Instead of just going back, I decided to look around and found a nice-looking restaurant called "Nihon Sake Shokudo". It seemed exciting, like a Japanese sake dining hall. They seemed to have started serving lunch as well. I saw a set menu with obanzai-like dishes outside, so I decided to try that. Inside the restaurant, there were foreign customers enjoying Japanese sake. It was a nice atmosphere. I wanted to drink sake too, but this time I settled for just having lunch. I ordered the obanzai set meal. The interior of the restaurant was very stylish, like a renovated machiya. Sitting at the counter with plenty of Japanese sake in front of me, I thought I must come back at night. The obanzai set meal arrived, and it looked beautiful. Presentation is important in Kyoto. The dishes were not large in quantity, but each had seasonal vegetables and were delicious. I have started to appreciate quality over quantity recently. The brown rice was delicious, and the Kyoto vegetables and stew-like dishes were also tasty. They would probably make great snacks for sake at night. I definitely look forward to coming back at night next time.

I was a bit hesitant because of the name of the Japanese sake dining, but the atmosphere is nice and the food is delicious. It's more cost-effective to go for all-you-can-drink if you plan to have about 4 cups of sake. I wish I had gone earlier.

Located on the west side if you walk east on Oike Street and north on Takakura Street after getting off at Karasuma Oike Station. This shop has a wide variety of Japanese sake, and the owner recommends it, so even if you're not used to drinking sake, you can enjoy it. Since it's a sake shop, it's non-smoking.

They also offer an all-you-can-drink menu for sake, which is rare for Japanese sake places, and it's definitely worth it for those who like to drink a lot. I highly recommend it!

I made a takeout reservation at around 18:10 on Saturday. Previously, I was told that it would take 40 minutes to cook because it takes time to cook the rice, but today they said it could be done in 20 minutes. Tonight's daily bento box is a mixed fry bento, as they informed me over the phone. It had a shrimp fry with the head still on lying on top of the rice, giving it a luxurious feel. I can't believe it's only 700 yen. I was especially happy with the side dishes. As someone with a childlike palate, I struggle with vinegared dishes, dried radish, and boiled beans, so the side dishes here were a lifesaver!

A few minutes' walk from Karasuma Oike Station in Kyoto, facing Takakura Street, is a sake bar called "Nihonshu Shokudo Shizuku." As the name suggests, it's a place where you can casually enjoy sake and snacks. After finishing a business meeting in Kyoto in the early evening, I felt it would be a waste to just head straight home. So, I decided to stop by on my way back to Kyoto Station. I found out on Tabelog that there are some places in Kyoto that open as early as 3 or 4 p.m. on weekdays. This place also opens at 4 p.m., so I was drawn in by 4:30 p.m. (laughs). I was seated at the counter in the back and learned about the restaurant's system. They offered a drink-all-you-can option for ¥2500 (with a 2-hour stay allowed, last order after 100 minutes). I calculated that if I drank 2 cups, it would be worth it, so I went for the drink-all-you-can option. I started with a beer to cool down after walking in the heat. Looking at the menu, they had a variety of appetizers, sashimi, and other delicious dishes that go well with sake. There were also creative dishes on the menu. First, I had a plate of five appetizers, which included a mix of traditional and original dishes. I nibbled on them as I enjoyed my sake. I also ordered a sashimi platter for one person. It included flounder, bluefin tuna, bonito, and octopus, along with tofu for some reason (maybe because it's a single serving?). The freshness of the octopus was particularly impressive, but all the sashimi was of high quality. Once I started drinking sake, I couldn't stop. After a refreshing Mutsu Hassen as the first drink, I moved on to Kyoto brands. Kyoto sake is generally rich and unique in flavor. I ended up trying a total of 5 cups, each half a cup. It was a nice touch that they provided a card with the names of the sake I had tried. I've found a place that makes my business trips to Kyoto more enjoyable. It's a dream come true for sake lovers.

It arrived in about 5 minutes and was also very tasty.
