Taking into account the time intervals between posts, I still worry that I might be filling up the timeline by posting multiple times a day. Putting that aside, for my final takeout purchase of the day, I decided to go to a canelé shop! It turns out they opened in the former location of a lemonade specialty store, which EXIT also visited. There have been various comments about the staff, and I can kind of see where they're coming from. I won't go into details, but honestly, they do come off a bit cold. I bought the simplest and most affordable option, the "Plain" canelé (¥450). I was surprised that there was no packaging for a takeout order, especially considering the price. Is it worth it for ¥450, even if it's on the larger side? I divided it in half and compared eating it as is versus heating it up in a toaster oven. Even when baked for a longer time, the outer layer didn't get that crispy texture. Perhaps because it's a raw canelé, the inside was chewy rather than moist, reminiscent of chilled French toast. The flavor highlights the vanilla well, with just the right amount of sweetness and a refreshing touch. I prefer the texture of the non-raw canelé, but there are some aspects that I find intriguing. Given the higher price point, it might be wise to try one and then decide whether to become a repeat customer. Thank you for the meal.

I walk along Tanuki Koji. It's nice to have a roof, it makes it easy to walk even in winter. It's totally different with or without these arcades. It would be great if there were shopping parks too. I can't read... so I don't even know what kind of shops these are. There are also stylish shops on Tanuki Koji. When I looked it up, it's a specialty shop for "Canele." The shop just opened on November 24, 2022. Canele... reminds me of when it was popular back when I was in my 20s. It seems to be trending again recently. Does this mean that Nata de Coco will be popular next? Exciting... It takes quite a bit of courage for a man to enter a shop like this alone. But, I went in. Because it would be weird if I just peeked in from outside! And, it's completely different from what was sold in the past, Canele is displayed in a showcase like a cake shop. And there are various types. Really? The lineup is like this. There are so many different types. Among them, the strawberry one stands out. It's so different from the past... really? A regular Canele is 450 yen each. There are also ones in the 500 yen range and 600 yen range. Wait, it's Canele, the price for one piece. I need to be prepared to accept that this is the era of such prices in Japan. And I made a purchase, it's like a cake in a box. And a big sticker of the shop... But, I'll eat it right away so I peeled off the sticker. It feels a bit awkward. I was asked if I would eat it right away? If they had asked, they didn't need to pack it up so carefully. But, it's just one piece. There's a pitiful Canele in the bottom right corner. There's overwhelmingly more empty space. Are there really no customers buying just one piece? I'll choose to believe that there are. Canele Strawberry for 680 yen. It said this is the most popular, so I bought it, but this was the most expensive. It costs 680 yen. There's a strawberry pierced from the bottom of a regular Canele. Is there a 230 yen difference just because of the strawberry? And there seems to be less Canele in the hollowed-out part. That's not what it's about, right? That's an old man's thinking. Eating while walking. Tasting on the spot. ...Is Canele supposed to be like this? It feels moist and spongy, like a sponge cake. And the strawberry... I have to be careful or it might fall off. It was actually quite risky. It ended after two bites for 680 yen. But, I'm sure it's popular among young people. By the way, when I went to Sapporo Daimaru on my way back, another Canele specialty shop was there as a pop-up store, and I was really surprised by the long line there. Maybe this shop also always has a line during normal days? I might have been lucky not to have to wait in line to buy. Oh, if I had waited in line... I might not have bought it. Thank you for the meal. ⇒ ◆ Got excited in Sapporo and ended up buying this ◆

On a certain holiday, while strolling around the city, I bookmarked a canelé specialty shop located on Tanuki Koji 5-chome. The store, which used to be a lemon squash subscription shop until last year, has been completely renovated into a compact space with a reception counter and a canelé showcase. From the menu on that day, I chose a canelé that seemed to have a similar base to the others, with no particular attachment, so I opted for the most affordable option. The "Plain (450 yen)" had an average size and color, and when I took a bite... Hmm, recently many canelés have a hard surface, but this one was relatively soft, with a slight moistness. The inside was even more moist, with a high oil content and a subtle sweetness with the classic flavor of alcohol. The "White Chocolate (500 yen)" was slightly softer than the Plain one, with a white chocolate coating on top. Overall, it was not more or less than expected. I hope that more canelé shops, including this one, become a trend. Thank you for the meal.

There is a canelé specialty shop that opened on Tanuki Koji. Each piece was around 450 yen. The outside was crispy, but the inside was not the chewy texture I like, more like a sponge cake. Some had strawberries on top, so maybe that combination works well. When I went, there were three types in the showcase, but with no descriptions at all. I couldn't tell if the green one was matcha or pistachio, and the white one was also a mystery. When I asked, they told me, but overall the service seemed lacking. One of the staff members was good though.

Visited on November 28, 2022, on the opening day, I was strolling around Tanukikoji by myself. An old man sent me a message with just one photo of the exterior of the shop (^_^;) How am I supposed to know where that is! But he told me it was Tanukikoji. I was too busy to go that day (cries). The next day, I was too hungover (^_^;) So, five days later, I finally visited the shop. The canelés were slightly larger in size, starting from 450 yen for plain ones, which was quite pricey (sweating). However, they were not dry but moist, with a moderate sweetness, and very delicious (*^^*) My favorites were the matcha chocolate and custard cream ones. The white chocolate was also delicious, right? Oh, I heard that the sales clerk was beautiful, so I mentioned it, and she didn't seem to mind too much (laughs). But she really did have a beautiful figure (*^^*)

I will continue with the reviews of 2022. There is a specialty store for canelés that opened at the end of Tanukikoji 5-chome. My wife has recently become obsessed with canelés, so I decided to buy some on our way back from shopping. The store is not very large, so if there are customers inside, you may have to wait outside. There are 10 different types of canelés, but some may be sold out depending on the time. This time, I bought the "Plain (450 yen)", "Cream (550 yen)", and "Custard Cream (550 yen)" as shown in the picture. The size of each canelé is quite large, with a crispy outer layer and a chewy texture inside. I tried the Plain and Cream canelés, and both were delicious with a mild sweetness. The prices may seem a bit high, but I think it's worth it for those who love canelés.

I received a souvenir from a colleague who went to Hokkaido for work. I had only eaten small canelés before, so this one had a satisfying texture. It was more like a cake than a chewy canelé, and the white chocolate on top was delicious too.
