■Established in 1860, this renowned tea shop in Uji offers a variety of tea sweets and tea to enjoy. You can purchase souvenirs or relax in the café space with a courtyard. I stopped by for a matcha café tour. The café space has sofa seating overlooking the courtyard, where you can leisurely enjoy your tea. ■Order (excluding tax) - Matcha Cheesecake: 680 yen A Uji matcha cheesecake made with stone-ground Uji matcha and high-quality cream cheese. The smooth mousse-like texture combined with the mellow flavor of matcha is delightful. The bottom layer is moist like crumble crust, creating a nice contrast in textures. - Iced Matcha Latte: 530 yen Distinctive matcha flavor with a rich taste. Adding the accompanying sauce enhances the sweetness. ■Store Information - Access: About a 6-minute walk from JR Nara Line "Uji Station" - Opening Hours: 10:00-18:00 (Last Order: 17:00) - Closed on Tuesdays - Seating: Sofa seating, table seating - Parking Available - Wi-Fi: Not available - Power Outlets: Not available - Cashless Payment: Available

I visited around 1 pm on Saturday and there were 2 groups ahead of me. I ordered the Uji Tasseled Matcha Parfait for 1,936 yen including tax. It looked beautiful! The matcha had a good balance of sweetness and bitterness, and everything in the parfait - jelly, truffle, chiffon cake, and white dumplings - was delicious. I had heard it was around 1,600 yen, so I thought it was a bit expensive, but the taste was perfect.

Tsujiri has many stores nationwide, but experiencing the taste of Tsujiri in its hometown of Uji, in a traditional old house with a great atmosphere, is highly recommended. The matcha jelly has a perfect balance of matcha richness and sweetness, making it especially delicious. I also recommend trying their roasted green tea drinks and soft serve ice cream, which are also very tasty. The location is slightly away from Uji Station and Byodoin Temple, so it tends to be less crowded compared to other popular shops.

After visiting the Daikichi Mountain Observatory in Uji, we went to this place to cool off at my wife's request. As we entered the grounds, we passed through a lovely garden that felt like a different world before reaching the entrance. The interior of the shop had a nice atmosphere of an old Japanese house. I ordered warabi mochi, while my wife ordered cold zenzai, and we both ordered cold tea. The cold tea had a wonderful aroma, and as we brewed it for the second and third time, the bitterness changed, leaving a refreshing taste. The warabi mochi had a jelly-like texture and was enjoyed with the rich matcha sauce on the left. Lastly, we poured the sauce over the shaved ice in the middle and ate it, but as I have a sensitive stomach, I gave it to my wife. We bought some souvenirs before leaving. I want to go back again, and next time, I want to try the hot tea.

I went there on a weekday afternoon. I was seated right away, which was great. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice. I had the hojicha parfait! The hojicha flavor was rich and spread in my mouth, but the aftertaste was refreshing and very delicious! It was also nice to be able to enjoy the change in taste by adding black honey. I highly recommend trying the Japanese chestnut truffle that came with it, as it was really delicious♪

I received these as a souvenir. What I ate: Matcha Dorayaki and Matcha Daifuku. Matcha Dorayaki: Inside is red bean paste with matcha cream. It was delicious and not too sweet. I could taste the matcha, which was nice. Matcha Daifuku: Inside is matcha bean paste, coated with matcha powder on the outside. It lacked matcha flavor and the sweetness was overwhelming. I could taste more sugar than matcha. If that's the case, regular red bean paste would be better.

Winding through a residential area, we eventually came to a dead end where a parking lot was located. Surprisingly, there was a taxi parked there, a rare sight in such a narrow street. As we climbed up the parking lot, we were greeted by a cool and atmospheric gate and curtain. The inside of the shop had a nostalgic Taisho era vibe mixed with a modern touch, making it a truly valuable place to visit. Although the prices of the tea were a bit surprising, we felt compelled to try the most expensive one since it was such a special place. The Gyokuro and Matcha tea came with traditional Japanese sweets for just over two thousand yen. We also ordered the cold-brewed Matcha, which was unexpectedly rich in flavor, almost like a broth rather than tea. The hot Matcha was also incredibly flavorful, surpassing our expectations. Two small cups were provided, one to pour hot water in and cool down the tea before transferring it to the teapot for brewing, we learned. By the fourth cup, we had gotten used to the taste and enjoyed it thoroughly. Although I had no idea about the taste of Matcha and ordered it out of curiosity, it turned out to be quite bitter. The staff kindly suggested adding hot water to dilute it if it was too bitter, which we did. Looking around, we noticed that the Matcha parfait was also a popular choice among customers.

The restaurant near Uji Station is overwhelmingly empty compared to other nearby stores. It was almost empty at 1 pm on a Saturday. However, the taste is not much different, so it's a hidden gem. The new tea parfait is delicious. We sat on a sofa seat by the window where we could see the garden, so the atmosphere was really nice!

In a corner of a residential street, there is a tea house. The atmosphere is fantastic, and time flows leisurely. I had matcha cheesecake and chocolate cake, along with green tea, and the matcha flavor was superb and intense, of course, at a high level. The souvenir corner is also well-stocked!

