Day 2 in Amanohashidate. Leaving the accommodation, we walked on foot towards the opposite bank of Amanohashidate. We crossed the rotating bridge we saw the day before, which is less than 4km in distance. It took us less than an hour. After exploring the opposite bank, we visited the Amanohashidate Winery, where they produce Amanohashidate wine using 100% domestically grown grapes. The winery is surrounded by vineyards that are self-cultivated (although there were no grapes at this time). The entrance lighting is shaped like grapes, which is quite interesting. In addition to wine sales, you can also visit the bottling room and underground cellar, and enjoy dishes made with local products at the restaurant on the second floor. Due to time constraints and our upcoming itinerary, we only did a wine tasting. Unfortunately, the photos came out blurry due to a camera setting mistake. We tried the Kodama barrel-aged white wine, which is mainly made from Kyoto-grown Verdelho grapes, with a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Clairette Blanche, and Sauvignon Blanc. The taste was as described on the website, with a rich flavor. Despite the limited time, we enjoyed a glass of wine. We look forward to coming back and leisurely enjoying the wine next time. Thank you for the meal.

White wine soft serve ice cream for exactly 200 yen. I found this soft serve ice cream at just the right time when I wanted some. It was cheaper than usual and had a unique flavor of white wine, which was a nice touch. Additionally, they offered wine tasting for only 100 yen, although I couldn't partake as I was the designated driver.

You can try 4 types of wine for 100 yen and enjoy white wine soft serve ice cream for 200 yen. I bought white wine after getting advice from a friendly older female staff member. The wine turned out to be really good. It's a bit far from Amanohashidate, but definitely worth a visit!

I visited the Amanohashidate Winery along National Route 178 and ordered the white wine soft serve ice cream since I was on a bike and couldn't drink wine. It was light and refreshing like sherbet, and really delicious. Next to the shop, there were grape vineyards stretching out. Check out my blog post for more details! (Link provided)

I visited the buffet restaurant after finding out it had reopened on their website, maybe because I had a desire to eat a lot of vegetables after a long journey starting from Sunday. It seems that the salad uses local vegetables. The most delicious dish was the mapo tofu. I ended up getting a second helping. Thank you for the meal.

The view is fantastic, overlooking the Aso Sea and grape fields. The buffet costs 1700 yen for adults on weekdays, and there were a few customers. They offer unique dishes like Marlti, rice flour bread, chicken and tomato wine stew, wine jelly, and wine cake. I also tried the Fedarota (200 yen per cup) they sell on the 1st floor. It had a pink grapefruit-like color and was slightly sparkling with a low alcohol content. It was sweet like grape juice with a rich flavor, easy to drink and quite delicious.

On the 4th activity of the day on October 23, I visited the 28th temple, Naritadera, in Miyazu City, Kyoto, as part of my mini pilgrimage to the 33 Kannon temples in Western Japan. I made it just in time to receive a temple stamp. Despite the slightly cloudy weather, I enjoyed the panoramic view of Amanohashidate from the observation deck on Naritayama. With today's pilgrimage complete, I descended to the base of the mountain. As soon as I reached Route 178, I found a charming shop called Amanohashidate Winery. They sell wine and also have a cafe and restaurant. The restaurant is located on the second floor and offers a nice view of Amanohashidate. I decided to try their white wine soft serve ice cream, which was surprisingly delightful. The soft serve had a smooth and creamy texture with a subtle hint of white wine, making it a unique and enjoyable treat. Now, I wonder what I should do next. (Visited on 10/23/2021)

This is a wine that is still fermenting in the process of making grape wine. I remembered being told by a grape farmer before that if you crush the harvested grapes in a bucket and leave them as they are, they will ferment and turn into grape wine. There is a grape-producing area in Kashiwara near Osaka, but it requires a lot of effort because the grapes are grown on sloping mountain land. When I asked where they grow the grapes at this winery located along the national highway, they told me they grow them in flat areas around the winery. You can get 100cc of Federroter for 200 yen. Federweisser is not available. It is a lightly carbonated juice. By the way, in Germany, you can get 1000cc for 200 yen.

