I love raw oysters, and my friend recommended this place as being really delicious, so I decided to try it out. Located inside Nishiki Market, I arrived around 4:30 pm on the middle day of a 3-day weekend and waited in line for about 20 minutes. The three types of raw oysters were incredibly delicious! I even had seconds! The other dishes we ordered were also tasty! I definitely want to come back here for more raw oysters!

Kaki no Honya is a reliable oyster shop in Nishiki Market, which has been popular among foreigners for a long time. We decided to dine there as it was not crowded, and we ordered oysters and katsuo tataki after seeing another customer's order. We also enjoyed a tasting set of three different types of sake. I wanted to try the raw oysters, but my companion preferred steamed oysters. It was a great experience to enjoy drinking and eating at lunchtime. Thank you!

I wanted to eat fresh oysters, so I knew that there were live oysters at Daian, the entrance of Nishiki Market. It was my first time visiting today. They had two types of oysters from Miyagi Prefecture, one type of oyster from the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, and one type of oyster from Akkeshi, Hokkaido. I decided to go for the larger ones from Akkeshi and Goto Islands. Since the outdoor seating didn't have air conditioning, I was able to get in without waiting in line. I had been drinking sake since the morning, so I opted for wine (I wish they had Chablis by the glass if oysters are their specialty). Both types of oysters were rich and delicious. Personally, I preferred the ones from the Goto Islands as they had a firm and rich texture.

The second stop for day drinking in Kyoto is here, Nishiki Daiyasu. Until just recently, I only knew Daiyasu as a pickles store. Established in 1921, this oyster specialty shop is a common knowledge among Kyoto locals, but not for someone like me who lacks knowledge. Since winning oysters this year, I tried oysters for the first time and, being a chicken, I ordered oyster fry and highball. Everything was delicious and I wanted to try more, but I was already full from the first stop, so I left after my first order, hoping to come back and enjoy more leisurely. I plan to eat at a third place within an hour, so I decide to walk around and work up an appetite.

The restaurant offers oysters sourced with strict safety standards at reasonable prices, making it a popular spot with long lines. Customers can watch the staff shuck fresh oysters while waiting in line. They ordered steamed oysters, clams, yuba (tofu skin), small taro, and a tasting flight of Kyoto sake. The oysters were large, seasoned only with the saltiness of seawater, though a bit more saltiness would have been preferred personally. They were firm with a fluffy cotton-like texture. They enjoyed them with Kyoto sake.

I came to Nishiki Market and finally visited Daiyasu, a place I've been wanting to go for a while. When I arrived around 12 o'clock on Saturday, there were 2-3 groups waiting in line. I was seated fairly quickly. I thought the restaurant would have a more old-fashioned feel since it has been around since the Taisho era, but the interior was very clean and had a trendy, modern vibe. I placed my order using a touch panel. I ordered a beer, a platter of 3 types of fresh oysters, fried oysters, oyster gratin, a sashimi platter, and firefly squid. The fresh oysters were amazing. The fried oysters and oyster gratin were also delicious. The sashimi was fresh and tasty. With more tourists coming to Nishiki Market, the place was crowded with locals, and there might be a wait to get into the restaurant on weekends, but I definitely want to go back for more.

You might think that Daian at Nishiki Market in Kyoto is a touristy spot for a quick drink and fresh oysters, but it's actually a place where you can enjoy carefully selected oysters available during that season. The staff provides great service and you can order using a touch panel. They also explain the flavors of the four types of oysters and recommend the order in which to eat them. Finally, with the return of inbound tourists, the area is bustling with activity. Daian is one of the best recommended restaurants in Nishiki. Highly recommended for oyster lovers!

A shop in Kyoto where you can enjoy safely and securely. Located in Nishiki Market, this shop is loved by locals as well as tourists. It's a great place for day drinking with delicious oysters and sake. The types of oysters available may vary depending on the day's catch. You'll always leave feeling like it was the best experience. Today I had fresh oysters from Nagasaki, Hyogo, Okayama, and Iwate prefectures. They were all so delicious! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited on a Sunday evening. The store closes at 8pm, with last order at 7:30pm, so please be mindful of the early closing time. I enjoyed delicious oyster dishes. Everything I ordered was delicious!! The cost performance of the dishes and prices was good, and I would like to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the meal.

Located at the western end of Nishiki Market, this shop often has long lines during lunchtime. I tried the following dishes: - Assorted 4 types of oysters - Steamed oysters - Oyster gratin - Oysters simmered in white miso - Yuba sashimi The speed of service was fast, allowing for a pleasant dining experience. This shop is perfect for those exploring Nishiki Market and looking for a quick bite to eat.

