Ordered the "parent and child duck set". The parent-child bowl here is just delicious! The slightly reddish egg visually conveys a richness even without tasting it! The perfectly cooked half-boiled egg, mixed with broth, stimulates the appetite with each bite. A bowl that brings happiness to both the stomach and the heart! This is truly the number one parent-child bowl in life!

I visited a restaurant after praying at the Sanzen-in Temple. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, but the prices were a bit high. I ordered the parent and child duck set, which was delicious but a bit small for the price. Overall, the food was good, but the prices were on the expensive side. The service was quick and they even brought me tea without me asking. Thank you for the meal.

Due to the limited number of seats, this restaurant is always crowded during lunchtime. Although it is called "Tsukune-ya," the most popular dish here is the oyakodon. On this day, I had the parent duckling set, which cost around 1650 yen. It includes a small oyakodon and duck nanban (soba or udon). Unlike the regular oyakodon, this one does not have a raw egg yolk on top, but you can still taste the rich flavor of the orange-colored egg. The soba was topped with plenty of green onions, and the duck had a strong and delicious flavor. I also liked that they served tea instead of water.

Near Jingu Marutamachi Station in Kyoto City, there is a restaurant called "Kyoto Tsukune-ya." During lunchtime, I added an extra delicious egg yolk topping to the oyakodon, making it two egg yolks in total. The visual appeal matched the deliciousness! #Oyakodon #Egg #EggDish #Chicken #KyotoTsukuneYa #KyotoGourmet #KyotoCityLunch #JinguMarutamachiStation

Reasonably priced popular restaurant✨ The interior has only table seats, but even when we went with 4 people including children, they provided children's spoons and forks! The photo is of a chicken cutlet bowl, with the tenderness of the chicken and the richness of the egg yolk being distinctive and very delicious. The children loved the minced meat cutlet set meal, eating it up eagerly. We also ordered chicken skewers (550 yen), and one chicken thigh skewer with sauce (170 yen), and the chicken skewers had a delicious charcoal flavor that the children couldn't get enough of! For adults, the chicken cutlet bowl, oyakodon, or minced meat skewers and chicken skewers might be good choices for children who want to avoid half-cooked eggs. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced! Will definitely go back again!

I heard that the parent and child bowl for lunch is popular here. There is also a chicken dish restaurant next door which is a bit more high-end, offering dishes like chicken and egg bowl with high-quality ingredients. Both places seem to be part of the same group, but cater to different preferences in terms of price and texture. As for the parent and child bowl here, it is different from the traditional Kyoto style, with a rich sauce and a whole egg on top, similar to the familiar Kanto style. Personally, I think it's delicious, but maybe it doesn't need to be so saucy. Thank you for the meal.

Even before 12 o'clock, the restaurant is already full~~~ The parent-child bowl with glossy eggs and the duck udon with flavorful broth and glossy noodles have the best combination. It's located near Jingu Marutamachi Station on the Keihan Line, just a 10-15 minute walk from there is the Kyoto Imperial Palace, so it's recommended to take a walk and see the cherry blossoms at the Kyoto Imperial Palace~~~ Highly recommended!!!

The chicken karaage set meal for 1250 yen was good. There was a chopstick rest, the miso soup was delicious, and they served tea in a teapot, which was nice. However, the price was high. The chicken karaage was too crispy and not juicy enough for my liking. The ponzu sauce was too strong. I regret choosing this meal as I wanted to try the oyakodon. I will not come back again. The miso soup had a different taste, maybe they mixed white miso in it. The ponzu sauce had a strong smell from the beginning, which was a bit overwhelming. The tofu was interesting as it seemed to be already seasoned with soy sauce. It was nice to have tea served in a teapot, but the place was crowded so I couldn't stay long. I felt sorry for taking up a 4-person table by myself.

A famous restaurant in Kyoto known for its oyakodon! You can order it as a single item, but this time I tried the "lunch limited lunch set" for 2,200 yen with an extra orange-colored rich raw egg (170 yen) on top! The original oyakodon already comes with two eggs, but adding an extra orange-colored yolk makes it even more Instagram-worthy. The restaurant has only table seats and has a quiet and calm atmosphere.

Behind the main store of Hachigaian Honten, there is a sister shop. The main store was fully booked, but luckily I was able to get in here at the opening time. Finally, I could try the duck nanba udon! I had only tried it through delivery before, but here they offer a half-and-half set with oyakodon! Seriously amazing! Perfect for someone like me who is greedy. I could choose between soba and udon for the duck nanba. It seems that they are strictly enforcing silent eating as a measure against COVID-19. While waiting, I chat with my friends in a hushed tone. The greedy set is brought out one by one, oh! The egg yolk is so yellow! And it's rare, really rare! The white is still transparent. As a woman, I appreciate the small portion of rice. Maybe for men, it might not be enough? The udon, first the soup. Ah, it's comforting. Sprinkling plenty of Kyoto sansho pepper is the way to enjoy the duck nanba here. Ah, this numbing sensation is irresistible. It was very delicious. I will definitely visit again when I come to Kyoto.

Located very close to the Marutamachi Station, just a short walk north on Marutamachi Street, is the chicken cuisine restaurant called "Kyoto Tsukune-ya". I visited during lunchtime around 12:30 on a weekday and the place was packed. After a 10-minute wait, I was seated. The menu offers various chicken dishes such as tsukune set meals, chicken cutlet, and fried chicken, but the most famous dish seemed to be the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl), so I ordered that (1450 yen). Looking around, it seemed like about 80% of the customers were also enjoying the oyakodon! It's definitely popular. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes. It was presented on a long tray with the main oyakodon, miso soup, cold tofu, and pickles. The oyakodon had a beautifully runny egg on top, with green onions on the side, and a rich yellow yolk in the center. Breaking the yolk, a thick and creamy egg yolk oozed out! The way it oozed out indicated its richness. The chicken was tender and juicy, complementing the flavorful egg. The combination of the two created a delicious and satisfying meal. Overall, it was a high-quality oyakodon that I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for the meal.