This is a restaurant located in a winery in Amanohashidate. The second floor of the building is the restaurant, called "Vineyard Restaurant", and the first floor sells vegetables, among other things. The interior is open and spacious with high ceilings. There is a terrace outside where you can see the vineyard. The interior design was done by Kyoto-born Washi paper designer Eriko Horiki. I, along with gentlemen from Amanohashidate, a man with a strong physique in the past, and a Kansai dialect missionary, chose the herb-grilled Tanba Akadori chicken from the three main dishes available. Originally it was a buffet style, but due to COVID-19 measures, it was served on a plate. The drinks are self-service. I was served a Marti (dried grape skin and seeds), which is like a light grape juice. The meal included salad, soup, the main dish, rice or bread, and pancakes. The chicken skin was crispy and juicy, and went well with the rice. Although I wasn't very hungry as it was a late breakfast, I finished the meal and left the restaurant feeling full.

In Amanohashidate, there is a nationally famous ryokan called "Wine and Inn Chitose". This long-established ryokan has been around since the middle of the Edo period and was renovated in 2000. It is a hot spring inn where you can enjoy wine. The location of this ryokan is excellent, overlooking the famous Amanohashidate. Although it is expensive, it is always fully booked. The owner of this ryokan is actually a winemaker. Located right by the coast of Miyazu Bay, on the opposite side of the road from Ine, you can see grape vineyards. They are particular about using grapes from Tango, but now also use grapes from Hokkaido to ensure an adequate supply. The elegant building has a wine-related shop on the left and a brewing facility visible through the glass on the right. On the second floor, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal while gazing at the beautiful bay view. This time, since I rented a car, I purchased a set of three mini bottles to drink at the hotel. I knew it would be sweet, but I can't quite get used to Japanese wines being mostly sweet. Red wines develop from bitterness to astringency, which pairs well with (meat) dishes. Even with white wines, the balance of minerality and acidity is key. That's the real pleasure. Japanese wines are challenging. Niagara (white) - sweet, Rosé - slightly sweet, Campbell Early (red) - sweet. Mini bottle set of 3 - boxed, 1260 yen. Salt for red wine, marlti.

On the way to Ine no Funaya, we happened to find this restaurant and had lunch there. The spacious second-floor restaurant offered plate lunches instead of buffets during the pandemic. It was a great deal with free drinks included. The limited chicken set was especially delicious. We also bought some wine as a souvenir after the meal. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

After strolling around Ine Town, we hopped on a bus to head to Amanohashidate Winery. The second purpose of this short trip was to visit this winery. It took about 30 minutes by bus from Ine Town. There are dining options available, but our main goal was to purchase wine, so we headed to the souvenir shop area. There is a fee for tasting, but it's quite affordable, ranging from 100 to 200 yen per glass. I noticed this when I bought Kawauchi wine before, but I found that Japanese red wines tend to be a bit lighter for my taste. I tried the red wines here as well and had a similar impression, so I decided to purchase a white wine instead. I bought the following wines: "Toyosaka Dry 720ml (1,437 yen excluding tax)" and "Akane Sparkling 720ml (1,637 yen excluding tax)." Toyosaka is made from a grape variety called Seyval. I enjoyed it with seafood dishes as it was very refreshing and easy to drink. It had a mild aroma and a good aftertaste. I also purchased the sparkling wine that caught my eye. With an alcohol content of 10%, it was also easy to drink. When poured into a glass, it had a beautiful pale pink color and a crisp taste.

