On a Sunday when I overslept, I suddenly decided to go out for brunch and chose this place. The main dish has three options priced at 3,300 yen, with choices between Tandoori chicken and roast pork. Other side dishes such as salad, pasta, soup, and dessert were all-you-can-eat buffet style. The restaurant has a lot of greenery outside the window, creating a feeling of openness, and eating the buffet under natural light was very delicious. The staff at the restaurant were very kind and quick to ask if we needed anything, giving us a hotel-grade hospitality experience. It's a small hotel, so if you come by car, you'll have to use a nearby coin parking which is a bit of a downside, but overall, I was satisfied with the atmosphere and taste. It was delicious - thank you for the meal! 🍽️

I stayed at a corner twin room with breakfast included at a great deal through the national travel support program, and I would like to share my experience with the morning buffet I enjoyed during my stay. The spacious dining area on the 1st floor can accommodate a large number of guests comfortably. The lineup of Japanese dishes was fantastic, with a wider variety and higher quality compared to other hotels. Among Kyoto hotels, I believe this morning buffet ranks quite high. Although the food corners can feel a bit cramped when crowded, if you avoid peak times, you can leisurely choose your dishes. The hotel's atmosphere is lovely, making it a potential choice for future visits.

This time, during the spring break, my grandson and I stayed at a camp with my grandparents to focus on studying, daily habits, food education, and recreation. For recreation, we went on a 2-day trip to Kyoto, visiting the Golden Pavilion, Kyoto Railway Museum, and Kyoto Aquarium. We made a reservation in advance at the Plum Alley Portel Kyoto restaurant located there. We had breakfast at the buffet on the first floor. A fun fact about "buffet" is that it is a self-service style of dining where you pay based on what you take. The layout of the buffet area was a bit confusing, with hidden spaces that some guests may not notice. The seating space was quite narrow, requiring consideration when moving around. Overall, the food was good with a variety of dishes including Japanese, Western, grilled, and desserts. The service from the staff was also excellent. Thank you for the delicious meal.

During my New Year's trip to Kyoto, I stayed at a hotel for 2 nights and dined at the hotel restaurant. The interior was very sophisticated and created a nice atmosphere. I made a reservation in the morning at the front desk, so I could only order a la carte. Although the a la carte menu had limited options, the meaty texture of the Bolognese pasta and Keema curry was excellent, and they were very delicious especially when paired with the Kyoto pickles.

This is a hotel called "Potel" that opened in 2020 and is part of the JR West Japan group. It is located next to the Kyoto City Aquarium and Railway Museum, serving as an official hotel. It is advertised as a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, but in reality, it is not within walking distance. It might be more convenient to use a taxi. The hotel is relatively new and clean, with standard rooms and amenities. One unique feature is that the room wear provided is very comfortable and can be purchased for around 15,000 yen. The hotel also has facilities for children to play, reading spaces, and a coffee area with a self-service beer and wine station. However, there are some drawbacks such as limited capacity for breakfast buffet, which can lead to long waiting times, and the inability to fulfill special requests. The breakfast quality is good with a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Overall, it is a decent option for a base for exploring Kyoto, but improvements are needed in various aspects of the hotel services.

I had breakfast and lunch ☆ For breakfast, I had a buffet with a Kyoto-style focus, and for lunch, I had a set menu. 《Breakfast》The buffet had cute dishes with a Kyoto vibe, and the tray was lovely! The choices were not bad. However, I was a bit surprised that there were almost no choices for tea like black tea or green tea, which I like. I wish they had hojicha or something like that. They did have herb water. The white miso soup and takikomi gohan (seasoned rice) were Kyoto-style, and the freshly cooked white rice and grilled onigiri made it hard to choose. They also had Kyoto pickles. The dessert corner had beautiful wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets)! I got greedy and took one of each, haha. But instead of mochi, they had ohagi, which was quite filling... The skin was thick, haha. It would have been better with just one anko (sweet red bean paste) inside. Or maybe just mini ohagi would have been enough. 《Lunch》The main dish was pork sauté, and it came with a croissant and onion soup. Each dish was well thought out and delicious. The coffee was especially good, and there was a coffee corner in the common area of the hotel floor where you could grind and brew your own coffee beans. It can get crowded during breakfast and lunch times. The concept seems to be family-friendly, as there are facilities for families with small children to enjoy their time at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Thank you for the meal ♪

I had breakfast buffet here when I stayed here. Everything was carefully made and delicious! The tai dashi chazuke made with grilled onigiri was especially delicious, and the dessert jelly was cute and impressive. There were many drink options, which was great. I wish there were a few more types of fruits.

