Located a 2-3 minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, this Thai restaurant is situated south of Shijo Ohashi Bridge. Lunch here typically costs around 1000 yen. During the period when the riverside dining platforms are available, you can also dine on the platform. However, the menu is slightly different, and you cannot order the same dishes as those available inside the restaurant. Lunch on the platform costs around 1800 yen. Is it considered affordable for dining on a riverside platform? The restaurant proudly displays a certificate from Thai Select, recognizing it as a place that serves delicious dishes. The restaurant was almost full when I visited. I ordered the Thai curry set for 1800 yen, which included glass noodle salad, green curry, tom yum goong, regular salad, a small side dish, and dessert. The lunch on the platform had more dishes compared to the indoor seating, giving it a luxurious feel. The menu for the platform is not just expensive; it seems to strike a good balance. All the dishes were delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness and sourness. Among all the Thai food I've tried, this restaurant is one of my favorites, and the Thai Select certification seems well-deserved. It was a delightful experience to dine on the platform in the refreshing weather before it gets too hot.

I no longer get excited and amazed by Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Maybe my taste buds have changed as I've gotten older? I crave something more bold and intense in Asian cuisine. I might come back eventually, but I'll take a break for now.

I visited for lunch. This is a rare restaurant where you can eat Thai food on the riverbed of the Kamo River. It was a hot day, so the indoor seating was full, and we ended up sitting on the riverbed terrace. However, we had a great time with a nice atmosphere and a wide variety of lunch menu options.

It was great to be in a beautiful setting on a sunny day. I ordered Thai curry and the rice made with Thai rice was delicious. The Tom Yum soup I ordered was a medium size with two shrimp, and it was quite a generous portion with a great level of spiciness. However, if you're not a fan of spicy food, it might be a bit too spicy for you.

On Friday at 18:20, I was led to the second floor of Baan Rim Nam. There were no other customers yet. It was raining outside, but I got a window seat, which was lucky. It seemed like my first visit in 5 years. The ordering was done through a gadget similar to an iPad. I ordered the following:
Singha beer (small bottle) - 650 yen
Gaeng Gai (chicken curry) - 870 yen
Pad Thai - 980 yen
Total: 2,490 yen + tax = 2,750 yen
Since I was dining alone, I played it safe and ordered popular dishes. The Singha beer came in a small bottle, easy to finish. Being alone on the second floor with a view of the Kamo River was quite delightful. At 18:30, the Pad Thai arrived. It was packed with shrimp and other ingredients, and seemed like it would fill me up quickly. The flavor was to my liking. At 18:38, the Gaeng Gai arrived. It was a generous portion, and I couldn't have ordered more. It was spicy and had a delicious Asian flavor. It would be fun to come with friends and order a variety of dishes. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

★Taste
I had the daily lunch special, Kaomangai set (priced under 1,000 yen including tax). It was probably made by someone from the original region, and the sauce was especially delicious. The mini dessert was pumpkin tapioca milk, which was also tasty.
★Location
Located next to the Kamo River, you can still see cherry blossoms even after they have fallen.
★Business Hours, Payment
Last order for lunch is at 2:15 pm, and the restaurant closes at 3 pm. Payment for lunch is cash only.

I suddenly felt like eating Thai food, so I visited this place. The taste was incredibly delicious! I ordered a spicy soup (I forgot the name) on that day, and it had that Thai-style spicy deliciousness which was amazing! There aren't that many Thai restaurants in Kawaramachi, so this place is really convenient.

This is my favorite restaurant! I have been going there for a few years now, and I have lost count of how many times I have visited (*´꒳`*) I usually go for lunch, and I often order the Yai Double Curry Set or the daily lunch special. The curry set allows you to enjoy three flavors: green curry, yellow curry, and tom yum kung. It's full of ingredients and delicious! The daily lunch special often includes gapao rice, which I tend to choose. It can also be made without spiciness, so it's recommended for those who don't like spicy food. Both options are so delicious that I always have a hard time deciding (>_<) The glass noodle salad that comes as a side dish, as well as the pumpkin coconut milk dessert, are also incredibly tasty♡ I also love the water spinach that I have for dinner! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai cuisine!

It's nice to have a cool and dry evening along the Kamo River. I called a Thai restaurant with a cool floor and they answered in fluent Japanese. The chef and staff also spoke good Japanese and provided attentive service. We ordered a 4900 yen course for 4 people. The amount of food was more than we could eat, but everything was delicious, and we were able to take the leftovers home. The basic dishes like stir-fries and fried dishes were tasty, especially the stir-fried glass noodles with shrimp and vegetables. The Tom Yum Kung was also delicious. There were many drink options and the staff was polite. It's a great restaurant.

★Located in a wooden house town near Shijo, right in the middle of the city along the Kamo River. ★You can hear Thai language and it seems like the locals are cooking. Very delicious ♡ Green curry set for 1,000 yen (including tax). Comes with salad, daikon and seaweed soup, spring rolls, fried banana, pumpkin and tapioca in coconut milk, and fried shrimp crackers. ★Open for lunch until 3pm. I entered around 2pm and had the place all to myself. A place I occasionally feel like revisiting☆

I enjoyed being able to eat Thai food for around 1000 yen! It was nice to experience the local feel even though I can't travel abroad. They also had a riverside dining option, which gave me a taste of Kyoto. However, when the Pad Krapow came, something felt off. It was missing the fried egg on top! I only realized on my way back, but it was still delicious!!