I started a gourmet website. The name of the restaurant is not Tsukune, but Oyakodon! This is a story about a chicken restaurant called "Kyoto Tsukune-ya" in Kyoto. The specialty is not Tsukune, but Oyakodon. The location is just a few minutes from Jingu Marutamachi Station, and behind the restaurant is a long-established chicken restaurant called "Hakki-an". The two are not in competition, as Tsukune-ya is produced by Hakki-an. It can be said that Tsukune-ya is a spin-off of a high-end restaurant where you can enjoy their dishes in a more casual setting. The popular menu items are the signature Oyakodon and Duck Nanban. The "Oyako Kamo Set" where you can enjoy both at the same time is popular. I asked the staff for recommendations, but they didn't mention Tsukune at all. Oyakodon has a rich flavor as expected from its deep egg color. The creamy egg and dashi blend together to coat the chicken and rice with a rich flavor. The chicken itself is full of umami, likely due to the same sourcing as the traditional chicken restaurant. The Duck Nanban was also served piping hot, almost unnaturally so, making it a bit challenging for those with sensitive tongues. It had a sweet and flavorful dashi, which was a fresh taste for someone like me from Kanto. The quality of the duck was also high. Thank you for the meal!

I had lunch at "Kyoto Tsukune-ya" and had the "oyakodon" dish. It came with cold tofu, miso soup, and pickles for 1,450 yen. The price is a bit high, but it is incredibly delicious. The yolk on top is rich and flavorful, and the egg on the rice is soft and creamy. The slightly sweet broth-soaked chicken is also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Riding on the Keihan line, the restaurant is just a 2-minute walk from Jingu Marutamachi Station. With a high rating of 3.65 on Tabelog, I had high expectations for lunch. It was just past 12 o'clock, and with the increasing number of COVID cases, there were only two other groups of customers. The staff seemed inexperienced, perhaps it was their first time working as waitstaff. I was seated and looked over the menu. I couldn't miss the oyakodon, but I also wanted to try the noodles, so I ordered the oyako duck set with soba for 1,500 yen. The tables and chairs were on the smaller side, and my seat near the door was a bit cramped with the handle hitting my back. After about 15 minutes of waiting, my meal arrived. The oyakodon had a rich egg topping, and the small size had the yolk broken. The perfect balance of the slightly sweet and salty sauce, flavorful egg, and tender chicken made it quite delicious. The soba had a strong chicken broth flavor, but it was too hot, and the flavor was lost, making it hard to enjoy. The duck meat was overcooked and tough, which was disappointing. The noodles seemed lacking in texture and flavor, not living up to the high rating. Overall, I didn't feel as satisfied as I had hoped. Thank you for the meal.

Lunch set meal with a small size oyakodon, chicken wings tempura, and duck meat set (2200 yen). The oyakodon is delicious with a rich egg yolk mixed with broth. The chicken wings tempura is quite tasty. The duck meat is just like regular duck meat. The lunch set meal is a bit pricey for the portion size. The oyakodon was delicious as expected, but still a bit on the expensive side.

This restaurant is popular among locals and has a casual atmosphere where you can easily stop by for lunch. They offer a parent-child rice bowl and duck nabe set. The clientele tends to be older. There are about three lunch sets to choose from.

When I visited around 1:30 pm on a holiday, there were about 2 groups of customers in the restaurant. This time, I ordered the parent and child duck nanba set, which was around 1,600 yen. When I saw the reviews, I thought maybe there would be soup next to the parent and child bowl, but it was duck nanba. You could choose between udon or soba noodles. First, the parent and child bowl. The color of the yolk is deep! It's more orange like a persimmon than yellow! Overall, it had a gentle sweetness from the broth. The egg was in a semi-raw state with occasional slimy egg white. The chicken in the parent and child bowl had a nice sweet flavor. The duck on top of the udon was chewy and had a good texture, it was delicious. The gentle broth was also delicious. Personally, I am overwhelmingly a fan of chewy Sanuki udon, but Kyoto udon is also delicious. The thin noodles slide smoothly into your mouth. Mmm, refreshing! I thought having double carbohydrates might be heavy on the stomach, but both portions were small, so I was able to finish them neatly. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for lunch on Saturday. Last time I had ramen, so I was looking for something different and decided to try this place since it was nearby. Despite the late hour, the restaurant was almost full! I ordered the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and duck broth soba set. The duck had a slight smell, but the oyakodon was amazing!

Just a short walk from Jingumaruta-machi Station, this shop is tucked away in a slightly hard-to-find alley. Although the name includes "tsukune," the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) seems to be more famous. I ordered both the oyakodon and tsukune. The oyakodon is served with a vibrant raw egg on top. I recommend starting by eating it without breaking the egg, and then breaking it for a milder flavor. While they sprinkle on sansho pepper, I personally don't recommend it as it can overpower the mellow taste. The tsukune has a crispy outer layer, giving it a unique texture that I've never experienced before.

Kyoto Station to the shop by bus. Turn off the main road onto a narrow street. The inside of the shop feels like a dining room that is full with 15 people. In terms of cost performance, it might be a bit high, but the dashi and eggs were delicious. It's a comforting taste when you're tired.