We stayed at a hotel for a family trip. We had a course dinner where each dish came out one by one. From appetizers to desserts, various dishes were served, and it was very satisfying. The ingredients, seasoning, and service were all amazing.

15 minutes walk from Kyoto Station, 5 minutes walk from Umekoji Kyoto Nishi Station, located inside Umekoji Porte Kyoto, this restaurant offers a dinner course themed around fermentation to bring out the flavor of the ingredients. The course costs ¥7,700 and includes a welcome drink. Dishes include Shiitake Koji Kasu Financier with Snap Peas, Mackerel and Seasonal Vegetable Spring Rolls with Salsa, Bamboo Shoot and Kitakari Gnocchi with Nanohana and Anchovy Fillet, Spring Dumplings with Fermented Shiitake Kasu Soup with Shirasu, Octopus, and Edamame, Omi Chicken San Gimignano with Vegetables from the Middle of the Slope, and Hiroshima Lemon Cardamom Donuts. This spring course emphasizes the taste of fresh green ingredients. Each dish features vegetables, making it a healthy and enjoyable dining experience. The Mackerel and Seasonal Vegetable Spring Rolls were particularly delicious, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. The course overall was impressive, with a focus on high-quality ingredients. It's not always easy to consume this amount of vegetables, but every dish was enjoyable until the end. The hospitality at the hotel was excellent, providing a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Main dining at Umezono Poteru. You can enjoy body-friendly dishes that incorporate koji and fermented foods. The spacious seating allows for elegant dining, not only for infection prevention but also for a luxurious dining experience. The course for the day includes: charcoal-grilled beef "kappa" cut × koji miso-cured cold mackerel marinated in thousand-layer pickled tomato sauce ravioli with salmon grill × mascarpone and miso sauce grilled lamb loin × koji yogurt sauce pudding made with Miyama eggs. You can bring alcohol from the neighboring Umezono Fermentation Plant, with an additional glass fee of 500 yen for bringing your own. There is also a menu, but it may be easier to imagine if you visit in advance. Despite having many seats, reservations are controlled, allowing for a relaxed atmosphere. The attentive staff provides excellent service. I can confidently recommend this place.

I also stayed at Potel and used a plan for 1 night with 2 meals included. I don't know how much the course alone costs. The food was all delicious with gentle flavors! I could feel the commitment to the ingredients, perhaps a Kyoto-style arrangement? The meat was also tender and very tasty. The dessert came in a stylish wooden box, and guests were allowed to take it back to their room. It was a very satisfying dinner experience!

I stayed at Hotel Posh Kyoto and visited Kyoto Aquarium for the first time on this day. It has been a while since I visited Kyoto, as I always thought Kyoto was all about shrines. I didn't think there were many places to go with kids, and I had the biased impression that all we could eat in Kyoto was matcha or tofu. I'm not really interested in aquariums, but I decided to go because I got a passport. For that reason, I stayed at this hotel nearby. Since my child has allergies and picky eating habits, I opted for a room-only stay, but on the second day, we visited the aquarium again. On our way back, we were tired from looking for restaurants, so we decided to take a break and entered this hotel. For lunch, we chose our main dishes and helped ourselves to rice, side dishes, bread, and cakes at the buffet. The pasta and pork steak mains were both delicious. There was a kids' plate for 880 yen, which included hamburger and shrimp fry, but it wasn't enough for my elementary school-aged child. Since my child has an egg allergy, I ended up eating it instead, but I should have just ordered an adult meal for 2,200 yen. I'm not sure about the morning or dinner meals, but the lunch was delicious, so eating at Hotel Posh might be a good idea!

I stayed at "Potel" located along Umekoji Park and had their dinner course! All dishes in the course were cooked using charcoal, which was innovative! The highlight was definitely the charcoal-grilled Japanese black wagyu sirloin steak! The outer part was crispy from the charcoal, while the inside was tender and rare, absolutely delicious! The sauce made from rapeseed flowers had a slight bitterness, which paired perfectly. The charcoal-grilled rare seafood was made with Botan shrimp, and it melted in the mouth, so tasty! The jelly made from nagaimo was also delicious! The charcoal carbonara was a bit lighter in flavor than expected, but it went well with the salty bacon. The dessert, charcoal strawberry, turned out to be a pudding coated with charcoal jelly and topped with strawberries! The hotel also had a public bath called "Poteyu" where alcohol and drinks were complimentary in the relaxation area! It was amazing! #potel #umekojipotelkyoto #Potel #KyotoGourmet #sumi #carbon #courseDinner #charcoal-grilledJapaneseblackwagyusirloinsteak #foodie #hotel #hoteldinner #adultsdayoff #katolog

