During the peak of summer in mid-July, we visited Ine Town. It was just past 2 pm, but the town was bustling with several groups of people waiting in line. Luckily, we managed to get in just before closing time. We ordered the boiled fish set meal and fresh oysters. The oysters were cut into bite-sized pieces, tender and flavorful. They were delicious! They were slightly smaller than the ones we had at Omicho Market in Kanazawa. The boiled fish in the set meal was well-seasoned and went well with the rice. The portion was generous, and considering it's a tourist spot, the price of 1800 yen for a set meal (with around 6 options to choose from) felt reasonable. This restaurant offers a view of the boat houses in Ine Town and is highly recommended.

◇◾️April 2023◾️◇I casually suggested, "Want to go see Ine no Funaya?" recently, I've been seeing the scenery of Ine a lot on TV... About 38 years ago, I passed by Ine only once back then, I had no interest and just passed through (^_^;) The road near the Funaya houses is narrow, so if you can't find parking, you have to give up. We went with that kind of feeling. There seems to be a "Michi no Eki" (roadside station) a little further up where you can see the view of Ine from above or see the Funaya up close. Luckily, we were able to park at a seaside parking lot, so we could see the Funaya and the sea up close. The view was really beautiful. The sea is so blue♪ It was lunchtime, but we were able to sit down without waiting. When we ordered, the food was served in about 5 minutes. I was surprised by how fast it was (^◇^;) The table next to us, who ordered after us, got served even faster than me (surprising). - Simmered Fish Set Meal 1800 yen. I ordered it after seeing the menu photo, but I didn't expect a decently sized simmered sea bream (Tai) (^_^;) Seriously! A whole fish! Oh, sashimi is included too! Surprising... If I wasn't driving, I would have had it with beer~♪ One thing I wondered about was the udon broth. What flavor is this? Since it's the Japan Sea side, is it flying fish broth? Or some other fish-based broth? Other than that, it was great. It was delicious. My wife, who loves seafood bowls, chose the Seafood Bowl Set Meal 1800 yen without hesitation. She ate silently without saying anything, finishing even the small udon, and finally said, "The portion is big~ It's delicious." I'm glad we came to Ine. I want to come back again. Ine, you were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When I visited the boat houses in Ine Town, I stopped by this shop. The interior offers a view of the boat houses in Ine Town. I ordered the Ine Gozen without knowing what it was. To my surprise, there was a huge variety of fish dishes! Sashimi, simmered fish, grilled fish, steamed fish, fish in sweet miso sauce, fried fish, and more kept coming out. The amount was so much that I mistakenly thought it was for two people. I don't think I'll want to eat fish for a while...

Ine Town, designated as an important traditional building preservation area, is known for its boat houses. The traditional fishing village atmosphere remains, but in recent years, trendy cafes have opened, attracting a different clientele. Taking a sightseeing boat to view the town from the sea is truly stunning! However, it was difficult to find a place for lunch on this Sunday as many places had entry restrictions. Luckily, we found a restaurant on the second floor of the tourist information center. The menu was full of seafood dishes. We ordered the "boat platter set meal" and the "simmered fish set meal". To be honest, it had a typical tourist restaurant feel, but some dishes might surprise you in terms of taste or price. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I visited as a tourist on a regular day. It was quite crowded, and the kitchen and hall staff were understaffed, but I don't think that has anything to do with the quality of the food they serve. I ordered the sashimi boat set for 1,500 yen. Despite there being various 1,500 yen menu options, I found the quality to be quite low. It seems like the sashimi boat was prepared in advance due to the crowds. Not only mine, but the sashimi on other people's plates was dry and curled. And the mini udon was terrible! It seems like they boiled the noodles, placed them in a bowl in advance, and then just added the broth before serving. The noodles were soggy and lacked texture, and the broth was bland. Honestly, it was quite disappointing.

I visited Matsuo-ji Temple on the 29th of the Western Japan 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, and the next day I visited Naraso-ji Temple on the 28th. The weather was sunny, so the sightseeing at Amanohashidate and Ine was fantastic. For lunch in Ine, I went to Funaya Shokudo. It's a restaurant run by the Okuine Onsen Aburaya where I stayed before, so you can't go wrong. It's located on the second floor of the Ine Town Tourist Association in front of Ineura Park. You can enjoy fresh fish caught in Ine Bay while overlooking the row of boat houses. I had the Marinated Firefly Squid Bowl (1500 yen). Firefly squid is known as the king of squid. The marinated dish in whole kelp soy sauce is exceptional, with the flavor of the sauce seeping into the squid. It's thick and chewy, with a sticky texture, sweet and full of umami. It goes well with rice.