I ordered fresh spring rolls and draft beer first. The fresh spring rolls were different from Vietnamese ones, with plenty of vegetables and a fresh taste without any strong flavors. It was my first time enjoying Thai cuisine. The addition of shrimp made it even more delicious when dipped in the sauce. Next, I ordered Pad Thai and Green Curry as the main dishes. Unfortunately, I couldn't get used to the fish sauce in Pad Thai, so I gave up after one bite. Thai cuisine has always been a challenge for me, but I decided to overcome it by dining here today. As for the Green Curry, I added some spice and found the coconut milk to be perfect, making the spiciness well-balanced and incredibly delicious. To finish, I had fried bananas with vanilla ice cream, which was my first time trying fried bananas and I was amazed by how delicious they were. I will definitely visit again.

We booked a table by the window, but unfortunately it was raining. We enjoyed a delicious meal with a view of the rainy Kamo River. The staff were friendly and the drinks kept coming. It felt like a mini trip to Thailand with just us Japanese guests. Next time, we'll definitely book a table by the window again!

I sat by the window on the second floor. Inside the restaurant, there were multiple languages being spoken, and customers of various nationalities. The menu was extensive, and I had a hard time choosing, so I ended up picking only the standard items. There were chili pepper symbols indicating the spiciness level. I ordered a papaya salad with a chili pepper symbol 3, and it turned out to be really spicy! Maybe I don't have a tolerance for spiciness because my tongue was tingling and I started sweating. But it was a delicious kind of spicy that made me want to eat more. Next time, I will make sure to check the chili pepper symbols before ordering.

There are no Thai restaurants in my local area, so I always feel like visiting one when I travel. This restaurant is located near the Donkuri Bridge by the Kamogawa River. It has a narrow entrance typical of Kyoto, but there are plenty of seats on the second floor so no need to worry. I visited in October and they also had riverside seating, but there was a 500 yen charge for that. I arrived early and was able to sit by the window on the second floor. The weather was nice, so the view was amazing even without sitting by the river. It was a Sunday, so more and more customers arrived later on. There were mostly women among the customers. I had the lunch special (Gapao Rice) and it was authentic Thai cuisine that left me satisfied. It cost 980 yen. It's great to be able to enjoy a genuine lunch for under 1000 yen in the heart of Kyoto.

I have been here many times before. This time, I wasn't very hungry so I opted for the Green Curry Lunch for 990 yen. Normally, I go for the set with two different curries. The restaurant was packed, including the floor seating which incurs an additional fee. It took about 15-20 minutes for the food to be served, probably because it was so busy. The lunch here is good value for money, but I recommend coming on a day when you can take your time!

The authentic Thai cuisine served by the Thai owner includes different prices for seating by the river (riverside) and regular seating. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you'll see wedding photos of an experienced Thai person, giving you a nostalgic Thai atmosphere. Today's lunch set costs 980 yen plus 50 yen for an optional fried egg (includes Gapao rice, soup, salad, and dessert). The spicy Gapao rice will energize you in the summer, with a perfect match with Thai rice, making it a satisfying meal.

Located right near Gion Shijo! Close to the Kamo River! The authentic flavors were enjoyable, and the portions were overwhelmingly generous. There were a lot of dishes, making the dining experience fun. The window seats with a view of the river were the best. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again! It seems like a high-level restaurant where making a reservation in advance would be a good idea.

I had a late lunch in the Gion area and decided to try this ethnic restaurant I found on Tabelog. Located between the Takase River and the Kamo River, this restaurant is in a nice area with a good atmosphere. I checked that it was open, took a photo of the restaurant from the bridge over the Kamo River, and then went inside. I was seated on the first floor, overlooking the Kamo River. It was quite nice. I ordered a set of green curry and yellow curry with beer. The set also came with Tom Yum Goong and Yum Woon Sen, making it a good deal. In the photo, starting from the bottom left and going clockwise, you can see Tom Yum Goong, green curry, yogurt dessert, yellow curry, Yum Woon Sen, salad, and rice. The top left is a fried fish with sweet chili sauce. It was a generous lunch set. The spiciness of the dishes seemed to be toned down in a Kyoto-style way. I enjoyed the Thai food without any complaints. I was the only solo diner, everyone else was couples. The atmosphere was indeed nice and suitable for a date.

We had our meal by the window on the first floor. The two-story restaurant, renovated from a townhouse, seamlessly blends a stylish modern design with the traditional taste of a Thai old house. The café space, designed in an Oriental modern style, features a kitchen and counter on the first floor, with a feminine interior in white tones. In the narrow alley, tables and counters are arranged, and at the back, there is an open-air seating area overlooking the Kamogawa River, where you can enjoy Thai cuisine with the sound of the river in the background.

I walked a lot in the evening. Although I wasn't hungry at all, I felt like stopping by somewhere. My somewhat tired body was craving for something spicy, sour, sweet, and a beer. I visited the Thai restaurant "Baann Rim Naam" by the Kamogawa River. The name "house by the river" seems like it could be found along the Chao Phraya River as well. This restaurant, where you can dine on the riverside during the summer, had a fantastic location. I was seated at a table by the window and enjoyed the view of the Kamogawa River illuminated by the setting sun. I ordered:
- Som Tam (990 yen): The sound of chopping the firm green papaya on a cutting board was heard right after ordering. And soon enough, accompanied by cheerful Thai voices, the dish was served. I love Som Tam, and this one had a soft and balanced blend of spicy, sour, and sweet flavors.
- Sate Ruam Mitt (890 yen): I found an Indonesian-style dish and decided to try it. It was skewers of chicken, pork, and shrimp grilled with a sweet and savory coconut sauce. Both the chicken and pork were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were also on the softer side.
- Singha Draft Beer (590 yen x2): Overall, the beer was mild with a subtle spice. I think even those trying Thai cuisine for the first time will be safe here, as the flavors are not overpowering. I found it interesting that they hardly used cilantro. During this season, you can experience the amazing Kyoto location without a reservation. It might be a hidden gem. Next time, I would like to visit with an empty stomach. Thank you for the meal.
