In front of Kyoto Station stands Kyoto Tower. At the base of the tower, you can enter through the entrance and take an escalator down to the underground floor. Old Japanese poems have been translated into modern language and written on the walls and floors. There are many tenants on this floor, and you can enjoy a meal in a food court-like setting. Before leaving Kyoto on the Shinkansen, I decided to have a drink. Since I was in Kyoto, why not have some tea... Oh, tea beer! I watched as they carefully prepared the matcha with a tea whisk. It was delicious and easy to drink without any strong flavors!

Matcha beer. 700 yen. It was decent. I think I might prefer yuzu flavor? The cashier was very polite and had a lovely smile, which made me go back for a refill. I was able to enjoy drinking it comfortably. I would like to come back again.

Although there were other alcoholic drinks and snacks available, we chose to focus on this one. It took about 7-8 minutes for our order to be ready. The drink is made by whisking matcha with a tea whisk and then mixing it with beer. The foam on top even has matcha powder sprinkled on it, giving it a green color. It's a unique drink that might be a bit over the top but visually appealing. Overall, it was an interesting experience at the food court.

My friend had a Uji matcha cocktail. We shared some prosciutto and cheese. I'm not a big eater when drinking, so we ended up enjoying our drinks while discussing our thoughts on a play. There are many options at Kyoto Station building and Porta, but this place is quiet and beautiful, making it a hidden gem. I'll definitely come back for a solo drink next time!