Funaya Shokudo. I visited this restaurant after leisurely touring the Funaya houses. I ordered the squid rice bowl, but hmm... the smell is a bit off-putting. Is this normal? Well, I guess this is to be expected from a tourist-oriented restaurant like the one on the second floor of the Ine Town tourist information center. Eating while overlooking the Funaya houses is nice though.

On September 21, 2020 (Monday, public holiday), I visited a seafood rice bowl restaurant and had a meal for 1,500 yen with a friend before strolling around Ine no Funaya. We parked our car at a parking lot near the Michi-no-Eki and headed towards it, where there were eateries such as an oil shop inside. However, these places had long lines. Initially, I planned to have lunch at the oil shop, but the waiting time was very long. This could have disrupted our schedule for the rest of the day, so we decided to explore the Funaya while looking for another dining place. The Funaya Shokudo is located about a 10-minute walk from the Michi-no-Eki. Lunch menu is available from 11 am. When I arrived around 10:45 am, I was second in line. At the oil shop in Michi-no-Eki, the waiting time was 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours by the time I lined up at 10:30 am, so considering that, this place might be a hidden gem. However, the Funaya Shokudo also started to have a line forming around 10:50 am, so it was a close call. The Funaya Shokudo is on the second floor of a building, offering a great view and the best scenery.

This is a restaurant located right next to the venue taxi stand in Ine Town. It was a bit crowded during lunchtime, but we were able to get a table in about 20 minutes. The food, enjoyed while looking at the scenery, was excellent. They had a variety of fish dishes such as boat platters, fried fish, and seafood bowls. This place is perfect for sightseeing. 1500 yen.

I went back to the tourist association's office where I saw a sign for a restaurant nearby. I found a new restaurant called "Funaya Shokudo" on the second floor of the building. Despite it being past 2 o'clock, there was only one group waiting. I decided to try their Funaya set meal for 2000 yen. The set included sashimi, grilled fish, simmered fish, hot pot, side dishes, chawanmushi, miso soup, rice, and pickles. The food was fresh and delicious, and the view from the restaurant was nice as well. Overall, I was very satisfied with the meal.

I visited "Funaya Shokudo" in Ine Town, Kyoto Prefecture. It is a restaurant located on the second floor of the Ine Town Tourism Association, opened in April 2018, with a traditional Japanese house atmosphere. The restaurant overlooks the Ine boat houses, where you can enjoy fresh fish caught in Ine Bay. I ordered the "Seafood Bowl (1,500 yen)" and my husband ordered the "Funaya Set Meal (2,000 yen)". We also ordered two fresh "Rock Oysters (1,500 yen)" as well. The seafood bowl came with side dishes and miso soup, and it had a variety of fish such as sea bream and yellowtail, all very fresh and delicious. The Funaya set meal included sashimi, simmered dish, grilled dish, hot pot, chawanmushi, side dishes, pickles, and miso soup. The octopus pickled in chili oil in the side dish was especially delicious. The rock oysters were grilled and had a rich and tasty flavor. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Eating while looking at the funaya houses in Ine is nice, but the food is quite ordinary. I would like to try eating a squid bowl.

On the last day of the consecutive holidays, I stopped by the Funaya Shokudo restaurant on the second floor of the sightseeing information center in Ine for lunch. The lunch menu included seafood bowl, simmered fish set meal, grilled fish set meal, tonkatsu set meal, and boat platter set meal, all priced at 1,500 yen each. I chose the grilled fish set meal, which also came with sashimi. Despite being told that it would take some time, the food arrived quickly. However, the sashimi was mushy and dry, and the grilled fish seemed like it was just reheated and full of small bones. The fish was not enjoyable to eat at all. The udon that came with it also seemed like it had been prepared hours ago, so I decided not to eat it. I do not have any photos because the experience was not worth documenting. This restaurant is definitely not recommended, as the quality and value for money were extremely poor. I regret not researching more before going there. I hope this review can be helpful for those considering visiting this place.

I visited because I wanted to eat the buri in Ine. The buri was delicious, and I would like to come back again. My companion had a seafood bowl.

When I visited Ine Town, I had a seafood bowl set. As expected from a town by the fishing port, the seafood was fresh and delicious. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and the atmosphere was cheerful. I was able to enjoy my meal slowly and deliciously.

The grilled fish was neither good nor bad, but the view from here is wonderful. It is a luxury to eat while looking at the Ine Funaya.

I visited this restaurant for lunch the other day. I ordered the seafood bowl for 1500 yen. The service was provided by an unfriendly old man who smelled like pomade from the countryside. The seafood bowl arrived shortly after. It was a small portion, even for a woman. I finished the rice in three bites, and there was too little fish. I would understand if it was 700 yen, but this is supposed to be a town known for its fish. Just like in Miyazu, the tourism industry here is lacking. The seafood bowl was overpriced. I do not recommend it. I will never go back, but I hope they will consider improving.