I came to buy souvenirs. The sweets made with matcha are delicious. Since it's just after opening, I can enjoy the view of the garden and there are comfortable seats available. I decided to relax and enjoy a cup of matcha latte and a tea-fukumochi. The matcha latte comes with a rich matcha syrup. The tea-fukumochi is like a dorayaki with matcha in the skin, filled with sweet bean paste. The skin is chewy, the bean paste is light, and the matcha powder adds a balance of sweetness and bitterness, making it a sophisticated flavor. Everything here is slow-paced, which can be both good and bad. It's a place where you can forget about your busy life and just relax.

I had the Uji Honorable Matcha Parfait and Ice Green Tea. I was guided to a seat with a view of the garden, and I was able to enjoy a lovely view while eating. The parfait had various flavors and textures of matcha within it, making it fun to eat. The soft serve ice cream was rich in tea flavor. When you change the taste with the accompanying sauce, it becomes sweeter and a bit refreshing. The chestnut truffle is made by melting chocolate after receiving the order. The gentle sweetness of the chestnut matched well with the strong sweetness of the matcha chocolate (similar to white chocolate sweetness). Personally, this was the most delicious part of the parfait. The matcha jelly had a light taste compared to the others. The matcha crunch had a unique texture and a strong flavor of chocolate and tea. The matcha chiffon was fluffy and had a hint of tea flavor. The white mochi was not only on top of the parfait but also inside. The chewy texture was good. The jelly at the bottom had a very light taste. There was also red bean paste, but I will omit my opinion on it as I am not a fan. The Ice Green Tea had a slight sweetness and a refreshing taste. The parfait was quite voluminous, and I was a bit shocked that I couldn't finish it towards the end (probably would have been able to finish it easily when I was younger). However, it was very delicious.

On a Sunday morning, in a stylish Japanese-style establishment located in a residential area away from the city center. After a short wait, we were seated. We ordered a matcha parfait, matcha cheesecake, and matcha Mont Blanc cheesecake, all of which were rich in flavor with a strong matcha taste. The Mont Blanc had finely chopped chestnuts that paired perfectly with the matcha cream. And the parfait was simply delicious, no words needed. These matcha sweets were on par with the popular shops with long lines in the city center.

Around 11 o'clock, we visited with 2 people. We visited "Tsujiri Heebei Honten," located about a 7-minute walk from JR Uji Station. Along with Tsuen, Ito Kyuemon, Nakamura Fujiyoshi, and Kamibayashi Harumatsu Honpo, Tsujiri is one of the long-established tea shops in Uji. The establishment dates back to the year Bunkyu 1 (1860), and the one we visited this time is the main store tearoom of the branch family "Tsujiri Heebei Honten." Just to clarify, there is the main house "Kyoto Uji Sohonke Tsujiri" (Tsujiri Co., Ltd.), and the one we visited, "Tsujiri Heebei Honten," is a branch family. "Gion Tsujiri" was created as a casual tea house by the main house after the war, and the tearoom created by "Gion Tsujiri" for people to enjoy Japanese tea casually is called "Miyakoji." The main store tearoom of "Tsujiri Heebei Honten" is a bit of a walk from the station, but it had a wonderful atmosphere. Passing through the gate, there was a garden, and we walked through the garden to the entrance of the building. Inside the building, with subdued lighting, we were guided to a sofa seat where we could see the garden. Sitting comfortably on the sofa, we enjoyed the view of the garden we had just passed through. (Parfait) ■ Matcha Parfait Uji Tare 1,600 yen ■ Matcha Parfait Kumpu 900 yen ■ Hojicha Parfait Flame 1,600 yen ■ Hojicha Parfait Gosan 900 yen (Uji Matcha) ■ Premium Tenkei Matcha 2,200 yen ■ Chiyomukashi Matcha 1,800 yen ■ Kukeshi Matcha 1,500 yen ■ Kamokashi Matcha 1,000 yen ■ Morinoshira Usucha 2,000 yen ■ Yasakae no Shiro Usucha 1,700 yen ■ Soju no Shiro Usucha 1,400 yen ■ Uzuru no Shiro Usucha 900 yen ■ Hyoten Matcha Hyaku 1,600 yen ■ Frost Dew Matcha 900 yen (Uji Tencha) ■ Uji 1,600 yen (Uji Gyokuro) ■ Shisho Daimon 2,300 yen ■ Hekai 1,800 yen ■ Koma Kage 1,200 yen (Uji Sencha) ■ Eisai 1,800 yen ■ Hakuhou 1,400 yen ■ Hatsutsumi 950 yen (Kabusecha) ■ Houou 880 yen (Kanegasane) ■ Gyokuro Kanegasane Shiraore 1,000 yen ■ Gyokuro Kanegasane Masuike no O 800 yen (Genmaicha) ■ Matcha Genmaicha 800 yen (Hojicha) ■ Gyokuro Kuki Hoji Kanroka 800 yen There were so many menu items for parfaits and tea alone. There were also zenzai, warabimochi, soft serve ice cream, Japanese chestnut truffles, cakes, and other items using matcha. I took photos of the menu, so please take a look. [Dishes Received] ★ Matcha Parfait Uji Tare 1,600 yen A parfait full of matcha, including matcha soft serve, shiratama, matcha castella, and matcha jelly. [Overall Impression] I actually wanted to try the tea instead of the parfait, but I failed. I was swayed by the visual appeal of the parfait and ended up ordering it. The atmosphere is really nice. It's calming, and of course, the parfait is delicious. Definitely give it a try. I visited around 2pm on Saturday. It's a bit hidden in an alley, but I was surprised to find such a stylish cafe there. It retains a retro feel while keeping the restroom and seating area clean and cozy. The cheesecake was delicious, so I highly recommend it! I think it would be a great place for a date or to bring your parents, as they would surely enjoy it.

