I had Kyoto-style chirashi sushi for lunch. The restaurant had 6 counter seats and I was seated right in the middle of the counter by myself, feeling a bit nervous. The food was delicious. However, I was unsure about the correct way to use soy sauce in this situation.

Walking on the stone pavement of Kamishichiken, you will find the sushi restaurant "Yoshitsuki" standing in the flower district. The appetizer is fugu skin dressed in ponzu sauce, perfect for a starter. The assorted sashimi includes seared mackerel, fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, flathead fish, golden eye snapper, all fresh and delicious. The seared tuna, topped with grated daikon and dipped in a slightly garlicky sauce, is tasty. The grilled oysters in miso sauce are a must-try, especially when eaten with the thinly sliced kombu. The pot-grilled turban shell is best paired with Japanese sake, with its firm and meaty texture. The nigiri sushi selection of sea urchin, salmon roe, horse mackerel, tuna, eel, and pickled gourd was particularly delicious. Yoshitsuki is a relatively affordable and delicious restaurant in Kamishichiken.

I visited during lunchtime. I ordered a lunch set with a sashimi assortment and an eel bowl. Both were delicious, but I felt like the eel portion in the eel bowl was a bit small.

"New review and 9 photos from December 2016: Surprisingly easy to enter this sushi restaurant in Kamishichiken. They specialize in Edomae-style sushi, with fresh fish and delicious dishes. I visit a few times a year to enjoy the freshness. I start with some sake and then enjoy their customizable nigiri sushi. Thinking of going one more time before the end of the year. My rating from my visit in July 2015 was: Overall 3.8, Food 4.0, Service 3.8, Atmosphere 3.8, Value 3.5, Drinks 3.7."

When you think of a sushi restaurant in Kamishichiken, you might expect it to be expensive. However, this place has a menu displayed outside with prices, so you can get a good idea before entering. And actually, it's more reasonable than you might think! The portions are quite generous, and I always end up feeling full. The chef is young and friendly, and he recommends dishes like, "Today we have this." The fresh and excellent quality of the sushi is also a plus. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is quite relaxed, so it's not like the bustling sushi restaurants you might imagine. There are geishas? drinking with customers and mostly older patrons. It's a place where you can enjoy sushi without any pretense, even in Kamishichiken.

I have been eating my way through the streets of Kyoto for 20 years, visiting various restaurants, but I always felt that the restaurants in Kamigyo-ku were too high-end and intimidating to visit. However, I recently discovered a restaurant that completely changed my perception! Despite its luxurious atmosphere, they offer fresh seafood at a reasonable price! Their selection of sake is also very impressive, with many fruity sakes available. I had their lunch set for ¥1800 this time, and the cost performance was overwhelming - especially the quality of the sashimi! The way the bonito belly fat melted in my mouth was like eating medium fatty tuna. The crème brûlée served at the end was authentic and could rival any Western confectionery shop. The chef and the hostess were both very friendly and welcoming, making it a great place for women to dine alone. I will definitely visit again at night next time!

Today is the 25th. Yes, it's the day of Tenjin-san (Kitano Tenmangu-san). Every year on December 25th, it is called "Owari Tenjin". In recent years, the number of people on the 25th has slightly decreased. There are many hidden gems, so it's very enjoyable to go and explore. After looking around, you can continue to explore and enjoy food in the Kamishichiken area, which is a popular course for women. Many shops sell limited edition course meals, bento boxes, and side dishes on the 25th. Of course, they are limited in quantity, so be careful as they may be sold out by around 1 pm. Also, many lunch courses cost over 3000 yen, so if you want to indulge, be sure to enjoy the "atmosphere" at such restaurants. Actually, there are some shops that may seem unrelated but have the same owner, so be aware. I'll stop here before it gets too risky. (*Might get a request for correction? (laughs)) The weather on this day was light rain. It rained on and off, but it settled down to the point where you didn't need an umbrella. In Kyoto, when it rains, many places struggle with fewer visitors. However, rainy or snowy Kyoto is a rare sight, so I think it should be seen as an opportunity. As expected, there were few people in the Kamishichiken area. While searching for various shops, it was time to decide on a lunch spot, so I hurriedly headed to "Sushi Yoshitsuki" for my first visit. There are two lunch courses available. For an additional 500 yen, you get two more items of chawanmushi and sashimi. Naturally, I chose the latter course, which offers more value. It was 1800 yen (tax included). Please be surprised. Please be amazed. If you see what I write and evaluate, you can tell it's of a certain quality, right? The atmosphere is really nice. It's great for couples or groups of women. However, it's not suitable if you have a strong scent of makeup or perfume. Excuse me. While waiting, I had a local sake "Oku Harima: Hyogo" for 750 yen + tax. It was my first experience with +13, and it was super dry, but easy to drink (for me). I usually drink spirits straight on the rocks, so (laughs). There were nine types of sashimi, each served in small portions but delicious. The chirashi sushi was also very tasty with the right amount of vinegar. The red miso soup was also good. The dried wheat gluten as a condiment was well prepared. (I'm a gloomy type, so) "It's different from the chain restaurant!" (Excuse me) Good atmosphere, good taste, good service, and delicious sake made it an overall great experience without any negative points. It was well worth the cost, considering the location as well. The caramelized pudding for dessert was also homemade by the young chef here. The level of completion was on par with a professional pastry chef. It was really delicious. (This matter is...) The young landlady managed the hall while the owner provided the food. It was a great atmosphere. I felt really good. This course is not limited to the 25th, it is offered every day, so it's a great deal. For lunch, the availability of nigiri sushi may vary depending on circumstances and time, and some items may not be available due to evening preparations, so it's advisable to check for individual or single items during lunch. There was a conversation about this at the restaurant. Well, I found another great restaurant. It's a great choice for a date. Although I don't have a partner. I'm very satisfied. I'll visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Next to the post office is a restaurant. After visiting Kitano Tenmangu Shrine for the Shichi-Go-San ceremony, our family of seven adults and two children made a reservation and went there. We were very satisfied with the slightly sweet chirashi sushi, elegant sashimi, and authentic desserts. The head chef seems to have experience in a French restaurant, and the dishes were truly outstanding. The selection of sake is quite unique, with the head chef personally selecting delicious options to serve at the restaurant. There are no disappointments. The prices may seem high due to the location, but the cost performance is quite good. They also offer set courses for peace of mind. The representative menu and prices are displayed in front of the restaurant, which is very helpful. Lunch is only available on the first floor (course meals only), and the second floor is also available for dinner. It is recommended to make a reservation if possible. The head chef may look intimidating at first glance, but he is surprisingly friendly. You can feel the chef's personality in the dishes served. Highly recommended.

Known as the oldest hanamachi in Kyoto, Kamishichiken. During the summer, there is a bon dance, so the shops along Kamishichiken Street also set up stalls. I purchased a chirashi sushi for 700 yen at this sushi restaurant. It was a mini bowl with kinshi tamago, shrimp, eel, flying fish, simmered shiitake mushrooms, and datemaki, and it was delicious. I hope to be able to eat at the restaurant next time. *This is a menu for stalls, so it may not be available on regular days.
