Togetsukyo Bridge. The room was quiet and lovely, with bellflowers arranged in the alcove. The hostess's thoughtful gesture towards unexpected trouble caused by other customers was truly impressive. It was definitely worth coming here. The dessert was elegant and delicious.

The impressive entrance of the high-class hotel made it feel a bit intimidating, but we were drawn in by the small menu at the entrance (the neighboring ultra-luxurious restaurant, of course, had no menu). My friend and I decided to drop in without a reservation. It turned out to be a great decision! The food was excellent, and the staff were very attentive. The amenities in the bathroom also reflected the luxury of the hotel. Overall, I think we got more than our money's worth for the lunch we enjoyed. I would love to stay overnight next time. It's true that there were only two other guests when we visited, but I believe that's what made our time there so luxurious.