I recently visited Tsujirihei Honten to buy souvenirs for relatives I will be meeting soon. I initially planned to choose a gift and leave right away, but since it was a weekday and the cafe area was empty, I decided to have tea by myself. I was seated at a sofa table in the back, which was quite comfortable. I ordered the Uji Matcha O-Nocha Kamosaki, which came with seasonal fresh sweets. The matcha had a rich green color and a smooth taste, despite its intense appearance. It was not bitter, but rather had a gentle bitterness and a deep flavor. I also tried their Usucha, which was prepared with fine foam and had a delicate taste. The seasonal fresh sweet I had was called "Koubai," a smooth and mildly sweet treat that paired well with the matcha. The cafe was quiet and peaceful, perfect for enjoying a leisurely time. I will definitely visit Tsujirihei Honten again. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

I enjoyed the rich taste of matcha in the parfait, it was exactly what I was looking for! Not too sweet, perfect for those who want to savor the deliciousness of matcha. It was a shame that there was no whipped cream, but the soft serve ice cream was the best. The roasted tea was too bitter and harsh though, haha. It took about 20 minutes for the parfait to come out, so if you're short on time, it might be tough.

It was difficult to find, but I think it's a famous restaurant. It felt like being invited as a tea person in a mansion far from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto, as I challenged the parfait. The interior and exterior space design of the store, like a garden leading to a tea room, is fantastic. The cost performance is also good, and the threshold is not that high, which is also attractive.

I visited this tea house during my trip because I love matcha. The shop is a bit away from the station and located inside a traditional house. The calm atmosphere of the old house was very nice. In a spacious area, you can enjoy elegant matcha and sweets while looking at the garden, making it a great place that makes you feel lucky to have been born in Japan.

Matcha Parfait Uji Praise 1600 yen. As expected from Kyoto matcha, the matcha flavor is rich in every aspect such as soft serve and chocolate. The Japanese chestnut coated with matcha chocolate was very delicious. Every part of it was of high quality and satisfying. Next time, I would like to try the hojicha parfait or matcha Mont Blanc.

On the first day of my autumn trip to Kyoto, I visited Uji. I chose Tsujiri, a famous parfait shop in the area. However, the location of the shop was hard to find! It's behind Uji Station, through narrow alleys and one-way streets, but I finally found it (laughs). There is a second parking lot, which is spacious. I arrived around 11 o'clock, but it was already full. I waited for about 10 minutes in the souvenir corner, then I was seated in a seating area overlooking the courtyard. I ordered the "Autumn Limited Matcha Parfait". The matcha soft-serve ice cream was rich with a strong bitterness of matcha. The sweetened matcha syrup for flavor change was just right when poured over. The sweet potato-like red bean paste was chewy and delicious. The pink layer at the bottom is a vinegar jelly. It's sour, but it's good for refreshing the palate at the end. Thank you for the meal. Harvest of this visit: Autumn Limited Matcha Parfait ¥1760 (tax included)

Jelly 1100 yen Matcha Latte Ice Cream 583 yen I had some free time in Uji, so I decided to try some matcha sweets. I first went to the highly rated Nakamura Tokichi Main Store in Uji, but the line was so long that I would have to wait for at least an hour. So, I turned back and went to Tsujiri Heiemon Main Store instead. As I walked through the residential area, I started to doubt if I was in the right place. But when I entered through the grand gate surrounded by walls, I was amazed by the beautiful garden. The atmosphere was so nice that I wondered if it was okay for a ramen lover like me to enter. I was guided to a seat right in front of the garden, which was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was amazing, the view was great, and the seat was very comfortable. I ordered jelly and matcha latte ice cream. The jelly had a nice texture with a natural matcha flavor, not too strong or too weak. It was just right. The sweetness was subtle but perfect. The white mochi had a chewy texture and a delicious sweetness. The red bean paste was mildly sweet, complementing the overall taste. The matcha ice cream was also subtly sweet, allowing the matcha flavor to shine. When I tried the sauce, it was also mildly sweet, enhancing the matcha experience. The matcha latte had a light matcha tea on top and fresh milk at the bottom. The slight sweetness of the milk made it very enjoyable. Overall, the atmosphere was amazing, and the sweets and drinks were delicious. I really liked this place.