"Western 33 Temple Sweets Pilgrimage." I am walking around eating the famous sweets from each temple. The 28th temple is Naraso-ji. Today, I took the Kyoto Tango Railway to Amanohashidate. Naraso-ji had a spacious and majestic temple grounds. It was quite impressive!! On the way back, I walked down the road and headed to a winery near Naraso-ji that sells "pilgrimage sweets". - Amanohashidate Winery They seem to be a winery that uses grapes grown in their own vineyard. Their fruity white wine made from 100% fresh grapes called "Niagara" seems to be particularly popular. The winery had a buffet restaurant and a space for selling sweets made with wine. They also offer winery tours and tastings. I bought the desired sweets here. - White Wine Cake It seems to be a cake made with the popular white wine "Niagara". I decided to try it right away. From the fluffy sponge, a faint fruity grape scent wafted. The alcohol from the wine had evaporated, making it a gentle and delicious cake. It seems like a great souvenir from Amanohashidate!! I enjoyed it.

I revisited the restaurant "Amanohashidate Winery" located near the famous Amanohashidate in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Just like last time, they offer a buffet style dining experience. Due to the proximity to a tourist spot, there were large tour buses and we had to wait for about 45 minutes before being seated. The menu mainly features dishes made with locally sourced vegetables and red wine, such as red wine stew and wine salt. Additionally, they had a special menu item for Father's Day - meat-wrapped rice balls. It was a bit unusual, but everything was delicious overall.

I visited the "Hashidate Winery" near Amanohashidate in Miyazu City, Tango, Kyoto. This place is a winery with a wine production facility, souvenir shop, and bakery. You can enjoy wine tasting, tour the wine cellar, and dine at the restaurant located on the second floor with a view of Amanohashidate. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. The meal is a buffet style, priced at 1630 yen for adults on weekends, which is a bit on the higher side for lunch in this area. On weekdays, it's around 1300 yen, so it might be better to visit then. The buffet mainly consists of local vegetables, but there are also dishes related to wine such as chicken stewed in red wine, marinated fried chicken, red wine salt, and wine-infused tea. They also focus on rice flour, offering rice flour bread and curry. Everything was delicious, although not exceptionally outstanding. It's nice to have a leisurely meal while enjoying the view of Amanohashidate. Wine is available at an additional cost, and I ordered a dry red wine which was served at room temperature and tasted delicious.

I had planned to go to Amanohashidate, but there were too many people so I gave up. Instead, I decided to visit Amanohashidate Winery in search of lunch and my favorite white wine. There was a long line for lunch there as well, so I bought a dry white wine and some snacks to enjoy at home. I also tried a non-alcoholic "white wine soft" which was very refreshing. It had a strong grape flavor and a gentle sweetness, making it delicious.

I stopped by to buy wine because I passed by the store. I was unsure which one to choose, but I felt like having sparkling wine, so I purchased a bottle of sparkling wine. It was sweet and refreshing! I also bought some grape bread from the wine shop, thinking it must be delicious. I had grape bread for the first time in a while. It's delicious! It goes well not with wine, but with milk.

This is my first visit. When traveling, if possible, I like to visit wineries. This one is located in the north of Kyoto, bearing the name of Amanohashidate. You can enjoy various types of wine, but I especially liked the white wine. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Amanohashidate Winery where I wanted to visit, and there was Fumiya's autograph. I made it here~ It's very stylish and the attached vegetable market is very cheap. I could drink wine for 200 yen and buy wine cheaper than the one I bought at the supermarket the day before. The wine soft serve ice cream was the goal! It was plentiful for 200 yen, but the taste didn't really have a wine flavor. I bought three types of wine and a red wine cake, both of which were reasonable and the wine was very delicious. I've recently become fond of Japanese wineries. The red wine cake was only 500 yen, but it was a bit dry... I hope they can improve a little. There were some grapes on top which seemed to be used for red wine.

Tasting at the winery, then having a parfait at the restaurant. The wine in fermentation that can only be tasted here was delicious. Both the winery and the restaurant had beautiful views and it was a relaxing time.
