I went to eat with a friend who came to Kyoto. The price was student-friendly, but the satisfaction was quite high, and my friend who came with me was very satisfied. I tried to make a reservation about a week ago, but couldn't, so on the day, I lined up from 30 minutes before the opening (I think it was prohibited to line up before 5:00 when the opening was at 5:30). I was able to get to the table first somehow, but there was still a long line afterwards, so I recommend making a reservation early!!

The restaurant opens for dinner at 17:30, but it's okay to line up from 17:00 onwards. I arrived around 17:05 and prepared to wait in a line of about 30 people for 45 minutes. I entered the restaurant around 17:50 and ordered "beef sushi, beef hitsumabushi, beef steak." The hitsumabushi and beef steak start from 1080 yen, and the wagyu sushi is priced at 1680 yen, which is quite reasonable. The food was delicious, and you can even get extra rice and meat. I was surprised by the low rating of this restaurant, but I believe that the quality and price of the food are more than enough, as evidenced by the long line. We had been curious about this place for a while, so two of us visited together. We started lining up around 11:30 and began eating at 12:30. The rare meat and sauce matched really well and were incredibly delicious!! The atmosphere was also nice, so I would like to come back again!

The restaurant had a long line. I made a reservation a month ago, so I was seated right away. The meat kabayaki I had been looking forward to was very tender, and the sauce was delicious. I could customize the taste by adding wasabi, sakura salt, or black shichimi, so it didn't get boring. Lastly, I poured the tea over the rice bowl, which had a light and easy-to-eat flavor. I also ordered meat sushi, and all of them had very tender meat and were delicious. I think those who love meat should visit. I want to go again!

For 1188 yen (slightly increased in price?), you can enjoy a hearty serving of beef! It comes with beef over rice, pickles, and condiments. There are various seasonings on the table, and personally, I recommend the Sakura salt. As the name suggests, it has a cherry blossom scent that is elegant. The beef has a good balance of lean meat and fat, making you smile involuntarily. You can even enjoy it as ochazuke in the end. It's worth the wait in line. Highly recommended!

A reasonably priced meat mabushi that was buzzing on SNS for 1,080 yen! Maeda Masamune Shoten Co., Ltd., led by Maeda Masamune, operates a meat dish specialty store. The store owner, who comes from a meat wholesale background and knows meat inside out, carefully selects high-quality beef that can be enjoyed at a reasonable price. Currently, there are a total of two directly managed stores (Kahara-cho, Asakusa), and this store opened on July 27, 2019. The location of the store is about 40m north of Kahara-cho Street from Hotel Muse Kyoto, and the store is on the left hand side. The nearest station is Kahara-cho Station in Kyoto, which is a 3-minute walk from the store. The business hours are lunch from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm (last order at 3:00 pm), dinner from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm (last order at 8:30 pm), closed on Tuesdays (open on holidays), and other irregular holidays. The seating capacity is 19 seats, with 9 counter seats and 10 table seats. Reservations can be made via the official website for online reservations, and phone reservations are also possible. I made a reservation and arrived at 12:30 on Saturday for lunch. When I arrived, there were already about 15 groups waiting, so I think reservations are essential. However, some people who were waiting at the back were able to get inside by the time we started eating, so the turnover may be faster than expected. The meat mabushi I was looking for can be chosen with black wagyu, and the regular one is 1,080 yen! Even just this has a lot of meat on it, but many people opted for extra meat or extra extra meat! The tender meat was very delicious and we finished it in no time. Next time, I want to try the black wagyu one.

Hitsumabushi and steak bowl Hitsumabushi comes with a peanut-flavored sauce that seeps into the rice, creating a perfect combination when topped with dashi. The steak bowl has thicker, larger cuts of meat compared to hitsumabushi. Both dishes used regular meat, but hitsumabushi was easier to eat in terms of meat quality (the steak had some noticeable sinew).

I had the beef hitsumabushi. I visited around 6 pm on a weekday and had to wait a bit, but was seated right away. It's also only 1000 yen for dinner, so it's delicious and good value for money. I would like to visit again. The beef steak bowl was also delicious.

A few minutes' walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. I stopped by here today. Normally, there is a long line in front of the shop, but on this day, it was zero due to heavy rain, so I went in. The interior of the shop has only table seats, and the main menu includes meat sushi, meat mabushi, and steak rice bowl. I ordered the meat mabushi. The rice is normal size, but you can get a large portion for free. Now, time to eat! The meat mabushi is like the meat version of hitsumabushi, and at first, I eat it as it is. The meat quality is quite ordinary, not tough and easy to eat. The sauce is just the right amount. However, the crucial broth is lacking, and when I try to make it like ochazuke, it's not enough at all. It may have just been a fluke on this day, but it was a bit disappointing. Anyway, thank you for the meal! Even at night, this content for less than 1,200 yen is high cost performance. I don't feel the need to revisit by waiting in line, but it's worth a visit if there's no wait.