Established for over 100 years! I compared and enjoyed fresh oysters at a renowned store - Established in the 10th year of the Taisho era, I tried different types of fresh oysters from various regions: - Iwate Prefecture, Otsuchi-produced fresh oysters - Hyogo Prefecture, Murotsu-produced fresh oysters - Hiroshima Prefecture, Akitu-produced fresh oysters - Nagasaki Prefecture, Konagai-produced fresh oysters Even though they are all oysters, the taste varies slightly depending on the region, which is quite interesting - Iwate-produced oysters have a strong saltiness, Hyogo-produced oysters have a strong flavor of the sea and richness, Hiroshima-produced oysters are light and refreshing, and Nagasaki-produced oysters are sweet and flavorful. They were all incredibly fresh and delicious. This restaurant is perfect for a casual drink break during a stroll. You can also compare different types of sake here. Located in the Nishiki Market, it does have a touristy feel, but it's definitely worth a visit. The restaurant has its own strict standards for fresh oysters, surpassing the standards set by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare. The oysters undergo two inspections before being served. While there is always a risk with consuming raw food, especially due to personal health conditions, it's ideal to eat in a place where you can expect safety and peace of mind. Personally, I have had food poisoning from oysters multiple times, but I love them so much that I can't stop eating them. I'll definitely stop by again when I visit Nishiki Market. Next time, I want to try their oyster fry too!

About a 5-minute walk from Exit 22 of Karasuma Line/Shijo Station. Just off Kawaramachi Street, right as you enter Nishiki Market. Closes at 6 pm (last order at 5:30 pm), so please be aware of the closing time. Discovered this place while exploring Nishiki Market. I make sure to visit every time I come to Kyoto. The assorted plate of three types of fresh oysters is priced at 1,260 yen, oyster fry at 780 yen, draft beer at 540 yen, plum wine on the rocks at 480 yen. The fresh oysters are from Nagasaki, Hyogo, and Iwate prefectures, with different sources based on the season. The texture is firm and the flavor is rich and delicious. Each region offers a different level of richness, so you won't get tired of eating them. Since it's winter, I also tried the oyster fry. It was delicious with tartar sauce! I usually come for the fresh oysters, but the fry is also good. The plum wine on the rocks that my friend ordered is served in a refined amount, so it's a great choice for bar hopping. It might be just the right amount to enjoy Nishiki Market more broadly (approximately).

I still love oysters. On the way back from shopping in Karasuma, I stopped by a place where I usually have to wait in line, but this time I could get in right away. I had a comparison of oyster dishes, oyster fry, white wine, and I even had a refill of white wine. It's a place where you can easily stop by alone, so I'll definitely go again.

When there are 40 people lined up, you can drink slowly right away. The staff are efficient and the atmosphere is great. Unfortunately, they were sold out of Shirako, but I was able to eat a lot of oysters. This izakaya gives me the motivation to keep going this year. Delicious! ( ゚_ゝ゚)ノ

They really specialize in oysters. Everything was so tasty. This place is perfect for a quick stop to enjoy some oysters. The oysters were really delicious.

The lunch was light, so my friend and I decided to have fresh oysters as a snack and ended up at Nishiki Market. It's located right near the entrance on the Karasuma side of the market. There were about 3 groups ahead of us before entering, and we waited for nearly 30 minutes. It seemed like the staff was short-handed or the operation was inefficient, causing slow turnover. I noticed that they were wiping the menu pages one by one with alcohol spray before customers used the tablet to order. While it's good to be cautious, maybe they should just not have menus on the tables in the first place. The fresh oysters were delicious and reasonably priced. I saw a young man and an older man shucking oysters outside, with the older man's gloves torn and soaked in cold water, which was quite impressive in a way. Thanks to them, we enjoyed our snack. I recommend going when there's no line.

Visited the Nishiki Market craving for oysters. Ordered a platter of 3 types of fresh oysters, grilled oysters, oysters cooked in butter, fresh yuba (tofu skin), and a platter of 4 types of miso-glazed wheat gluten. Enjoyed seafood while drinking alcohol during the daytime. The oysters were a bit small and had a mild flavor. The butter-grilled oysters were delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice, with some seats offering a view of a lovely courtyard.

I arrived early at this popular restaurant, but it was already full. The inside is surprisingly spacious. I had raw oysters, steamed oysters, and oyster gratin, and the gratin was the most delicious! The other side dishes and sashimi were also fresh and tasty. The fried tofu, grilled shrimp, and other dishes were all excellent. The clean restroom is also a nice point for women. I will definitely visit when I go to Kyoto.

Daiyasu-san is a must-visit when you go to Nishiki. The oysters here, being from a long-established store, never disappoint! I have been here many times, and every oyster is satisfying. Perhaps it's because they only serve good oysters, but they are truly delicious. The counter seats are nice, but the seats in the back overlooking the garden are the best... When I brought my friends who came for sightseeing, they were very pleased. The sake that goes well with oysters and other menu items are also very delicious. I am captivated by the sweetness of the yukke sashimi and end up ordering it every time.

Fresh oysters (390) from Oiura, Uchiumi, and Senpoushi were amazing! Senpoushi was the best! It's hard to remember which location has the best oysters, but Senpoushi is memorable. The oyster fry (750) was big, juicy, and delicious! And for 750 yen, it's a great deal! The tartar sauce was also good. The atmosphere in the courtyard was nice. It's a restaurant where you want to take your time eating and drinking. Thank you for the delicious meal!