It seems that it was opened last October. I had no idea, but while playing in the park, I noticed a stylish lunch spot and decided to check it out. The interior, or rather the hotel, is brand new and very beautiful with a lot of openness and style. It is spacious, so you can feel comfortable bringing children. The lunch buffet costs 2200 yen. You choose the main dish from the menu, and then help yourself to salads, bread, soup, desserts, side dishes, and drinks. The tableware and cutlery are very stylish, which I loved. The minestrone soup was warm and nutritious, and delicious. The pasta I ordered had a strong porcini aroma and the noodles were firm, which the children didn't like, but the overall atmosphere and openness were lovely and we were able to relax and enjoy our time. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed at "Umekoji Potel Kyoto," which opened in Umekoji Park in Kyoto on October 14, 2020. It's not just a regular hotel, it's a fun hotel called "Potel." When you explore the inside, you'll find a guest-only lounge called "Awai no Ma" on each floor. You can enjoy reading in the "Book," a wood-themed space in "Moku," listen to records in "Music," and play board games in "Game." My favorite part was the rooftop terrace with a view of Kyoto, where you can see Toji's pagoda and Kyoto Tower. Watching the trains go by, you can lose track of time. The sunset was beautiful, and the night view was romantic. The large communal bath, "Poteyu," recreates a traditional public bath and offers a nostalgic experience. The guest rooms are spacious and cozy, providing a blissful time. The self-service bar on the first floor offers alcohol, soft drinks, and more for free. You can enjoy 100% fruit juice, cold-brewed iced tea, hand-drip coffee using Potel's original blend beans, beer, wine, and more. The first-floor restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, there is a buffet counter with dishes like salt koji-grilled fish, miso soup, and Kyoto-style side dishes. There were many options, and everything was delicious.

A new hotel has opened in Kyoto, located within the Kyoto Umekoji Park. The latest trend in hotels is relaxation hotels! This hotel does not have a large banquet hall or a high-rise panoramic restaurant and bar. The rooms are not luxurious but offer a spacious and relaxing environment where guests can unwind. The restaurant is spacious, with separate areas for the bar and dining. For lunch, you can order a main dish and enjoy a buffet-style meal with a variety of Japanese and Western dishes. The hotel strictly implements infection control measures, which may feel slightly inconvenient, but everyone is cooperative and provides a sense of security. The desserts are excellent, and the iced tea has a strong rose flavor that is unique and delicious.

In Kyoto Ume Koji, a new popular spot has opened with a stylish exterior and a café and restaurant combined accommodation facility. I received a regional coupon for GoTo Travel, so I enjoyed dining at the restaurant in the facility. I ordered the Seasonal Vegetable 5 types, Bonito Carpaccio, and Oku Tanba Chicken marinated in koji. The restaurant offers sake made at a nearby brewery. The Bonito Carpaccio, thickly sliced and served with basil and special sauce, had a unique texture and flavor. The seasonal vegetables included lotus root, baby corn, and maitake mushrooms, perfect for the autumn season. The grilled vegetables were fresh and delicious, especially when dipped in the bagna cauda sauce. For the main dish, I chose the Oku Tanba Chicken, which was tender and flavorful from being cooked with koji. It paired well with the mustard provided. The atmosphere was also nice, making it a great place to relax after a day out.

My colleagues and I had promised to go to a lunch buffet as a reward when our bonuses came in. We selected a more luxurious buffet than usual to treat ourselves. The lobby was very clean and surprisingly not crowded, despite being relatively new. We had to wait a bit for our table, even though we had made a reservation. Unfortunately, all the window seats were already taken. We were seated at a designated table as the sun was shining brightly and it was getting hot. For the main dishes, I ordered grilled chicken thighs and my friend had stewed hamburger steak. Both were delicious and not greasy. However, the other buffet items were smaller than they appeared in the photos. The salad had wilted lettuce that was turning yellow. The main dishes were good, but the rest of the buffet was standard and may not be satisfying for men due to the small portion sizes. The desserts were also small but tasty. The curry was especially delicious. There were some items I didn't get to try, so I plan to go back and enjoy the other buffet options next time. I look forward to trying the seasonal changes in the menu. Overall, it was a good experience.

Next to the aquarium, I stopped by this restaurant after visiting the aquarium. The seats were spacious and had a very open feel. There were many families with children, making it lively! I chose the spare ribs and chicken as my main dishes, and they were very delicious. The buffet included several types of bread, salad, grapefruit, two types of pasta, two thick bread pizzas, warm vegetables, and three small cakes that you often see at buffets. The lineup was smaller than I expected, and for the price, it felt a bit lacking for adults. However, I think it's a convenient place to have lunch between visiting the aquarium and the railway museum, especially for families with children.