I visited a famous restaurant that always has a long line by making a reservation. It was a Wednesday, so there seemed to be fewer people in Kyoto overall. There were about 6 customers waiting in line outside the restaurant. Since I had a reservation, I was able to enter right away. I ordered the meat rice bowl and meat sushi, which were served in about 15 minutes. The lean meat was lightly grilled and sliced on top of rice, allowing you to enjoy it in three different ways by adding condiments and tea soup. It was said to be imported beef, but I think the price of 1,078 yen is quite reasonable. The meat sushi was supposed to offer three different flavors, but I didn't really notice much of a difference between them.

I visited at 2:00 pm on a weekday. There were about 4 groups waiting in line, but I was able to enter smoothly. It was tastier than I expected! It was fun to enjoy different flavors. The prices were reasonable compared to other places in Kyoto. I would like to go again if there is no line.

I was able to get in within about 15 minutes by chance, but it seems like there is usually a long line. It is possible to make a phone reservation in advance. The price is reasonable at 1000 yen, so the quality of the meat is average. It seems to cater more towards tourists and students. I noticed that there was variability in the customer service provided by the staff. When lining up, we were directed to line up along the arcade street instead of in front of the store, but because the line was short, some customers didn't realize and started lining up in the empty space inside the store, causing confusion. The staff guiding and the staff asking how many people were in each group seemed to be out of sync. Additionally, the person at the next table was given a manual on how to eat the dish they ordered, but I did not receive one and when I tried to ask for it, the staff didn't notice. Also, the side dish we ordered was not served until after we finished our meal, indicating a lack of coordination among the staff.

Meat Mabushi for 1188 yen. I heard there's usually a long line, but it was rare to see only a few people waiting on a weekday night, so I was lucky to get in quickly! The price is great for the quality of the food. I might be willing to wait in line to try it again. The other menu items also looked delicious.

I consulted with my friend about where to have dinner, and they said they wanted to go to Ushimitsu. We went to the front of the restaurant and saw that there was less of a line than usual, so we decided to eat there. We ordered the popular hitsumabushi and meat sushi. When I took a bite of the meat, the rich flavor overflowed, and the nuts on top were perfectly balanced, which was impressive. The price was also reasonable for this quality, so we were very satisfied. By the way, the correct way to read Ushimitsu is "Ushimitsu."

It is recommended to make a reservation on the website as waiting in line would likely be over an hour. In conclusion, the food was delicious but I feel like once is enough. Meat Mabushi Black Wagyu (Chazuke Set) was served in 10 minutes. I opted for no peanuts. The roast beef was beautifully arranged in the bowl, cooked to perfection with a nice glaze. The sweet sauce was just right, although it lacked the traditional sansho pepper and had cracked pepper instead. The Black Wagyu was thick yet tender and very flavorful. The regular Meat Mabushi, on the other hand, started to show some chewiness as I ate more. The price difference between the regular and Black Wagyu is 1,650 yen, so if you're not too concerned about that, the regular one is still delicious. There were condiments for flavor variation like fried garlic, sakura salt, shichimi, and soy sauce. The fried garlic and shichimi were particularly good. The sakura salt had an unnecessary sakura flavor. The final meat broth for the chazuke was okay, but personally, I think regular green tea would be better. Arrived at 12:30, there was a long line extending outside the restaurant. I was glad I had made a reservation a month ago, so I could enter at the front of the line. If I had waited in line, I probably wouldn't have been able to eat for an hour. The restaurant had a second floor, but I was seated on the first floor so I didn't see it. However, about 10 people came down the stairs, so I think it must be spacious. The staff, despite being busy, were pouring hot tea, cold tea, and water efficiently. They also explained how to eat the dishes clearly. There weren't many families, but mostly groups of girls rather than couples. They mentioned the use of sesame and peanuts, which I thought was good for people with allergies. When I opened the lid, I saw neatly arranged meat, very photogenic. The texture and taste were excellent. The sauce was light, with a strong saltiness. You could change the taste with fried garlic, sakura salt, shichimi, and soy sauce. They also served tea rice with dashi, which was very delicious. I think the portion size is perfect for girls, but it might be a little small for men. You can ask for extra rice for free, which I think is a good idea.

I took the train at 10:30 in the morning and arrived at 11:15. There was already a line formed, and I was able to enter the restaurant at 14:00. I started eating at 14:15, so it took 3 hours in total. It was worth the wait for the visually appealing dishes, delicious meat, and the price which was surprisingly only 1080 yen (excluding tax) instead of the expected 1500 yen or more. I recommend trying it out, but it's better to make a reservation if possible!

I made a reservation because there is always a long line. The turnover seemed fast, so even the people waiting in line were able to enter smoothly. The meat was juicy, and it was delicious even when made into a tea rice style. I like strong flavors, so I thought it would be nice if it were a bit more seasoned.

It was hard to make a reservation, but I managed to schedule it on a day when I had other plans haha. They had hojicha tea available for those waiting outside. The restaurant had more seating on the second floor than I expected. The meat mabushi was delicious. However, I didn't really like the pickles that came with it. The long line was justified.
